Made me curious, so I went back to check the Last V Standing with her, and MaiR is half a head shorter then AZKi when they're standing back to back, and that's fairly consistent with Hachi being half a head smaller then MaiR when she's around AZKi's shoulders. You can also tell the models are likely fairly accurate with how they don't clip or come up short when they go to touch hands, so Hachi really is imagine tier.
>>
>>9738296
did hachi have a proper debut live stream? she has no height info on the official pages.
>>
>>9738957
A quick check of Playboard shows that she only has one deleted video as far as it remembers, and that was just a teaser for Hikari so probably never occurred to her because she'd been streaming on Reality forever and had done a couple of collabs on YT before finally moving herself.

Rewatching this, I wonder if Hachi playing with her hair is just a nervous tick. In her Live, she was always touching her ear and I assumed it was because the headphone mic she was wearing were falling off, but she does it it again quite a few times.

10/2-10/3 October Fas
https://twitter.com/itoitoi0715/status/1437665136290848771

Looks to be a relay style event with a bunch of small names getting 30 minutes to show off. Only name I recognize is 88nia, but checking a random other on the list in Metamoe wasn't bad either. Seems like a good way to find new people if you're into that.
>>
https://twitter.com/edo_lena/status/1437778684694482957

Edo released the line up of people who worked on her upcoming album. Bunch of faces I recognize, should be pretty hype.
>>
>>9771213
Metamoe is already in the primer, and yes she is very interesting. Her voice can switch between feathery softness (as in All the way), overt harshness (as in Usseewa), and whatever this is
https://twitter.com/MetamoeProject/status/1424724397206609922

Her cover of U has her switching voices on the fly. She's very entertaining to listen to.
>>
Fucking hell why nobody talked about HACHI in any other thread? I found her too late. She just blow every fucking hack away. She is the only one that can sing Aimer's songs without making me wanting to rip my ears out.
>>
>>9777801
She was adopted by /mori/ from my shilling and used to get the occasional mention in Global before we got an entire board to use, anon.
>>
>>9777906
I seldom go global back in the days, let alone mori, but why would an ENfags talk about vsinger though? I thought everyone there were satisfy with """"""vsinger""""""" Irys?

Also from her donations it seems like a lot of Taiwanese like her too.
>>
>>9778007
Because she's friends with AZKi and Boogey Voxx, and that made her tangentially on topic enough for me to talk about her. She was also pretty heavily featured during Don't Stop the Music which a surprising amount of people watched.
>>
>>9777801
It's fine this way, holofans aren't into vsingers anyway and will trash up their chat the same way they pollute the vsinger threads.
Her streams were occasionally linked in the main /jp/ thread and it's safe to assume deaf anons would rather listen to Rin lulz
>>
>>9778139
>Don't Stop the Music
I only have the list for the second one and it is only one song which is Beyond the Light.
>she's friends with AZKi
If they really collab and sing together then all the other vsinger will just instantly get obsoleted and Suisei will become just a stardust (I still like her though).
>>
>>9778231
I think the only weakness of her is that she cannot rap. Loki for example, not her best performance. Even Delta sing better Loki than her. Otherwise she is really solid.
>>
>>9778306
AZKi performed Beyond the Light during her concert section, Hachi was featured in the VMDJ section, and all three of her originals at the time were played; Beyond, Rainy Proof, and 20. The bee was pretty well spotlighted, with Rainy Proof even being played twice since it was in the VMDJ section and a normal one.
>>
>>9778231
I have never seen anyone praising Rin’s singing.
>>
>>9777801
/vsinger/ connoisseurs are still few but eventually grow, because once you listen to good vsingers, you can't unhear it. I recommend you listen to Chima and check out others in the OP's linked list.

Youtube just randomly recommended Kanduki Ama to me. She has not been mentioned here before. Here is her live cover of Kanade.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D5EXvZdgmkk&t=3071s

So what do you guys think about her? IMO she is decent and quite on-pitch. I guess her shortcomings would be that she lacks a decent vibrato, and other tricks that would make her singing more fancy
>>
Saki is streaming her recording process
I love this kind of thing

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1byjwugEZYRKWKR9D8x6WLNAnxnlpmYcdeH6LOrVFhn8/edit#gid=0
Whenever I check for covers, I always start with Hachi and Saki. Chances are they have covered all the popular songs.

I like Saki because she is a very versatile singer across very different types of songs.
Preserved Roses, Shangri-la, シルシ, 猫, I will always love you..... are all impressive. My biggest complaint is her audio setup which sounds cheap and muffled (though not as bad as how Chima's setup used to be). I wish people would tell her about it. Get whatever Chima or Hachi is using.
>>
>>9780027
Chima's kinda overrated though.
>>
>>9810369
Feel free to offer better recommendations so we can listen to more good vsingers.

>>
>>9810704
She failed the Aimer test, at least for me. Listen to a few and feel like her talent and skills are comparable to Suisei's.
>>
>>9815228
I would just disagree there. Suisei doesn't sing opera and sentimental ballads the way Chima does, not even close.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5z39--ZYaes

The comparison is also tenuous because Suisei power sings each note instead of smoothly transitioning between them, so her studio covers are usually intense songs like Ghost. While Chima is buttery smooth between syllabes. They are so different in strengths that you may as well compare Sinatra to Bob Dylan.

Aimer is a strange thing to focus on when neither Chima nor Suisei is the best at that kind of music. If you just focus on your own fixation, you get a corresponding impression of the singers.

That Guren no Yumiya is rather disappointing for some reason. Let's see how other vsingers sing it.
>>
>>9816789
I chose Aimer because her songs are actually harder to sing than it looks and lots of vtubers can't sing it properly, even the easier ones like Kataomoi. Sure they have different styles but it is an easy way to filter out good and bad singers.
>>
>>9835294
Nah, what you filter out are people who can sing Aimer to your liking and people who can't.
If I pick opera as the metric then I don't filter out good & bad singers; I filter out people who can sing opera to my liking and people who can't. And it turns out, unsurprisingly, that many vsingers can't, but that doesn't mean they can't sing other kinds of music well. Or using Ado songs as the metric for instance. In fact, there even are more established reasons to care about opera rather than an arbitrary Jpop artist, as they teach classical singing and vocal techniques. But it is still not the final test.
>>
>>9835121
Hmm, so far I haven't found a Guren no Yumiya cover that I really like. Something that is both raw and epic. Stella and Chima's voices are too light for the feeling I want.

The closest are CocoTsuki and Astel
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nIjlED2sGoA&t=938s
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G9VwIZEf-1g&t=3373s

I'm somewhat surprised Saki has not covered the song before.
>>
After pointing out idols aren't singers, later you'll read pure filth that not rapping is somehow a weakness. Or that triangle sings Loki better. She still has to learn how to miss fewer notes before you can start comparing two individuals from such a huge skill gap.

>>9780027
>>9836000
I agree, using arbitrary measures such as "can't sing properly" "too light" "not raw and epic" failing to point out what's the exact issue is pure idiocracy. Using pop studio covers as a metric expecting to be as close to identical to the original as possible. I can only imagine this anon would only like a karaoke of this song if it had the exact same vocal filters used live.

Do you have anyone else in mind who can sing opera aside from Chima? Sopranos, whistling and male Pavarotti lites welcome too.

>Do you have anyone else in mind who can sing opera aside from Chima?
The common opera singer brought up is ironmouse.
>>
>>9839656
I don't think we've discovered any new ones (or at least I don't know). But just to summarize:

Libro https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2oaGBeaNK7Q
Nina https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sgDMD8rMIlo&t=724s
Flores (graduated) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l7dbCnymx2Y
Ironmouse https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qtp4h4KQGGM
Sora https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oNOhalk_62w&t=2345s

Your opinions may vary.
>>
>>9839656
You may be conflating different people. There is someone who thinks not singing Aimer the way he wants implies bad singing. While the other wants to find a deep voice for a song but doesn't imply those who don't have it are bad.

Why doesn't she just make these actual covers and release them as such instead of meme videos? Its already better mixed than the shit Yura's been putting out.

It'd get much further out if she just threw on a basic editted cover image and titled it that,
>>
>>9846649
At least she's gonna do endurance stream with all of them later, hopefully using full versions
>>
Gura is actually singing freestyle jazz. More vsingers should do such freestyle variations instead of just sticking to the original songs.
>>
>>9848753
Not even freestyle, any sort of variation on songs in general is depressingly rare even in cases where changing one word makes the song fit singer way better

I have a couple of Western ones I follow, since they upload to Youtube, but I don't want to go through the effort of remembering to check another platform. There are a couple that I keep tabs on Youtube that also stream on bili as well, but I only know because they mention it/have it on their schedule.

Also streams there don't work for me

Ah, I'm rather surprised that she got mentioned here. Found her in my subs and so just ended up listening to her karaoke whenever I have the time

Personally, feels like she's in the same boat as Aoi from Prism, great in the fundamentals but lacking tricks like you mentioned earlier. If I remember, she's also one of utaites-turned-vtubers from NND migrating over to YT because NND is still stuck in the 2000s kek
>>
>>9883732
What's her utaite handle? Her chara design, the head in particular sucks.
>>
>>9883856
Seems to be the same. She moved her covers from NND to her sub channel

>>9884400
a taiwanese channel that normally did hololive translated clips and some other vtubers clipped her singing and it got huge numbers, after that she probably has been getting favored by the algorithm I have a normal nonvtuber yt account and saw some of her songs in my recommendations when looking into normal japanese artists
>>
>>9884372
Big incline from a viral clip, sings regularly enough for the algorithm to push her while not polluting her channel with too many games so people engage with all of her streams, and she's an amazing singer to retain all of those viewers.

>>9884452
I get the feeling she's a very artsy person who doesn't really understand tech from watching her streams evolve over time, so you might want to mention to her in a slower stream.
>>
>>9884539
She also opened membership, and my purely anecdotal experience is that you get pushed much harder by Youtube if you have membership, since I get recommended a bunch of tiny fucking channels on my homepage that have membership. Was quite the perfect storm, and it couldn't happen to someone more deserving.
>>
>>9884522
Avatar design doesn't really filter me if they can sing well, for example Nanamiya Sou
>>
>>9884946
I understand not caring about visuals, since I'm not looking at the stream half the time, but you don't like hers? It's not a 10/10 knock out, but it's reasonably well rigged, expressive, and nice to look at.
>>
>>9885025
Personal preference from the visuals. I do agree on the rigging though, it's certainly well done.

>>
>>9889009
Yea, I was really blown away by her doing I See The Light last month, and managing to do both the male and female parts, switching between the two voices on the fly. She's pretty stellar at working in her lower range.

https://youtu.be/JHuysBnwxEg?t=2685
>>
>>9889491
I was blown away by Hello from that same stream. She can barely sing most of the words but her voice and passion shines through.

I really love Luci's singing. It's definitely not the best technically but she puts her heart into it and most of all she's really unique. Can't think of too many folks who sound like her.
>>
>>9889736
This world needs more Altos and Basses.
>>
>>9889736
While she's a bit of a menhara if you follow her Twitter, Luci's singing reminds me of Yue though she doesn't go low that often, but they both have that very smokey, lounge singer style. It's a shame she seems to want to cover the most strange things that don't actually show off that she's a fairly good singer. Just have to dig through her unlisted streams, but at least she keeps them in a playlist unlike some people.

Could work on your enunciation, which syllables to stress better and whatnot. You also can't hold notes for shit, so work on that.
>>
>>9891683
Nope. Just wanted to see if my music taste is good or nah, I felt like there's a lot wrong with the cover. But I know nothing about music and recently found vtubers singing.

>>
>>9891831
>Its not me
>only 30 views
>half is probably from this thread
sure anon.
>>
>>9891580
Probably needed to start in a lower key, since you can hear how badly squished it is when they try to go to a higher range at the end. Agree that it's offnote when trying to hold them, the enunciation is pretty bad, and the heavy handed application of pitch correction leads to it sounding worse then if it were just naturally not perfect, with really strange moments at 2:15-ish. It also sounds like they tried to record the audio with a mic intended for just talking which leads to some weird artifacts and probably why the enunciation sounds so weird, and it's fairly nasally whenever trying to go falsetto for some extra range. The Watame's lullaby is better, but I think in both cases they're a bit low on most notes.
>>
>>9891728

What's the best strategy for that?

>>
>>9892008
I'm sure there's a bunch of vocal coaches with videos on Youtube, but the most basic thing is to make sure you're standing up with good posture because if you're as short as breath as that song sounded, you'd get winded walking up the stairs. You also don't have to do the entire song in one take, you do multiple takes of each verse and stitch the best ones together.
>>
>>9892008
What this anon >>9892176 said, many FREE resources are available on youtube and if you really tried have used a search engine of your own accord.
Formal lessons aren't really necessary especially for pop tier songs. Find someone in your family or friend that are skilled singers/musicians. What they will teach you can be found online as we've mentioned earlier but having someone give you direction personally helps.

Record your voice, for some less experieced individuals are unable to hear if they are on tune live but with practice can solve your tone deafness. Listen to the recording after and the majorty of the population can tell themselves if their own recording is out of pitch. You can't? grab your recorder and an instrument, play the notes in order and try to sing the same notes in a similar manner. Do this repeatedly until you're confident you're on tune then show someone who cares, give yourself a pat on the back as you've finished the first step and are now on par with preschoolers before they learned the G Clef.
If none of these worked you may unfortunately be part of the smallest minority with the terminal case of being musically inept, or you you just plain consider learning to be too much of a trouble and a waste of time. In either case stick to rap, claim they are songs and idols are singers.

>>9891831

Is it because nijisanji has a lot of vtubers that it has more people that can sing compare to hololive? Barely anyone from holoJP can sing well.
>>
>>9910437
They also used to be the big dick company while Holo was a footnote until Gen3/4, so if you were talented you applied to Niji. Their shotgun approach also certainly does mean that they've got more good singers as well, and you also have Niji having ties to Sony which means it's easier to secure a record deal, whereas even AZKi does all of her stuff without the help of a traditional record label and everyone else, bar Sora, has to handle it themselves.

>>
>>9915477
I honestly can't stand her singing style. She may have a proper technique and sure she can sing arias and stuff, but goddamn she sounds like an annoying rat
>>
>>9915477
I'd say Hachi has a bit more versatile voice while Chima is more specialized. Though both their repertoires leave plenty of holes for other vsingers to fill.
As for any possible comparison, the top names have a song they shine at so comparison is difficult. You will have more valid answers if you restrict to specific songs.

>>
>>9917865
>she's just not for me. Same with Azki.
Same for me. The only competent singers in hololive are probably Suisei and the Shark.
>>
>>9917516
Technically competent, a pleasant but not amazing voice that has some flaws, but she needs to learn how to do more then just hit the notes. She picked some very emotional songs, with Inochi and Palette in particular, to cover and she wasn't able to convey those emotions in her singing. Her first karaokes were similar where she was nice to listen to, but I'd describe her as the MIDI instruments of singing where there wasn't much personality or inflection on her singing. Maybe she's got better since then as she's relaxed but I've got enough other things to listen to that I haven't cared enough to find out.

I'm also going to meme on her for
>HoloEN
>originals in Japanese
especially since she didn't put on a translated subtitle, when someone like Watame does.
>>
>>9918276
Ass taste
>>
>>9918287
It's not great when an EN company singing project is doing less for their EN base than a JP that has to manage her own music, even if Watame is built different.
>>
>>9918276
Shark isn't even top 5.
>>
>>9920100
Then who are hololive top 5 singers?
>>
>>9917516
Her earlier karaokes sounded bland (probably because she was hyper focused on not fucking up and concentrated on just hitting the notes) but ever since she loosened up & relaxed she’s had some really excellent renditions of some songs.

One Last Kiss, Inochi no Namae, Secret of My Heart & La La La Love Song are a few of some beautiful covers that was sung passionately in recent karaokes. Sometimes she still is bland but when it’s a hit it’s fantastic. I do have a soft spot for her crystal clear intonation as well.
>>
are we back at the power level faggotry time loop again? There's more to a singer than just the tone of their voice, people
>>
>>9920172
Adding to this, I also think her official covers so far are pretty meh. Technically
good but something’s missing there.

Live singing is where she really shines. Maybe she’ll get an official cover later on which showcases her emotional singing better.
>>
>>9920161
1. Sora
2. Yogiri
3. Ame

Only Sora and Yogiri are good singers. Ame is in the list purely because she has soul.
>>
>>9920161
It's a big list of people that are better, anon. Suisei, Sora, AZKi, IRyS, Watame, Shion, Matsuri and even fucking Towa sing better than your overrated shark.
>>
On an interesting note, Homura is that one song everyone has sung, so here are some versions. Pick your most favorite (note that this is just one song, and does not necessarily imply their overall skills).

Chima https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xGXBdb7F4-A&t=3322s
Hachi https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GNUK9PVDiK8&t=5792s
MiCosmic https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NdxUjQBOB6Y&t=1649s
CocoTsuki https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IBnt4J9WMMg&t=1922s
Saki Akuma https://streamable.com/u2cuu8
Suisei https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lwULYAP7nt0
Irys https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PHIOn67MQcw

In my (subjective) opinion, the worst version for me is Irys. As people say, her voice becomes super nasal during the higher notes instead of opening up like all the others. The 2nd worst for me is Suisei, because she keeps dropping syllables halfway instead of holding and smoothly transitioning.
But choosing the best is a closer contest. Hachi is, as always, solid throughout, but there are bits I like from the others more.

>>9921395

>>
>>9921557
Technically true. Just realised that you are bashing my taste on Shark but not Suisei. Maybe Shark's singing is not as good but personally I like her karaoke better than others. The song list might has some influence in it though.

>>
>>9920876
>>9920161
Not the anon, but bear in mind the existence of contrarians who feel the need to shit on Gura because she is overrated elsewhere, so their opinions aren't reliable. Also, Gura's best repertoire (Titanium, Baka Mitai, etc.) is different from other vsingers (let alone hololivers). And her freestyle jazz is a nice thing not many others have done.

Gura's actual problem (as opposed to cringe hyperbole from contrarians), is the inconsistency in her performance (due to lack of practice or seriousness). For instance, compare her famous Baka Mitai and robotic Lemon. They may as well be 2 different singers. The closest good Gura cover that may serve as fair comparison with JP vsingers is 世界の約束. It's quite popular with non-holos, yet Suisei, Azki, Sora, Watame etc. have never sung it.
>>
>>9915477
Chima's a tryhard. I just can't take her seriously. I can't quite put my finger on the reason why, but I just... can't.

No she's not that great, sure she has some fundies down but that's about it.

Most of the actual vsingers shit her out of the water.

In terms of general best vsingers, taking the whole package into consideration I'd say HIMEHINA are still top of the game. Highly talented, unique vocals, originals out the ass, high quality MVs, cute models. 10/10 singers.

Other mentions I'd throw in the top echelons are YuNi and MaiR.
I like the kamitsubaki girls and kotone, but they're admittedly less strong on the singing front than the actual top singers. I might swap a few of them for YuNi though since she can be hit or miss on some songs.
I'd actually put some of the PRISM girls above Chima desu.

I don't like anjo's voice here desu though, it would have fine by itself but in a duet it feels too hanging if that makes sense. Like it doesn't lead into Kotone it sounds like they're just singing by themselves then overlaying it as opposed to naturally leading into the other one.
