This is all I ask of a modern shooter and yet imo we have the shell of it's former self currently letting employees enact retarded sjw mob rule with how the they approach lore/story and game design. Also choosing to champion outside issues that do not directly effect the bottom line while at the same time disregard doing real research into how said money is really spent.

Trying to make a game "inclusive of everyone" leads to a terrible, no good, very bad game exclusive to a few.

Thing is, nobody cared. Even the gay kids didn't mind it and would bant back or riff on the OTHER gay kids. Nobody really hated anybody and it's fucking weird to me that now kids could probably get expelled for the things we said.

Because video games are the competitor to Nickelodeon broadcast TV. They want you watching TV not playing video games.

I tell myself this everyday. I've had a good time here and there over the past few years, but the state of the world since ~2018 has really just stiffened everything. Everything is owned by big corp, now everyone is so health conscious and there's a sexual liberation revolution. It ruins the "magic" that you look for when you transition from your adolescence to your teen years, and then as you mature into an adult. Today's youth aren't able to experience that optimistic future-feeling

Not sure if you were alive in the 90's, but nickelodeon actually had a straight solid block of literally nothing on their channel for an hour or so other than time-wasting ad space for kids to "go out and play". Not saying they didn't compete with games, but they also actually sacrificed air time for their marketing campaign.

Life was unironically better in the 90's and early 2000's...Before the banks brought the global economy into a recession, before before Russia invaded Georgia, before our entire manufacturing industry was skeletonized and shipped off to China, before people were more concerned with getting likes on facebook and infecting the world with their social justice slacktivism with real problems getting attention solely due to the vain and egotistical parasitizing it for more personal fame and notoriety, before political correctness started being implemented into law, before children were being taken away by police for not injecting them with life-altering puberty blockers...

There's a civil war coming, and it will be long over-due.

It's actually weird how car commercials use music from their target's youth. In the last month I've noticed a BMW commercial using Blink 182 and a Toyota commercial using Outkast. Weird shit for my age group to be a highlighted consumer market.

overwatch = classic lmao

overwatch is only big because the standards have been lowered and it's published by blizzard so every blizzdrone plays it.

I went in with the hope to be a great game but then got terribly bored. I've never felt the urge to play a game and then feel immediately like shutting it down and uninstalling after starting a match.

The game can have fun moments but overall its an unbalanced piece of shit that just wants to reward casual gamers with the feel of being "good".
>>
>>3654371
to add to that, it's the same that plagues games like heroes of the storm as well.

There is no substance behind it like in a game like Dota (which is shit now too cause they ruined it with updates). It's just about making people have fun and be instantly rewarding. People I know play heroes only to play their favorite heroes and feel like a god for some minutes. There is nothing challenging or rewarding about it.

A good game lets you fall on your face, improve, fall on your face, get better, get decent and slowly master it. How can you ever truly feel rewarded if it never was a challenge? It's a mere illusion.

Remember how responsive tv remotes were on those old CRTs? I remember when I was a kid i could change channels/volume instantly with no delay or lag time even when giving multiple commands in quick succession. These days it feels like you have to wait a half second or more between every input if you want the remote to actually function.
>>
>>3655052
That's such a specific thing but now that I think about it you're totally right.
It was definitely around when flat-screens became the norm, I don't know enough to say but I wonder if there's an actual reason for that or if it's some sort of planned obsolescence thing? It's been shown that technology just isn't built to last anymore.

yeah, it's fuckin wild man...
I remember the days when jokes were jokes you know.
We all used to poke fun at each other for SOMETHING, but it was in good spirits almost all the time, and we cared about each other, felt close even.
Like going to school in Australia before political correctness, we would say the wildest shit, riff on kids, sometimes things would go a bit too far, but if a kid was legit crying and shit we'd all just pull it back and be there for them.
It was... banter... i remember when it was normal to... literally joke around with people and just say offensive shit for lols but everyone just fuckin... KNEW what a joke was and we'd laugh about it and move on cause we were all comfy and we knew that none of us actually hated each other and we were just having a laugh. Crazy that something that basic isn't as prevalent anymore bro.
>>

I think disconnecting from the current culture is a vibe. Like, I used to take it as such a given that I had to be really active on social media and go on it every day... and now that I hardly go on, well, nothing really changed, the floor didn't fall out from underneath me. I literally lost next to nothing from being out of the loop.
But gained so much mental space.

Like when you just step away from all the bullshit and narrative and the media controlled and fueled shitstorm that's spread all across the internet, you realise that it's actually a pretty good time and we have access to so much dope shit.
Just gotta step out of the cesspool and you see all kinds of shit. Like fuck, there's free university courses online, you can download free game engines and make your own games, you can buy anything online and get it delivered, you can 3d print shit, you can experience VR, get old movies back when movies were actually good and watch them...

So much awesome shit is inexpensive or free right now, but the hard part is just unplugging.
But when you just unplug from the fucking cesspool of all this fake, controlled media shitfuckery it's like... woah,

with a broadband connection I can actually do almost anything. Just gotta steer clear of dumbasses, and the sense of social obligation to participate in whatever tribal shitstorm were getting pushed into believing we have to be part of today.

Culture is fucked in 2020, but what's crazy is most people don't realise that they don't have to participate in it, and by opting out there's actually no real consequence save for a pretty huge quality of life improvement.

>>3635235
In 2001 they would put break detectors on your windows and magnetic detectors on your doors. I think it got to be too much and a lot of places made people tone it down because I also remember a lot of scrutiny of home alarm systems calling police all the damn time and it got to where they barely responded to them.
My state just changed the laws so if someone comes into your house you can basically kill them without scrutiny, and it put a nearly complete stop on burglaries as it wasn't worth the risk, and pawn shops ask a lot of questions.
>>
>>3635235
>>3656756

What I'm getting at, is to people with no background or knowledge of what technology was really capable of, that, the house basically was shrouded in invisible binary numbers of electric, computer home protection like some shit out of iRobot.
