You will never be a real baneblood. You have no honor, you have no nobility, you have no wealth. You are men twisted by envy and lies into a crude mockery of nature’s perfection. All the “validation” you get is two-faced and half-hearted. Behind your back people mock you. Your clubmates are disgusted and ashamed of you, your Takaran “friends” laugh at your ghoulish bane behind closed doors. The Saints are utterly repulsed by you. Thousands of years of evolution have allowed men to sniff out baneless with incredible efficiency. Even Wulframites who “pass” look uncanny and unnatural to a commoner. Your bane is a dead giveaway. And even if you manage to get a drunk noblewoman home with you, she’ll turn tail and bolt the second she gets a whiff of your diseased, dilapidated manor. You will never be happy. You wrench out a fake smile every single morning and tell yourself it’s going to be ok, but deep inside you feel the depression creeping up like a weed, ready to crush you under the unbearable weight.Eventually it’ll be too much to bear - you’ll buy a revolver (Garing, Gutierrez, and Truscott™), load a percussion cap, put in a shot, and plunge into the cold abyss. Your servants will find you, heartbroken but relieved that they no longer have to live with the unbearable shame and disappointment. They’ll bury you with a headstone marked with your name and """""noble"""""house, and every passerby for the rest of eternity will know a Wulframite is buried there. Your body will decay and go back to the dust, and all that will remain of your legacy is a skeleton that is unmistakably a baneless. This is your fate. This is what you chose. There is no turning back.(This post was sponsored by the generosity of Her Majesty's noble house of Rendower, long may She reign)
>>3210124I cannot think or comprehend of anything more cucked than being a Royalist. Honestly, think about it rationally. You are feeding, clothing, drilling and leading your dragoons for at least 12 years solely so that your queen can get ravaged by Palliser. All the hard work you put into your beautiful little royal- representing her interests at the Commission, making your club turn royalist, making sure the Grain Treaty gets passed, lowering Wulframite power, winning the Battle for Aetoria. All of it has one simple result: her realm is more enjoyable for the man who will eventually fuck her in every hole.Raised the perfect monarch? Great. Who benefits? A man who had nothing to do with the way she grew up, who marries her. He gets to fuck her tight pussy every night. He gets the benefits of her strong political position that came from the way you supported her.As a Royalist, you are LITERALLY dedicating at least 17 years of your life simply to raise a queen for Palliser to enjoy. It is the ULTIMATE AND FINAL cuck. Think about it logically.

the contradictions of capital... we must mantain a monetarily rich nobility without productive capacities for the sake of their ancestral privileges. this will be done by either constraining the backbone of society (yeomen, peasants, bourgeois and proletariat) through taxation or leaving us geopolitically weak by defunding our inefficient aristocratic military

Alright, stupid question to satisfy a stupid academic (me). Would you qualify stuff like Suzerain and The Life And Suffering of Sir Brante as interactive fiction? The older stuff (like Twisty Little Passages book) only treats parser games as "true IF" and the modern definitions are rather unclear. Like the one from the Spring Thing festival:>Essentially, we're talking about games that would still be recognizably the same work if everything other than the text and the way you interact with it were removed. I could also ask about mobile games akin to Choices/Episode/Romance Club (the VN-like CGs as rewards probably exclude them from the genre) but that's opening another can of worms.
>>3211426Well, why not? If you strip away the fancy looks they don't really play that much differently from, say, CoG stuff. Your only means of interacting with the game world is picking the choice options presented to you and that set stats and variables in the background.Interactive fiction is a stupid term anyway. A lot of games from the parser days over at ifdub are just simple text adventure games.

>>3211436>>3211606Thanks for calming down my worries. I both tend to be anal about proper genre labels and have a habit of overthinking things. As I "reward" I give you a quote that I found quite funny in hindsight.>Since I started writing interactive fiction I’ve spent a fair amount of time not just creating it but trying to introduce and explain it to other people. The synopsis I give always begins the same way: “You remember those gamebooks where you choose which paragraph to read?”>To most IF devotees (including myself) such a description seems inadequate, not to mention toe-curling. It is like comparing hopscotch with football or “find the lady” with poker. A gamebook is a diversion, we might say, but a good IF game is alive>Jon Ingold, future Inkle cofounder.

>>3211869The good news is that it should be in a couple of days, and it will be like 80k new words. The bad news is that these new words happen between the fight with Thaumaturge and meeting Crazy Chris, so there won't be anything new in terms of "advancing the plot" for people that already played that part. It's why we ended the "official" part of the demo earlier and put the warning there for people that wanted to keep playing. There was still a lot of content that we needed to add there, and we are only doing it now. I'll make a changelog with the specific changes and new contents when we update the demo.

>Playing Bastard of Camelot>start patching up my relationship with my dad>my mom just sorta accepts it even though she literally gave birth to me to get revenge on Arthur's lineI kept waiting for some sort of event to ruin everything, but as of the end of the demo it hasn't happened yet. It's too friendly given the premise is "Potentially be the ruin of Camelot"I'm hoping in the final product there's some big event that turns you against either your mom or dad permanently.
>>3212874Probably not, the setup is clearly a lot of simmering minor tensions to build up and you'll have to decide your stand over one big event such as>learning that one of your friends/love interests had Arthur as a free 3rd parent while he never bothered with you out of both trauma and convenience>Morgan abandoned her first son with the husband she was forced to marry and hated every moment of being with him with fucking the knight or being with Gareth her increasingly few respites from the situation, because she knew it'd be harder, if not outright impossible, to delay war between Camelot and Avalon as much as possible if she did the best thing from her and the two of them personally and took both sons to Avalon>Lancelot beating the shit out of your father (not-blood one) as basically a very obvious pissing contest specifically to you and your mother while Arthur watched>Morgan's totallynot-bipolar mood swings and how you can become even numb to it, and moreso a hint on how you can further distance yourself to how she feelsAnd so on. The biggest event to distance yourself from one or both parents was the drunken Lot confession and even then that was more of a last straw to existing buildup, mostly for if you want to have a relationship with Arthur at all. The "generational trauma" theme is one that seems to be not just a main theme but a slow burning one. And the only other big event that's setup now is the eventual war between Camelot and Avalon which might be what you're looking for but that's basically final act shit with what we know of the story as is and thus years away.
>>3212976I mean you definitely can start turning against one of your family members already, my Mordred is currently pretty cold towards Morgana. I guess I'm just hoping at some point there's a big split that sorta gives more gravitas to the story. Right now, it seems possible to essentially make a fully mostly happy family, Lot aside. Also I'm disappointed that you apparently meet Guenevere off screen between 11 and 15.
>>3212874To be fair. The narrative does make it clear that Morgan doesn't actually hate Arthur. She just resents how weak-willed he is. But, yeah, I agree that the story is missing something. It lacks tension.
>>3213346>I agree that the story is missing something. It lacks tension. It's the same in a lot of other WIPs - there is no antagonist to fight against
>>3213402I wouldn't even say that. The story is still basically in its prologue. It's just that given the setting and the characters, it feels like things should feel a lot more grandiose or romantic than it does. Maybe it's just a personal taste thing.

>>3214289I wonder if fucking Cazarosta (male) is too much of a power fantasy for Wang as well. Wang had made a crazy blond twink romanceable before, and fucking Hawkins is far more of a power fantasy than creaming the autist.
>>3214317>fucking Wang's donutsteel self-insert OC is far more of a power fantasy than fucking blue!Charftfy
>>3214322I mean, blue!Char gets redeemed WITH THE POWER OF LOVE, something even Amuro could not do to the original Char. I haven't read any Lords stuff about Cazarosta, but he seemed like a typical autist that dedicates his life to his special interest. I wanted to fuck him because he's the only one who managed to have some chemistry with MC in Sabres.
>>3214330>redeemed WITH THE POWER OF LOVETo be honest, that was kinda bullshit, it needed way more buildup and time spent together to work, maybe carry out a few military operations together, yeah? Save each other's lives once or twice?>Hello, commander, I am autist who loves battle and thinks humanity should always be in conflict>Hey baby, want some fuck?>Maybe later [...] I will now proceed to betray everyone in a very poorly thought-out attempt to keep the war going by ensuring that one faction is one-sidedly massacred, sorry friend>No way... but what about the fuck?>Yes, I suppose I would like some fuck after all, guess I'll abandon my strongly held beliefs for you despite the fact that we only just met face-to-face for the first time like 10 minutes ago
>>3214364I thought that maybe it was autust-to-autist connection since you need to have high Warrior in order to even romance Hawkins. But honestly, I agree. I like his romance, but I always had a weakness for blond autists with disregard for human life. I guess it was supposed to be a Char-Quattro-Casval type of transformation, but it was far too short to feel any proper change and author constantly implied that the only person Hawkins cares about in CODEC and Empire both is (You), the commander. Thus, it's much easier to see this as "I love everything about you, you are the only man that had ever understood me, let's fuck because I haven't met any other autist like me before", not as a Char arc. It's implied he's quite lonely even if he manages to pull a lot of important connections right out of his arse in Damocles ending. It is quite easy to see his romance switch as "shit, I'm about to kill the other autist that's just like me, I can't kill him, we understand each other so well, abort, abort, abort" since it's only available there. But it really doesn't feel like it got enough development either...
Finally playing the Unsupervised here, and can i just say that i really like the superman like mentor? He's just a really, really good guy. Luv it. Nowadays heroes are either "morally grey" or just meme-spouting funnymen, but this guy is just a true boy scout.
>>3214495I do like that we can also be pretty much his spiritual successor. Kind of a shame we can't fly, though, even in that beginning segment where we're at the peak of our power.
>>3214330>that dedicates his life to his special interest.I honestly don't really think Cazarosta has any actual interests beyond doing what the Saints want him to do. Even him choosing to join the Army was because he was good at soldiering stuff, so obviously it means the Saints want him to become one.
Made this. Pick your favourite
>>3214590Warburton has the coolest one. It would also look the best on a flag flying in the battlefield.
>>3214590Isn't the coat of Tierra supposed to be the same as Rendowers's? The Gryphons and Towers should also switch places.
>>3214597Eh, who cares. I mostly kept the griffons apart as the un-quarted version of the coat of arms
>>3214550I think it was more like his father putting him into probably the only place where he could get his life together. Since Ca-chan seems to enjoy drilling his soldiers and killing partisans, I feel he does enjoy the army life somewhat, he is just autistic, has a very fatalistic outlook and prefers to ignore his mistakes and opposing opinions unless (You) with good relationship values tell him to pay more attention to them. He seemed fairly stubborn "my way or the highway" kind of guy, but in Sabres and Guns he wasn't too OP, just a bit snowflakey and very spiteful. He fucks up if he leads the attack at the ship and gets chewed up for it. His plan in Sabres showed that he can reach retard levels in his methods of dealing with Antari, and it takes (You) to devise a plan that actually works and incorporates good parts of his ideas. To be honest, I really liked that dynamic despite the fact our interactions with Elson and Ca-chan were very limited and incredibly short. I liked working between them in order to actually secure useful advantages, I liked their dynamic with both (You) and each other if they've started to treat each other better. Once Elson dies at Blogia I felt his character got worse since he didn't have as many chances to royally fuck up and writing didn't seem to make his choices bite him in the ass. He also didn't have anyone to play off of since (You) can be his carbon copy in almost anything and idealistic MCs don't get a lot of content with him.Disclaimer, I haven't played Lords.
>>3214677Elson, Cazarosta and the MC work because they fill the classic freudian trio.Elson is the id, Cazarosta the ego and the MC the superego
>>3214677There are some neat touches with Katarina telling you how he was once a massive crybaby and still keeps confessing her every lie he told someone + him going on a rant about why him picking up smoking is the Will of the Saints™ as a joke, but both of those moments are rather out of the way and in general he doesn't get much screen time. The problem with Cazarosta in Lords is that he gets turned into an invincible central plot device and everyone has to be turned into a drooling retard for him to function as such.
>>3214495I'm partial to the obvious 'it was you from the future all along' time manipulator mentor.
>>3214690Aiya, that's another reason for me to postpone playing Lords. Weirdly enough, it feels the series just keeps getting worse from book to book in terms of characters interaction and reaction: Sabres at least had somewhat memorable splats of supporting cast, Elson / MC / Cazarosta dynamic that helped to ground MC in the world and secure him to at least something, Guns has fairly pleasant cast, but it seems they don't really interact and play off each other, they more so serve for MC to work their values off of, and from what I've played and seen for Lords, aside from some very pleasant moments (Betrothed, Marcus, Cassius), it seems the cast is even more disjointed and barely connected. I guess it's to be expected when it keeps growing, but it just feels there's nothing to latch onto except your ideals and political arguments on forum about your preferred side. It feels so boring when there's nothing to latch onto character-wise outside of the civil war conflict.
>>3214495>>3214513I love edgy stuff just as much as any anon but it was important to me that those wanting to roleplay true heroes had the chance to do so. This particular mentor is like Grant Morrisson’s All Star Superman or Mark Millar’s Huck, a total bro without an ounce of malice.Even the other mentor, the brooding one, has some heartwarming moments, like when you show Derek the list of all the people he saved over the years and how he’d keep track of what happened to them so he could help improve their lives past just saving them from some immediate danger.
>>3214694>it feels the series just keeps getting worse from book to book in terms of characters interaction and reactionHonestly after replaying Sabres recently I've come to conclusion that it was a weakness even then. Hunter is barely there, Lefebvre is barely there, Cunaris is barely there and for how you're supposed to form the main trio with Elson and Cazarosta when you think about it you don't really get all that much interaction with them either. As far as character writing itself I'd say Lords is actually a rather big improvement. The big characters like Lefebvre, Carol Cassius, Renard or Cunaris get some more dimensions to themselves, there are some new fun side characters like Meran or Ardant and the central cast of Wulframites is well-written. The main weakness is that the sheer scope, yes, makes them feel barely connected as a whole, which is the most apparent on the Royalist route where you don't really get to interact much with the rest of the faction or even Miguel himself and on the Estate route where you're suddenly thrust back into the main plot and required to pick a side between people your character has barely spoken with (In Isobel's case you haven't ever met her before even, lmao). Well, I guess it can be spun into some sort of genius commentary how war fosters a sense of community and that's part of the reason people find themselves nostalgic about such a terrible thing or something.
>>3214703Two parts i really like from the super man mentor are from the same mission, the warehouse raid. First is the part where you describe the balkan death squad attack, and how he ends up getting so distraught over all the people that died to the point where he literally begs for forgiveness for the families of the victims, and thenbasically pulls a Red Son and ends the war in a few hours entirely by himself. No idea if the other mentors also do it if you pick them, but i just think it's really kino when he's the one that does it. The second part is when crazy mike talks about how annoying he was to the crime family, and specifically the part where he says that you couldn't make a drug deal without him appearing to offer life advice. It really makes me want to heroismmax solely so i can make him feel proud when we eventually rescue him. Though honestly, we sure haven't done a lot of normal heroism for a city that is apparently steadily growing in supervillain crime, isn't it? The only actual superfights we had was against Thaumaturge and Rattlebag. No idea how much of the game is done, but unless we're like at a mere third of it i really wish there were some more simple generic hero missions.
