So yeah Ben, it would be easier to train these people to survive the trip into space to do their job than to train actual astronauts to do it for them in the time they had
>>4156850This has to be Colbert 4D chessing preventing as many people from getting the vaccine, he must have created this bit realising and regretting how far he's let society go with the intention of alienating people at home knowing everyone around him not only will support this shit to the end but lacks the introspection to see how dumb this is. "Acting is reacting" and all...So i wonder if Gary Oldman was being kind of held back from Reeve's wet towel performance, or just how much worse Reeve's performance would've been if he was working with a shitty actor
>>4161621to be fair he was perfect for the role
>>4161629I can almost feel Oldman's frustration when he pulls out the sword on Keanu's fucking face. Like he's actually TRYING to get him to react to no avail. It's hilarious in hindsight lmao.

He says this after talking about her picture, too, very romantic desu. What's interesting is he says something like, "John Connor gave me a picture of you once... You seemed just a little sad... I always wondered what you were thinking in that moment." The picture of course was taken right at the end of the movie when Sarah was in the jeep, and she's talking on a recorder... about Kyle Reece. She was thinking of Kyle when the photo was taken.KINO. Only James Cameron can make action movies this kino on every metric.
>>4163458He’s totally right.NASA is really, really strangled by its federal umbilical cord. Priority is placed on bureaucracy. Employees belong to a massive union. It takes them forever to do relatively simple things and capricious innovation is impossible. Everything has to run through hyper rigid protocol designed to lower demands on employees and milk pay, so working with NASA costs 10x that of a private company or a foreign nation. And people do worship them soiboi style, with open mouth retarded, fuck me in the face prostration that meets some societal expectation not to besmirch the chief deity of the religion of science.Science is a great tool for living well and helping others live well. NASA still has really smart people working passionately despite the bureaucratic attempts to gimp exceptionalism. But, this ‘how dare you’ attitude about the laziest, most corpulent aerospace entity in the United States is naive, and completely ignorant of the aerospace industry.
>>4164530But, this being said,It is a really retarded movie clip. Engineers are generally brilliant at marrying the physical, conceptual, and purpose, and often have well rounded lives. Most could learn how to drill a hole faster than any roughneck, but their exceptional skill led them into another career.

>>4161614Oh cool it's that one Conker's Bad Fur Day level
>>4167532If keanu was a little better, it would have made perfect sense if you take a step back and look at the whole film.I have a soft spot for art that is generally campy with a few highly detailed, highly fleshed out foci that are taken to the logical extreme of grandiosity. It’s like a b movie with an S+ aura in the background that surfaces with things relevant to Dracula. Like mundane life with the supernatural punctuating through the vail here and there in highly precise ways.It seems obvious to me just cause I’ve always had that archetype in my heart, and it’s resonated with me in art since I was young. But it might be difficult to convince you as there’s no smoking gun to show you.Just try to recall your first impression of the movie, with the slow, comfy set-up. It clearly had a mind for spooky folk. It’s letting you relax, and doesn’t have to exhaust you with constant, absolute, severe, raw, existential starkness. You can breathe when you want to. It let’s you know when the good shit is about to happen with a fade into heaviness, so you can get that spiritual part of you warmed up to soak it in properly and carefully. And then the heaviness gets absolute, and you’re no longer experiencing a diorama with the cardboard poking out of the sides here and there. You’ve faded entirely into a dream and everything is vivid, and the writing, directing, and acting are hammered out until everything resonates and brings wonder, even under close scrutiny. Then the tension lets up until the next time, with increasing frequency as myth overtakes predictable reality.

>>4162860Interview is a masterpiece. Books must have ruined it for you. It’s easy to tell someone on paper that they ought to just separate the universes, but, with the imagery ingrained in your mind from the books and the predictability robbing you of the virgin experience, it’s never going to be the same of going into the movie cold.Like the imagery from the books is always going to be there in your mind, and it is imagery that only works in books and is constantly disjointed with the movie experience. For instance, you can never get that patient presence of situation in a movie like you can in a book, where the setting can be suspended in your mind for hours. And knowing what is going to happen is going to keep you analytical instead of open to experience. There’s already a template of [normal/should be] in your mind, and you’ll be bouncing everything off of that instead of starting with a blank canvass and a new experience.I think I’ve gotten past it a few times, but I had to watch the movie several times to absorb enough where I could actually have two distinct universes in my head.
