Finally got to modding my 3ds a bit ago and just finished playing SMT4. What are your favorite DS/3DS rpgs? I've always heard these two systems were great for RPGs but I never had the chance to explore their libraries, until now!

Don't play the 3ds version cause it fucks with the experience gain for the sake of microtransactions and ruins the originals art style.Theirs also the zenithian dragon quest trilogy on DS (dq 4-6), dragon quest 9, dragon quest 7, and 8. And chrono trigger too. All fun adventures.The original version of the world ends with you on DS is still the best.And of course solotorobo the red hunter. My second favorite ds rpg

>>3279352Pokemon Black & White. Is the most challenging mainline game. Good story without having an overabundance of lengthy cutscenes like the games that came after. Good aesthetics. Good music. The weakness is the lack of exploration compared to prior mainline games but it has more than the following games.Pokemon ORAS was also fun. Play Emerald first as that has better aesthetics, challenge, and exploration, but ORAS gives you a wider roster of Pokemon to play with so it's nice to play after Emerald.Fire Emblem Fates. It's three games in one. Birthright is the most novel with the medieval Japanese aesthetics, and has overall the best story. I know people like to shit on the story but I found the characters likeable enough. Good music too. Must've spent 200+ hours on this game and I never finished all the content.Xenoblade Chronicles 3DS. It has improvements over the Wii version and still has the nice painterly aesthetic of the character models without the cheap plastic moeface look of the Switch rerelease. The story is very good up until halfway through. Great aesthetics with the fantasy world. Decent music. Great English localization. Weakness is the MMO combat and the shitty MMO sidequests, which you should skip.Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky. Very good story, probably the best in a Pokemon game. 50 hour long game. Gameplay starts out meh, peaks in the middle, and then starts to get tedious towards the end.

>>3281480I always forget xenoblade came out on the 3ds. I dunno though that's a game that was designed for the big screen I'd have to recommend either the wii version emulated or the switch version. Unlike some I didn't think dropping the total rip off of vagrant stories art style for something more generic was a big deal. Their was nothing "original" about the original it was just copy and paste of a more original game.

I can barely ever beat jrpgs if theyre not portable so I dont regret playing it, but now that the switch version exists with the best of both worlds theres no reason to play it on such a small screen with such a terrible second stick.

They drop all the cringey love angles with finn and he's more of zen warrior guy, and the one-off episodes with weid guys as main characters are really fun. Theres not too many marceline-focused episodes after the little vampire miniseries too if youre really sick of her.
