The difficulty in Anbennar is weird. When I first started playing I thought it was way harder than base EU4. Went back to base EU4 and tried to play Scotland and found myself sitting around not doing much with no opportunities to really declare on England. I think I've realised while Anbennar has more difficult situations, it gives you so many tools to get out of them. Like base EU4 is still just take a billion loans and hire all the mercenaries if you are in trouble, and I hate that shit.

It's been a while since I played EU4 and Anbennar but I think you can enforce peace to get involved in a colonial conflict. Also I remember Venail having a whole thing where you migrate away from your little island, so do that.

Also, use enforce peace when you can. Adventurers get 20k stacks, and only you can build up that much.

So keen for the Oni to be complete. Everything before their formable was easy as fuck and I love easy nations. Especially mosntrous nations, since those are usually pretty hard. You get a dedicated "fuck off for a bit longer" button you use on the Command every few years and can just steamroll everything to your east.Then you form a new nation, but everything in that 2nd tree was unlocalised last I tried.

Dunno if they'll be my first though when they do the big update. Those airship merchants sound fun.Or maybe gold kobolds.

The only reason for Lorent to attack you is

In the early game you can just block Lorent with your fleet and Calasandur who's the best admiral in the game. You could also try to ally Lorent if they are willing.
When you form Aelnar you should already sell that shitty island to Lorent or whorever's going to buy it, it's not worth keeping it at all and buffs the sell provides boosts you in a very good way.

Sadly i'm playing on pirated copy, and i don't see an easy way to update to 1.33. I also get the feeling that i won't be able to use my current saves if i updated my eu and anbennar to bitbucket version.

Anyway i just found the file for the modifier, so i'm just gonna fix it myself seriously.

The more I read the grey eminence dev diary the better it sounds for Anbennar to switch development to that once it releases.

Victoria 3 is looking like Imperator all over again and the mechanics and simulation in Grey Eminence (plus how they’re trying to make it easily mod able) seem to make it the best choice.

The time period basically covers EU4 + Vicky 3 which is perfect since the Anbennar setting was initially conceived as being in an early 1800’s period but has obviously mainly been developed for 1400’s-1700’s.

It would allow for more interesting goals than just blobbing like in eu4.

So it turns out if you play as blademarches and want to conquer the deepwoods for the mission you don't have to be a pussy and slowly conquer them one by one once you've taken escann, you can just go in around 1500 with all your mil buffs, attack the biggest one, co-belligerent them all since they're always allied, slap all of their asses at once since your military is busted as shit and they're behind like 3 techs, and then seperate peace vassalize each of the smaller ones before taking a chunk out of your main target and peace out.

I technically got like 300 AE in that one war, but since the wood elfs are geographically isolated and both a different culture + religion literally no one gave a shit, I took a combined 350 dev in total in that one war and only got like 40 AE with Wex and like 30 with Gawed.

Now all I need is a second war against the last remaining wood elf nation and mop up the small orc and goblins that are left and I'll have the deepwoods by 1530.

If there's one thing that pisses me off about the dorfs even though they're my favorite part of the mod then it's that there's no good dwarf empire tree in the entire mod.
Adventuring around and purging orcs is fun, and there's a lot of great dorf MTs like krak, mithradhum, gulan, kazad, skomdihr and (from what I've heard but I haven't done myself) dromak, but all of them either stay contained within their region, mostly just focus on their gimmick or are done by 1550.
And the two tags that are supposed to be about dorf unification, amldihr and aul-dwarov, are basegame EU4 tier.

Just give me a dorf tag that first devs their own region, then blobs into all other dorf holds, then just builds up everything or something.

I think you're right. Late-game gnome units look amazing. But right now, even with a full back row of artillery I get fucked in the shock phase every time. I'm still winning wars but it's so annoying how close the battles are when the enemy is hilariously out-gunned.

It doesn't work well. They have extremely inflated aggressiveness and combat ability, so to wipe them out using the interaction you need to have very clear superiority. It also costs hundreds of mil points to even attempt to clear a province, setting you back years on mil tech. Which sucks, because increasing your mil tech is the single best way to marginalize the natives. At tech 3 you lose most of your 12k stack every time they rise up, at tech 6 your 4k stack can fend them off with minimal losses. Feel free to waste your points like anon says, though.

Part of it is that there are a few MPfags on the team, and I'm sure they'll try to balance the game for MP so that the mod is usable there. I don't think this is bad, since even moderately ridiculous numbers can make a big difference, but plenty of nations still feel different in MP.
That said, there are also anti-MPfags who oppose balance and such, and create MTs like Nuugdan Tsarai, which don't work well in MP. This also isn't bad, since singleplayer and multiplayer shouldn't play like each other.

What matters is that you keep general systems and mechanics balanced so that you can have stable MP games, while individual nations can get as weak or strong as their flavor demands, MP balance be damned.

Basically, they blob hard early game, but don't scale. They don't get institutions or tech as a horde, while Daxugo/Guwaamud keep the debuffs but lose the horde buffs. And Daxugo also gets a disaster that can end your campaign.
All that, when you don't get bonuses to compensate - you don't get much dev cost, army quality, or manpower after settling down, when those are the 3 most important factors for a nation.

MP nations tend to be evaluated on their manpower, army quality, economy, and early game strength (for snowballing). Manpower and economy are both determined by the quantity-eco-quality dev meta (with vanilla ideas), but some nations handle these better than others. Army quality comes down entirely to the nation, such as how Centaur cavalry is busted or how Elves get discipline stacking.
Of all those things, Daxugo gets nothing, which means it's easy for an Oni or One Xia or even Bim Lau player to kill them and take their lands, which can get rather wealthy.

You want to do both. Each point of military development adds 250 manpower, and you also develop production on the side, which gives 0.2 goods produced per click - all this at a cost of under 10 mana per click (if you optimize). The goods produced also increase trade value of various nodes, so it adds significant income. The quantity-eco-quality dev meta means that nations start getting to 1M+ manpower, and conquest alone isn't enough to create armies of that size.
Finally, developed provinces also cost more to conquer, so it's harder to lose land when all your provinces have 21 development.

Developing provinces is the best thing you can do, but expansion is necessary so you can develop more provinces for the minimum possible mana costs.

Offensive is the best military idea group now because as of last patch the AI spams tier 8 forts like a motherfucker and it gives you the best siege modifier in the game. It may surprise you but your problem is might actually be taking too many military ideas. Military tech is the number one priority, and having 3 mil idea groups, especially if you're taking them early, means your mana is gonna be spread thin. A single level in military tech is almost always worth more than 2 or 3 ideas and you should pretty much always aim for teching whenever possible.

I had a similar problem while playing ck2 with after the end mod, i just switched to a different character and basically played new game with the monster i created. Although in ck2 the ai is never as good as you on administering so you can do this without losing.

Most countries in game are human, and everyone has access to this mod's unique pop system where you can either gradually accept other races or say fuck it and expel/purge them. Your milage will vary on how human supremacist you can RP yourself as being.
One of the mod's premier pieces of content, though, is the empire of Castanor, which is essentially the Roman Empire expy. Their whole schtick is being the ultimate humans ruling over everything. The 2nd emperor of ancient Castanor, essentially Augustus Caesar, is named Castan II Beastbane because he burned a subcontinent spanning forest to ash and scattered wretches like the centaurs and fae to the winds, and you have a whole chain of missions to continue where he left off and level the beastly hordes. All while maneuvering to culture convert all humans to your version of humanity and purging the elves as you see fit.

You can purge races as anyone but there aren't really any human countries explicitly designed around it. In general there's a conflict between the monstrous races (orcs, goblins, kobolds, gnolls, etc) and the civilized ones (humans, elves, dwarves, hobbits, etc) so most human nations will purge or expel orcs and goblins from their land for example, but they generally don't mind elves or gnomes. Gawed is probably the most notable human supremacists but even then they really only hate elves on top of the monstrous races, they still don't have a problem with e.g. hobbits who make up a major part of their empire. I mean you can still purge the hobbits as them, just don't expect any special content for it.

Venail and their formable Aelnar is the most racist nation in the game by far but they're elf supremacists, still the best choice if you just want to play 16th century Nazis though.

Because elves are naturally gifted at magic the nobility of Cannor pretty much immediately started mixing with the elves so that they'd have magical heirs and 400 years later most of Cannor is now ruled by a mixed human/elven aristocracy. Gawed is one of the few exceptions to this and still retains a pure human nobility and as a result resents elves for the influence they have over the rivals, especially Lorent which is even more dominated by the half-elven aristocracy than Anbennar.

That's a dynamic incident that's also in vanilla. It fires for any country that's PU'd by a member of the empire after some X+random number of years. That's not specific to Corvuria and can fire as many times as there are external PUs.

But a) The haless release will be in the end of may, so everything will come back to normal and b) you can always start brainstorming and preparing stuff, and once the Discord opens up for new ideas you already have something to join the discussion with

I think you can do it via ruler, but their proficiency in divination must be sufficiently high. Or cast it though the estate with sufficiently high influence.
That's just speculation from me though, as the mission states it must be a "strong" feast
