it seems like the ai starts out with like 4 builders, 3 military units and als builds districts 200% faster. What the hell is this?
the game literally explains to you that deity mode gives the AI benefits
>>427620alright alright, still a bad idea
>>427620who wants a challenge impossible to win like that?
>>427643People who are actually good at the game and don't want a free win on the top difficulty just because they feel they deserve it.
Just keep restarting the game until you get an OP start.
>>427643Its actually pretty easy when you get right down to it. Deity is more about abusing certain diplomatic things to prevent the AI from declaring war than anything else. Once you survive the first 30-50 turns catching up is really pretty trivial and then you just win so long as you picked a victory condition early and optimized toward it the whole game.
>>427763>>427711Deity mode isn't hard its just badly designedIt basically revolves around meticulously following a meta until you managed to out compete everyone around you, actively punishing you for experiment and doing anything other than playing a linear step-by-step routine. Its only 'hard' in the sense you wont know the exact way to play without looking up a guide
>>427612Because the AI is simply dumber than you. Even if you think you're not a good player, odds are you are smarter than the AI is, so the AI needs something to even the playing field.
>>427612That's because you're playing a shitty gameGet Civ IV instead
>>428097>>427612or 3. bet you die on warlord there
>>428279>3god their extra settler on demigod+ makes shit so hard
>>427612Play on deity but you can cheat and give your self aircraft carriers (MODDED)
>>427612>you mean difficulty in civ games is just increased cheating for the AI?always has been...
>>427643>2021>People wonder wy would you want a challenge in your 4X gameThe absolute fucking state of modern Civ playerbase. Apolyton people were right - this franchise is beyond salvage. Not because the games can't be fixed, but because the damage done by both 5 and 6.
>>427612Game developers can't make smarter AI so they just let the AI cheat
>>430717can't, or won't...
>>431643Can't.
Yeah I think they start with 3 settlers, 3 builders and some army and scouts (basically 3x you do). I dunno about the increased build speed though, first I’ve heard of it. I finished deity with Australia and Byzantium, both times was actually not that hard after getting through classical era.
>2021>noblefag for 15 years>only just now beating Civ4 on Prince>only just now trying MonarchIt literally just took starting with worker-warrior-settler rather than spending the first turns building scouts randomly and settling a new city when I felt like it
>>427612>plays on the hardest difficulty>"what noooo why is it hard???!!"
>>432549Artificial difficulty, anon. It's hard to beat a high-level Naval Action player, not because he's necessarily cheating, but because he actually knows what he's doing.
dont play dumb civ has had this problem for ages, if you're brainlet enough to still play it at all dont go making a shitty sarcastic thread about it
>>427912This. The AI just stacks bonuses to the point of absurdity. You either get drowned early or win as long as you optimize properly.
>>431643No in this case it's case, it's legitimately hard to make a smart AI for a 4x game.
>>434759In this case it's can't, I meant
>>427612Yup, Deity is artificial as it gets, the ai even gets military cheats, their troops are always stronger than yours.
>>434695optimize is putting it lightly, its an autistic meta of following a script for every single turnits a neat challenge mode, but you can just play on 7 and get the same experience without the stupid meticulous meta
>>427612Welcome to literally every strategy game ever, enjoy your stay
>>427643>impossibleIt's not. It's still the same stupid AI they basically just start with a lead and then drool on themselves. If you ever catch up it's a free win
>>427612AI died past like 2006, noone puts in the effort anymore to make the computer players get smarter. Instead difficulty levels in basically all games just give AIs more advantages
>>427912>It basically revolves around meticulously following a meta until you managed to out compete everyone around you, actively punishing you for experiment and doing anything other than playing a linear step-by-step routine. Its only 'hard' in the sense you wont know the exact way to play without looking up a guideIn modern Civ games you can get away with almost anything on Deity mode, because the AI just doesn't know how to play the game. If it had no bonuses but actually played well then you would have to follow the multiplayer meta to beat it, which would be much more restrictive. It seems like what you want is a difficulty where you can make bad/random decisions and still win.
>AI Cheating on hard modes>In a strategy gameWell that is completely unheard of, a real shocker, you should report this to the newspapers, the people must know of this incredible and outrageous discovery at once!
>>428097>tfw there will never be a civ game as good as 4 ever again
>>435494Oh come off it nigger, AI has never been good. This isn't a "modern devs are so lazy compared to the good old days" thing, AI has improved across the board over the years because there's been more research, they're just still shit because it's still an enormously difficult problem.
