>>22259942 months later, does it look the same ?>>2226043try openbox and herbstluftwm
>>2226133Love this minimal setup. Font?
My desktop is pretty basic for the most part. But, I like it.
I was dual booting with Win 7 for gaming but haven't really needed it for anything. What's a good stable distro I can replace it with? My main distro is Arch so I'd like something ez and stable as my backup. >>2226002Hey that's my desktop>>2226074xfce
>>2225999I'm incredibly jealous, I wish BSD had better drivers, I absolutely stand by UNIX.>>2226181booba>>2225993cool pape
>>2226001>>2226000>>2226210based>>2226002>>2226181Nice icons and pape. >>2225999lol somebody posted mine. Changed some stuff like dwm to cwm and lf to nnn recently. Pic related.>>2226182Nice browser colors. The 7.1 release of openbsd was specially good for some recent amd gpus and intel wifi drivers. My hardware is running it pretty smoothly but I still dual boot linux for music production and playing touhou on wine. The only driver I miss is the wacom ones. You can only use it as a mouse pointer but the pen pressure won't work. >>2226181I switched from arch to void to get a more stable system with no systemd and still rolling release. I won't say it's easy though. It's easier to install than arch, but the system itself is even more minimal and it has splited devel packages. I don't regret it though.
>>2226282my void one btw
>>2226282I've kept Arch as my main and just did a quick install of Pop to replace Windows for now. Thinking I'll play around with Slackware in a VM and then replace Pop with that sometime. I'm not a big fan of the current mainstream stable distros.
>>2226286what is that on the bottom window ?
>>2226326some linux port for shimeji
still using an old version of fences
>>2226347hnnnngggg my desktop is in a screenshothow many screens is that? also cute animus
>>2226353how did you get your taskbar like that? looks nice
>>2226385Oh, I just used open/classic shellhere is a link to it https://open-shell.github.io/Open-Shell-Menu/
>>2226385as for how I got it like that1) right-click the start menu after you have installed open shell and then click on settings2) if the show all settings box is not checked, click on it and go to taskbar3) turn on customize task bar, and select glass under taskbar look4) put the taskbar opacity to around 45 or 505) set the taskbar texture to this image (can't put it on the reply, too small) https://imgur.com/a/soGO1Es6) have both horizontal and vertical stretching on stretch and have the border size 0,0and there you go! the taskbar itself should look like how I have it.
I don't watch nyanners but her cute face on a 65" screen is nice.
>>2226416why did you do this with a vtuber that you don't watch?
Windows 10 running xoblite, not showing explorer theme as it doesn't match the bg colour scheme at all currently. Right now I'm looking for something that will fit it all together aesthetically
>>2226629This seems pretty based
anyone know the deets on this: >>>/g/86954350
>>2226282wasn't satisfied with these colors so I'm trying to do something a bit inspired on plan9 now, but with cwm.
I like it simple
This is most commonly how my desktop is going to look, nothing fancy, just a theme and a nicer taskbar
Here's a more "ricey version" >.>>>2227036I can do the fancy terminal thing without being on linux :3
>>2225993no clue what's going on with these desktops but they look so cool, can any1 fill me in? is it an OS or just system mods
Man iwish i could get my linux to look this good
>>2227040GNU/Linux ricing (customization) check out >>>/g/ for more info
>>2227062you can do the same thing on windows via blackbox btw :)
>>2226629oooo please send your config, this is sex
>>2227070wouldn't look as good
>>2227083If you're in it for looks alone then you're a fucking retard.
>>2227087yes and ? as if any of the Linux trannies here have a job and/or do anything productive on their riced Gentoo desktop.
>>2227098anon trannies dont exist, they are paid or otherwise incentivised to make you associate <thing you dislike> with <thing globohomo cant control> to get you to avoid it at all costsi am also employed btw :)
My entire rig was built from dumpster finds.
Trying out other DEs lately, messed with Cinnamon a bit more and I quite like it. Still don't like KDE. LXQT is quite nice, though.Something I wanna ask here cuz it seems like you guys might know, but what DEs or WMs can use those older Windowmaker dockapps? Is it only Windowmaker? I'm in love with the way they look and want to use some, if I can.I'm also obsessed with audio visualizations.
>>2227189Nevermind, I got a few working through fluxbox and openbox. Kind of a crapshoot which ones still work, though.
I dunno what to do with this
>>2227071do it yourself dude it's like 3 colors
Is Nico around? I used to be friends with him and we'd chat in every desktop bread. Miss u, nico

No one knows why they killed him...
>>2227431can i get that bar please.
>>2227480It's just xfce panel. I am using the raleigh-V3 theme in this zip though - https://bun.filedit.ch/LunDRVCATiXxAKPLcCfL.zipThe little snake is whisker menu with the icon changed, it's in there too. FYI, those are not mine, some fella shared some of his dots a while ago, I think he posts Orin sometimes in desktop threads, could be mistaken though ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ .. Hope he doesn't mind me re-sharing them ..>>2227457I like your wallpaper

Do you just modify the .desktop file..?That has to be my favorite Linux rice I've ever seenSo much work must've gone into thisAll of these apps look so greatMinitube and that image viewer look nice, what is it called? What music player do you use? What's your system font? it looks so comfyWhat WM/DE even is that?Sorry to be like this, it's just, that the more I look at it, the more your setup amazes me

>>2225993Just installed this by uninstalling Fedora cause games keep crashing there
>>2228512Your transition to linux has been smooth?
>>2226210what bar are you using? i use dwm too but i've been trying to keep it very minimal. now that i've seen your bar i feel like seeing how far i can customize dwm's bar and maybe switch to a different bar if i have to

Consider swapping htop for btop.>>2228267Another Windows rice that doesn't look like shit, good job.I'd post mine but it belongs more on /wg/ than it does here. In general the desktop threads on here and /wg/ mog the shit out of the ones on /g/, I stopped going on those because there's so many low effort/shit posts.
>>2229014Nevermind, the desktop thread on /wg/ is total crap. /w/ stands alone at the top.
>>2228307nice apps, what gui toolkit are you using?
>>2226000Consistent.>>2226002I usually hate on retro-looking desktops, but this one is made with some taste in mind.>>2226043I don't often reply to Windows posters, but this one deserves my attention.>>2226182I couldn't approve of monospaced fonts for GUI, but the colours are ok.>>2226210Very very good, one of my favourites.>>2226286This looks also very good. >>2229065>any system specs?not logged now but in this one I'm using void linux with a custom Calm Window Manager build I modified a bit to play better with picom. The shell is the openbsd ksh and I'm trying to use nord colorscheme where I can.
