My boomer dad is retiring soon and wants to pick up the guitar as a new hobby. What are some good youtube channels he could follow along with to learn? He can't read sheet music and doesn't want to pay for in-person lessons so this seems like the best option for him.

Consider Rocksmith. You play guitar hero with a real guitar. There's minigames that are just cunningly-disguised fingering exercises.

It doesn't make learning guitar any easier, but it makes it a lot more fun and a lot less frustrating. You will need a PC, PS3 or 360, and a cable. You can get the lot (including the game and cable) for under $100.

He's not hard for money but he's too much of a cheapskate to get something like that.
