What are you having trouble with?
>>
>>415075
By the time I get to the new world I'm normally losing money, or have some horrible mess of an island with inefficient production lines and difficulty balancing production.
Not sure when I'm supposed to expand to other islands and if I should actually develop them or just turn them into giant farms or something
>>
>>415082
Typically I have one main city island that has most of my production. I expand to other islands when I need resources. Also usually make one island that's farmers only after unlocking the commuter pier so I can upgrade my main island to be at least workers and above.

You shouldn't have to worry about min-maxing your production lines IMO. Just make sure there are enough warehouses to move goods. It's always cheaper to make more base level warehouses than it is to upgrade one for more cart guys.

Familiarize yourself with the production graphs located in Ctrl Q or the little graph button when clicking on a particular resource/factory. It will show you how much of the product you're making vs it's demand, and show how much of the production materials needed you have.

If you're having trouble, start a new game without AI. It takes a lot of the pressure off and you can expand at your own pace.

Don't be in a rush to upgrade housing tiers. I like to make sure I've wholly satisfied the needs AND happiness of each citizen tier before upgrading. Full happiness housing generates a lot more money than ones with missing wants.

Artisan and especially engineer production lines are very expensive upfront. It's worth it to build up a good population of artisans and let your income build up a bit before moving into engineers.

Engineers add power and tractors (if you have Bright Harvest DLC) which will make it so you do a lot of reorganizing of your industry and farm production.

There's probably a lot more to recommend but that's what comes to mind for now.

Oh yeah, sell soap to the prison island man. He needs it to drop in the showers big time.

>>417639
Only need to focus on making your city look nice once you start getting investors and have a bunch of engineers in my opinion. Once you have reliable power and the palace to extend ranges on buildings you can get less minmax with layouts to make things that look nice.

>>417654
You at least are making it so your more rich citizens are in the center of town with the poor dregs surrounding. That makes sense.

PRO TIP: you can click and drag with the trees in the worker parks menu to create varied forests. Use trees everywhere. They never fail to make things look nicer. A little green goes a long way. I like to use trees as an imaginary noise and pollution buffer for citizens. Having a train track behind your house with a row of trees in front of it is much more tolerable than not.

Hardmode (but soon to be irrelevant with patches coming): try to keep the natural trees that are already on the island there. They grow bigger and look more "natural" than the placed trees.

>>419815
Likely repeating what's already been said but play a save without AI/pirates. Expand at your own pace. Make sure your citizens needs/happiness are all met before upgrading.

Personally I like game with no AI and just New World pirates. It's enough for me to deal with without feeling like I'm totally alone in the world. Protip for dealing with pirates in general, use the Diplomacy menu to by ceasefires from them. They need to be re-bought every two hours, but getting them increases your rep with the pirates and makes subsequent ceases' cheaper. You will also eventually get trading rights with pirates this way letting you buy pirate/pytho boats and other specialists.

The expeditions to unlock the new maps (Enbesa/Africa, New World, Cape T, arctic, can all be ignored until you're ready, especially when playing without AI as you won't need to worry about them taking islands/potentially missing an AI asking you to settle somewhere. Other expeditions just give you items for museums, trade unions, etc, and can be done whenever you want, there's no downside to ignoring even in progress ones.

>>419888
I always try to take a woman pirate on any expedition since there's a couple women and pirate insta-win scenarios like having a steam vessel in your screenshot.

There's no reason to buy the DLC straight away. Almost everything adds on at the end of the game, and you can play for over a hundred hours before getting there
>>

At what point should I shuffle all my farmers off my main island to make room for more industry?
>>

You never have to do that, mixed islands work better due to crown taxes, and just require some more effort setting up the logistics
You might want to centralize production only if you get a really good item, and don't need more factories than would fit in a trade union's radius
>>
>>431966
I like to make a farmers only island when I can reasonably afford the 2k upkeep of two commuter piers. I also do that eventually with the bulk of workers later on.

Wat? I thought you could only get common, uncommon, and rare tier items of those?
>>
>>433880
>rants at you due to the festival ending
>>
>>434280
That's what the game says but I don't know. For legendary artifacts, animals and plants it says you need 3 skull difficulty expeditions but not for specialists.
>>
>>434054
>>434262
What are the odds you are going to get exactly that legendary specialist. Face it dude, you're going to have to expand brass production.

Doing my first run and I got to Crown Falls
I feel like I should prioritize building up that massive island rather than spreading out in the old world and the new world, but is that what I should be doing?
>>
>>435227
You can do that, or you can ignore Crown Falls entirely (after claiming other islands so AI doesn't take them). It's up to you!
>>
>>435227
Building up on a single island means crown taxes hit you sooner
>>
>the new dockyard building doesn't line up perfectly with my main avenue to the palace

FUCK ME
>>
>>435279
Well it's a start. The drastic increase in storage space threw my supply chain for a loop, but things are starting to even out again now. It's nice to have quay decoration now, but they're so far apart, with some details being effectively one tile big taking up four tiles, it's absurd.

>latina queen
>>
>>435146
She must be a descendant of Marie D’Artois
>>
>>435146
>>435548
The description makes it sound less like an actual person, and more like a vision of THE Saint D'Artois
>>
>>435557
Oh yes, you are right. I didn’t read the description. Quite peculiar that the item is actually a vision and not a real person, probably the item is physically the beggar man while the Saint is just the symbol
>>
>>435557
>>435548
Yes it's her. Brother Hilarious also came to my island. What did he even do in 1404 again? Deliver building materials? I forget.

Hey Anno bros, love this game!
Should I get The Anarchist DLC?
Does it add much?
>>
>>435723
He helps you during the campaign, assisting the main character and Lord Northbourgh while taking care of the rescued children Cardinal Lucius has sold to Prince Mohammed bin Salman. He acted in 1404 as a sort of tutorial figure that explains you some aspect of the game and giving you quests from time to time
>>
>>435769
The dlc in question doesn’t add much. It introduces one more ai with its relative portrait, Hugo Mercier, which is also a provider of several quite useful items that you can exploit in your cities. Such Items are unique to him and you can’t access to without Hugo on the map. Personally I think the dlc is worthy of the price and it gives me my favourite portrait in the game, beside it will grant you an extra building that is the speaker tower. It’s just a decorative object but I find it a cool addition, especially when Hugo himself builds it because he will use it to spread his political propaganda in the air, creating an authoritarian atmosphere like 1984. It’s really up to you to buy the dlc, I’m just saying it is not a waste of money

Question for ComfyIslandfags:

Do you do an optimal build order for islands first, then delete everything and rebuild?
Or do you just not play against AI and take your time?
>>
>>436183
It's the latter definitely for me. I like to try to make my productions somewhat optimal, but aesthetics/light RP elements are a top priority too.
>>
New to Anno. Where do I start and what are the best games?

2070 is where I started and I had a blast playing as a Captain Planet villain. I wouldn't say it's the absolute best of the entire series, but it has a good overview of many of the core mechanics and doesn't penalize you too hard for not being completely optimal. Also it has underwater "islands", which is really cool.

Or you can jump straight into 1800. It's got a pretty nice tutorial campaign.
>>
>>436270
Oof, that bloom didn't age as well as the rest of the graphics
>>
>>436320
I thought the same thing about 1404. I remember it looking like 1800 does now but looking back on it, it definitely shows some age. Bloom especially.
>>
My Export Office isn't exporting anything with the new DLC. Is it because the good I'm importing is full in my warehouses? I don't get why I can't just export only
>>
>>436579
Yes, it's because the import is full. I'm guessing you can't just export because it's a "trade" of goods vs. just buying or selling them.
>>
>>436583
Shieeet. That's fair I suppose. I was so many hours deep that I tossed on a trainer just to max-comfy my city

>don't have any islands where there are two mines/quarries in close proximity
Thanks Anno.
>>
>>436609
Do you have any New World islands with gold mines close together? If you're lucky you can get 3-5 in the same radius and it's huge for gold production when stacked with other items.
>>
>>436616
There's one island I can grab that has two close together, but unfortunately none in my new world with more than that.
>>
>>436626
Damn that's a bummer. Not even any of the small islands? Bad luck.
>>
>>436654
Yeah, I checked every island and they're all spread out. I thought one of them might have 3 but they're all just slightly out of range of the trade union's radius
>>
>>436816
I got lucky in my seed. All gold mines on this island.
>>
Got the first expansion finally. Supplies finally starting to even out after the storage expansion rush.
>>
>>436199
That is cool. I should just have no AI in the game. Do you keep the pirates around?
>>
>>436837
You lucky bastard
>>
>>437114
I only kept NW pirates, OW pirates and AI off.
>>
>>436609
Has to be the worst epic specialist. Anything else that'd work on mines would be better
>>
>>437418
Oh wait I'm dumb, forgot the -100% workforce means you can crank up the workload by 50% for free
>>
What are the opinions on the season passes here?
I only got the pasage from the first ones, but I am considering the whole second one, but this will mainly depend on how the African dlc is, the rest doesn't seem to be worth to be baught alone. Season 3s' skyscraües look promising but I really don't care about tourists.

Does she have some kind of robot AI force she built.
>>
>need 1500 artisans on an island to unlock the University need
What the fuck are these bums going to do? The ones I have right now already produce several times more goods than they need. Gonna end up with like 800 unemployed Artisans just so I can move up a tier
>>
>>438643
There's nothing wrong with a little excess workforce anon. If you think 1500 artisans is bad, just you wait for engineers and scholars.
>>
>Visitor no longer comments on my island attractiveness
What the fuck is the point, then? I swear that was a big part of the reason I played late-game so I could impress her.
