What JRPG character death hit you the most?
Hinawa, the game told me I must feel bad about it
>>971514You must really hate Mother 3 huh.
RIP Shadow after you save him from floating continent.
>>971490Magus.Knowing you can recruit him, but not how, and then just fucking killing him feels like shit.
One of the first times in my life I realized the good guys could lose in a way that was impossible to truly recover from
>>971490Based ashita no spammer
>>972787fugg this. alys death made me stopped playing for two years.
>>972787That, and the catgirl croaking in 2. Goddamn WTF.
>>974706Watercolor artwork has so much sovl
>>971490>character doesnt have a single line of dialogue and only exists in a 10 minute text sequence>their death still hits like a truckHow did they do it?And how did they fuck up the main plot so badly at the same time?
>>971490Alice in Shadow Hearts
>>971490>which fictional character death>hit you the most???
>>972573That scene at the ending where Dart leaves him a drink always gets me.
>>975013That scene always gets me too
>>971490Guillo was too based for this world
Technically everybody is dead in Valkyrie Profile (Lenneth,) but --in particular Yumei and Nanami-- really get to me thinking about the lives they left behind or how everything about their lives was just one fucking big tragedy until they die and then are forced to go fight in a war of the Gods because the world's ending. But legit: Crono from Chrono Trigger-- even knowing full well he could be brought back was the first time I really felt the absence/loss of a character in a game. The Lavos fight was futile, the way he disintegrated was creepy, and I was a a dumb kid back in the day and couldn't figure out the timing to get past the wind trap on the mountain during my first play through so it legit felt like I couldn't get him back until I fucking finally figured it out.Honorable mention goes to FF9 where I thought-- up until the very last moment it was possible--that Zidane actually died.
>>978691The real FFIX gut punch was Vivi
>>978691>Honorable mention goes to FF9 where I thought-- up until the very last moment it was possible--that Zidane actually died.I still tear up every time I remember that ending>then I ask the twin moons>bring my Garnet to me!
>>971490Veronica in Dragon Quest XI. It really makes the early part of Act 3 much more heartwarming in a sense.
>>978558This. Everything since the imperial elections scene is hearthbreaking but the ending escape scene always brings me to tears.
>>981447heartbreaking* my bad
>>971490Lavitz was a real kick in the balls. As a kid playing through the first time it was legitimately upsetting
>>981447This may just be me but I thought Milly's delivery really sold this scene: https://youtu.be/M_HSZXXmLqM?t=398The english VAs for the main cast really killed it, especially after the travesty that was the first game's dub.
I know it is cliche by now but at the time, it was Aeris's death in FF7
>>972787Easily this.Unless my brain locked a memory of something that hitted harder.
>>981461It blindsided me hardcore
>>980775The way he just smirks at her when they finally embrace was what broke me. God damn but we lost the amazing pantomime and the ability to convey what they characters felt when the series switched over to voice acting from previous games...
>>982899people just don't embrace "less is more" anymore
>>983000The last time I felt like I saw this shit was in Advent Children of all places.Cloud's silent reaction to seeing Sephiroth reappear was *amazing* if you pay attention. Say what you will about its bonkers-dumbass-plot, it had its moments.
>>974706>Arvis you bastard>End of Dispair Starts playing>That sorrowful pipe organ>All magic cast meteor>Gen 1 Medley Starts>"And what of the light...?"Jesus Fucking Christ Kaga
>>971490This one in particular got me.I was watching Naka's playthrough in like 2009, this was before I played anything with a real plot to it. That was probably the only real reason it got me, I watch it now and I don't really feel the same way anymore, but I do still get a little tinge after the fight. This game was pretty cool for a 11 year old.
>>984987Gremio was such a good guy.
>>971582>he doesn't know shadow can be saved later in the cave.Anon.. I ...
