ITT: post and discuss worth watching cinematics from strategy games Be it openings, cut-scenes or trailers. On game's engine or not. Classics everyone know or obscure gems. They don't affect gameplay at all, but they're still fun to watch. Starting off with the very best:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fnd0qg4I_MM
i always loved this onehttps://youtu.be/rvXF3oGy-iE
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HMlu7ZleclIThese are all great.
>>849140This is too easy.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A20Dcw9IzyoGet fucked by a horse, Blizzard.
>>849153The spaceship shot always felt off to me. Perhaps because it takes so long before Cuotl become significant in the plot of campaign. But it's a great intro.
pretty sad that most universe at war cutscenes are not on youtubemight go change that
>>849174>Blizzard will never have this much SOUL again. These cutscenes were probably the best they ever did. Didn't look like Toy Story like Starcraft ones but looked good enough for even the modern day.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GgxcvmkPD-INot really, but fucking tell me this doesn't look like an intro cinematic to some sci-fi rts.
>>849140https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4QjrVUxzQ_QLooking at Blizzard these days makes me very sad.
>>849313god speed anonthis however is the best intro ever https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5enBMSH5ghc
>>849140>>849395What makes USSR invasion of USA is so fucking kino?
>>849140https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OVabu3Vour8i wish there were RTS games like this cinematic.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hyDqs2twe50Space RTS kino
>>849140Welcome to Port Arthur:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2MQPWE_M_EM
>>849174Repeating what the other anon said. The blizzard that made stuff like this is long dead and will never come back. Feelsbadman.
>>849153It's a crime this wasn't better appreciated.
>>849441Because Americans secretly want to be invaded.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tnV5K6rULm0
>>849750It would unironically solve a lot of our political problems.
>>849441USA invasion scenarios are always interesting since mainland USA never was invaded by another country in real life. Unless you like count Independence War.
Here's is my all time favorite obscure onehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0sUcMFmPSFc
>>849155kek these are great
>>849781Yeah, I remember playing the fuck out of this game when I was a kid. And for the love of me, I can't say if that game was any good or not. I liked the comic though. It was really trying to out-edge Warhammer, which is amazing.
I shouldn't need to explain my feelings about this one here to anyone on /vst/https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yrW4jkQdmjI
>>849395>americans fighting and dying in front of a burger storeKINO

>>849140Well, the RA2 intro is the be-all end-all of all strategy game cutscenes so this thread is already over
>>849155I have few hundered hours in S2 and I never saw like half of those.
>>849800It wasn't very good. Half assed attempt at classic TW gameplay but in not-Warhammer world. And it was surprisingly hard.I still loved paldin order faction.
>>849441It's one of those 'unthinkable' moments of modern (alt)history that are always buried somewhere in our subconsciousness - up there with Hitler invading the UK, the actual Operation Unthinkable, Eisenhower going nuclear retard in Korea, Soviets landing on the Moon, etc. etc.
>>849923>actual Operation UnthinkableThey should've done it. Defetaing USSR wasn't probably possible but they could've pushed them back east of Poland. Europe would be a better place and it's quite possible that China wouldn't turn communist it that scenario solving another long term problem.
>>849153Good job, anon. Thanks.
>>849441I guess it’s cool to pretend to be an underdog for once.
>>849778You are wrong.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_of_1812
>>849926>Defetaing USSR wasn't probably possible but they could've pushed them back east of PolandRealistically Allies would get their shit pushed in and USSR control would spread from Vladivostok to Bordeaux. They would collapse eventually just like irl maybe even faster and then western europe would be full of based post-communist countries similar to todays Hungary, also no immigrants.A man can dream...
K I N Ohttps://youtu.be/OTREPsYa1Ss
Here is a good fucking intro : https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=xnxO6s41Gc8&t=89s
And another https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=clA3uvSY8S0
>>850003>based post-communist countries similar to todays HungaryI'm living in one of those. It's hardly as great as you imagine it.
>>850023I remeber playing this as a kid. It was awfuly mediocre. Definition of 4 or 5/10. The intro is nice tough.
>>849778>USA invasion scenarios are always interestingThe whole thing about it being 'interesting' boils down to America not being the aggressor for a change.
>>850037>America not being the aggressor for a changeI disagree. America defending against the attacking Soviets, OpFor, RedFor or WhateverFor is pretty common trope in video games and films. Mothing new there.
>>850003>Realistically Allies would get their shit pushed in and USSR control would spread from Vladivostok to Bordeaux.Hardly. The US were a far more mobile, better trained, and better equipped force and relatively fresh with excellent logistics, and, by the way, atomic weapons. The Soviets meanwhile were overstretched and exhausted from a long and terrible campaign that never would have been possible without US lend lease, nevermind that their breakthrough strategy would be perfectly countered by US atomics. Sure, maybe they'd be the more grizzled, but I believe Patton would beat Zhukov or Vasilevsky any day.
>>850317>would have been possible without US lend leaseThis presumption is as annoying as disregarding lend lease entirely.Fucking armchair fucks, the only way to shut you all up is to become a fucking historian and professional military leader, it's so tiresome to listen to all of those fools no matter the discipline.ANNOYING.
>>849140https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ngWP9Rk5X_oIt manages to perfectly encapsulates the game really
>>850140>America defending is a pretty common tropeYes, in American media... you don't see the connection.
>>850327t. ArmatardRetards who downplay the importance of lend lease have no right to call others "armchairs"
>>849140Always love these threads. Strat cinematics are truly works of heart.
>>849140>obscure gemsI doubt any of you have played this side-gig.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RnkXDGK-XOA
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=at5sM6jdRNgCampy as fuck but that's why I love it
>>849174>15 years ago>this was posted in 06Holy shit this might be the oldest YouTube vid I've ever seen. Previously, 2007 was the oldest I'd seen on several vids.
>>849313Where can you even get UaW anymore?
The greatest videos in Video Game History. No other civ ever have things like this again. https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL8407FAE1DDDA0A31
>>849153How is that game?
>>849390Brood War's Terran scenes are so fucking kino.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TA5nOOSRS4c
The game might not be that good, but the intros always get mehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yEl9kI2Aluwhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8nDdsxF62pM
>>852794damn it if that part where the orthodox patriarch puts his hand on the spaceship doesn't get me every time
Total classichttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k6mZZiI4ShQ Although I quite hate how the narrator says "complete elimination" instead of "total annihilation". As cheesy as such title drop would be. The set up is all there already.
>>852924fuck that kicks ass
>>849800>>849906For me it's a game with ok gameplay that gets elevated by the great atmosphere. I replayed it a few times over the years and I still like it, even with all it's shortcomings like the stupid AI. Like they way you can exploit enemy archers on walls with heroes and mages since spells have longer range than arrows and the ai archers don't even try to run away from walls as you burn them with fireballs. Mages overall are pretty overpowered, especial liches with their ability to create from just one corpse a couple skeletons and a vampire.
>>852794I'm still mad firaxis just left BE to die instead of actually fixing itI must be the only one who unironically loved it
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h67JpMyrOVEmost kino scene in all of Dawn of War
>>849403fucking bestso many good memories

>>849923>Eisenhower going nuclear retard in Korea>nuclear retardthis made me kek, for whatever reason
>>849441isn't blowing up the Statue of Liberty is a time-honored tradition of American media?
>>849923>Eisenhower going nuclear retard in Koreayou mean MacArthur.Ike became president during Korea but by that point Chinese were pushed all the way back north
>>849140https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WyK7lX4sk0cpossibly the best sound design in vidya
>>856579Bullfrog has some funny cut-scenes.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uvDEYBaWpYY
>>856610lol it goes from funny to creepy very fast.
>>850327Stalin and Khrushchev both said they would have lost without Lend-Lease anon, do you think you know better than them?
