Thanks anon. I'm not sure where to upload it since I have a channel with my real name with some music I've done, but that was more classical music and I'm not sure I want this linked to my real name. I have a soundcloud but that's linked to an email I already used for youtube so I guess I'd have to either make up a new online persona or just make a new YouTube on a second gmail. I hate youtube/google integration, I know the site would have probably died by now otherwise but the google integration garbage makes it annoying to make alts since I don't think you can link YouTube accounts to something like Protonmail. Oh well.

I don't think it's a lack of music, probably just tons of people who have unfinished songs they don't bother uploading. Also people just feeling it might not be good enough to upload. Personally I'm just to lazy.

Little harsh since I just have lots of projects and not alot of free time. People always say "well then make time"......but they say that for everything. I have several songs I haven't finished but I still work on them. My biggest issue is mixing. I haven't released any projects I have finished because of mixing issues. Before i didn't care but then i decided to care about it and now it's just an uphill battle with adjusting older projects

How do you guys go on about making music? I remember a music theory related term(or something like that) that an anon mentioned once and im kicking myself now for not remembering it.
>>
>>4063114
Honestly a good thing to do is copying other people. Start off with a basic drum beat, a 4 bar melody and so on and so forth. You don't need to know music theory unless you want to write in multiple keys with specific intent. But to write music you don't need it. As said before, get a daw and write a melody. Music is like drawing. You can have an idea from start to finish but in all honesty, doodling is also drawing. Doodle with music, just start somewhere and just keep going and see where it takes you.
>>
>>4063146
I mean i can come up with some short beats but i dont know how to tie it up all together to form a song, and i dont want it to be a loop or something and more like composition or "theme". Take like some classic pop songs or soul music and see how it flows if and you will get what im trying to say.
>>
>>4063154
So again this goes with copying or mimicking. There's an intro, some sort of verse, maybe a break, a chorus, maybe a solo, a verse, maybe a break, maybe slower or mellowed down chorus, chorus, final solo and the end could be a continuation or a slow down or instant stop. That's a good sequence of a song. But sometimes there isn't a good answer for tying up songs. I have a hard time doing it too. But over time you will get ideas on how the more you write
>>
>>4063164
Alright i see then, so fake it till you make it type of deal. I still find impressive what type of music can people make, like Mick Gordon in doom 2016 he made some ultra corrupt music by using some old hardware and feeding it music till it had the right kind of corruption kinda like the argent energy ingame.
>>
>>
>>4063082
learn how to set following things first (the "first single" or a "test project")
> set right volume
> side chain
> clean EQ

focus on those 3 things, then you will have a "not shitty mix" if done right, then you can use Ozone Elements to master if (not the best, but again, not "shit"). Also don't touch compressors and stereo stuff too much here, minimal delay and reverb effects too. Again, really focus on the volume, side chain and EQ first on a song, it will really train you ears and make stuff easier later on.
>>
>>4063873
I've been doing some of those, the volume and EQ, everything in the equilizer and making sure it all comes together. The side chain thing I've been lazy about but it's good to know that I should do these first, make the mix good with this first then use mastering tools

>uphill battle with adjusting older projects
just start fresh with eq on each track, anon.
you'll develop a workflow.
>>
>>4063873
>side chain
this is something that so many people swear by these days.
first rule of sidechain compression should always be noted: "not every project needs a sidechain".
>>
>>4064390
>gain stage
>pan
>eq
>compress
those are the 4 fundamentals in order.
if you send anything to a bus for timing effects like reverb or delay you repeat the steps on the bus and make sure you're sending to the bus post fader.
>>

LFO sidechain works too, and if you want a punchy kick, sidechain is essential, either by a small EQ automation or volume ducking.

Really like the vibes here. The first vocals may need to be fixed as it doesn't fit well imo. Needs to cleaned up at the last drop. The bass there has higher frequencies that would probably be dope but they aren't present. Bros, is it hard to make music? I'm making a videogame and of course I need music for it, but I don't have the funds to hire someone for it. I got zero experience with making music and I can't even read notes or play an instrument. Is it realistic to try and make it myself or will it take like a year or something? I am genuinely clueless.
>>
>>4089741
Its harder to figure out the software/hardware of things and how to use it properly than it is to make basic music. Playing a keyboard or reading notes isn't a requirement with most beat boxes or MIDI controllers like what Akai and others offer.

So I decided to not make the video
Not because I don't like you but because of how long it would be. The more I got into it, the more complicated it started to become because each genre is different. I decided that my video on how to create melodies was probably better for you.

Learn how your music software works and doodle with it and eventually you will get the hang of making music.

Thanks bro (haven't looked at it yet but I assume >>4090536 is your video).
>>4092726
I'm starting Uni soon and I don't know if I'll be able to continue working on the game often enough to finish it. I want to but education has a higher priority. It's more of a hobby project now, I'm most comfortable with it just staying one. I don't wish to hype it up, invest in it, and have people depend on me only for the game to turn into vaporware.
>>
>>4054528
I'm imagining a montage of a 17th century character traveling through an uncharted wilderness with weird drug induced visions from the plants he eats.
I like it anon
>>
shouldn't you guys put your name or something on the image?
I like some of these and I'd want to find out who made them
>>
>>4093173
So no that's not my video
This is the one I was talking about but ironically didn't post it. https://youtu.be/W100CaudW8M
It's a general way to help people make melodies especially with writer's block.

>>4093259 you can ask people who they are but keep in mind that alot of projects we share aren't finished or are part of larger projects like albums or EPs. So some of the stuff here isn't found anywhere else. But just comment or reply to someone to see where they post their stuff and most of the time someone will respond
>>
any good programs to make music with?
>>
>>4089754
damn lol your right, not intentional but definetly inspired by that, i watched the movie once when i was ten, so i guess part of the melody stuck in my memory

>>
>>4093640
Yea there are several. Personally I think fl studio is the best but that's just my preference. People will tell you different but understand that you can do pretty much the same shit in any DAW. I like fl studio because of how user friendly it is in terms of creativity. I feel like it's easier to accomplish song goals or creating anything with fl studio vs other DAWs. This doesn't mean it's not intuitive or complex because it is but shits easier to understand than other DAWs

>>4106609
Is this for a dungeon level or is it the battle theme? I can see this working either way, am I thinking of the right type of gamejam here?
>>4094190
This is really nice but it needs a payoff.
>>4093169
Everything in this one feels like it's doing it's own thing but in unison, so it's interesting to listen to and sort out. Needs more changing though, even if it's just melodies being turned on and off, that would be enough for what it is.
>>4091881
Well paced and pleasant, really like the bass of the strings and wish there was more focus on it at the end.
>>4086481
A great example of how some drums and simple pads can be enough to keep a song flowing and keep it from being repetitive. I also like how you have more than one section in the span of 2 minutes.
>>4063827
The beginning almost syncs up with the start of the song nicely, but is a couple points off from being perfect. The mixing also needs a boost the match the volume of the video. The drums also need to be toned down in proportion to the rest of the instruments.

It was a battle theme! The drums seem off, but I liked how it turned out for a two hours of work
>>
>>4109083
Your tune reminded me of the calm music from Usagi Yojimbo on the C64 somehow, maybe just the vibe.

The 2 before yours (WeGoOn & gn) were made in Bitwig but the midi visual was from MidiTrail.

Attempted a early 80s synthy hi-NRG disco type thing in the percussion and bassline which I think are really good, but I'm not so sure about the melody and chords, the beginning had a tenser feel but I'm just not sure about the rest.
