Can anyone give me tips and hints? The first couple hours of this game were a struggle. I just got the waterchip back to the vault, seems like I am freed up to do sidequesting now. (Patch version 1.1 so no gameover from supermutants)

Where should I go? how do I get armor? is the only places to get rope the Hub or stealing it from Seth of Shady Sands?
>>
>>3207541
So what have you done so far, shady sands, vault 15, raiders, Junktown, hub, necropolis?

Have you gone to the brotherhood of steel and the glow? I think you have those left, and the LA boneyard, and the military base.

You can buy very good gear (like combat armor) in the hub. You can also get very good gear in the glow. After those places the only upgrades will be found in the brotherhood of steel. There’s also some very good merchants in the LA boneyard.

I feel like there was rope for sale in Junktown too but it’s been a very long time. Before you go to the glow, you’ll want rope and plenty of radx and radaway. It may behoove you to stop one grid square away from the glow and pop radx.
>>
>>3207550
Military base and the LA cathedral are the two endgame areas. I’d probably do the base and save cathedral for last.
>>
>>3207541
the only tip i have for you is to uninstall this garbage and play Fallout 3 or NV
>>
>>3207550
was this a scripted event or a bug; when I first walked through junktown I heard gunshots, and when I investigated them I found the voice acted trader of the store dead, and the guards standing around. why did they kill him, is he the only merchant there?
>>
>>3207550
I did the rad scorpion cave and the waterchip retrieval
>>
>>3207564
That happens after you talk to Killian Darkwater (the dead merchant), so the script firing early seems like a bug. Unless you talked to him and then immediately ran out of the store, but the assassin is walking thru the only exit.
>>
>>3207574
yeah I talked to him and went about the rest of the town, I thought the guards had killed him I was confused. I guess he was the only person to buy from? I did manage to pick a hunting rifle off his body which was nice.
>>
>>3207575
Yeah he’s the main vendor in Junktown and also the mayor. When you talk to him for the first time, an assassin walks in the doors while you’re still in there and it’s expected that you’ll participate in the battle and kill the assassin.
>>
>>3207567
>didn't kill one scorpion for the tail and then close the cave on the rest of them with dynamite
you didn't beat the game
>>
>>3207567
Did you also do all the areas I listed above? Rough progression I'd recommend off the top of my head (many years) is shady sands, vault 15, radscorpion cave, raiders (maybe, or maybe after junktown), junktown, the hub, necropolis (maybe, or maybe after brotherhood of steel and the glow), brotherhood of steel, the glow, LA boneyard (there's a lot here and several maps, I'm lumping it all together), military base, LA cathedral.

Anyone else want to chime in? Haven't played in years
>>
>>3207606
>didn't kill all-but-one scorpion and then dynamite the cave to maximize the XP
Looks like you're the one who didn't beat the game
>>
>>3207596
lol well that didn't happen, I must have messed it up, I was on the other end of town coming back when the firefight was happening, I thought to myself "damn this is pretty immersive, a bar fight is happening?" then I found the crime scene and the guards were pretty suspicious, and I was like "I didn't see nothing, just let me take this here hunting rifle off the body and I will be going.."
>>
>>3207607
I skipped a lot of that I guess, the time limit had me kinda worried, I had just over half the time left when I was doing necropolis. I ran out of stimpacks and had to do a little cheesing, walking the overworld to regain health. I supposed since the raiders kidnapped Seth's daughter that's what I should do next? I don't have rope to go inside vault 15 yet.
>>
>>3207624
You're supposed to get the rope for vault 15 from Shady Sands. I think you can barter for it with the guards at the main gate, as well as probably a couple other places in Shady Sands. Yeah, I'd go do Vault 15 and then do the Raiders for Seth's daughter. The order I listed above is a rough progress guide if you're unsure what to do next.

Fun fact, in the old versions of the game, if you were stressed about the waterchip timer, you could pay the (((Water Merchants))) in the Hub to send water to your vault, extending the timer. But, as a fuck you, this would also make the vault more visible, and so would decrease the second super mutant timelimit, possibly getting you an unexpected game over.
>>
>>3207629
Try not to imagine what Tandis been going through if you left her in captivity for a few months. I don’t think there’s a time limit attached to that quest but I could be wrong
>>
>>3207635
they probably fucked her in the vagina
>>3207629
I found those water merchants but they wanted 2000 caps up front even after I said the vault would cover the rest, they are greedy.
Seth wont barter now that I activated his quest, there's a dialogue option for "I need to get some supplies first" and for some reason it ends the conversation even though I suspect he has stuff for trade. I wonder if I can stealth boy sneak the rope off his person.
>>
>>3207637
Talk to the man and the woman guarding the entrance to shady sands. I think at least one of them has a rope for trade. I’m pretty sure there’s also a rope laying around shady sands in a bookshelf or something
>>
>>3207642
I found a book worth 225 caps in a bookshelf, I have a higher luck stat than average
>>
>>3207650
I'm pretty sure the loot in containers is fixed and pre-determined, not random. Luck will affect your critical chance and I think maybe the types of random encounters you get on the overworld.

Iirc that was a first-aid skill book that you can read to increase your first-aid skill. There's books like that for several skills. There's a library in the Hub you can buy them from
>>
>>3207541
Pickpocket early. You can stop halfway through but pickpocketing will help so much with Ammo and stims. Soon you'll be flush with items
>>
>>3207683
I thought it was a scout book, I will have to double check
>>
>>3207706
Sure, you could be right. It's been many years since I played it. I want to say theres a scout book in the northeast building of the first map and theres a first aid book in the doctor's house
>>
>>3207716
the doctor stopped me from rifling through his shit, lol
>>
>>3207561
This. First playthrough of FO1 was great, but once the novelty wore off it became apparent how poor it is as a video game. Especially 2, because even the writing sucks in that one. I'll have more fun in half an hour playing FO3 than playing FO2 for five hours. It's an inefficient game.

Also wtf is it with the random encounters designed to be just escaped from. 10 giant radscorpions! Teehee, whatever shall the player do?
>>
>>3207732
>10 giant radscorpions! Teehee, whatever shall the player do?
I'm Johnny from Buenos Aires and I say kill 'em all

Also, two games I will never understand the nostalgia for on this board are Fallout 3 and Oblivion
>>
>>3207732
I got an encounter with three and kited them and picked them off one at a time, then I got another encounter of three and they all chased me out of the encounter.
>>
>>3207743
Fallout 3 was Oblivion but fixed up and interesting, I don't understand your sentiment unless you're inferring New Vegas is the one stop shop for that experience. At that point, why not both, 3 was the groundwork and it's a fun little game.
>>
>>3207767
What do you get when you spend time and resources to deal with them?
>>3207743
Man, I love them simply for letting me roleplay and explore in gorgeous virtual worlds, everything else is a bonus. It was extremely fascinating to me as a kid, and those games are still impressive to me today. I grew up with pokemon on gameboy color, and stepping out into one of Bethesda's worlds is a huge fucking leap.
I don't see why getting really into Fallout 1 or 2's world is any different.
>>
>>3207779
110 EXP per scorpion
right now I need 3000 to level up, I figure it's about 30 scorpions
(not that I will do 30 but I would likely pick off ones I encounter why not)
>>
>>3207769
Meh, NV was a bit better than 3 but I never finished oblivion, fallout 3, new vegas, or Skyrim. Always got bored and gave up. Guess I outgrew Bethesda games.

Shit, I finished bg3 last night and it was so bad it honestly made me wonder if I’ve outgrown games in general
>>
>>3207783
For clarity, I played the shit out of Morrowind as a teenager and finished it multiple times
>>
>>3207783
why would you finish a bad game, wtf
>>
>>3207786
There ain't no gettin' offa this train we on. Buy the ticket, take the ride.
>>
>>3207797
I can count the games I've finished on five hands

Based Castle of Dr. Brain enjoyer
>>
Is the first Fallout worth going for it? I love F2 and played it multiple times and always thought that F1 is lesser version of F2.
>>
>>3207853
Yes, if you liked F2 you'll probably like F1. It has a more serious story and less goofy pop culture references, though there's still some.

Biggest advantage of F2 is that A. the interface is a little bit better and less clunky, and B. the level cap is higher and you can get more perks. It has a higher power level than F1, if you think that's a good thing (subjective)

It's kinda like comparing BG1 and BG2.
>>
>>3207853
>>3207863
>It's kinda like comparing BG1 and BG2.
Even more funny is that there's also a mod to put Fallout 1 in the Fallout 2 engine, just like BG1 & BG2. Even shares almost the same name. Being able to tell NPCs to MOVE THE FUCK OUT OF THE DOORWAY is alone worth installing the mod.
For a first playthrough, I'd toggle off the Fallout 2 exclusive stuff, just for authenticity's sake.
https://github.com/rotators/Fo1in2

Checking the issues section, this one seems quite important...scroll down.
https://github.com/rotators/Fo1in2/issues/185
>>
OP here, whenever I try to enter vault 15 now the game crashes. I googled it and it's a known issue but there's no fixes I can find. I suppose the worst case scenario is I steer clear of the place during this playthrough or I will have to load a prior save and repeat a bunch of stuff which I am very opposed to doing.
>>
>>3207931
There's nothing critical in there aside from some xp and some loot. It's intended to be your first lead on a possible location for a water chip, but it's ruined and full of rats. It wouldn't really make sense for your character to go there now that you found a real water chip, if that helps lessen the blow.
>>
>>3207931
I never knew that was an issue. Huh.
Then again, I amost never go to Vault 15. I looked up the map on a wiki to check the loot, and I actually didn't recognize the entrance. That's how few times I've gone there.

Don't worry about it.
>>
>>3207743
Nostalgia is not reasonable, anon, it is a "you had to be there" thing. Shitload of people now are nostalgic for Mafia II, while upon release it was compared to the original mostly unfavorably. Also, don't know about Oblivion but F3 is a great game. Its only real problems, technicalities aside, are dialogue writing and some minor lore inconsistensies.
>>3207769
>At that point, why not both, 3 was the groundwork and it's a fun little game.
Tale of two wastelands is the best way to replay F3 nowadays imo. More friendly to the modern system, all of NV's QoL improvements are present, and a journey from the birth through rebuilding the west coast to shaping the civilization on the east coast feels like a proper epic.
>>
>>3207942
I suppose you're right. Morrowind was my first TES and is still my favorite, Oblivion and onwards seemed meh to me (though in 2005, Oblivion looked really great, and the physics were fun to play with). I guess I meant that I can see why people like Morrowind, and I can see why people like Skyrim (even if I disagree), I just don't see what people like about Oblivion aside from fondness because they were young and it was new at the time.

Same with FO3, I grew up playing 1/2, played 3 when it was new and thought it sucked, played NV and thought it was okay but meh, and by 4 I said hell no I'm done.
>>
>>3207933
>>3207935
I just made a good run of the raider camp, took out like 8 guys, but I missed the last couple shots there and a two guys finished picking me off with a javelin and a desert eagle. Made me feel rather confident, lol.

yeah who needs vault 15 lol. I was really only going there for a rifle and body armor I think. the raider camp has so much armor I dunno if I can haul it all back to a town to sell, lmao
>>
>>3207952
There's a leather jacket in vault 15. There's two places you can trigger something unique if you're dressed in the right combination of armor + weapon (the raider camp to intimidate the leader, and to recruit Dogmeat in Junktown) and both require a leather jacket.

If you have any party members, they have infinite carry weight, and you can steal from them to plant items you want them to carry.
>>
>>3207942
>a journey from the birth through rebuilding the west coast to shaping the civilization on the east coast feels like a proper epic.
when you put it that way maybe I will have to try it like that sometime. I guess I'm a stickler for the original way those games played out though.
>>3207948
>Morrowind was my first TES and is still my favorite
same and same, I tried to get my friends into it but something about swining at a guy and missing put them off of it. I can't stand Oblivion and Skyrim always letting you hit - and offsetting it giving everything a lot of health.

>I just don't see what people like about Oblivion Same with FO3
a friend of mine his favorite was Oblivion and I just didn't take to that game much. but when Fallout 3 came out it was the coolest thing, it was obviously still "Oblivion under the hood/engine" but I appretiate the asethetic and atmosphere way more than, I consider Oblivion to be 'generic fantasy', so I was able to be immersed into the game and actually really enjoy V.A.T.s hot take: vats to me seems like Final Fantasy turn-based but actually really enjoyable

to me New Vegas seemed like Fallout 3 again, and that's why I similarly say to you "okay but meh". I was unexcited for Fallout 4, I guess really improper timing for me personally. it came out in like one year from announcement, at the same time as Call of Duty Black Ops 3 which I was really hyped for and it delivered well over multiple times IMHO and I recently finished Witcher 3 Wildhunt and Twilight Princess so I was just looking for that kind of 'dumb fun' instead regardless. my friends liked FO4 and 76, but I just have that on the backburner. funnily enough I recently got the GOG copy of FO4 and I'm kinda excited for it now, hence playing FO1 right now.
>>
>>3207957
damn I guess no easy way out nor dog friend.
nice to know the weight thing though, maybe I should recruit Ian, 100 caps is cheap, I just have exactly zero right at the moment. should sell some stuff really.
>>
>>3207966
You can recruit Dogmeat by feeding him. I think either beef jerky or "iguana" on a stick.
>>
>>3207978
is there a food vendor?
>>
>>3208006
Even better, the iguana on a stick production factory is in Junktown! The vendor is in the hub.
>>
>>3208018
should I sell my pistol? I'm out of ammo, the raiders are carrying more powerful pistols with less clip capacity
>>
not only did I pawn my pistol, but I found so much loot in the raider camp that I can't possibly carry it all, I think if I could find people with caps to trade for I would be set for the rest of the game lol. I found a replacement pistol that was the exact same as before too.
>>3207957
is stealing with a low skill easy or would it make them hostile?
>>
>>3208122
I think you can freely steal from your party members to take/plant things without upsetting them. It’s been a long time since I played.

The trick with to build wealth is to trade heavy things for light and valuable things. Caps and stimpaks are weightless i believe. Pawn off a little bit of loot to everyone you can trade with.

>>
>>3207935
Vault 15 is almost always worth the run at the start, because you can get the 10mm sub early game. Burst weapons let you cheese the raiders.
>>
>>3208129
I'm pretty sure you can actually trade with them through the text menu. Or maybe that was just F2.
>>
>>3208755
Yeah, that was f2. F2 also tracked companion encumbrance so you couldn’t load them up with 30 suits of leather armor

Since this is *the* designated Fallout thread, been playing through Nevada and almost have the power armor reassembled; but I can't find the hermetically sealed helmet for it. Have everything else (pretty sure), but haven't found it anywhere. Last place I looked was the V9 bunker and WW Vault. Already have both schematics btw.

>>3208757
Makes sense. Ian always got fucking obliterated by some tragic twist of fate early game, so I never tinkered much with the companions.
>>
>>3208760
Funny, normally Ian obliterated you, with a 10mm SMG
>>
>>3208763
I just don't know. Every time we get into combat some fucker with a hunting rifle or 10mm would critically headshot him and splatter his brains across the desert.
>>

F1 NPCs loooved using burst weapons regardless of where you were or weren’t. Ian was infamous for it. I think f2 let you control their combat settings

It is long since my last play but IIRC it is in the Area 51.
>>3208812
It is a TC for Fallout 2. Not to be confused with Project Nevada, an early gameplay overhaul mod for New Vegas.
>>

I played 3 when I was a kid and 1 when I was an adult and I think 1 is better. Nostalgia can't explain that.

I encountered another crash today when hauling stuff back to the hub to sell off repeatedly, the third time I went to leave the area the game crashed. I avoided it by only making one trip and then I sold off the rest at the boneyard. I left behind a stick of dynamite and a leather jacket, are they really good items?
>>
>>3209226
A stick of dynamite can be if you get creative.
I don't know why you're crashing so much.
>>
>>3209226
Depends on what armor you're packing. Leather is the second worst in the game, but needed in order to recruit the dog.

I played Fallout 1 7 years ago (quit at the super mutant factory because I got busy), and I’ve been meaning to play it again. However, I barely remember anything. I know when I first played I used a character creation guide not wanting to get fucked over by some arcane nonsense (which apparently INT is more important than CHA for persuasion builds, so I ended up being right), but should I go in blind again for the rest?
>>
There is nothing hard about fallout 1 and 2
You can always get stronger and come back AND save and reload
Only the start is a bit tricky
>>
>>3210399
it helps if you know a couple of things about the game, there's far too many helpful things in these games, and it's tough to know what where when
>>
>>3210417
I've had several hiccups along the way, and I wish I could just save reload as warranted but I have to worry about the game crashing in specific ways. if you know a lot about the game I would appreciate some hints here and there too.
>>
>>3210399
The skills on the right side of the character creation show the formula for the skill check, so you know which stat affects which skills.
INT, however, dictates how many raw skill points you get per level, which is prefer to have a lot.

I quit when Ian died, he went down in a very undeserved way.

.....that's cool, thank you!
I stumbled into the police guard side of the Hub and an NPC said I wasn't allowed in at night I told him to fuck off and ended up shooting my way through them only for a guy to pull out a weapon I hadn't seen yet, he hit Ian for 40 damage. >>
>>3212799
I gather that, it was just a ridiculously cheap way to lose Ian. I thought deathclaws were bad but this one guy was using a gun I've never heard the sound effect for in the game until now and Ian took so much damage that I couldn't let him go out like that.
>>
>>3212799
>mfw you meticulously escort Dogmeat through the military base unscathed
>>
>>3212835
They all die in the lore, so just chalk it ip as fate.
>>
>>3212835
Probably the 14mm pistol. Very rare, only a couple people in the game have it. Very cool sound effect.

There's a quest in the Hub where a guy wants you to clear out his farm from raiders. He rewards you with a unique and hand-crafted pistol (don't tell the ATF about it) that shares its model and sound effect with the 14mm pistol. If you squint at its icon, it's also a reference to Harrison Ford's pistol in Blade Runner, which itself is an unexplained reference to the main character's pistol in the original book, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep. Everyone had laser guns but the police could remotely disable them, so he had a laser combined with a backup .38.
>>
>>3207561
While I do not agree with the garbage and uninstall parts, Fallout 1 and 2 need some redoing. Maybe Tactics.
>>
>>3212459
What's the issue, skill, I presume?
>>
>>3212909
at first I thought it was a rocket launcher, it had a booming cacophony. maybe it was a super pistol of sorts because I never saw a rocket flying just heard explosions. I will have to find that farmer guy, bandits sound manageable!
>>
>>3213437
The pistol he's talking about has an absurd weapon sound thats significantly louder than everything else. it was changed in fallout 2.
>>
>>3213437
Who exactly were you fighting in the Hub? I had assumed the loan sharks or the police or something. If you were fighting the black market arms dealer, then I think he actually does have a rocket launcher.
>>
>>3213529
When New Vegas had “That Gun” and it didn’t have the original sound effect I immediately gave up on the game.
>>
>>3213548
well I think one map into the hub and then up to the right is the arms dealer, and a warehouse in the back where I guess thugs are beaten up on homeless people. I killed them no problem, I have this really good combat armor the brotherhood of steel gave me so they kept missing their sledgehammer swings on me.

but then I left back to the middle area and continued down to the left and as soon as I loaded into the area I was in a dialogue where they told me no one was allowed in the area at night except the police or guards. I told them off and shot up two of them to death but another guy came up from further in the area and he was shooting what sounded like a rocket launcher but I didn't see any rockets.

but uh that arms dealer is rich and has a lot of cool stuff. I know I couldn't take them down, but in the back there's bullets and one of those 14mm pistols.
>>
>>3213564
Did you go down into the back room/downstairs of the Maltese Falcon (where the local criminal syndicate is headquartered)? Or did you load into a different map? I think you may have wandered into the “mansion district” so to speak and encountered a wealthy man’s personal guards. They’re paranoid because the aforementioned syndicate has tried to assassinate him, and they think you’re another assassin.

I think so anyway like I said it’s been many years for me, going off memory

I think I went this direction. The character said that only police were allowed down there at night and that I had to leave
>>

Yup, see my post above about the “mansion district”. That’s what happened.
>>
>>3213597
I just cleared the farm of raiders, you said this gun is inspired by bladerunner? it's daytime so I can probably check out that rich district looking for the lost brotherhood member now. I managed to keep Ian alive, first attempt on the farm was a shitshow I was getting blown to smithereens but the second time I did more clever positioning and completely decimated them. I love that feeling when an enemy turns tail and runs and you get a gorey finishing blow with a powerful gun. Can I run in combat somehow? I've done it by accident a couple of times but I cannot figure out the method to the madness
>>
>>3213663
Yes, look at the icon. It has two triggers. It’s based on Decker’s prop gun in blade runner but the two triggers is only explained in the book, not the movie.
>>
>>3213529
>it was changed in fallout 2.
For the worse. I love how it's so obnoxiously loud in Fallout 1.
>>
>>3213529
I've used the 14mm pistol, this is definitely the gun I heard. I cannot comprehend how it did 40 points of damage to Ian though, that's still a mystery.
>>
>>3213854
All the ammo has different damage properities. 14mm just happens to destroy unarmored targets, and ian cant wear armor.
>>
>>3213886
I thought he was wearing the leather armor he has in his inventory, wtf Ian
>>
>>3213908
I don’t think party members can wear armor that you give them until fallout 2.
>>
>>3213925
well I sold his armor, I finally started hitting his maximum weight limit from a lot of loot (I thought he was supposed to carry infinite stuff?) I killed everyone in the rich neighborhood because the kingpin had that as a quest, and the thieves in the basement want that neckless from his safe as well. I encountered my first jammed lock, turns out you have to wait 24 hours when a lock jams to try picking it again. I solved the disappearing caravan, the deathclaw in there was really weak or something, kept missing, only hit for 3 damage, and his weakness is between the eyes and I used a plasma pistol and killed it in three shots.

the weapon that guy was using was definitely 14mm pistol I got it off his corpse. for a while I was thinking he was using the 223 pistol that I recently got. I shot someone for 40 damage with it once, so kinda bizarre. I guess 14mm is about as strong as 223 caliber.
>>
>>3215000
.223 pistol is unique, one of a kind. Different ammo types have different modifiers, you can examine them in the inventory to read their stats. Some ammo types do huge damage vs unarmored but have weak armor penetration, and vice versa.

In the original version there was a bug that flip flopped the values for JHP vs AP ammo, or the damage formula was bugged, or something like that. May have been patched at some point

I won't get my hopes up, but a faithful recreation of F1 is still very different from the teenager fanfiction that was Frontier.
>>
>>3207620
is it immersive if you're thinking about how immersive it is? why does everything have to be immersive anyway?
>>
>>3215299
I tend to really enjoy forgetting everything but the game when I am gaming, it's the sign of a well designed game. Zero out the separation between player and gameplay, fully absorbed into the experience.
>>
>tfw played the game for 15+ hours and somehow softlocked myself from getting the brotherhood initiate quest at the beginning of the playthrouh
My build needed the power armor for the extra strength too. It's unfair man.
>>
>>3216783
How did you softlock it? Is he dead?
>>
>>3216783
OP here I've only ended up with Vault 15 being bugged, I can't go there and explore it anymore. What seems to be the problem with your questline bro?
>>
>>3216783
you playing with fallout fixt? there is a bug in the dialogue that causes it to loop and fuck up when trying to join.
>>
is there no way to save my dog?? he wont stay behind.
>>
>>3217079
Not without significant effort. You will have to go well out of your way to keep him from dying.
>>
>>3217115
I'm not sure what I can do, the dog just walks over to enemies and the enemies mow through the dog attacking me. This is a real bummer.
>>
>>3217115
>>3217893

It's quite difficult to keep Dogmeat alive. Especially at the final military base, you'll see why when you get there.

I believe in you though anon, it's your holy quest to protect Dogmeat
>>
>>3217944
the thing is I'm not sure I can and it's really bumming me out. why can't I just leave him with my old cronys at the brotherhood
>>
>>3218006
What combat difficulty are you playing on? What’s your party like? It’s gonna come down to luck and savescumming. I was able to do it as a kid back in the day. It’s difficult but possible
>>
>>3218019
I dropped off Ian and Tycho at the brotherhood, and I assaulted the supermutant entrance with three power armored paladins, but only the dog follows me inside for some dumb reason. I'm on whatever the default difficulty has been.
>>
>>3218034
Yeah the paladins only help you breach the exterior, you’re on your own from there. Maybe bring Ian and Tycho and their firepower will kill enemies faster to help keep Dogmeat alive longer?

I remember the real killer being the forcefields. You can disable them with science or repair skill but your brain dead party members like to walk back and forth into them eating damage, killing themselves. It’s notorious
>>
>>3218006
I seem to recall someone saying they would close dogmeat up in a room on the final level, that way he didn't get to a fight in time to get splattered.
Try that maybe.
>>
>>3218037
>>3218078
well I can keep Ian and Tycho alive by just leaving them at the base, but I think my dog is just going to get killed by chaingunners or the force field. I just feel bad about it, it's like the devs had no foresight or didn't care.
>>
>>3218081
I want to say that in Fallout 2 there was a reference to Dogmeat being canonically killed by the forcefields in the military base.

I'm reading a bit about this now and some people have suggested you can either trap him between two of the yellow forcefields, or if you can lure him into a room with a door, you can shut the door on him. May need to enter combat mode to trap him. You'd have to keep doing that on every new level
>>
>>3218081
The companions were supposedly hacked in from nothing like one weekend before the game went gold, it was that kind of development
>>
>>3218995
>What's your name?
>My name's not important.
>Then neither are you. [ends conversation]
Based
>>
why do some of these super mutants do some much damage with a rocket while others dont, wtf. it's cutting through my power armor like butter
>>
>>3218081
I'm 99% sure there's a mod to make dogmeat not brain-dead and act like your other companions
>>
>>3219214
explosions can do damage even if they don't hit the exact tile you're standing on, also crits.
>>
>>3219214
one hit with 35 - 100 damage range can randomly do scratch damage to power armor or kill you outright with a high roll and a "basic" crit (as in not an eyeshot octuple damage armor bypass fuck me in the ass with a 10mm crit, just a basic torso crit)
>>
>>3219235
it's whatever, dog is dead
>>
>>3215644
that seems bad for your spirit. reality might suck but you should try to live in it.
>>
>>3219373
that is so far beyond not the point. I can only presume you to be an idiot.
>>
>>3219214
If you're using a patch that fixed the ammo, which most do, AP rockets are deadly even to power armor. It has a -50% damage resist modifier.
