Post your vector requests and recently done vectors here.
Previous Thread >>2180395

>Before requesting, here are some tips:
– Only request an image once per thread. Bumping your own request won't help either.
– All requests are welcome, within reason, but remember:
– The poorer the quality of an image (in resolution and drawing ability), the less likely it will be picked up. The more detail seen and higher the resolution, the better.
– Full-body images preferred. Images cut off on 3 or more sides are very unlikely to be picked up due to their limited usage; keep this in mind when finding an image to request. (Hair or skirt edges that are barely cut off don't usually count)
– Requests for removing the background from an image (called a RENDER) and resizing requests should go to the IMT threads.
– Refrain from using renders for requests. Try to find the original non-rendered image; it is easier for vectorists to work with.
– Note: Overly complicated images are unlikely to be picked up due to their nature. IF your request is taken, please have patience.

I am.

Progress is a little slow since I'm working on it whenever I get a bit of free time and motivation. Here's an update for you.
Props, my dude. That's tedious work.
Oh, it looks really good so far, props.
And don't worry about the delay, I was more showing that I was still following the threads and you weren't doing whatever you'd be doing for "nothing".
I'm trying to learn vectorization too, but this one is too much for me to bite right now, I'm doing some simpler ones.
I noticed you have small fracture lines at the edges of a lot of your shapes. It's easiest to spot on her headphones. That's usually caused by having shapes' outlines overlapping perfectly on top each other after using the pathfinder options or the shape builder tool. I don't know the specifics but I think it's tied to the anti-aliasing, It creates a very thin white outline on the contour of shapes.

Best way I found to fix this is to make sure that the shape that is on a lower layer extends a bit under the one on the top layer so that it fills the tiny gap. If it happens next to an open space then you want the shape on top to extend out a bit. I've not found a fix in the case that the shape on top contains transparency.
Hey anon, decided to check in after almost a year. It looks great so far, I hope it gets finished soon!
Yeah that's a problem I've never managed to figure out....
That vector is being made mostly with clipping masks, so the white line is most likely from the clipping path.

Sorry it's been taking me so long to finish that vector up.
I had to move to a new apartment shortly after that last update so I haven't been able to work much on that vector.
I managed to at least get a bit of the shading on the top part of the hair done.

I'll try to see If I can get these two vectors done as soon as possible.

I don't know if it's a good candidate for vectorization but I've always wanted a high-resolution version of this.
would kill for this in higher quality and proper lineart
you should find the original source image and request using that instead of this shitty vector trace
hopefully this is better
so you're the guys that make the uncredited vector art on gelbooru!
I've been wondering who was behind it.
did you do this with a png to vector converter or manually? :O
I like the colors on this, I'll give it a shot.

I traced it using the pen tool in Illustrator. None of the vectors that are posted here would look remotely as good if we used an automated tool.
Would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Second ever vector. First one was a very rough vacoomer drawing to get used to Inkscape

Nice, I don't want to dump on you or anything like that with the following. It's great you're doing this.

Give using shapes for the line work a try instead of strokes. I believe the steps for doing so are in the tutorials on the OP post. It does take more effort, but very worth it. I used strokes in my first few conversions and it definitely made it easier but it didn't look as good. Especially around the creases in fabric, hair, or skin like the ear.

Also the very bottom edge looks weird where the it crosses from the edge of the clothing to the centre. That line shouldn't exist, instead just extend the two vertical lines down and crop it. I tend to use the document edge in inkscape for that, makes it easy to crop when exporting.

I have a 1080p screen. Is there a way to make inkscape's ui less playskool? There's so much dead space and bigass buttons in these docks that the object list can only show a couple objects at once. In my earlier version of inkscape and windows I could see around 20 entries even with the F&S dock sitting there

wow, that's a big difference going from 0.92.

In preferences is there an Interface -> Themeing page? Selecting the minwaita theme adds a few more rows. It seems to be the same as choosing the Compacted view on quick settings tab of the launch screen. I think it's only available on inkscape 1.1 though. The win32 theme helps a bit too but has some UI oddness and padding around the percentage bar controls. Neither are nowhere as dense as previous versions though.

1.1 also has a new feature to allow docking the dialogs on the left and right which might be more useful than downgrading to 0.92.

>pick relatively easy manga panel for first vector practice
>still ends up spending the whole day doing it
The blob thing turns out to be a bitch to make.
How do you guys make consistent line anyway? I tried doing it as instructed in the OP tutorial but I'm having a hard time adjusting it and the thickness ends up all over the place, so I just cheated by making a stroke into path and then lightly adjusting it.

And how do you translate the way they sometimes use lines scribbles as shading in manga into vector? I tried making it into region shading but it looks off. Not exactly happy with the way I do it here.
Manga shading just doesn't translate to vector very easily. And as to how to get better at line consistency there's not really any secret to it, just practice a lot and gradually get better at it. The only real tip to give you is make sure you're working at a consistent zoom level, so that you can actually get a feel for how thick lines should be; if you're doing one section at 300% zoom, then another at 800% zoom and finally another section at 1200% zoom you're just making it unnecessarily difficult on yourself.

Is Illustrator CS5 still a good software for vector tracing?
Forget it, is Clip studio paint good for vector tracing?
Tbh i don't like Inkscape very much
Inkscape and Illustrator are really the only programs we recommend people use in this thread, things like PhotoShop, GIMP etc. are not designed for vector art.
The only problem for CSP is that it can't fill vector but it can fill them in "raster mode".
Is a big problem?

This was pretty fun. Lemme know if anything seems funky or if you want the .svg to play around with.
Any experienced vector tracer can answer me please?
Never use anything that requires you use "raster mode" for making vectors. Programs that do that save the line as a raster, not a vector in the end. If you want to use CSP because you can draw lines like in that video, then you are missing the whole point, vectors are not made that way and if you do intend to draw lines and adjust, you will actually spend more time fixing the line you made.
Requesting a render for mommy please
Render requests go in the IMT, anon.
This is cool, i'll give her a shot.

Splendid, truly outstanding work - completely worth the wait! Honestly it's better than I could have ever hoped for - I'm absolutely lost in the level of detail. I think I can see a bit of the tube peeking out from under the lower line of the glass, but honestly I don't mind. So glad you enjoyed making it too, I know it's very different from drawing characters.

Feel free to try your hand at it!

Thanks anon, I'm glad you like it. I went over it with some fresh eyes and some coffee and found a couple dozen little things that weren't quite right, so here's a little touch-up! If you want to play spot the differences, it might be fun.
And yes, it was cool to work with the glass layers and the wiry bits, that's stuff you rarely get to try vectorizing when doing characters. I was also >>2211104 btw, I just got bored and did it then instead of waiting, lol.

here you go. The blurry stuff just makes the filesize massive, but it's very easy to create.

Vectorise. SVG file format is preferred.
I just read a few threads back and apparently there's a discord for vectoring? not a huge discord guy but would appreciate an invite, I've got a few projects I would like to share and get feedback on etc.
Should have been in the OP https://discord.gg/xANpQWd

Tried my hand at vectoring this screenshot: https://files.catbox.moe/sl0yyo.jpg
Might hunt down a good reference and finish the legs and feet someday.
Rad, thanks.
