Let's have the best of classical music.
Imagine being born a nigger. While Europeans were making music like this, niggers in Africa were living in mud huts with no written language and hadn't even discovered the wheel.
>>3550195As true as that is, let's not spoil a good thread by naming the nigger.
>>3550195>Imagine that copypasta about american culture is about black people is real
Oi you niggersAnyone got sauce?
Also, hillary hahn looks super downy
Can watch Vengerov for hours, gonna make a few more
>>3551696His interpretation of the Sibelius concerto is also very nice.
this is an extremely racist thread
i appreciate the talent in this thread but why does every fucking violinist have to tweak around like a jackass while playing? the only one who isnt pretending they are a guitarist at a rock concert is the damn jap gir.
>>3552341Have you ever tried reciting a dramatic poem? Don't you find it better to gesture along with the words? It helps the artist connect with the art. Same thing goes for music, the slight prancing helps the musician feel his music. The Asian girl certainly doesn't break the stereotype of Asian bug-people.
>>3552341How dare people get into what they're doing.
It's time to save this thread from all the kitsch
>>3552314shut up falseflagging /pol/tard
>>3550195Take you blatant racism back to /pol/ where it will be appreciated, nefarious imbecile. This is a comfy music thread, and music is universal.
>>3553308>music is universalLMAO no, you kike, it's not.
>>3552341Why don't you become a violinist and play however you please? They are, above all else, performers. You should worry about the essence of their artistry, that is, the sound they are making, not their gestures and mannerisms. What are you, the performance patrol?
>>3553312Yes it is. Every music that is not lyrical can be appreciated by any person on Earth regardless of language or cultural barriers. That's the definition of universal.
>>3553205Man, that sounds terrible! Why did you post this?
Has anyone else noticed that a large majority of classical players have no fucking sense of rhythm?
>>3553373No, I have no idea what you're talking about
>>3551524Here are the lyrics for a start:https://www.poesie-francaise.fr/victor-hugo/poeme-mes-vers-fuiraient-doux-et-freles.php
>>3553423You absolute mad cunt
>>3552341I thought exactly the same thing before I figured out how to play properly. I think it is also a highly personal thing; some people need to gesture wildly and look as if they're orgasmic for their best playing to be made possible. Others can play greatly yet calmly. Lang Lang for example; he swoons like a giddy old lady but that's probably what he has to do to get his "best performance". I happen to dislike his playing but that's beside the point.

>>3562274Article editor was cringe to use that title, but the actual content is talking about racism in American performing arts around pre modern era music. Europe was talked in a very positive light about being diverse.
What I love about classical music is that's literally classy. No now-brow lyrics about asses, tits or curse words, but rather articulated works of art, literature and history without pandering to people who prefer the language of the gutter and/or songs about making party.
>>3565557Never heard this joke before :)
>>3565557You can bastardise and degenerate anything on the whole wide earth. Edgy, witty, "for fun" faggots are as bad as niggers in many regards. Get this shite out of my thread.
>>3565557try googling "mozart and scatology"
>>3550195To be fair, we wouldn't have jazz - the greatest music known to man - without them.
>>3553320Also as a musician I never fully believed in the validity of this statement. Music is a language like any other, and while the vast majority of it can be appreciated aesthetically, that is merely through appearances, that does not make the entirety of music just something that anyone can understand as if it were their native tongue. I mean hell, I've been playing music for half my life, and there are so many things I have yet to scratch the surface of. You can universally communicate on a superficial level with music through pop chords and progressions, simple melodies in simple time signatures that are generally easy on the brain. But listen to something like Gregorian chants, microtonal/atonal music, traditional Vietnamese folk or even Szymanowski, and you will have to admit, that music is not so universal as you think it is.
>>3566368they can take their nigger music back to Africa and you can go with them and you can all enjoy it together while General Butt Naked eats one of his opposing warlords or whatever
>>3566088And did society accept and promote that? No.
Classical music is some of the most degenerate shit on the planet>yeeeaaaah!!1! let's jerk off of the the music that was invented by rich faggots for other faggotsalmost the entirety of the baroque era was literally music being for kings and lords. if you want to listen to real white music, go listen to the traditional folk music of your own country instead of what rich faggots wrote for each other.
>>3567726To be fair, highly educated rich faggots and rich royal faggots alike both shared a theoretical appreciation for music. Bach wrote crab canons for King Frederick. There is a reason the elite tend to be rich fags jerking off other rich fags, which is that they tend to be the only ones with the education and mental acuity to appreciate the complicated theoretical aspects of their chosen professions.

>>3553373>what is rubato
>>3574202It's funny that the stereotype of fans of Classical music being elitist and full of themselves exists when there are people like you. Also, if you have to take artistical taste as a reason for political dispute maybe art is not for you.
>>3548320Awful, showy, no soul
>>3574672Are you referring to the performance or the piece?
>>3574640>political disputeI have no idea what you're talking about.
>>3574849I'm refering to the fact that you need to implicitly classify people by whether they 'get jazz' and 'don't get jazz'. You're turning your off-topic preference into an 'us' and those who don't share it into a 'them' to stir people up.Also, a label has no relation to the quality of any piece, if you expect that by showing off the flag of jazz people are going to follow you like sheep, you're stupid beyond redemption.
>>3574874That's a lot of words for admitting that you don't "get" jazz.
>>3574883I doubt you get it either when you claim that the Africans created it. Jazz was created out of blues which was created by mixing traditional European chord progressions with pentatonic minor singing melodies of African origin in the USA.
>>3553861I really like the more energetic arrangement in the Princess Nine anime
>>3558864I've seen two NY times articles. One was a plea to stop using blind auditions for orchestras, because blacks don't succeed in them as much as whites (lmoa). The other one was a classic "orchestras are too white", "orchestras don't play black music".It wasnt all just talking, there were quotes from people interested in implementing these "changes".
>>3566382You are correct. Music communicates the same way poetry does. Just because you hear the message does not mean you understand it without the huge cultural background and context behind it.People who use this argument usually read about it in youtube pop song comments, or think that because pentatonic Chinese music sounds "good", cultures have no difference.Just wait until you hear a guy like that define what "universal" music means.
>>3575552>huge cultural background and context behind it.There's nothing to understand besides >muh dik
>>3575859Are you talking about African music? I guess your point is correct in that case. Anyway, culture is a complex thing and some cultures might be easy to get into, but very hard to truly grasp.
>>3556684That's just kinda how real violinists move at intense parts. Not like those morons on American competition shows that pretend they can play anything close to this while stripping in front of millions on national tv..
>>3550195>>3550258Yet, you people hadn't figured out how to give C-sections? Cringe.
>>3575859>>3575552>>3566382Many people can enjoy many things from many cultures and linguistic backgrounds that aren't their own. Your music theory bullshit isn't exclusive and you aren't special you elitist prick.Anyone capable of understanding their own musical impetus can gain an understanding and appreciation of any other if they set their minds to it and aren't impeded by physical barrier of some kind.
>>3576314lmao do you have basic reading comprehension skills? why are you projecting some low self esteem problems by telling me I'm not special?I said music communicates the same way poetry does. You can read some trash american poetry and like it no problem. But without being born and raised in america, without living through the author's similar experiences, in other words without deep understanding of the cultural context, you do not relate to it on a deeper level (assuming the poem was written good). It's not so easy to explain on poetry, but music as a language is much more complex. Nothing racist in here, this is universal for africans, chinese, amazonian tribes, same as europeans.Really though, read up on ethnomusicology, this is basic stuff explained at the beginning. You are the elitist prick for thinking "uhh I don't need to read me any books to understand music am i right bois??". That's incredibly rude, lazy, elitist, and narcissistic. At least I care enough about music to actually strive to know more and to not spout some uneducated bullshit, which, at least in comparison to you, makes me special.

>>3606149Lmao that's a wikipedia self educated retard opinion. You think it went classical>jazz>rock>now right? Bless your little brain for simplyfing the complex evolution of music genres by hundreds of musicians simultaneously into "if it's modern it's jazz".
>>3611467Ah sorry, you're right. I should actually have said that if it's not derived from jazz, it's shitty pop-music.
>>3611499I don't know if that's better. You try to defend jazz by saying it was used to create modern music. But by the same logic you use, I can say modern music is derived from the gregorian chant, or from Wagner's chromaticism, since both were predecessors of jazz. How was John Lennon influenced by jazz when he listened to Elvis and tried to replicate the chords with his guitar? About the same as he was influenced by Beethoven (roll over Beethoven).I think it's better to think musicians get influenced by other musicians, not genres by genres. Since every musician represents his own unique branch in music history, it is much more accurate to track the influences through time.
>>3579242The video on youtube is still up
>>3548514This was so abused in animated movies in the 20th century that I can't listen it with a stright face.
>>3611834You're right except that in music, as with anything, there are memes (ideas) that persist throughout its history. In my opinion, jazz memes have influenced most of modern music through those very musicians, who were influenced by musicians that used jazz memes before them.
>>3613969If you focus very narrowly on harmonic progressions and chords like "add6add9add13", even then you're not really correct. Any harmonic progression in jazz I am pretty sure I can find somewhere in classical music history. Same goes for chords with added notes, even Schumann in late years used jazzy chords, and then of course the impressionists. If you mention rhythm I will mention the third variation in 2nd movement of Beethoven's op.111. And that's only 20% of what makes music - jazz melody has modal mixtures used in renaissance music, form is very simplistic in jazz (especially macro), instrumentation too, compared with previous era, ...I'm not trying to hate on jazz, I sometimes enjoy it too honestly, even if it's not my preference. Just trying to show how everything we listen to today is tightly connected to history and how we haven't really moved far in many aspects from the geniuses of the past. So saying jazz influenced something also means the huge historical context behind it.Can't argue with musicians being influenced by other musicians who perform jazz.
