Post your favorite freeware anon! Me and my bros have been enjoying pic related recently.
0 A.D. is remarkably competent, though it has a bit of a learning curve.

FreeCivit sucks ass
I had fun in Battle for Wesnoth but it filtered me
>>1446537I like how it tried to solve the typical late-game slog of 4x games by allowing planets to share production>>1447615BfW has a pretty shit gameplay. It's got the complexity of RTS and the pace of TBS. Also, it relies way too much on RNG. It looks bad on high resolutions as it doesn't support scaling. But other than that, I kinda like how it looks and it's world
>>1447594Star Ruler 2 may be open source, but it is not freeware. The game is still being sold on Steam. In any case, the game is actually pretty cool, being open source is just a cherry on top. Would recommend.
winSPWW2, Open General
>>1447822Yes, you can buy it on Steam, but you can also legally download it for free. The only thing missing from the free version is the music.
>>1447822>MIT license>you can legally get it off tpbIt's freeware
>>1447971You don't need to torrent, just download OpenSR Launchpad from here: https://github.com/OpenSRProject/OpenStarRuler-Launchpad
>>1446537That one Ufo/Xcom game made in the Quake2 engine of all things
>>1450271It's got a lot of interesting thing. For some reason, the guns fell very satisfying. Too bad it's been abandoned and it's not getting finished
>>1447615Love Wesnoth.
>>1447615Wesnoth... home...
>>1447594yoh
>>1447615>>1450491I always loved the concept of Wesnoth but the battle mechanics are just plain bad.
>>1453127If you can't handle the right way then you can install a mod that lets you play the wrong way.

Zero K.
>>1453241Isn't this essentially just a precursor to openxcom?
>>1447600why
>>1453578this, it's greatalso Beyond All Reason
>>1446537Free Orion is amazing.I've been playing a lot of Beyond All Reason recently. (BAR) - it's balanced annihilation remastered but in the taspring engine. Zero-K is also fantastic.Idk if they count as strategy but openRCT2 and openTTD are also up there. And even StarCraft 2 is f2p technically.
C&CRed Alert 1Tiberian SunAll freeware.
>>1446537Is FreeOrion even playable now? I remember trying to play several years ago, it looked like MOO3, but unfinished.Try Remnants of the Precursors, complete MOO1 remake.
>>1446537How's FreeOrion these days? I played the shit out of version 0.4.5 and back then nothing could beat a deathstack of cheap asteroid ships. Even won as Egassem on Maniacal difficulty.
I tried FreeOrion several times every few years, and there always was something new added to the game, but the gameplay was consistently short on depth so I never bothered to do more than one or two playthroughs each time.
>>1454848>Ughbuntu
Does MyAbandonWare count?
>freetards finishing a game>freetards making a good game
>disingenuously disliking vidya and being negative>a personality
>>1454848>is freeorion even playable now?It feels kinda soulless and like it's missing something, but all the gameplay features are there. Diplomacy seems a bit fucked, tough
>>1454848>Remnants of the PrecursorsI want to like it as it have some upgrades over OG but seriously it also have plenty of shit that make it annoying to play
Wyrmsun.
>>1453187None of the RNG "fix" mods work with any campaign bug free.
>>1455928What do you mean? I played a few and it worked fine.
>>1455619On paper it's better than OG in every way but I still go back to the original. I stick to 1ooM as it just fixes bugs
>>1455885What's this?
