Core or Arm?
>>358921Core. Arm may have the early game advantage, but nothing trumps the fucking Korgoth. Also, Core has the stronger naval units.
>>358921Arm for maximum pewpewpewpewpewpewpew
>>358942The Core battleship is less vulnerable to air attack due to the gatling laser, but the Arm one has two heavy turrets.
Posting in patrician thread. Also, Arm. I've always liked Arm more, even when I first played it and didn't speak a word of English, they reminded me of the Rebels from Star Wars for some reason. And I loved the Peewee. They were like the light tank from RA1, except their rate of fire was x10 that of a LT.
>>359041This is true. I always got the impression that Core generally hits harder than Arm. My favorite of their KBots were morties. A fat group of them could repel most any land attack by themselves.
>>359109Core land units tend to be somewhat tougher, also their units have fewer overall weakspots (like the aforementioned battleship, the Arm one needs to be guarded by air defense ships). Arm units work better in combined arms squadrons. And the Arm ground attack helicopter can do more damage than the Core fighter-bomber (those repeating cannon have higher damage over time than the missile).
Story wise the arm are gay rebels and the core are cool authoritarians, also the core campaign has a far better ending cutscene.
>>359049I used to make whole armies of nothing but peewees and rush when I was like 10 or something
>>359899T1 bot rush is still a viable tactic in modern successors like PA
>>359229Those cutscenes made Core seem like the bad guys but are they really?
Arm, cooler more unique units.>>360078So iirc, Core wanted to abandon flesh and implement all conscious into robots. Arm wanted to keep their mortal bodies. Of course during the war the Arm basically had to go the robot route anyways to survive and it became pointless, just each side hates eachother with a passion and hatred is the only reason behind the war.
>>360085I remember reading somewhere that the arm are clones piloting the kbots, the core are copypasta'd warrior personalities. Canonically the arm win and try to rebuild some semblance of civilization after the war, then the core contingency happens.
>>360078Total Annihilation is a pretty dark setting, both sides are basically in it until complete and total extermination down to the last spec and have completely lost any semblance of morality long ago. While Arm ends up pulling that insane last ditch Fuck You, that is only because they lose the Core would do the same thing fi the roles were reversed.
>>358921based game
>>360184Do you mean the arm destroying central consciousness in their second last mission or are you referring to the expansion and got the factions mixed up?
>>358921I liked how Endless Space had their obligatory ancients be the Core and the Arm by another name.
>>358942Korgoths get meme'd by air. Hell if you spend 1/3rd of the metal making tier 1 shit you'll kill a korgoth in a fight, if you even let it be built.
>>360085Didn't Core also have something about brainwashing and removing free will of its citizens or connecting them to one shared consciousness or am I just making things up?
>>361209As far as I remember, they didn't, but I remember TA plot was just an excuse for giant armies beating each other.
>>361244>As far as I remember, they didn't, but I remember TA plot was just an excuse for giant armies beating each other. There is something extremely based about a game that explains its entire plot with three sentences in the intro and from then on it's nothing but hordes of robots blowing each other up
>>358921Great game but holy hell the campaigns suck
>>361592Care to elaborate?I thought they were great. Kind of bare bones by today's standards but good in a simple kind of manner as well.
>>361612Missions are very barebones as you say and the AI is super passive, they just sit there waiting for you.Either that or the mission is outright broken. Departing Rougpelt in the Core campaign is ridiculous, you can get gunships attacking you 30 seconds into the mission. You need to rely on RNG and pray the meteor showers don't hit the enemy units and trigger an attack.
>>361592The main campaign is abit weak but Core Contingency was pretty cool. I do wish the AI was better in skirmish mode.
I stilll do not know the difference
>>363115Core are the robots and the bad guys, Arm are the clones and the good guys. Or something.
>>363115CORE is the democratic government trying to apply free health careARM is trying to overthrow democracy and install an anti-vax regime
>>360085The Core are consciousnesses uploaded into machines, the Arm are those who didn't and ended up cloning soldiers to feed the war machine.
>>363144Thanks that will help
>>363115One has cheaper but more fragile units.
>>363115Droids vs Clones.wait...
>>358921Arm.Peewees, Flash Tanks, Samsons, Fidos, Hawks, Annihilator, Big Bertha.
>>358921I prefer the way Arm units look even if Core is stronger overall.
>>358921Core just wanted to uplift humanity to immortality.
>>363586Immortality is Immortalt. Arm Gang
>>363754Copied clone that is downloaded upon birth and uploaded upon death. You just choose additional steps.
>>363777At least as a clone I'm still human and can have sex. Imagine being a sentient xbox. lmao.
>>363586You mean kill them all and replace them with programs that think they're human?
>>363780And yet you haven't had sex in a hundred years of constant cloning.Actually, are the clones even human? I won't be surprised if the cloning is just a brain inside the kbots
>>363793Enough to be considered human. So the brain and maybe a couple of organs at most. Anything more would be wasteful.
I always loved Core but damn is the Arm gunship a pain in the ass.
>>358921Core>the fire pyro shoots is better than the gay-ass zeus lightning>gimp is a better amphib unit than pelican>THE CAN>KrogothI will admit to some jealousy regarding peewee's guns, but that's it.
>>361131Krogoths are almost sad. Too expensive and they can't even go over sea or be lifted. At that point in the economy it's better to build nukes or timmies.
>>358921This kbot is your friend, he fights for freedom.
>>366519then why is he shooting at me??
>>358921Arm. For all their faults and atrocities, Arm at least realized a long time ago that this whole war with the CORE cost them near everything and that both sides wrecked the galaxy to the point of being almost lifeless. The Arm realized this and are sorry over it. And in the Core Contingency they regret they have to kill the Sea Serpents and blow up the Robot Scorpions.CORE on the other hand gives no shits. But what did you expect from what are essentially dehumanized machines who are patterned instead of clones with minds and hearts like Arm?
>>363115Think of Arm and CORE the same way as Autobots and Decepticons, only grimmer and darker. However the former are clones in robotic constructs while the other are programs that used to be humans but aren't anymore. The whole conflict started because the Arm saw the whole damn patterning as amoral (and rightfully so considering what CORE does in the campaign). Both committed horrible atrocities, yet unlike CORE, Arm actually regrets doing those things. CORE gives no shit. It never gave any shit.
>>367065>>367059>ARM starts the whole war>"But they said they were sorry"Ok, but this isn't Steven Universe, if they really gave a shit they would kill themselves instead of continuing the conflict over the transfer of consciousness from flesh to machine that has decimated a million worlds
>>367273Implying that if they didn't start it then CORE also wouldn't. Unlike CORE, Arm did see where this war went and CORE never gave a fuck about pretty damn everything. Examples are like in the case of the Sea Serpents and Robo Scorpion in the CORE CONTINGENCY. Arm is forced to kill some of the serpents and has to destroy all the alien bots out of necessities. The former because they are a threat to their mission and the latter because there is a chance they have some alien virus on them that can screw them over hard since they are all clones in robots.CORE gives zero fucks like the cold machines they are. They just plain kill everyone and everything. At least Arm has this big realization while the other side probably also had it but never gave a fuck. Nor that their war with the Arm ruined most of the galaxy.
>>367287>Implying that if they didn't start it then CORE also wouldn't.If the ARM didn't exist, the CORE won't have a reason to militarize.
>>367306Both came into being as factions when the latter started to do the whole patterning. And said patterning was made mandatory by the Core super-A.I. The Arm on the other hand saw it as amoral and they really didn't wanted to leave their fleshy bodies. CORE started it by forcing people into something they didn't want to. And in CC the surviving Core Commander wants to blow up what little remains of the galaxy just to obliterate Arm. YES. He wants to kill the Arm and what little life survived by imploding the galaxy on itself.
>>364034The Can was fucking based, I thoroughly loved sending a bunch of those in. Welcome to ruination.I'm not a robot :-(
Why are AKs so cringe?
Blue Lasers of Death were fun but Necros had the best troll shenanigans.
>>358921Taros.
>>367532they're faggots
>>368039lel
>>358982This. The peewee is based enough to make me wanna play arm.
>>360074Play TA:Escalation
>>363115big bertha
>>363777Checked
>>367306>j-just dont fight back or resist at all! It's the students fault Tiananmen Square hapened!
>>360150It's in the manual. Arm warriors are cloned humans.>>360931It's funny how it's pretty much the same story and could be summed up by the same lines TA opens up with. Dust is just leftover nanolathe material.
I used to just build 5 of every Kbot, but after this thread I reinstalled the game and took the Peewee pill.Goddamn, a conga line of those really can destroy the enemy easily, even with jank pathfinding (played on Acid Trip).
imagine being the CORE and building an energy weapon system so powerful you name it the "doomsday machine" but then the most important turret takes a few years to turn where you want it
>>358921>CORE: a machine intelligence that tries to force every human in the galaxy to be turned into AI and uploaded into machines and gets absolutely butthurt when most humans refuseor>ARM: regular humans that didn't want to be turned into computer programs and had to resort to cloning to keep up in the never ending war with copy/pasted AIsIt's basically machine vs human. Arm all the way. Anyone who says CORE didn't pay any attention to the story.Plus Arm have sexier units. Peewee and brawler are pure PEWPEWPEW
Core had better tanks, Arm Kbots, Instigators can absorb a lot more damage
>>369283Even the good Core Kbots are more like Tanks with legs. Like The Can.>tfw when building Goliaths and Cans and watching them steamroll Armlets.
Needs more firepower
>>369338>gets fucked by submarinesNice ship you got there lmao
>>369338im sorry but did the core pattern some orkz?
CORE’s contingency plan was justified, they did nothing wrong.
>>369338Needs more buzzsaw
>>369358>lol fuck these serpents lmaonothing wrong huh?
>Destroy the whole galaxy in a civil war>NOOO! NOT THE SEA SEPERINOS!!!!!I am sorry, but why do ARMfags care about a single species of sea assholes who spit fire hard enough to melt robots?
>>369452sea serpents are cool ok
>>358921do you guys like the new one sans titans?
why did TA modding have so much SOVL?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NczbiiXWfQ0
>>369665Because TA itself is soul. A soul that even SupCom failed to recapture.
>>369742SupCom had its very own soul.
>>369853I won't disagree with that but I think I still prefer the aesthetic of TA. They're like cute toy robots.
>>369869I can agree with that, is like crashing toy armies against each other lookswise. That being said, I still love SupCom ships for being some of the most shiplike ships in rts instead of "tank on water"
TA will always be the pinnacle of robot sound design
>>370665True. I like the RC car noises the Peewee and AK make.
>>363777Anyone else getting slight G1 Megatron vibes, or just me?Not a bad thing tho.
>>375378I could kinda see it, especially with the G1 toy
Aramon
>>375389You know I have yet to try TA:K. How does it compare to TA and SupCom?
>>375402Honestly I never have played the original TA; I really like TA:Kingdoms but I do know that it has a bad rep from a lot of TA players.
>>375412Guess we need to get out of our comfort zones then.
>>375427You should give TA:K a try - the campaign is really fun.
>>375429Vice versa with TA though maybe the original campaign isn't the strongest but The Core Contingency is fun.
>>366643You aren't free enough.
>>358921RISC-V
>>375430Is SupCom campaign any better?
>>375706base game is kinda forgettable, the 6 FA scenarios are more enjoyable. It still annoys me that we didn't get a proper 'phim campaign. All the cool shit in FA happens in the intro cutscene, I'd love to stomp puny humans in the initial invasion.
>>376988Hope you don't mind my gatling laser eating those.
>>378397Feet expansion when?
>>378397So would the Leg faction be the Aeon to Core and Arm's Cybran and UEF?
>>378411hard to say, core/arm dont really resemble the supcom factions in doctrine
have some choccy milk, /vst/
>>378639I'm lactose intolerant
>>358921Arm, spam Flash tanks
I'm having trouble getting the game to work on Windows 10 full screen with the patch from TA Universe installed. Any recommendations?
>>382445dgvoodoo is my goto for getting old PC games to work on Windows. Did you install from Steam/GOG or CD?
I wish pathfinding, especially on water, was better.
>>382639I have it through GOG. Thanks for the recommendation for dgvoodoo I'll check it out.
>>369348NEEDZ MORE SPIKY BITS, AN IT NEEDZ TO BE PAINTED RED.
>>369348Nah, not enuff dakka
I once again forgot the difference. Any help?
>>388668One is cool and based, the other dumb and smelly.
