Pull out your paint or other drawing tools and make your own rts unit. Doesn't matter if it's futuristic, fantasy, historical or whatever else.

As op of the previous thread it's nice to see that someone else picked up the thread again.
This unit isn't anything special. It's basically reskinned monk from aoe, but I like the idea of converting enemy by literally repainting them to your color. I find it amusing.

You're thinking of his son, Edmund Ironside. Aethelred the Unready died of some manner of illness. The nicknames are a little backwards in positivity, in my opinion; Aethelred was one of the longest lived Saxon kings and resisted Viking hegemony for decades, whereas Edmund did pretty good in a few battles then lost the crown and (almost certainly) got assassinated.

I'm sure there's a more historically-literate anon who either extrapolate on this, or prove me a retard (which is more likely), but as far as I'm aware:

Her husband was a literal man-child who was incapable of either satisfying her, or running the state. Like, at all. Not even in an inept manner, he just didn't do it. Preferred to spend his time playing dress-up with his royal guard.
As a consequence, she chose to take multiple lovers, and also had essentially full control of the state.
Which means that even if she wasn't playing favourites - which she almost certainly was to some degree - there would have been a heavy perception that she was, and that would be enough by itself to earn her some ire from certain people.
But to add to this, she was also a bit of a patron of the arts. Investing intoand developing Russia's culture meant investing money and resources that weren't going into the Boyar's pockets, and, worse yet, carried the possiblity that the serfs might actually see some benefit and improvement to their lives, even if it's indirect, and we can't have that, can we?
The dudes she was bonking were all pretty powerful in their own right, though, so there wasn't much her detractors could do without causing problems for themselves, which is why the only commonly-known negative thing people know about her are the salacious stories that came out regarding the circumstances of her passing.
Those stories evidently didn't even take all that well, because 1. They were honestly pretty fucking tame compared to the shit that nobility tended to get up anyway, and 2. She was well-liked enough by the general populace that she's still referred to as Katherine the Great to this day.
You may now accuse me of profound mental retardation while correcting this post, whether in whole, or in part.

I don't have drawing, but i have this

Seal Team 6

Special
Cloak: While the enemy does not have LOS to your unit, you can cloak. While cloaked you move very slowly but receive a bonus to accuracy, camo, cover and damage while stationary.
DeCloak: When you attack, if enemy is within LOS you will begin to decloak. A timer will begin to count down, and so long as an enemy remains within line of sight, you will decloak when it reaches zero. If the enemy leaves your
LoS and you remain in stealth, the timer will start to count backwards, until you are fully cloaked again. Attacks on units when you are outside their LoS will not cause you to decloak nor will they stop the timer. You can also
decloak to move faster.

allegedly, this unit sometimes does something by randomly going on a banning spree, doing admin abuse-element damage to random units on the map
unfortunately this is heavily weighted in favor of banning people who don’t actually deserve it, causing too much friendly fire
unless any units have been marked with the J’ak of Soii, a curse that increases mineral production but severely penalizes physical attributes
unfortunately, this debuff cannot be reliably applied so it’s not a useful strategy

Worst optimized unit ever
I literally can't come up with worse.

Like a ground unit built solely to attack submarine, not surface-boat.
Or a "tank" incapable of hitting close target if in mobile-mode, but incapable of hitting long range target if in static-mode.
>>
>>1487661
Reminds me of Rusted Warfare and its bonkers naval units, including:
>a super slow submarine with a pitifully weak torpedoes that's somehow meant for scouting
>a versatile submarine that attacks with torpedoes only when submerged, and with homing missiles (both anti-air and anti-ground) when surfaced
>an experimental sub that can surface and crawl on land
>an amphibious plane with lightning guns that can submerge at the cost of slowing down to a crawl and losing much of its weapons' range

You're right. Not sure why I got them mixed up, aside from the suspicious timing of their deaths. Æthelred generally got a bunch of unflattering nicknames. Think one of the others was "the ill adviced." I think it has more to do with differentiating him from previous Æthelreds which were more fondly remembered. He gets a lot of shit for the Danelaw purge which became the casus belli for Forkbeard to invade. Going into exile likely also didn't earn him any goodwill. At the same time IIRC Edmund was one of the commanders and a very successful one at that during the time when Æthelred fought Cnut.

you know I wonder if there's any RTS games where you can design your own units like in these threads, and if such a thing has multiplayer support
if one doesn't exist we can pull out the good ol' unrealistic expectations and hope someone here can code/mod such a thing into reality, so we can have all our favorite factions from these threads fighting eachother
>>
>>1517739
Sounds like an idea that would produce fun stuff for a while until min/maxers figure out how to make the most optimized roster of units that beat everything you throw at them (and probably look like crap), and everyone will end up using those instead of creating new stuff. Or the devs destroy the customization depth after noobs cry about it being too complicated to get right. Or it gets constantly rebalanced with hefty buffs and nerfs every few months. Reminds me of how Robocraft was the most fun in alpha.
>>
>>1518843
>robocraft
would there even be enough interested 4chan users for scheduled robocraft custom games?
it could be kinda fun
>>
>>1518843
Maybe if instead of each player designing their own units, each player can bring a limited number of their own units, and then both players have access to all units (their own and the enemy's). This wouldn't solve the issue of optimizing units but at least it would ensure both players have an even starting point.
>>
>>1470980
YOU JUST KNOW
>>
>>1517739
There are a bunch of rts games that let you actually create your own units. Tho of course they don't give you complete freedom, it's rather you build from parts given to you by developers. For example we got Earth 2150 and Warzone 2100 (games not related to each others) that let you make your own vehicles by picking from available types of weapons, armor, wheels and such or Impossible Creatures where you mix parts of two animals to create your own monsters.

Introducing, the dastardly knife eared assholes, also known as "Elves".
Their main units are on the lower end of the power scale, but they can gain experience to make up for it and they can greatly benefit from supervision.
Their regular units hold their own in regular combat, but can't deal with more irregular situations.
Thankfully they have a host of specialised auxiliary troops which all come with powerfull abilities but also severe drawbacks. More on that later.
First of all, the snobs from the heartlands and the manors:
The Nobles.

More of the same, but with 50% more weapons per peasant.
Also, I should probably explain a few terms:
>Morale - bad things happen, the bar goes down
>Broken - morale dropped to 0. Usually bad things happen, like:
>Retreat - lose control over the unit, it runs back to HQ, you can recover it there
>Rout / Scatter - lose control over unit, it runs away in random directions, you can recover it if you find it (preferably before the enemy does)
>Surrender - lose the unit instantly
>Meele skill - when two units fight in meele, their meele skill is compared and used to calculate the probability of hit for each other. Higher meele skill = hit more often and get hit less often. Of course it doesn't do jack shit for ranged attacks.

Now here is where things star getting interesting.
Welcome to the ""Auxiliary units"" tab
High risk - high reward territory
First up, the """"Volonteers"""" from one of the Empire's provinces. (The allegories here are really not subtle.)
And yes, in case it wasn't obvious, the elves are kind of dicks to everyone.

What is with all that "magic" stat that shows up here? Well, there are things that aren't quite from this world that also need dealing with. Every faction has some units that make use or at least have a way of countering them.
These are categorized as
>magic beings - ghosts, demons. Usually don't give much of a fuck about physical damage, which causes them to be major pain in the ass, unless you've got a way to deal with them.
>Beasts - it got fur? It's probably it. tough bastards that can give and take the beating, but their biggest problem is that they run away and hide, so killing them off is problematic.
>undead - reanimated physical remains. Usually have some resistance to physical damage, but get extra vulnerabilities to other things.

The Scavangers, trespassers, adventureres, looters, killers, explorers, robbers and other undesirables taken from prisons across the Empire, given arms and a chance to redeem themselves in the service of the Emperor, by scouting out the uncharted lands.
Few make it through the first weeks, but those that do, tend to be the hardest, most resourcefull and creative bastards you can find.
A few words on lore:
What is the Enchanted Forest?
>A area that shows up on couple of maps where the borders between the worlds grow thin and laws of euclidean geometry don't really apply.
>Most units that enter the forest go missing or end up in most random places imaginable.
>The topography of the forest is ever changing and nothing is certian, but certian units can navigate it just fine and find what they're looking for.
Why are the worlds colliding and getting entangled?
>Elf shitfuckery. as always.
>That's why human postapocalyptic world, Ork lands and Elven Empire are crashing into each other.
>and also why some pissed off demon appeared and started raising undead.
But that's for another day.
What is "Ancient ruins" and "Pristine ammunition"?
>A leftowers from strange and foreign lands of humans. Before their collapse, they had amazing technologies, some of which can still be salvaged.
Pristine ammunition?
>one of the resources. can only be collected from ruins. Is consumed by units that use advanced firearms.
Why did human world collapse?
>well, apparently having another plane of reality smash into yours can have serious impact on globalized civilisation.
Thank you for reading my shitty fanfic.

No army is complete without siege units, is, it?
I couldn't be bothered to draw the crew, so just imagine some dudes around it.
I should probably address the blue vials you've seen up until now in various places.
Yeah, that's "mana". Or at least what elves call "mana"
It's a collective term for all sorts of magic-infused liquids that are used for various purposes across the Empire. This here, is basically a liquid gunpowder. But there are other uses for other mixtures, like medicine, religious rituals (vision inducing) or alcochol. That last one is probably the most common.
Mana is also one of the resources for the elves. The building that produces it is called a "distillery"

Last but not least, the highest tech unit in Empire's army: the pinnacle of engineering, the real contraption of a watermill strapped to a cannon;
The Multicannon. (patent pending)
again, just imagine some scrawny engineers tinkering with it all the time.
This unit induces infinite frustration for both players: It can massacre entire armies in seconds. If it works. Which it may very well not.
I can already imagine the seething on forums :)

I was thinking about making some more units for elves. An elite infantry, some magic users, maybe third cavalry unit, but I didn't have a good idea for them, so for now that's it folks.
Let me know which army you want next:
>Ork rebels, escaping the slavery and figuring out how to build their tribes back,

OP here (not going to expect everyone to believe me since I didn't start the thread with a tripcode)
i've been loving the designs you guys have been posting
to be honest this kinda reminds me of a play-by-post game I've seen on some other sites called Land Wars, where players design their own troops, make strategies for battles, and fight other player controlled kingdoms over a MS paint map for fun and glory

problem is, well I don't really think there's any good spots to host such a game
can't really do it on 4chan because there's no collapsible spoilers to avoid wall of text/pastebin link spam hell (and trying to get multiple people to use tripcodes to prevent falseflagging/sabotaging other players via impersonation would be easier said than done, and I don't really think there's a board for play by post games besides maybe /qst/ but that's a really slow board

and I don't really know if there's any forum sites with an active subforum for this kind of stuff
maybe discord could work via its thread feature but any server with its invite posted on 4chan is a serious disaster waiting to happen

for those who don't give a shit about the borderline blogposting, or those who only give a shit about posts with images attached, here's a spooky gun thief that will pick up just about any unattended ranged weapon

This is a tough one. On one hand a unit that SUFFERS from powercreep would mean that new, stronger units are added that eventually overshadow it.
But a unit ENJOYING powercreep would mean that the new units/maps/features that appear somehow make this unit stand out more. Which is paradoxical. But not impossible.
Another issue is, that powercreep means that the game around the unit changes by adding new things, so removing features or simply dumbing down others is not an option.
All of this makes writing patch notes extra hard.

Patch 1.01 (launch hotfix)
>fixed an issue that made naval units resistant to meele attacks from non-naval units.
Patch 1.1
>added 4 new 1v1 maps: "lost coast", "pirate cove", "shattered peninsula", "seaside hamlet"
Patch 1.1.1
>map changes. Removed the two bridges on "lost coast"
Patch 1.2
>introducing new resource nodes: fishing spots
>players can now build new unit in docks: fishing boat
>fishing boat needs to be able to travel to a fishing spot and back to friendly controlled dock to unload catch. Generates gold and food income.
Patch 1.2.5
>added new 3v3 maps:
>"shattered islands"
>"endless tides"
>"Baker's Bay"

what does the superweapon do besides blinding opposing players
maybe it could heal its team and give powerful temporary buffs to unit offenses, defenses, and morale, so it’s useful for more than just disrupting other players

Q&A with devs #32
>...And now we have next question: Anon 041 asks: how do you think the new faction will handle in the tournament?
>Thanks for the question anon. We're relatively sure they'll do ok. I mean, we already have good feedback from the players regarding their performance and the forums are still actively discussing their strategies and counters.
>They shouldn't be useless.
>heh, yeah, they shouldn't be useless.
>We believe that they'll bring more variety into the game. They got good infantry, good tanks, fancy things and stuff...
>a ton of RNG...
>a MODERATE amount of RNG, don't exaggerate
>hehe, at the very least they should be entertaining and I expect players to find them to their liking. Now, onto the next question...

Tournament shoutcast
>hallo and welcome to the semi finals of the vstfest tournament, we have another great game for you today.
>on the north side, playing as the Crimson Wagers, it's the HelpfulHeinz
>his opponent, in blue, starting from the south, is BartekPL also playing as Crimson Wagers
>so we've got yet another casino mirror matchup
>so it seems
>you reckon we'll see another Spinner spam?
>It's very likely, but let's wait and see. After all, Heinz is known from trying out uncommon strats
>and here we have early clashes, both players going for resource areas first
>the question is who can use their starters better...
>this map favours the northern play- ooow! Nasty squadwipe of Heinz's scouts.
>it's not over, but the first precious seconds of income are already in Bartek's favour...
>Heinz is going for the nodes closer to him, he's not rebuilding his lost squads
>Bartek is already building a Fortune Factory. Are we going to see 4th minute Spinner?
>He's clearly going for it. Meanwhile Heinz managed to catch Bartek's squad out in the open, nasty exchange, that's gonna cost him.
>and there it is, the first and definitely not last Cascade Spinner of the game, rushing down the center of the map
>Heinz is on the back foot, but his own factory is up and running, his own tank is boud to hit the field soon enough
>Bartek is very aggressive with his Spinner. He knows he can afford it when it's the only tank on the field and he knows that he has to capitalize on this advatage while he can
>He just has to be carefull not to dive too deep. If he loses it early- Oooow! Nasty shot! That 15mm autocannon takes no prisoners, whatsoever.
>He inflicted good losses, now he has to- what is he doing? He keeps pushing in!
>Heinz already has his own tank out, Bartek should pull out of there- He keeps going! Looks like he embraced the casino spirit! He's feeling lucky and going for broke!
>>
>>1564118
>His second tank is already out, pushing forward, but will this be enough to save the first?
>nope. There it goes, first tank kill goes to Heinz
>Now it starts, a game of cat and mouse, or more like a game of tug of war, who can push the other tank off, without risking his own
>as we see, neither of the players is investing in up-teching, instead they're both doubling down on factories and economy
>and for the very good reason, we can see they're both going for the SpinSpam. The question is, who will be the first one to get that criticall mass of tanks, to be able to one-shot the other one...
>Bartek is pushing, but Heinz is holding it hard, he lost another two, but so did Bartek...
>off to the side we have a cheeky squad of FELINs, looking for a factory to sabotage.
>looks like someone bought the skinpack for the bonus costumes
>heh, yeah, the girls in skirts are- wait, there's another push in the middle! Heinz is trying his best to push through and get more map undrr his control
>that's going to cost him. One tank is down. Another is in critical condition
>He's not aborting the push, he's still going...
>Bartek backed off, but the points are still up, there is still time for them to rebuild...
>NYAAA!
>huh? Let's check the map... oh, it looks like the FELINs died sometime during the brawl in the center, looks like we missed it
>>
>>1564135
>but Bartek's factories are still churning out new Spinners, he's not even bothered by infantry anymore, he's doing pure tank spam...
>the time is starting to run short, the advantage is in Heinz's hands, let's see if Bart can flip this around
>there he goes
>he popped the high risk slots
>he's going for it...
>good control, he's not letting them stop, he's picking targets, looking for thhese rear armour hits
>Heinz is backing off, but he has reserves, he's keeping them coming
>ow, unfortunate roll, three hearts fumble...
>excellent reaction from Barteks side, he isolated the troublesome machine, limiting the harm that the dot and vulnerability can cause...
>will that be enough tho? Heinz is counter attacking, the points are ticking, he needs to meke those shots connect, he needs to push him off the point, to get back in control of the zone, but Bartek is not budging, he's sending them into the cap, doesn't carecabout losses, it's all just to keep it for these few precious seconds...!
>but there it goes, the losses were just too fast, too big, he couldn't get that critical mass back before the timer expired
>GG, that's the game, HelpfulHeinz is going to the grand finale, where he'll face off against Lovenest, in this season's most tank-centric tournament so far...
>was that a jab at eccentric or...?
>nah, I meant, you know, centered about tanks...
>yeah. There wasn't a tournament so far where one unit was so prevalent...

Developer notes #34
...
Following the recent tournament, we realised there was something off about the balance. We listen to the players and together with community contributors are working out a patch to fix the balance of the Crimson Wagers. The first version of the balance patch is already avvailable on the closed test server and full patch will be released in the next update, hopefully before the end of this year.

That's the spice. Also briefly watched some CoH games, I real liked their victory point and outpost game mechanic, as well as the ability to pick up weapons, yeah. Other than that, I really like multiple build queues, resources that never deplete, and having multiple resource types for units, ammo, and abilities.

>double dubs
Okay, I'll bite.
For the sake of the conversation, we will assume that the start of the battle is a gradual one like all games. Think of a really early game scenario. We are talking about everything is fine for now and the populace is just seeing some random aberrations of reality popping in and out. They might see some modern anachronisms like weird tanks and such but everything would be fine and dandy. Starting buildings yet to be erected, scouts are mapping the city, etc.
The first unit that comes into mind is the Grabbler.
Like all grabblers in real life, they will not be able to stop themselves from subverting and sabotaging their host country. Grabblers would, based on their description, consider everyone their enemies including themselves. They would hamper any attempt of the Local Government Unit from responding to an early threat of total annihilation.
>Portals start opening
>Monsters of different races hellbent on raping you
>"Oy vey, diversity is our strength."

> Indie Talkshows warn about not trusting the fuckable tank-operating goblins that are not OSHA-certified
>>1438997
>"Goyim, OSHA certification is racist!"
>All copper wirings get stolen and cripple the electrical grid
I would say that the Grabbler would be the one who does the most damage and kills but I do concede that it is of an indirect nature. They aren't the ones who do the killing but they set the stage for the shitshow that is about to commence.

>The Factions
This is where random units who do not belong to a faction start to fall behind. Just like in real life, a single jew is no problem but give them an illegitimate state in sandfuck nowhere, you get a warmongering ethnostate that funds terrorist organizations. Yes, I am biased towards faction units. For what I can tell, we have several factions already. Some of them are pretty fleshed out.

>Entry into the city, first 24hrs
Non-faction units would be grouped into neutral 'Gaia' units littered across the playing field. They might guard resource nodes and/or harass the local populace. We would start to see some civil unrest and fights in the streets but the severity would be along the lines of street-isolated gangwars. The factions I mentioned entered this world for whatever reason and how they entered would matter greatly. The first to sixth faction (first six) are pretty modern and CnC-inspired. In this scenario, they would enter the field looking for resources that just so happen to pop up in the city. Taxes, permits, roads, and logistics (to name a few) these factions ignore would put international eyes on the city. Journalists would have a field day while internal defense would have an aneurysm.
>Vatican (Iron Mountain Gran Monastirus) finally embracing the crusade spirit
>Local sweet shops (Applerica) becoming national militia hotspots
>Junkyards are raided by shortstacks (Caveport Gobguinea)
>Casinos roll out real life genetically modified bunny girls (Crimson Wager).
These factions hog all of the attention while leaving the last two in relative media peace.
>*lves, portal or otherwise, would not look too out of place in the chaotic city.

Early game
At this point, we might be seeing around a hundred deaths and word of mouth spreads a bit of worry in the populace. A few buildings are abandoned due to fear or resource nodes popping up in their foundations. Starting buildings are erected and lines are being drawn. Actual lethal fights will break out between factions and neutral units but fights between factions are extremely unlikely. A block or two of intense but isolated fighting. Think microintensive early game. What they do are based on what I understood from their info cards and fanfic tier delusions.
The First Six will try to scramble to secure prime spots and resource nodes
>T1 units are fielded and lay down small arms fire
>Crystals rise from private property and property laws are violated
The local police forces are overwhelmed at this point but should still be present in some capacity at calming the locals.
Elves, given their assholish nature, will actively drive away the immediate locals. Racial slurs and webms flood /pol/
>The *lf nobles and serfs start some weird looking magical farms
>Market portals for slave trade are opened
>Might catch some eyes in the backdrop of chaos but nothing out of the 'ordinary' for now
>A bit of matchlock fire against interlopers and a bit of whipping here and there
>Rudimentary defenses and perimeters are erected.
The Bakery will lean on its cult origins and try to garner local support. Why be angry at a lovable lump of dough?
>Primordial dough bus out of a bakery and start repurposing buildings
>Locals are unnerved but compared to others, they would probably be fine
>A couple of breaders and their breadings patrol the streets and knock on doors spreading the 'Daily Bread'
>Some are converted into the Baking cult. Overall, pretty safe.
At this point, the army and a state of calamity would've been called but due to Grabblers, it is delayed and even if it wasn't delayed, it is far too late. The UN might start a conference on what to do.

First Contact
Eventually, these factions will meet each other. Some get to form a truce, the rest will kill each other on sight. The notable ones in this hypothetical scenario are:
Iron Mountain Gran Monastirus & Bakery
>Both follow are religious theme
>Both are trying to spread good faith
>Bakery provides pastries, Monastirus provides himbo pastors
>They will probably try to kill each other to purge heresy but the 'Daily Bread' rhetoric binds them together for now
Bakery & Applerica
>Both are (mostly) baked goods
>Close enough that they might be the same kind
>Close enough that resource scarcity will drive them to kill each other earlier than most (will expound on this on future posts)
Wizard Legion & Elves
>The wizard legion might view the elves as assholes and/or fuds
>Elves view the legion as the fall of their kind and/or ADHD zoomies
>Will kill each other on sight
>"High tech rifle staff sights are just a gimmick, sonny"
Local/UN forces & Engineering Coalition
>Shit hits the fan and a metal gear level PMC appears
>EC either gets support or be branded as a terrorist organization
>Fighting is still inevitable though

First Six tactics
To keep things simple, they absolutely win. Early up until end game and beyond. They have the infrastructure and organization to roll out tanks and aerials as if it was microplastics in water.
>Pop out T1s
>Slowly creep out of starting location with overlapping fire
>Neutrals get killed by the buttload
>(Unironically) turtle the moment they get respectable resource control
>Roll out tanks
>Roll out aerials
>Flatten the city
>Wail at each other till the heat death
With their hulking war machines like
>>1505264
>>1502148
>>1472008
The question of property damage is pointless. They will wipe the city clean from the map. It is far better to ask how much does the city cost? As for local casualties they will cause, I would hazard it around 10k dead. Quite a low number, I admit, but the First Six possess organization and probably are interested in resources more than killing the populace especially the Monastirus who will inflict most of its casualties in millions of lonely housewives' and teenage girls' wet panties due to their exorcist squads. The local government will have ample chance to evacuate most of the populace before the fat fucking dragon thighs roll out. https://arch-img.b4k.co/vst/1659070838319.png
The only reason why these factions would have a hard time surviving is they have to fight each other. Specifics on which of them will come out on top is up for debate. If they were to lose, it would have to be in the early phases were they are still hurting for resources and territory. This phase is where most of the discussion takes place as I find no way for them to lose in the later phases.

Elven tactics
The Elves can dominate the First Six early. It will be an uphill battle but it should be possible. Acquiring good map control and resource denial is imperative to make sure the first six won't be able to field tanks.
>Noble and serfs roll out
>Build Barracks and pop out a couple levies
>Noble and levy prioritize enemy resource nodes
>Rush Auxilliary camp and spam Suomis
>>1532995
Why snow elves? They have anti-personnel and anti-armor capabilities that remains relevant up until the end of mid game. The upgrades that should be prioritized are firebombs and runic snares. Firebombs are not for dropping unit models but for the demoralize debuff. More time the enemy spends retreating is less time they spend securing precious nodes. On the other hand, Runic Snares and melee rushing will do most of the killing.
>Prioritize Runic Snares over Firebombs
The inverse should be done if facing against the Monastirus (Priests) or the EC (Engineers). Their T1s are clearly not magical and are immune to snares.
>Plant as much Runic Snares
>Levy as meat shields and bait enemy
>Runic Snare entrap them and lob a Firebomb for good measure
>Melee rush with Suomis and surviving levies, use their movement speed across the city ruins
or
>Levy meatshield
>Suomis flank around and lob a firebomb, rinse and repeat
>Use Noble to dish out the occasional musket fire or use Shooters
Hopefully, the Elves denied the enemy sufficient resources to delay tanks or eliminate it completely. There are several paths they can take.
They can use Shooters to even out the range disadvantage, Hussars to increase harassing capabilities or field Stalkers for their nice passives. I would go with Stalkers. The First Six may not have much stealth but the Bakery has one that can wreck your shit up so much that it warrants stealth detection even if it is a 'just-in-case' scenario.
>Kill enemy before they field tanks
>Use Firebombs, Stalkers and rush enemy base with levy swarm
>>
>>1619125
It goes without saying that nobles are essential and should be kept alive at all times. A bad call or an out of position noble can rout an entire group quickly. Whipping will greatly decrease the amount of position micromanaging.
Property damage is (relatively) tame compared to the first six. Fires might spread but it pales in comparison to concrete flattening. Casualties would be staggering. Lots of MIAs if the elves win due to enslaving local humies. Escaping or routed units might turn bandit and terrorize the local populace. The aftermath might be comparable to the Nanjing massacre if we combine MIAs and KIAs. Newly acquired slaves are sent back to the portals thus obscuring the death toll. It also doesn't help that these elves are likely not to cooperate with the local government.

The boons of an elf win cannot be underestimated though. /pol/ and /k/ threads would be entertaining.
>Be me
>Be a noble
>Hear a vase crash at 3:49AM
>Grab my drip-fed mana musket because that's what Carrion intended
>Run down stairs and see four N'wahs fighting each other
>Blow a golf ball sized hole through the yellow one, he's dead on the spot
>Draw my pistol on the goblin but miss him entirely because it's smoothbore and nails the neighbor's orc
>I have to resort to the pour-loading cannon mounted at the top of the stairs loaded with grape shot
>"Hippy hoppity, Cin are in nin garn!" (you are in my property)
>The grape shot shreds a priest and a goblin, the sound and extra shrapnel rouses my drunken Suomi to harass my neighbor (fucking retard)
>Draw my saber and charge the last terrified graham
>She cracks and crumbles on the spot since saber curves are optimized for slicing
>Just as Carrion intended

Bakery Tactics
The Bakery is in a very tight spot. They are the most melee heavy faction in the scrap fight. Their only viable ranged unit are Croissanteurs which doesn't provide much flexibility. Given enough micro, any commander worth his salt will simply kite the Bakery to oblivion. This faction needs diplomacy to compensate and has the potential to make allies based on their 'peaceful' and 'baking' theme as previously mentioned but the entire gimmick of this faction is their propensity for friendly fire. Units like
>>1539617
>>1540811
>>1544972
plus their superunits can harm allies indiscriminately. Their main man, The Bun Hammer, requires crippling allied training to reach full potential. It won't take long for them to become public enemy no.1. The Bakery has to be the least likely faction to win.

Early Game
In order to win, the Bakery has to overwhelm one of the First Six even earlier than what the elves can do. This tactic is comparable to worker/militia rushing a town center in the first 3 minutes and hoping for the best. Any later, they will be forced to use their ally-harming gimmicks and nullify any allies they made. Their focus should be on locating the nearest enemy HQ, rushing it with sheer determination and finding the next target to do it again.
>Bust out P. doughs and assign 1 as an attack dough
>Pump 2 Breaders and scout around with the attack dough
(Refer to >>1616435 and its following post)
The Bakery's friendly demeanor will cut them some slack. Local police forces and militia will probably not attack and might welcome their presence. This should cut down the amount of neutrals to kill and speed up their scouting.
>Find the nearest HQ
The Bakery SHOULD NOT attack (for now) the Gran Monastirus and Applerica regardless if they are the nearest targets. Prolonging their alliance to these two is tantamount to survival. Diplomacy is key. The less factions they have to rush, the less complicated their early game will be.

The Last Slice
"It has come to my attention that a large portion of the texts in the Servings is irreversibly lost to the ravage of time. This is simply normal and expected in our line of work. The condition of our texts emphasizes the importance of what our breadhood strives to achieve. Despite this, spreading rumors of a so-called fourth slice and his 'murder' of fellow birds is considered as heresy and apostasy. Let me remind you that the Baker bakes! He does not devour for he is not a Devourer."
-Paltbroder Gusto, On the Restoration of Texts and Rumors of Heresy

He makes a large trail of smoke behind him as he moves. My horrible English is probably showing. That is what "in his wake" means, right? The tactic that I see being used is surrounding him with Butter Rams to toast them (immune to fumigate) and utilizing hit and strafe tactics.
>Start fumigating on enemy contact
>Group Uling and Butter Rams together and start strafing
Fumigate + Butter Ram combo would complement each other against towers, range spam and walls but if you can spam Butter Rams for such tactic, you don't need Uling as you can just rush them down with Explosive Margarine.

>Enemy faction located, start rush
>Breaders shit out eggs near enemy base to ensure Breading aggro direction
>Enemy unit engages
>Attack dough stickies enemy while Breaders and Breadings mangle and drop enemy models
The entire encounter should only last for no longer 1 (in-game) minute before the unit retreats or, better, dies.
>Repeat and wail on enemy HQ till crippled (most likely) or destroyed (preferable)
At this point, the Bakery should have enough resources to do a building push to field either a few Jammers or another Breader for replacement (expensive). Staying optimistic, we will go with Jammers.
>Find another HQ
>Jammer starts the fight to prevent micro from enemy command
>Repeat strategy

Mid Game
If all went well, the early game has ended with two enemy factions dead or nearly dead. The Bakery (hopefully) has enough buffer to focus on getting upgrades and field Bun Hammer. The upgrades they should prioritize are:
>Da Yeast >>1540811
>Bread Roll or Better Mix >>1541372
even without fielding a Donut Steel yet
>Magnetic Sprinkles >>1572461
>Tangy Batter >>1541445
(low priority)
>Graham Ballistic Plating & Vile Viennoiserie >>1551322
With the Bun Hammer in the field, rushing becomes an entirely different matter. Instead of killing enemies as quick as possible, the Bun Hammer should attack as much as possible to inflict his devastating passive. Extra seconds in enemy training time adds up massively as the Da Yeast doesn't disappear on training completion. Getting the Graham Ballistic Plating will probably render Applerica as an enemy. Their Main Gingerbattle Tank, M1A2 Graham, probably uses the same material for its parts. Competition for graham plates is considered as a violation of the NAP and thus grounds for war.
>Breaders pin enemy with Bread Roll or Breading swarm
>Bun Hammer engages
>Micro Breaders away to maximize Bun Hammer hits

Next up, the backbone of any mid-to-late game economy.
The guy who unlocks the good shit.

Orks have a unique unit upgrades compared to other factions.
Instead of buying one upgrade at the research building that automaticall applies to all units in the army, Orks need to upgrade each unit individually. The upgrade is then being prepared in one of the designated buildings and applied after the process is finished.
Upgrading research buildings offer more slots and faster processes.
>you want to upgrade armour on your infantry units
>the blacksmith starts working on it
>but one blacksmith can only upgrade 2 units at the time
>for small groups, not a problem. For larger armies, a serious bottleneck.
That means, building multiple upgrade structures is important if you have big enough army and you want them geared up

Resources should be spent on fielding, in my eyes, the best meat shield -Donut Steel. This motherfucking OC patented deviant art piece of scrap lets glass cannons, swarms and other squishies to thrive in a hail of bullets and base defences due to Magnetic Sprinkles. This pastry is going to carry the Bakery up to late game and beyond if timed right. It should be utilized to push and contest choke points and enemy resource nodes but care must be taken to ensure that its skill doesn't backfire as based on the notes, the Bakery's own damage can be redirected.
>Donut Steel rushes garrisons and pops out skill just before death
>Breadings and Bun Hammer push and inflict 10 seconds of ass plapping
>Attack dough stickies anything that tries to kite
The problem with Donut Steel is its suicidal nature. This renders the Fluff upgrade pointless and too much or ineffective pushing could economically cripple The Bakery and lose momentum.

If the Bakery is ready, they should start spamming Breaders and Croissanteurs and get the Janice's Hotpocket Curse passive. Do note that this is where alliances definitely end and the Bakery becomes the common enemy. Applerica and Gran Monastirus probably have tanks now. Applerica might be an enemy even before this as they probably share the same resources as the Bakery. If this is the case, the destruction of Applerica should be prioritized.
>At least 8 Breaders and a handful of Croissanteurs should be fielded
>Breaders group together and lay eggs as often as possible
>Croissanteurs serve as consistent range DPS especially if enemy aerials are made
>The moment the curse passive is active, Bun Hammer should mostly chill at base
>8 Breaders x 5 eggs = 40-48 breadings ~ 4-4.8 seconds of increased training time for EACH BATCH LAID for minimal effort
>plus the stacking from already existing units
>Breadings and Croissanteurs slowly but surely wear the enemy down

Sand Witch and Sand Bitch water traversal is a valuable ability when it comes to river crossings, beach landings and bay defense. Depending on how their water-to-sand works, they might be able to cause on demand flooding in rivers and dams. Because of the First Six, rushing is the only way to win for the Bakery. They wouldn't have time to field slow moving healers to as they are trying to rush. They would also need to research the Loaf of Loathing to convert healers into Sand Bitches.

>>1637020
In an optimistic ending scenario, the super-units of the Bakery do not need to be fielded as all enemies are already dead. Mid to late game is where the Bakery just flops in power even with super units. They could survive till late game to start the Sliced Bread but they are massively outclassed by the variety of units the other factions could provide.

In terms casualties, it depends on when the Bakery loses or if the Bakery wins. Early loss, it would be a question whether bread deaths are counted as casualties. If they field human-y units like croissanteurs, I'd give them around a 1k local population deaths mostly attributed to their recruits' deaths. If they manage to reach Sliced Bread, the entire city is depopulated with surrounding countries also affected. Matzah implies congenital errors. One IRL example is the use of deplete uranium in Iraq and Agent Orange in Vietnam. Rhizopus starts a pandemic of pathogenic house mold. It could be some kind of super AIDS yeast infection. Uling and Gullinkambi casualties won't be too notable based on their lore and passives.

Assuming they win around mid game before they start the Sliced Bread, the city is the most intact in the different scenarios tackled. Deaths might be around 50k or less, a million if you include breading deaths, due to the swarming strategy used. If anything, they might be able to establish their own country or full fledged religion out of this debacle.

Traditionally and historically speaking, crackers, at least in the past, were differentiated from bread by their absence of yeast or leavening agents which made them dense, hard and crack under pressure. Breadnoughts are made out of rolled homogeneous hardtack, graham plating (the one made by Sylvester Graham, not the moderns ones) for firing ports and chocolate-coated pocky sticks to connect the outriggers. These three ingredients are made out of crackers, not bread. The outriggers themselves are made out of two waterproofed baguettes which makes them the only things that are truly made out of bread.
Nowadays, modern crackers use leavening agents and thus are more akin to crunchy plates of bread. Also hardtack is teeth-breakingly hard.

If there is a more history-baking inclined anon, feel free to correct.

Patch 1.01 (launch hotfix)
>fixed an issue that made naval units resistant to meele attacks from non-naval units.
patch 1.1 "New Frontier"
>added 4 new 1v1 maps: "lost coast", "pirate cove", "shattered peninsula", "seaside hamlet". >These maps feature scattered islands, lots of water surface and long sandy coasts.
Patch 1.2 "Rooster expansion"
>Introduced the new units for the Bakery:
>Sand Witch - a support unit that offers good control and healing abilities
>Sand Bitch - a high damage, low HP assasin with unique mobility features
Patch 1.2.8
>Increased the area of sand spawned by Sand Bitch walking by about 33%.
>The sand island spawned by Sand Witch now damages all naval units it displaces
Patch 1.3 "A bridge too close"
>introduced new building type for most builder units: A Causeway
>built on shallow water, the causeway is a land bridge made of sand that allows ground units to cross over the water obstacles.
Patch 1.3.1
>Causeways can be build over deep water as well, but takes much longer to build then.
Patch 1.3.2
>The causeway is now built faster, but is narrower than before. It still allows all but the largest units to pass, but reduces their efficiency as bridges
Patch.1.4.3
>increased the amount of damage per second suffered by the Breadnought when colliding with ground by 25%

Patch 1.5 "Dread not"
>Breadnought no longer takes damage from colliding with sand terrain. When hitting sand with Insoluable Batter ability, it scatters the sand away, allowing him to breach narrow obstacles.

what kind of base building do I need to do to kill 6000000 grabblers in a campaign
any advice?
>>
>>1653812
Unfortunately, it's impossible.
Even if you rushed the tech and expanded immediatedly after campaign starts, you won't be able to build enough structures and even with maxed out upgrades they won't have the processing speed to burn through 6000000 grabblers before the campaign end date.
You have to use mods or cheats to do so.

If we look at the units and discussions presented, you'd have to rely on hacks like one anon said. Even combining the units from the previous thread, it will take you more than 5 years to kill 6'000'000 grabblers. Their very nature is what started the city free-for-all scenario in the first place.
>Weakens enemy
>Enemy fight amongst themselves
Not only do you have to kill them but also kill the goyim they coax into chaos which bumps up the required kill count AND the organizational cost. Anyone saying such thing is possible are lying to you, grabbler mains, paid shills or a combination of those three. The one unit out of all that 'might' counter such grabbl-ish trickery is the Wise Nigga but community vote on it is pretty much inconclusive. >>1628313

Additional Paladin Guard units.
>Deliverance Falcon
Called from the Aviation Ministry, powered by divine chandelier cores that allow them to fly across the battlefield, faster than >>1464230. They can only focus on either ground / air attack roles, or unit transport, or even function as stationary airborne artillery. Slower and expensive than >>1471817.
>Pillar Defender
Trained from the Temple Barracks, these knights can utilize their Blades of Bravery to send a forward divine energy attack (in contrast to the arc of >>1630760, He can also knock back enemy units at a distance. His Pillar Shield can absorb the energy from magic, physical, and even rogue divine attacks, using them as a lv.2 energy shield than can only cover allied units classed as infantry, but he cannot attack while using it.
>Paracleric
Also trained from the Temple Barracks, these knights carry a Flag Spearstaff, imbued with light energy. She can use it to heal or repair her targets, or to "convert" structures for the Paladin's cause, or to even subtract the life and armor of her foes. Her Flag Spearstaff can only focus on either cures, or conversion, or combat at one time, requiring a cooldown for every role change she's assigned to.

>Patch Notes Guy as a strategy game unit
Sounds neat. Could imagine being the type to function like a niche construction-type unit that can create spaces or tiles that may cover units, structures, terrain, and interactive scenery to have buff/nerf effects. Honestly, the power to be a worldbuilder can be incredibly complex, especially if his function can do a little addition or subtraction down from the stats, and up to adding/removing terrain, to trap and destroy entire bases like that. Incredible...
>>
>>1668475
Just make it have an aura that regress all units in range to previous versions.
Each Patch Notes Guys regress the unit by one patch.
Completely useless at release, endless cheese possible toward the end of the game's life.
Make it really squishy even by infantry standard, so that there is some easy counterplay to keep things from snowballing too hard.

this isn't just about making it SOUL, painting in paint is actually better for novices because the drawings end up really noisy (paint uses very basic smoothing), and noise tricks to brain to smooth it over to whatever would be most natural looking. It's a cheap trick to upgrade your art and why sketches often look better than the final design.
A better option would be paint.net because it's the same as paint but with layers and also some extra options you can ignore.

Patch 1.18

BakeryAnon here.
We should probably talk about archiving/collecting the units, patch notes, and the free for all scenario posted here. B4k is nice but we should have a more accessible library(?) I am not sure how the it should be done as some units here like the flintlock elves have systems outside their images.
Here is a mega for the Bakery units. I corrected some of the words and inconsistent names.

Also, I got a bit inspired by the free for all and wrote the start of Battle Brownie x Pockey Jockey. No smut, yet.

This introduces interesting strats.
Large hulking units will be force to separate from their fodder allies. Though, you can probably game it by swarming the converter with large hulking units with a smidge of fodder to get a free upgrade. Might not matter much to 1v1 but it should get hectic when it come to team matches between randoms.
>>
>>1730752
Wonder how'll you sort it? By faction? By fantasy or science era theming? Also, if the whole thread from first to last post gets saved as a compilation, or? Also, if bump limit is 500, image limit's 300.
>>
>>1730871
They’ll be sorted by faction, if they’re specifically made for one
otherwise I’ll put them in folders based on theming/purpose/genre/whatever seems fitting
I’ll probably also open a file request link so people can drop their own things in without me needing to manually save them
also the 300 image limit is irrelevant given that we’re clearly nowhere close to it yet we’re less than 10 posts away from bump limit
and on /vst/ threads generally only last a few days after hitting bump limit (source: I used to frequent the starsector threads until they went to hell and back a few months ago)
regardless we’ll likely have enough time to catalog everything in an easy to view place whenever someone decides to make the next thread
it’ll also serve as a helpful reference if /vst/ ever decides to get shit done and starts making their own RTS
