These security systems have been available off the shelf for regular consumers since mid late 2000s.

In 2008, i worked at a small biz and it had some cheapo security system and you could review the film the next night and it would generate a highlight reel of the times it detected motion. It would place these same boxes around and make a guess as to what it was (i assume it did this based on size of object rather than CV).

The way I look at it, it's supposed to be a commentary on how the field of computers has gone from being a specific scientific study dedicated to computation for scientific needs to a widespread phenomenon that has corrupted the everyday lives of people through corporatization. Be it through writing software that is proprietary, or generally speaking leverages the privacy of the common Joe for profit. Personally I would have preferred if computation would have remained that specific field of study. Writing things down on paper really help you reflect better on your thoughts than writing them digitally for example.

So a mechanical device moving that quickly is more amazing that creating a device that has less than 5nm of space between it's electrical pathways? That's kinda sad you think that device is thrilling when it has a slower motion than the engine in a Corolla.

When I was younger, I used to wire solenoids to the capacitors of the flash units in disposable cameras and use it to shoot things across the room. The capacitor discharged before the metal reached the center of the coil so the metal would just keep going.
You could get a surprising amount of force out of one of those little things.
>>
>>3694279
Have you ever looked inside of something like a mechanical calculator? How the hell can all those parts move like that without something fucking up.
So many fiddly bits that have to be machined using traditional techniques. No CNC or lasers.
