I think this may be the longest running NHK thread we've had.
When I first watched Nhk I thought that at least I wasn’t doing as bad as satou and vowed not to go down the path I was head towards. But after some years since then I realized that it is more relevant than ever and it is now an actual window into my life. My life is now even more bleak since I haven’t talked to any one besides my mom in years and maybe a few words to cashiers. At least satou has some interaction with people within his age range that keep the show from getting to dull. I have nobody. I said many years ago I would get out, but I’m still here. I say this every year. Fuck I just want to get out. I’m stuck in my room where time doesn’t move at all, but at the same time it passes so quickly. I just want to stop being so unhappy. I have no connections, no degree yet, no job...Am I unhappy because I have no friends or do I have no friends because I am unhappy. No friends and unhappiness cause me to stay in my room. Staying in my room does not get me a job. No job means no reason to leave my room. Not leaving my room for such a long time makes me unhappy. And so the cycle continues forever :(But it makes me feel a bit less lonely knowing there’s other lonely hikiNEET out there. Sadly no Yamazaki or Misaki or Senpai will just pop into my life. I just want a friend.

The manga (I'm told) is somewhere between the anime and the novel.The novel is much harsher on many aspects. It lacks the anime's suicide, mmorpg, and scam story arcs, so it's a more straightforward story in more depth, involving satou, yamazaki, and misaki.

I watched this anime around a month ago. Had no idea what to expect coming in, but it was a very good slice of life anime. Definitely recommend if you like anime about NEETs and slice of life in general.
