Unrelated
I started a playthrough recently (about 4-5hours in now) and some of the generic raider enemies or whatever take literally like 20 shots to the head with my best weapon and it's not like I'm missing
Is my difficulty just fucked because of the mods I use? Or is this normal?

It's weak in terms of sightseeing. Even though the Strip is ultimately underwhelming I was taken aback when I first saw it because it's the first instance of lights and color. >>

So do I. But upon replaying the game this year with almost all of the gameplay stuff recommended by VNV (plus additional content mods like Mojave Raiders, Wildlife, The Living Desert) I realized how little they changed the experience for me compared to something like JSawyer Ultimate. In the few cases where this wasn't the case, all I could think of was "I don't think this is how the game was expected to be experienced" (which is an honest thought to have about using mods, period, but some are far more invasive than others).

For me it's the stretch of road from Primm to Nipton. You just took care of two towns, you have information about who shot you, your journey is just beginning and there's a huge statue on the horizon just begging for you to explore it. There's two little raider camps that respawn for you to come back and stomp at any time, a trader and several interesting NPCs at the outpost, and with the dry lakes it's one of the few places in the game to feel like the flat expanse of a real desert.
>>
>>960143
i do get that familiar feeling when leaving Primm and encountering the Escaped Convicts outside the police station, that this is the part where the game really begins, no more training wheels.

Seriously go to the NVR3's images page and just look through the changes, its' night and day and makes you forget the characters are made in gamebryo.

You'll need to start a new game for all changes to take effect and uninstalling FCO might fuck something up so i wouldn't recommend it.

NVR does a great job at making everyone look like a real person, but some of the changes just feel totally unnecessary and born out of personal preference more than any desire to improve what already existed. It's the highway 95 border area near the Brooks Tumbleweed Ranch, there's a big crater filled with water surrounded by pile of ruined cars and buses. Overlooking the crater by the highway and pass the blockade, you can see the highway stretch out beyond the border area of the map and it gave me that feeling of wonder where the highway would lead me if its opened. It reminded me of old games' skybox and unreached areas where the childhood me often wonders what lies beyond.

You can make it yourself if you install the right sex and nudity mods. The ones I got are all on nexus. Sexual Innuendo is the main one I think.
>install relevant mods
>find two characters you want to see having sex (e.g. your courier and moore)
>make sure the settings are set to 3rd person floating camera
>activate console
>select the "fucker" (ie. the male) and type "additem xx001554 1" where xx is the load order of sex.esm in your mod organiser
>select the "fuckee" ( ie. the female) and type "additem xx001555 1"
>close console and watch the sex
Get the console commands confused and you'll see the woman fist the guy up the ass btw

I prefer the villa just after you start the gala opening, but I get you.
>>
>>959337

>>
>>964571
I should add that you need to add both sex tokens to their respective characters before closing the console for it to work. So before you open the console make sure you have both characters in screen. "player.additem" works instead of selecting the player if necessary.
Also the settings are found in the apparel or aid section of your inventory. And yeah it works for gay sex too.

My favourite location in New Vegas is the Lucky 38 casino. The atmosphere is really spooky. I sometimes use the Run the Lucky 38 mod and have it cleaned up and full of people and making me thousands of caps, but I prefer it silent.

I think that era of 3D is the minimum tolerable for charming replayability. It's obviously "retro" by today's standards but not so intolerably bad that you can't still play it and have fun with it, e.g. early PS1 superdeformed blockpoly garbage like FF7 character models.

I don't like how many quests in this game can be solved just by selecting the top speech option. It discourages roleplaying and encourages autistic minmaxing especially because the game straight up tells you the exact amount of speech points you need to instant win a situation. They don't even bother putting speech option that can backfire and the best option is always in the top of the dialog box without fail.
>>

I don’t particularly enjoy the fact that they decided to give the Courier an actual established backstory that is not only fucking depressing as all hell but is placed squarely on the Courier’s shoulders when they didn’t mean it at all.

It’s also really boring to play, it’s just a straight line from beginning to end with Ulysses taunting you all the way while having to deal with bullet sponges/the stupidest OC donut steal creature that can apparently teleport behind the Mojave and destroy it.
>>
>>967212
im more upset about how bad the Red Glare was lamo
>>
>>967212
I kept hoping it would subvert expectations at the last second and when you launch the nukes, the game tells you that nuclear weapons have a shelf life of about 75 years and they've long been inert, so you did a dick move for nothing.
>>
>>967333
And then Ulysses lectures you about making actions without thinking of the consequences.
>>
>>961409
Shit up!
>>
>>966919
They try to at least subvert that expectations in Dead Money. But you're right it is probably the most flawed aspect of the game's roleplay for me. You can always ignore it but with the skill checks put on top of the options and the number of points seen in the skill checks, it really encourage you to use that shortcut instead of actively trying to navigate the dialogue options as a whole.

I agree. Mojave Outpost is genius level design, from the way its silhouette slowly shows up on the horizon to the long march uphill past cars and caravan traders, and then you enter the barracks and it's the comfiest and most relaxed you've felt since you left Goodsprings and a much needed chance to rest and stock up on supplies after the raiders, ghouls and scorpions you've met on the highway. Great stuff.

If people see the Ranger gear they immediately think of New Vegas, as it is its iconic armor. It also completely covers the face so you don't have to try and imagine what the courier canonically looks like.

I'm still confused as to what happened there. Did the owner just left?

As for the "environmental storytelling" piece i have to say, there's a caravan in powder ganger's territory with a lone, dead woman wearing nothing but underwear with no loot in nearby road. It was pretty obvious what exactly happened, but i suppose the realization is sad in itself.

Speaking of rape, there's another obscure area in the game people tend to miss. In the Nighstalker cave just outside of Jacobstown, there's a makeshift bunker with lots of unused supplies in it. Other than the usual ammos and food cans inside, there's a text log detailing about the owner of the bunker plans to rape a mother and her child in the Jacobstown hotel just for fun after he took shelter in the great war.

Around there. Most, if not all of the characters, their motivations or factions, groups, so on are either from or inspired by Van Buren.

That's his point. You'd have two Caesar's and a Legion that's a bit different, as in they ride around on "chariots," made out of vehicles, in the same universe as our current Legion. So, they'd have to make it non-canon or retcon NV or something.

I'm probably in minority but I wish there were more empty space, everything felt way too close by. NCR correctional facility is just 5 minutes away from Goodsprings, just felt odd and wrong.
Ideally they would do traveling between locations like in FO1 or maybe how it is in Mount & Blade games even. I think it would make the world seem more believable

>>
>>992078
>lets just nuke all of the progress again and start over at FO1 tier levels
literally a road or a settlement
>>
>>996866
I agree and it’s probably my main problem with open world games in general. On one hand nobody wants to walk across a big empty space, but on the other hand it kinda takes me out of the world when I think a little bit about how close things are. This is why I think it would be cool if fallout had vehicles or something. That way it can be possible to be stranded out in the middle of nowhere or something and get the big scale while also not being a slog to traverse.
>>
>>997186
>No-one likes hauling ass for no reason
That's why I suggested traveling to work like it does in FO1 or M&B. It would take less time than it does now, but since you would see yourself from the top with the map zoomed out it would feel like you walked a long distance. Plus there could be random events that happen while traveling to make it more interesting, maybe you get attacked by raiders or stop by Legion patrol or just meet some traders asking for water
>>997294
Oh yes vehicles would be great, or even just horses. I'm not sure what the lore is on them, are they extinct?
