>>1315984This is the furthest I got with Crown Falls before getting overwhelmed (was my first game and I was not ready for skyscraper needs)
>>1315984haven't played in quite a while
A renowned personage has arrived!
>>1315984You can't imagine the hate I feel about those slopes.
>>1316009is this on a 10x10 grid?
>>1315984First time playing 1800, only briefly played 1404 prior to this.I'm getting overwhelmed trying to prep to move my main civilization to crown falls. Thinking about downgrading the ditchwater artisans who don't have jobs due to the actor, and using the workers to get all the raw materials for the engineers.
>>1316012why if it isn't jack tar himself
>>1316038I wouldn't do that - those artisans without jobs still provide income for you.In Crown Falls you'll have enough space for any of those. But I'd personally get to investors before starting Crown Falls, because it'll allow you to plan layouts better, as you'll already have buildings for further needs.
>>1316045The problem is I need to vastly increase my worker workforce to make pretty much anything in the engineer tier. Should I just start moving industry and agriculture to other islands and have ditchwater be fully residential?
>>1316047You don't need as many as you think you do - and you can get more workers easily, no need to get rid of artisans.Once you start making electricity the production shoots through the roof.
>>1316047>have ditchwater be fully residential? The workers on ditchwater won't be able to go to trelawney because it's considered a separate instance, so you're either looking at importing all of your goods to crown falls or moving your industry to trelawney. if you do the latter I suggest turning ditchwater into a self-contained industry island and have it export something to trelawney (I personally turn it into a construction material exporter)
>>1316050>turn it into a construction material exporterThat's kinda what I was thinking of as plan B. Most of my playthrough has been self sustaining the growth, but generally only having construction materials as any viable export since there's no overt consumption of it other than my own progression.
>>1315969Is it worth buying 1800?
>>1316029It is yeah.>>1316038is there a way to tilt the camera or get a free camera on 1404 or 2070?
>>1316057I have no idea, anon. It's been like 10 years since i played 1404
>>1316056Yes.And assuming your next question is "is it worth buying the DLC's?":>BotanicaNo>Sunken TreasuresYes>The PassageDepends, do you like the show 'The Terror'? If so yes. If you don't care, skip it until sale.>Seat of PowerEh.>Bright HarvestYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES.>Land of LionsYes>Tourist SeasonYes>DocklandsYes>High LifeYes>Seeds of ChangeYes, but it's undercooked, so wait for sale.>Empire of the SkyYes>New World RisingYes
>>13159691800 is my first Anno game, I bought it on steam sale, spent 60 hours on my first few saves getting overwhelmed, deleted it all, and I am currently 80 hours in on my new main save. All that said, I'm mostly focusing on comfy building and I don't care about war and conflict that will just fuck up my trade routes and annoy me. I keep Bente and Qing around because the first is a huge slut and the other is submissive, and both are attractive. Today I started making my city look less shit, because the rail design I had was too intrusive (road-wall-rail-rail-wall-road) and cut up my island way too much for my liking. My main road from the docks was mostly unused, but now I shuffled almost the entierty of my island around to make it shape up like in pic related. If I come across as rambling is because I've been... I just checked the clock and I did NOT realise it was already bedtime... so it turns out I've been sitting here the entire fucking day and just have had coffee for breakfast and nothing to eat. This game is fucking dangerous and if I had any sense at all I would uninstall it and never play it again.
>>1316061Wouldn't it be better to just say "grab all season passes" or "grab complete edition"?On sale it's better value than to pick and choose, especially the completed edition.
>>1316095Looking on Steam, Year 4 Complete is 120 bucks. I guess you save money, but it all depends on your budget whether you should buy the DLC's piecemeal or try to compare the cost and see if you save.
>>1316097On sale it should be 60 - that's the price it launched with on Steam. For that money it's great value. Though despite being "complete edition", you don't get the cosmetic DLC.
Just buy the base game and use UplayR2Unlocker
>>1316108You could do this, but at the same time I really would recommend supporting the Anno devs so Ubisoft doesn't sell them to Microsoft or EA.
>>1316061actually the answer is "no" for every dlc, the base game is perfect and the dlc is tacked-on feature bloat
>>1316123Objectively wrong in the case of Bright Harvest. Vanilla feels unplayable.
>>1316123New world rising is more or less required. New world was way undercooked in vanilla.
>>1316056The devs deserve every penny you give them, so the only question is whether or not you're willing to give Ubisoft their cut. If the latter is a point of contention, then I won't blame you for pirating it.
>>1316132New World has the same problem that Lunar had in 2205 (not that was the only problem with the game). Two tiers are simply not enough for your major colony, you need three. If you only have two tiers, then you're basically encouraged not to bother maxing out all their needs.
Beryl would not peace out with me so I took all her old world islands. Now those islands provide raw goods to feed my tourist and industry islands. Later they'll help me set up Crown Falls. Stupid irish woman.
>>1315984they need to add a mechanic that encourages you to put workers near their workplaces
Can you skip arctic storyline?
>>1316192if you want arctic airships and nate's items you can't, but if you don't care for either go aheadnote that helium airships work in the arctic, I'd even recommend using them for scrap hunting
>>1316197Is there any point to building those? Just seems like too much effort for what they bring compared to helium airships.
>>1316231It's a product of Arctic's airships originally intending to be a special reward for that area, and then the devs said "fuck it" and gave you airships at New World tier 2.
>>1316109I mean ubisoft itself probably will get sold to one of them.
>>1316252Ubisoft can't be sold wholesale. It's basically a bunch of development studios in a trenchcoat. They'll sell off their assets before merging with M$.

>>1316407Are you ready to, heh heh, bail me out?
>>1316416GULTY TILL YOU PROVE YOURSELF INNOCENT

>>1316355Imagine if she was blonde.Perfection.
>>1316418I like how Jornalero just tells you off with "I have work to do".>>1316259I could see Microsoft being interested in Bluebyte/Anno - considering how hard they are pushing the RTS games.

>>1316092>Bente>a huge slutBente is pure and good, anon. She's also the best Jorgensen, though there's not much competition in that field.
>>1316181If they did that they'd need to make services serve a way larger area, or simply make islands bigger. Would be great to not have a outer periferee of farmers in any city who should be living out among the farms, but there isn't enough space to make tiny farming communities that all need their own church and marketplace.

There is NO PORN off Qing and I am SUFFERING
>>1316511No porn of the two besties Bente and Qing, the former sexually corrupting the latter into depravity. No porn of cute explorer girl warming up and getting sweaty with a lover in her tent in a shared sleeping bag.
>>1316511>>1316522if there was porn of said characters it would probably be german pornbe grateful

Instead I'm sitting here blue balled everytime she asks "May I...?". The coffee break prompt might as well be "It's been two hours. How about a nice furious jerk off session."
>>1315984The New World big island is a blessing and a curse.
>>1316573I literally cba with the new world every island you go to build on is just covered in fucking oil fields
>>1316578The new islands they generate are less fucked, still covered in oil, but they have less fucking rivers so you can actually fill them and build pretty big. The main one pictured here has no oil cause it has "progressive" renewable energy caused by mass flooding of pristine jungle which is pretty based. I still turned the island into a giant oil port for my tractors though.
>>1315984Anno 1404 cities OK? My potato PC can't run 1800 (which is probably for the best, since I wasted a good year and a half just playing 1404).
>>1316645>Anno 1404 cities OK?yes how do you get a free cam/camera tilt in 1404?After 1800 I can't play without a free cam
>>1316697>yesNice.>how do you get a free cam/camera tilt in 1404?Press F1, IIRC. It's not like in 1800 where you can get a pedestrian view of the city but it's decent enough.
>>1316539>>1316511I don't see the appeal of princess Qing desu, she looked a lot better in the concept art.
There were a number of NPCs that didn't make the cut, pic related. There was a dazzling con man, an Ottoman princess, a Goth occultist and a mob boss. I think the Ottoman girl would have been interesting, opening possibilities for an Orient region like in 1404.
>>1316780When are we getting the Asia DLC?
>>1315969Is this game any good? The aesthetics are cool at a distance, but the grid thing looks SO incredibly dull. like this, no offense.>>1316092
>>1316708that's really good looking anonI just tried f1 but that's not enough. Apparently to get the free cam you have to edit files.
>>1316793>Is this game any good?Yes. If you don't like grids then don't build grids
>>1316780I hate that the Anarchist won. He's so boring. They try to do some stupid Animal Farm thing with him, but it's super half assed.
>>1316780>tfw no 19th century goth poet gf
>>1316583I went looking for mods because I want to really get into the new world (and I don't mind the snake rivers on some islands that could make for interesting town shapes). I saw a mod saying that you can use researchers or something to move oil fields? I don't need to cheat for oil because you can get all the oil you ever need with magnetist and electrical engineer I just hate every island having 19 oil fields spread out everywhere stopping any decent building attempts. Also your two screens are pretty cool and make me want to finally go past oberos. Some nice work anon.
>>1316844>you can use researchers or something to move oil fieldsYeah, it's a 'major discovery' iirc but it gets pretty damn expensive at a certain point research-wise
>>1316846Ah, that's a shame. It will give me something to aim for. The enbesa quests are a bit of a slog tbf
>>1316815>that's really good looking anonThanks anon, I spent more time than I'd like to admit on it.>Apparently to get the free cam you have to edit files.Yeah, I'm not savvy enough to tamper with the files so standard tilted view for me it is.
>>1316856That's really well done as well. You should upgrade your rig and get into 1800 you would lose even more time.
>>1316780I think E got recycled into the inspector in the silver scenario/generic enemy captain/non-masked pyrtorian. Sort of the same hat and facial hair, same posture, and both look like a pissed-off artisan.C really should have been the tourist instead of the colour-swap visitor that we got.
>>1316823He didn't win, Gasparov did. They decided to add Hugo in anyway.
>>1316791You can't at this stage add another continent, it'd be too crowded. If I had the choice I'd take Asia over Africa. You probably could get away with being a lot more accurate to history in Asia as compared to Africa (don't even know if there was much trade or cultural exchange between Ethiopia and the europeans at that point in history). If you want irrigation issues then I have good news, China has a lot of climates, so you could well add both too arid and too boggy islands on the same map. You could even include more understandable lifestyle goods to boot. Can't really see an average victorian worker importing smoking pipes or hibiscus petals from another continent, but I can see him import porcelain or tea, as it was done historically.
>>1316993I feel Enbesa seems to be a stew of both Arabic and Ethiopia. It feels very stage that there is no Asia considering Princess Qing exists and the Opium Wars and western powers humiliating China in general were part of the timeframe.
>>1315984
There ought to be some sort of essay or study on city builders, what they abstract & their baked-in assumption on how society/economy works.Like, Anno 1800 don't bother with physical movement of people (and barely of goods, once it's in a warehouse it teleports) within an island, nor does it concerns itself with unemployment (on the contrary, unemployed pop pay taxes, but isn't used in a building costing you upkeep)I'm drunk, and can't elaborate much more, but I'd really love to see some midwit faggot like Bret Devereaux do a serie about that.
>>1317011Yeah, I really wish Asia got its own map. They did say there won't be any more "seasons", but I guess that doesn't mean there's no chance of standalone DLC pack.
>>1317026I think they also said that there aren't going to be more regions due to optimization concerns, and that's why Seasons 3 and 4 didn't have any new ones.
>>1316488I need a pic of this at night
>>1316708dude i wish they added orientals in 1800
>>1316780Looks like she became Kahina, what a downgrade.
>>1316993If they built another game in this time period they should put in India AND China, both really important to the setting and full of planty of interesting resources/luxuries/items/etc.
>>1317080I don't see that happening, not anytime soon(understand a decade) anyway.Their games' years' digits always add up to 9.Which makes anything 19XY a no go.The closest thing would be something either 1710 or 1701, latter which already happened. It did have only small bits of china iirc, nothing like even 1404. I guess they could "remake" it.I guess you could still set it in the 16th or even late 15th century, but I don't see how well could you differentiate it or make it actually interesting compared to 1800 which had so many interesting things.
Anybody try the demo for the new Steamworld game? They copied the residence upgrading mechanic from Anno.>>1317086They're not gonna let a naming easter egg stop them from using a good setting.
>>1317080If they did another game set in the 19th century, they should do an Asian themed amalgamation of China, Japan, and Korea to not step on toes; and have the plot be the colonization of Australia. Go full alt timeline.

I've been developing Crown Falls for hours and hours, shuffling around districts etc and left the rest of the world to their own devices. But recently I started to focus on the smaller islands to shift dirty production away from the capital. I've also neglected a bunch of basic needs that I should deal with. So much to do, to make more efficient, and to optimise. On a side note, I really like the mod that give you the option on making higher tier Worker and Artisan residences.

What's the point of monitors? Battlecruisers seem way better, even with the extra cost considered. Is the advantage if you don't micro at all and just throw ships at problems to get back to city building or something?
>>1317507I like it but I hate that it's basically one big hill. Everything looks shitty at street level.
Explain haciendas to a brainlet
>>1317575radius-based special farm/production/houses, acts as a pseudo state department as well. population increases radius of hacienda effects as well as where you can build special modules
>>1317587Does the commuter pier affect that population radius? Thinking about building it on that big new world island and having the population commute in
>>1317589Nope, the population has to be on the same island
>>1317575They're basically a company town where civilian and agriculture/industrial needs are merged. It is not implemented well, though. The idea would have been better suited to a 2070 remake, where the Tycoons have a literal company town and the Edens have a commune.
>>1317575tiny farms
>>1317645Tiny farms + big residences
>>1317654I cba with hacienda residences because they need more of a foot print for schnapps, hot sauce atole. They have a use pre investor if you need some influence
>>1317657Yeah I filled up Manola with a massive Hacienda and now I'm thinking I'll be better off if I just trash it and use normal residences.
>>1317661Yeah I've got a Hacienda at the top of a hill on Manola but there aren't enough ornaments/tiles for what I want. Keep it for those farms, fertilizer and breweries though. As >>1317617says Hacienda is just not implemented well. Line those farms up and then get an Arborist on them and you will not even need tobacco farms which have a ridiculous footprint for tiny new world islands. Arborist also makes farms smaller hahahttps://anno-toolkit.jansepke.de/en/items/guildhouse
>>1317657They're useful post investor too, especially if you're on higher difficulty settings because the influence you gain is the same regardless. You also don't have to fully supply them since the influence is per residence so you only need to give them enough to keep them from moving out.
Do you guys beauty build your industrial islands or just your main residential ones?
>>1317676Just Crown Falls.Everything else exists to be ruthlessly efficient in order to feed the city.

I'm playing a sandbox game against 3 hard AIs, and things are going well enough. My first priority was getting some islands in the old world and building at least two turrets per harbour area. The land grab got Lady Hunt and Admiral Silva te declare war, but they've lost a lot of ships trying to get through the straits between two of my islands. I got to the new world much later than the rest, and had to pick off a few lightly defended islands from Lady Hunt. Now I have 3 new world and five or six old world islands, enough to build several cities. I'm going to get to engineers or even investors before moving over to Cape Trelawney. I want to be sure I can quickly settle several islands there before the AI. Pic related, my modded church in my main city. The new world cathedral is also nice, but that's for later because of its high upkeep and build costs.
>>1317323very based i can never get people to pvp, one friend rage quit forever cause i took his pepper island
>>1317817Your harbor still looks like shit, btw.
Turns out naming a new game the same as a previous one overwrites the older save. 100 hour save down the drain, oh well.
>>1317900No old autosaves?
>>1317901I can double check after work. At least I learned a lot from that save that I can apply on future runs if nothing else.
How would you guys rate the season passes based on importance? I'm thinking of picking two up + base game just to try it out before getting the rest if I like it
>>1318030Season 2 > Season 3/4 > Season 1. Season 2 is worth it for Bright Harvest alone.
>>13180301, 4, 2, 3.First includes a very unique region in the arctic. I don't necesarily think it's that fun, but it's the most different region to build in, it has airships, so you get a feature that an entire DLC was based around as well. It also has Crown Falls which is basically just to let you city-build to your hearts content.Fourth was a bit of a nothingburger save for New World Rising which was sorely needed, more or less fixes the issues with the New World. Everything else is superfluous in that pack.Second was meant to have Africa as its "big" DLC, but it's the least interesting continent to play on, and that includes Cape Trelawney which is just the old world again with a salvaging gimmick. Bright Harvest is the best part of the pack and it's just tractors and other farm efficiency boosts.Third doesn't do anything for me really. Tourists feel a bit out of place, docklands is powerful but not fun, skyscrapers to me feel like arbitrary difficulty stapled on to the endgame.
>>1318030Year 4 Complete Edition - with all season passes, no cosmetic DLC - goes on sale for 60 on steam. If you want just uPlay, then you can get it from official key sellers for 50 most of the time.
>>1317477Thanks. I was aiming for something similar to pic related for the tower.
>>1318030Depends on what you find important.OP Cheese? Season 2 and 3 by far. Having the Palace, Wakanda, and Docklands is pretty much the trifecta of cheese.Do you like building? Probably Season 1 and 4 because it has Creative-mode Falls and the new Hydro-Dam Island.
Should I storm Vincente's harbour, anons? I have a feeling I'll win, but lose 75% or more of my fleet. Those flame turrets are brutal. Right now I'm just sinking everything trying to get in or out of his main city.
>>1318258I would just get a Battleship and snipe them with the longer range. You have a neat blockade setup, but wouldn't win in an assaultLosing all those ships would be a waste.
>>1318258Keep up the blockade and like the other anon said, siege them with a battleship. you might need a telescope item to outrange the cannons but it's heavily preferable to losing a ton of ships
I really hate how sieges work in 1800. They implied that both sailing ships and battleships were equally good, just in different circumstances; but it really is "battleships or nothing".
>>1318266>>1318281I'm still at artisan level, so I'll have to power through and set up those production chains first.
>>1317751nice screen my friend. That is a good tall church but I like the chimney aesthetic. I am tempted to download Jakobs Collection mod but some stuff in there looks fucking stupid (pescatarian ??) I want diagonal streets though
>>1318351He's kind enough that you get the option to install whatever mod you prefer.
>>1318353Do you use the Jakob? I know someone in this thread is using the railroad texture. That and the New World street texture looks good
I won the sea battle for the island, and the damage wasn't that bad. I managed to recover my legendary item from amidst the debris as well. Now Vicente isn't really a threat anymore, and the military budget is a bit lower now. I'm going to focus on my economy again, first to fulfil all the worker's needs again and then the artisans. I've built my old world farms with room for tractor sheds and Vicente's island has oil wells, so I know what I'm going to do next.
>>1318284I'd guess it's for balancing reasons for those few who play comp multiplayer. If someone rushes new world for engineers then they could monopolize it with their battleships if they were unquestionably best. No new world for the other players means no engineers means no way to fight back.>>1318281Have they made the AI reliant on goods finally? Last I tried blocading them I eventually found out that they don't care about that and simply progresses based on how they SHOULD be able to from what islands they own.

Anno 1800 is pozzed to hell. No point in denying that. The game itself is good despite the black scholars (kek) and female engineers (lol). You can just pirate it which I did initially before buying.
I'm at the final 2 investor needs which all seem to be made in the NW. Should I stop here and start on Crown Falls now?

Disregarding all the fags whining about retarded gay political shit nobody cares about, anyone else wish there was ways to import other biome seeds to the OW NW and vice versa? Be pretty cool to import Coffee seeds to places like Embesa considering stuff like Arabic Coffee exists.

I'm surprised you can't grow chocolate or coffee. You'd think Ketema would ask for agricultural imports to help diversify his food supply and build up exports to pay for any goods he imports. Although sanga, indigo and spices are decent exports.

>>1320782>Then Enbesa must diversify its economy to be able to afford its imports. There is no such risk in Enbesa due to our peaceful unification.>A steady supply of coffee, chocolates, and tobacco will be a good start to trade relations, but will leave us vulnerable to eventual fluctuations in commodity prices. Or so Biniam tells me. And we will no longer need to import tobacco as well, which should lower prices, make my people happy, and remove an import that we must pay for. They're still screwed without heavy industry to build up defenses. Unless Ketema's northern provinces where he build ships also has unseen steel foundries.
>>1320754>You'd think Ketema would ask for agricultural imports to help diversify his food supplyAll he cares about is shiny stuff at the expense of agriculture. Very realistic.

I got some specialist that lets me build something called the Extravaganza Steamer it has maintenance of 100 and slightly better stats than the steam cargo ship so every so often when watches are maxing out I just send one of them to Enbesa. I just rage quit because I was spam clicking through the story, failed some challenge and a priestess lady demanded an epic or greater artefact. You're supposed to use the land defences mod to place turrets alongside straits you can't normally defend, but I decided to place three cannons on the cliff overlooking the valley where the poor worker/peasant quarter is going to be. The artisans and engineers will live in the mountain district, and the military-grade cannons will remind the lower classes not to riot or rebel.
Anybody else here get overwhelmed by Crown Falls size?I am sitting looking at a mostly empty island just not knowing where to start. I think I am going to RP (sort of). I've done the same as you with the east coast but I have sandmines there too and I've been experimenting with the harbour city mod leading up to those ship yards and sand mines. I think I'm going to do something like this with the palace down by where you have the tourist port.
>>1324145>that airport
So for the New World continent island, does it make more sense to ship goods from there to the Old World and then to Cape Trelawney if I've got a corner port in the Old World? Going all the way across the New World Map to then go to Trelawney seems like it might be longer and more dangerous.
