Okay fags help me out I started my first run on core AND aimed for sadistic game design achievementt as added challenge. So far I've reached early chapter 2 with around 10 rests or so but the game looks like a fucking zombie survivor with how scarce your spells are and how tired everyone is between travels when you need to limit your rests to account for their overuse on lategame harder chapters.

I just got abundant casting on two of my most spell-consuming characters [Me (Eldrich archer) and Daeran] so I guess it will help a little even though in most fights I must still rely on rng and reload at least five times rather than burn out spells. I've been thinking of getting the Midnight Isles and Last Sarkorian dlcs too, but can I finish those with a minimal toll on rests? Otherwise I will keep playing the base game. Also as an unintended extra layer of challenge, for the sake of rp my chaotic character is going to become a Demon which I heard is a very rest consuming mythic path ability-wise so well I guess I just won't be using its powers a lot lol.
>>
>>3207400
You can probably rest much more than you think. I believe it takes like 4-5 rests to cross into the first level of corruption penalties if you have someone with good Lore (Religion). Almost every dungeon has 2 separate corruption clearing points. You can seriously rest before every single significant fight that isn't just like one wandering loser on patrol. It's stupid and boring to do so but you can. The only consequence of going too slow in terms of day count in the entire game after chapter 1 is Galfrey complaining a little and not giving you a ring of protection you'll probably never equip because your shield of faith is better.
>>
whats /vrpg/ opinion on tabletop tweaks mod?
https://github.com/Vek17/TabletopTweaks-Base
>>
>>3207418
I've never used it, learning all the autistic little rules and exceptions of the game was enough of a burden without adding a layer of modder autism on top
>>
>>3207400
>aimed for some achievement on his first run
Kill yourself but, like, unironically. Holy fuck.
>>
Chapter 1, rely more on scrolls and potions than your casters. As soon as you get your mythic abilities, go for the abundant caster line, and you'll find yourself having more than enough spells.
Use the fish food that makes it take longer to get fatigued and use the paladin grace that lets lay on hands remove fatigue (and exhaustion later).
Demon mythic abilities, unfortunately, are just something you use for boss fights. I think they could have safely doubled the uses. Angel and Lich are just so strong at all times. When you do get to pop your Demon Rage though, it can do some very broken things.
>>
>>3207432
This food tip was really useful anon, I didn't bother checking at first but I guess one can get plenty of good effects cooking pathslop.
>angel and lich
I have been thinking about doing an angel run for a future unfair run since the mythic path seems unbalanced on lower difficulties with some of its powers active 24/7.
>>3207412
Galfrey sounds like an ass, my character is planning to betray her if a choice arises. I've actually been going quite fast the campaign though, managed to clear everything in chapter one before tavern defense.
>>3207423
>t. beat the game at story difficulty
>>
>>3207448
you outrun the difficulty on unfair part way through chapter 3 and it stops being a major undertaking on every single fight. The exception is angel and lich with spellbook merge classes, which both already outrun the difficulty when they get their third mythic level near the end of chapter 2
>>
Higher difficulties will always still have some cases where the enemies just roll high and CC your whole party turn 1 though.
>>
>>3207400
This gets much better later on, IMHO.
But some playstyles and party compositions can fight on longer with less spells used. Like if you have multiple pets with crane style/wing/ripotse feats and fighters ride on those
>>
I think a fair adjustment would be to add "double demon rage per day" to the endless rage mythic. Demon Rage at all times might very well be too powerful. Maybe not, though, it scales so late in the game.
>>
>>3207516
>too powerful
It's not
>>
>>3207418
Based. Fuck owlkek's homebrew
>>
>>3207400
>sake of rp chaotic character will go demon
Why not Trickster at that point?
>>
>>3207704
Maybe maybe not. Compared to core features of other paths? Yes, absolutely. Compared to spellbook merge? No.
>>
>>3207714
Different RP. Demon has multiple paths, too. Demon Lord, minion of Nocticula, etc.
>>
>>3207714
I'm interested to see what twists and plot devices the game has in store for the bizarre scenario of the crusader commander turning into a demon, plus I kinda wanted to do an evil playthrough after being a good guy in a previous game. From what I've read, Demon Path had the most evil content while not needing to murder all your companions so I went with it. Admittedly, Trickster could really boost my Eldrich Archer, but I'm going for more rp this time.
>>
>>3207400
spellcasters are trap choices. just get a kineticist if you want to blast from range all day and night. wrath has some cool endurance sections where the non-magical/limited resource classes shine.
>>
>>3207418
fixes a lot of stuff that hasn't been broken for over a year, it's kind of a mess due to the insane feature bloat and continuing updates to the actual game.
>>
>>3207756
>>3207949
ah, didn't know you were going for specifically an evil character since you only mentioned chaotic. Yeah if your PC is chaotic evil then demon is obv the path to go.
>>
>>3208087
Kineticist is just gay. Why would I bother playing as a not-mage who can only use choice elements when I can play a Wizard or a Sorcerer or a Witch or a Cleric or a Druid or even a Shaman when those full casters have so many fun spells to choose from? If I don't want to rest and just want to do hit shit for big damage I'll play a Fighter at that point.
>>
>>3207400
The pacing in Wrath is so bizarre to me. Act 1 is on a stringent time limit (and Act 2 as well, sort of) and then by Act 3 all of that is dropped and you can meander for a while. The whole thing Kingmaker had of "complete this within x time or it's game over" was retarded but it at least had better pacing than Wrath and you knew that everything was timed. You also weren't being bombarded by council meetings every five seconds and they were spread out more. In Wrath as soon as Act 3 starts the game gives you 18 gorillion quests to do and the moment you try to do any of them it screeches at you to get your ass back to Drezen and address five different meetings, and then when you leave it nags at you again to go back to Drezen and do even more meetings. Somehow they managed to make being Knight Commander a more stressful job than running an entire barony or even a kingdom.
>>
>>3208138
Act is all that keeps this from being possibly my all time favorite. It is too bloated.
>>
>>3208140
*Act 3
>>
Brothers, how do you actually beat hostile on hard+? I've made a Sylvan trickster with slumber but this fucking hex is a joke when everything decides to roll a 16 against my 14 DC. Anyway, hosilla also kills seelah in one hit when she decides to roll 15, or targets another party member and fears everyone when she kills them. How do?
I'm even fighting her with both Wendu and lann

Also I have no idea how to beat the medium earth elementals or the huge water elementàls as those *also* kill me in one or 2 hits.

Seems like this game is exceedingly gay on higher difficulties
>>
>>3208236
I play the first act on core, then I switch to hard in act 2.
>>
>>3208239
Core was pretty doable, yes.But man.. theres achievements for going hard+ the whole game.
I've been reading a bit and it demands all kinds of cheese as well as doing the exp share trick so you reach level 3 beforehand. Why is owlcat such a fucking mess at balancing their game? No testers whatsoever?
>>
>>3208236
On hard you can more or less get away with Turn based if you're very good but if you want to decrease your suffering by any significant amount you literally have to switch between RTWP and TB at will, before fights, in the middle of the fights, and whenever else you need to. e.g. to beat swarms of rats and other things, enemies like the elementals and any other enemy who cannot range attack you or run as fast as you, you take off your armor and kite them with bows in RTWP mode by never letting them reach melee range. You back peddle all the way through the map if you have to and find some sort of dungeon architecture to run circles around.

For Hosilla you just stack debuffs like intimidate, evil eye, ray of sickening, while holding your CC in RTWP mode and as soon as you've landed as many as you can you pop that character's CC action and try to drop her, if it doesn't work you just reload. And reload. And then reload, reload, reload, and reload until it works. Once the start of the fight isn't dogshit that's when you actually play it by switching to turn based to capitalize on your incapacitation. IIRC there is one single scroll of grease available either in the shield maze or before it that you can possibly use if you don't have a CC ability available by some other means. Alternatively you can take Wenduag and give her a Rowdy level so that you can use Vital Strike and simply reload until you get a critical hit that nukes her in the first round of combat.

Hosilla is widely considered to be one of the worst parts of an Ironman run because of how narrow your options actually are for dealing with her. Prebuffing and checking her with a tank just doesn't work on unfair and isn't reliable on hard.
>>
>>3208261
Why would you play this game ironman? You can play Baldur's Gate ironman because you can completely remove RNG from the equation in that game. In addition, 2e doesn't have critical misses for rolls other than to-hit. You can't critically miss a saving throw. You can't do that here. What do you do when the game decides that you rolled a 1 on your stealth check and you start a battle in the middle of level draining demons with no buffs?
>>
>>3207400
im at act1 but what's the most common enemy type (besides demons)?
>>
>>3208310
git gud
>>
>>3208314
Demons are like 60/70% of the enemies, the remaining are mostly undead or cultists I think. It's the reason Demonslayer exist and it's considered a good class too
>>
>>3208236
Have a pet boar or leopard and make it tank (mage armor, shield of faith, barkskin, all that shit on it). Camel uses protective luck hex on it every turn. Hosilla wasn't a big deal even on unfair, you will see a lot of worse shit soon.
>>
I copied some build from neoseeker and I have a dog which seems useless, cant mount it and it does no damage, should i be using it purely as a trip bot or am i missing something?
>>
>>3208426
Cast reduce person yourself or animal growth on it (though it will get bigger later) for mount. Not worth it for a couple minutes, though.
Damage scaling gets good later on when you can cast magic fang, acid maw and shit like Mark of Justice. Plus, equipment you get (amulets, belts etc). Boosting Strength score helps with AB and damage.

Pets tend to have frontloaed ac, so if you cast a few buffs (like mage armor), it's good bait. And tripping is almost good enough reason on it's own, really. Boosting stats and giving it trip related feats will make it very conssitent
>>
>>3208421
no...........
Imma try kiting her and if that fails it's respec time
Stupid sexy demon worshipper needs correction!
>>
>>3208236
Take the elemental to one of the big rooms, position your party on the corner with bows and keep running in circles as it follows you and your companions flank it every turn
>>
>>3208426
Neoseeker builds are far too many patches behind desu, you have a better chance with youtubers' as they are also more didactic
>>
>>3207418
Best mod. any mod that fixes armor is great imo. It also fixes Arue and Regill class to make them viable even in Hard or unfair.

Why does Owlcat like bloating every creature stats from the tabletop?
>>3208314
After act 2 it's mostly demons and some monstrous humanoids with very few humans here and there. this is the demon specific AP after all.
>>
>>3208516
Because they want to compensate for the fact that they give you a 6 man party, more magical items on a rapid pace, characters not based on random dice rolls or 15 point boy, a non-human dm who could use tactics, essentially only flat terrain for most encounters and no use of non-strictly combat skills for you nor your enemies (so no dragons that fly, burrowing enemies etc)
>>
>>3208520
Even than giving bloating stats and ac somehow doesn't make the game difficult. They should have instead given the demons more powers and abilities to fuck your squad up instead of giving a random Glabrezu more hit die then he is suppose to have and some extra Nat armor out of nowhere. I hope they atleast make the next Pathfinder game a tad bit tactical next time
>>
>>3208527
Wrath has given more prebuffing and abilites/spells to enemies compared to kingmaker and more varied enemy compositions, but it it's still not that tactical especially when you go past act 4
>>
>>3208426
Your pet needs buffs to function at full potential just like other party members. An easy example is the fact that you can cast Magic Armor on them for a free +4 AC and get deflection bonus from Shield of Faith/Protection From Evil. 3 Ranks of Mobility will give you extra AC from Defensive stance and increasing their Int to 3 at level 4 lets you pick Improved Unarmed Combat as a feat, and therefor you can also get Crane Stance, Crane Wing and etc. Bark Skin and other sources of Natural Armor will all stack up as long as they're different types. In general only Dodge bonuses and sometimes Circumstance bonuses stack from multiple sources, while other types take only the highest source of that type of bonus, i.e. Enhancement, Deflection, Competence, Sacred and etc.

The best use for pets is to tank, either by mounting a caster MC or taking the frontline with Seelah. Their AC is still not quite as high as a multiclassed or min/maxed Vivisectionist/Sword Saint or Scaled Fist/Oracle, but you make certain sacrifices in spell/feat progression and desirable capstones by taking those builds on anything other than Legend.
>>
>>3208520
Yeah, the complete lack of AI is the problem they are compensating for. It's just attack closest target.
>>
>>3208520
>>3208527
Another good reason is that players in Pen and Paper games are usually not given full information on statistics and abilities for enemies, even if you make your lore checks its not like your DM hands you the enemy's sheets. It's also very rare for a player to get to control and synergize an entire party rather than having to interact with other personalities and make something work.
>>
>>3208138
IIRC there is no actual time limit, missing either the tavern defense does not force a game over state.
>>3208236
Either reload until the RNG favors you or abuse the shrouded step+TB bug.
>>
>>3208516
They're shit game designers is why.

Why do people pick difficulties labeled "hard" and "unfair" and then complain that the monsters are too hard or unfair? Serious question.

>>
>>3208134
Unlimited big ranged touch attacks trivialise most of the game. It feels awful trying to play with prepared spellbook classes after using a high level kineticist.
>>
>>3208310
>What do you do when the game decides that you rolled a 1 on your stealth check and you start a battle in the middle of level draining demons with no buffs?

Don't try doing that if playing iron man hth
>>
>>3208622
By time limit I mean that the quests are designed and progress within a certain span of time and the game recognizes it. For Act 1 if you put off assaulting the Gray Garrison for too long then there's a battle where the demons assault the Defender's Heart, and the whole Act has a sense of immediacy to it, same sense with Act 2.
>>
>>3208550
Kingmaker's ai was unironically better (especially in turn-based). Enemies would actually disengage from tanks to target weaker enemies sometimes.
>>
>>3208664
Dunning Kruger effect. You have brainlets who overestimate their own capabilities because they care too much about looking good rather than being good, and then get ball blasted after biting off more than they can chew.
>>
>>3208821
To each their own. I tried out Kineticist for a bit and found it too limiting, especially compared to how Wizards can copy as many spells to their book as they want and then swap them out each rest.
>>
>>3208829
Been noticing this. In Wrath every enemy seems to instantly target my whichever party member has the highest AC, while in Kingmaker they purposefully go for whichever has the lowest AC (especially archers)
>>
>>3208826
I mean for your stealth check to avoid a random encounter.
>>
>>3208839
There's definitely some bullshit random encounters in Wrath. KM was easy-going unless you wandered into a higher level area (like doing the tieflings quest as soon as it was available) and maybe a couple of the Troll Trouble encounters.
>>
>>3208754
>btw what's all the severed heads for?
Daeran. complete his quest
>>
>can no longer combine Alchemist and arcane bomber to get 40d6 empowered bombs
fucking gay. why does Owlckek keep nerfing classes and combos so much?
>>
>>3208878
It is annoying because they keep nerfing niche builds.
>>
>>3208878
When did they break that, I think it was supposed to work that way from P&P rather than it being accidental owlbrew
>>
>>3208899
No it's 100% Owlbrew. I don't know what possess them to nerf their own cool shit like elemental barrage, Zippy magic kinetic blast and trickster clown metamagic that allows you to turn a 9th lvl spell into a 1st or a cantrip
>>
Atleast i got some very good spell DC and tons of spell slots thanks to Cognotgen and grand intellect. I can also give myself and everyone +8 enhancment bonus to ability scores thanks to Idealize, be good at all skill checks and thtow 61 DC dispell bombs which i am pretty sure scales with your character lvls. all in all Grenadier+Arcane bomber is still a good combo even tho it's nerfed and lost its main appeal
>>
>>3208912
What mythic did you start from? Going arcane bomber first and lich-ing is probably way better than trickster if your damage bombs will never be competitive with lich nukes

but then you'd have corrupt magic
>>
>>3208664
Because there's achievements for, because I've already gotten past that part on core, which was pretty doable
The game just suffers from a total lack of testing to release those difficulties as they are. Enemies are simply buffed way too much and you have few possibilities to counter them at that point
>>
>>3208916
Trickster for the crit range bombs. but you are right, i thank i should try Arcane bomber Lich+grenadier to get merged spellbook and tons of bombs.
>>
I feel like every companion can be turned into something very strong except Arueshalae. Saddled with 8 levels of a terrible class with 0 (zero) useful perks. You couldn't make a worse ranger if you tried.

What class should i combine with my legend monk for maximum damage? Was thinking demonslayer but Arue has favored enemy outsider and can give everyone +10 to attack and damage so that's seems redundant. also give some good male monk portrait
>>
>>3208836
IME on unfair they always target the lowest HP character (if they don't have an AoE ready, which they always use if they do), so basically if you put last stand on ember and nenio you get 3-4 free turns of "tanking". They have to be physically blocked by summons to attack them, otherwise they're usually ignored.
>>
>>3208937
Fighter with weapon training is an obvious choice. Mutt warrior with mutagen especially. Maybe two handed warrior if you go with quarterstaff specialist.
Slayer bonuses also apply

I assume you do not plan sohei or sensei which opens different possibilities.
>>
>>3208946
*this is excepting the usual trash fight situation where you get to attack first, where they can be easily manipulated to aggro only on a tank. But 9/10 of the worst fights come out of a dialog where it doesn't work that way
>>
Why does everyone build merged book angel characters as melee fighters when 99/100 times your best use of a turn is bolt/storm of justice and a quickened bolt/storm of justice. You will never swing a weapon in a difficult fight and it's a waste to put a good weapon like gravesinger on you instead of someone that might melee as a first option.
>>
>>3208961
>Why does everyone build merged book angel characters as melee fighters
Literally who does that
>>
>>3208949
Fighter seems like a good option. was trying to find another class that increases my fist size category but i guess getting extra damage and more feats is better
>>
>>3208961
>>3208962
Because there's no downside other than that weapon being given to someone else.
>>
>>3208968
you'd have more and better casts fully pumping wisdom and ignoring all melee feats and mythics, like taking sorcerous reflex and favorite metamagic bolstered/empowered over melee mythics, expanded arsenal to get the knockdown to actually work, bringing court poet over skald, etc.

but even unfairspergs build them as divine gish type characters even though it's pointless
>>

Because i want to larp as a holy warrior without playing as a paladin.

This would be a much better idea for angellegends than actual angels, you can't get greater abundant or any other feats to let you spam more justice and you can pump BAB into outer space
>>
>>3208992
Been thinking of doing something similar. give myself a oracle spellbook and merge while still playing as a paladin. That way i have angel spells, CHA sepll scaling and saving throws and smite evil for the ultimate destroyer of evil playthrough.
>>
>>3208821
Its very trivial to give a divine caster a bow or melee weapon and have them be good at it by combining buffs and their innate 3/4 BAB. Nothing a kineticist does can downsell a pure arcane character's ability to just handwave an entire encounter with instant death. Regardless of what type of caster you make, all the spell schools combine both tactical and offensive options unless you make an abjuration specialist, and even then dispel is absolutely indispensable to your party on core and above.

Kineticist's usefulness comes from their ability to do Ranged/AoE combat maneuvers, which is not entirely the best trade for the entire set of buffing spells. You should consider them as Archers who do less damage but can CM from a range. It's not worth it to make the MC into one and it's a very brief time when they'll outshine something more obvious like a sword saint or a skald as a mercenary.

Valerie as a kineticist in kingmaker is absolutely bananas though, just trip everything in the game.
>>
>>3208937
The answer is always deliverer
>>
>>3209043
The combat maneuvers shit of kineticists is not actually that important unless you're doing the kalavakus demon exploit, it's just that they keep getting a shitload of nearly worthless wild talents after they've cherrypicked the good stuff so you might as well make a trip build. It's mostly that a composite blast deadly earth is a stupidly powerful persistent nuke (and so is cloud, but it comes after DE). They can also do a ton of damage to touch AC with an energy type blade and a full attack, but that takes tons of feat/mythic support and Bismuth. Most people are running all the shit to make melee characters useable on high difficulty like mark/community domain/madness domain/etc, but an energy blade kineticist can just hit those enemies straight up.
>>
>>3209043
>You should consider them as Archers who do less damage
What the fuck am I reading
>>
>>3209091
You're probably right about the persistent composites I legit forgot about those. But energy blade ain't as good as just being able to toggle maximized dex ignoring touch attacks as a magus sub-class, especially not when magus actually has access to full strength mirror image and the like to avoid getting splattered on the front line.

Archers are the midgame trash clearing master. As soon as you get cleaving shots, you mow down all of act 3. They fall off a bit late game because you can't buff their attack rating as high as a melee though.

I think they're shit the whole game. Bad crit range, split attribute dependency, prone enemy penalty, precise shot feat tax, don't benefit from being in a martial party with a skald, and no crusader's edge. Kineticists are mediocre until level 13 when they become gods, archers are always bad.
>>
>>3209278
Just use bane or vital strike and do big damage for the entire game. Both will split on cleaving shot to clear groups or hit bosses without checking AC by popping their adds. Crusader edge isn't the only source of bane, it even comes later than other sources.

I had to remake my save after losing data. Rushed through as fast as I could with Toy Box and I'm at Lann's showdown with Savamelehk, but it turns out I forgot to talk to Sull in Act 3 and get Lann to agree to be chief. Anybody happen to know which flag to set in Toy Box to change that? I've been trying but I can't seem to figure it out.

I find him a little annoying despite not being an evil companion liker. I feel like I always know exactly what he's going to say and it's always lame and unfunny and bitchy and his PQ resolution is just terrible. If Wenduag wasn't stone cold retarded evil I wouldn't have any desire to pick him.
>>
>>3209848
I'm not a fan of his use of snark as an emotional shield either, so, it might be that everyone else is so bad that it makes him seem better, but I also don't get completely put off of a character because they have a quirk or two that I don't like. Lann's outlook is one of the more agreeable ones in the game.
>>
>>3209855
Yeah I just think of him as a RL person, often annoying but hey he doesn't put babies on spikes. Seelah and Sosiel have the same problem, they tend to make good companions realistically annoying and boring and evil companions into cartoons. Another question to those who played on ironman. How would you do the end of act 1 fight? You just start from the beginning of the game until the vrocks don't instantly daze your whole party?
This game just seems like a terrible choice to play Ironman on. Way too much RNG.
>>
>>3209911

You can reload, you just can't die and only get one save. It's possible on core because people have done it. For the wardstone fight you just need to realize that all your CC spells have a 67 DC so you can just drop everything with grease/slumber in turn based mode.

If I had to pick a class for it rn it's Sword Saint no question. Having perfect initiative is really powerful.
>>
>>3209911
i can't imagine why anyone would want to play a crpg ironman unless they are doing it to entertain people, like that bg1/2 autist.
>>
>>3209848
Wenduag's position makes sense if you romance her. In her entire village she's the only one who had to grow up, so all you have to do is treat her like a needy teenager because she literally is one.
>>
>>3210004
BG1/2 RNG can't screw you. Every situation with an RNG element can be 100% negated.
Pathfinder is not like that.
>>
>>3209848
>>3209855
His sarcasm was off putting at first but after speaking to him in the Defender's Heart and getting to know him better it's entirely understandable considering how difficult his life has been. Lann is a little awkward and he's not perfect but I like the fact that he's honorable and he chooses to abide by his better nature despite his circumstances, and he values his community and his heritage as being a descendent of crusaders. At out of all of the companions he has the most solid reason to fight with you in the Crusade.
>>
>>3210032
What rng element of pathfidner cannot be mitigated the way BGs can?
>>
>>3210067
>fail stealth roll
>random encounter of extremely high level demons
>you are completely unbuffed
>all roll high on initiative and target MC

I'm find with being corrected here if I'm missing something. I haven't actually tried ironman. I have been paying attention to how encounters that I die to go though in case I do decide to try. I have beaten BG1 and 2 ironman.
>>
>>3210032
I mean, it's not like it'd be fun either way in a game where you can resurrect people. Ironman is for roguelikes and ARPGs.
>>
>>3210078
Also I'd add that the DCs for avoiding random encounters are extremely high.
>>
>>3210081
It started from me not liking how savescumming negates a huge portion of game mechanics. Also Baldur's Gate 1 is a very short game if you know what you're doing. I only bothered to beat BG 2 once that way. But BG 1 is always fun to replay ironman.
>>
>>3210000
I am fully aware of 95% grease lockdown in that fight but you HAVE to have someone with a paralysis or sleep spell scroll roll higher initiative than the vrock or you lose, and if it rolls 20 on the save you lose. If you alt-F4 when that happens to reload instead of watching a babau roll up and kill your MC and delete your save, that's save scumming.
>>
>>3210078
last stand pretty much negates that kind of shit after the first mythic

Make him a vivi for majority levels , which lets him juice and get better party support with sharing personal buffs and tank even better (he does have access to archmage armor).M ake him ELdritch Knight. Fixes the bab for better offense and can use rays a bit better. Ignore party support and spellcasting and go Sword Saint for the best tanking and defense. Dex sword saints sill good. The gap till you get him back helps him avoid awkward levels from multiclassing pretty well.

I generally go vivi for party utility

>>
>>3210595
The trouble with lawtism is always the misguided belief that the law is right and just. In reality, laws exist to maintain order and social cohesion. Just because precautions exist to ensure the right and just outcome occurs doesn't mean that happens. Very often these systems are corrupted and warped to fit certain individuals' needs. Law is nothing more than a construct of man and his beliefs in the end. It too is short-lived and misguided.

I don't know what you're talking about, I built mine as a bow using cleric with erastil mod to make wisdom affect archery. The bow adds dps in between casting rounds or when out of spells esp. if I'm distracted doing other things.

It also fits the angelic theme better IMO, but I'm used to being the RPG legend around here with the coolest characters no matter what I choose to play or build, so there's that.

In DnD it's literally a cosmic force holding the intrinsic structure of all planes together.
In real life human created order is the only thing opposing the cold void of entropic destruction. I suggest you get on the right team and go down swinging instead of embracing nihilism as you have.
>warped systems for certain individuals
You talk like a loser and losers are literally entropic, death, evil. Those individuals are winners, which could be you, were you not a loser on Team Nihilist.

If I never do this act 3 investigation crusade card called "treachery" (I'm pretty sure it's about investigating one of camellia's murders) will I never see that scene where Anevia catches her? What happens if I postpone it until like chapter 5?
>>
>>3210596
>The trouble with lawtism is always the misguided belief that the law is right and just.
The problem with lawtism is a fundamental misunderstanding or rather, a lack of understanding, as to what gives law any source of legitimacy and reason to adhere to it beyond a temperament for structure. Law derives its legitimacy from divinity. Go back to ancient Babylon and look at Hammurabi's code and what does he site as the source and reason for adhering to this set of decrees? The gods. Go back to ancient Egypt and what does Pharaoh use as justification for his rule and ability to enact laws? That he's a god and a descendent of certain gods. When you have a society that demands stringent adherence to structure but cannot cite any reason for obeying this structure outside of itself then it ends up becoming dystopian and circular, because at that point rules exist because they exist and people make them and people are in charge because they are the ones in charge and any concepts of right and wrong become arbitrary. Law is not an end in itself, and adherence to rules and regulations at the expense of spirit ends up removing the element that gives law legitimacy and power to begin with.
>>
>>3210472
They are shit aside from the dashing cavalier gloves which are somewhat useful in early lvls.
>>
>>3210601
If you believe in the law and order imposed by secular governments that do not believe in anything higher than themselves and actively subvert justice to protect their own interests, then you are actively siding with cosmic malevolence on a grand scale.
>In real life human created order is the only thing opposing the cold void of entropic destruction
Your fundamental understandings of reality is false, and you have been fed faulty epistemology for the sake of control and subverting your interests towards supporting wickedness.

Man I imagined a brown fur transmuter mercenary would be awesome but their tiny number of spell type slots is insanely crippling after the early game. Especially with a brown fur where the main gimmick is buffing allies, but that leaves you with absolutely nothing for combat. Apparently in P&P they can swap a spell slot out in the field with a 1 arcane point exploit which would improve the class massively. It almost seems like an oversight that they get nothing from those spontaneous caster items like red salamander.

It wouldn't be as strong as a merged spellbook lich but it's perfectly viable.
There are some nice martial-appropriate mythic powers and lich spellbook is great even if you're not getting it early. The spellbook would be especially valuable if you don't want to bring Nenio or Woljif along since it gives you access to haste and the essential arcane defensive buffs.

Any class with pounce or monk with pumeling style loves lich cause you can combine mythic charge plus his lich power to stack it for great effs.
Lich has pretty good buffs for any martial too. Cavalier can work to make his one shot charge ridiculous as well.
Tank builds would also work.
Alchemist lich in theory has some benefits, but nothing amazing honestly.

One ran I did in Midnight isles was Full Cleric/Full lich and it was pretty good, but that is because the class and the mythic are busted, not so much because of synergy
>>
>>3210763

>>
>>3211611

It can become irritating later in the game if your PC is a fighter or similar armored class and has the highest athletics and mobility in which you need to pass higher and higher skill checks, as it necessitates save scumming to don and doff your armor.
>>
I just started Inevitable excess and im having a hard time bros. I breezed through the main game but this is pretty hard. A lot of enemies seem to have really high AC and concealment that true seeing and see invisibilty cant fix. My high damage spells seem to do almost nothing too (besides storm of justice that is still OP)
>>
>>3211609
There are CC spells that can use athletics or mobility to check on difficult terrain or escaping pits though. Fighter's main gimmick is raising the armor cap so you can stat Str/Dex/Con, they boost their basic stats and carry buffs. You need that AC check because you end up boosting both str and dex by enhancements.
>>
>>3211658
echolocation or some other form of "blindsight" penetrates most concealment that true sight doesn't (exception is aspect of areshkagal, which notably Areelu has). Also makes you immune to gaze attacks

echolocation is a personal transmutation spell so the only way to spread it around to everyone is alchemists, brown fur transmuters, and scrolls
>>
Hey, I'm doing angel path and I was doing the angel quest in act 4. At one point I ambush the echo of deskari in his evil house. Then I step into the room he was in and it triggers a weird cutscene like he's still alive and I kill some weeny golem.

I played kingmaker completly blind and unmodded on normal, it was a lot of fun but the last half of the game was a cakewalk. Playing wotr now, this time I decided to look up what each class do and use the respec mod to choose the starting class of each companion, so it's basically like playing with 5 merc while keeping companion interraction. I turned ember into a fur brown transmuter and made a team with 3 pets, the goal is to turn the pet into dragons when I can. My mc is an oracle that became angel for rp.

Because I've looked stuff up online and use mod I decided to increase the difficulty and play on core. But I'm mid chapter 3 and the game is getting super easy, is controlling the class of all party member unfair only ? Or are fur brown transmuter / angel too strong and it would be fine with others class ?

core isn't difficult, except when it throws bullshit at you unexpectedly. most fights are a cakewalk if you have a clue what you're doing.

respeccing companions is definitely cheating though, especially if you're adding loads of pet cheese.

You meet Ulbrig in Act 1 in Kenebras at the library. He'll be petrified into a Griffon statue and will fly off. Based old man especially, Yariel too
This game can be pretty gay until you have the required myriad of buffs to compensate
Like dretches are the devil until you realize communal resist poison neuters them
AC is stupid high too and how heavy armor characters really can't compete is gay. Hope they make more Pathfinder games but it's hard to see them ramping it up past this one

>40d6 bombs
how? pretty sure you could only increase it to 10d6 as a alchemist and get it too 20d6 bombs. Best thing about that combo is the fact that dispel bomb scales with your character lvl so you can pretty much dispell anything and even empower your bombs by sacrificing a sprll. Shame there is no grenadier equipment in this game like in Kingmaker

Law choices in this game seem so consistently retarded that I don't know if I can handle Aeon.
I think if every single "Lawful" dialog label in the game was replaced with "Lawful Evil" it would only seem wrong like 1/10th of the time or less.

>>
>>3213103
The system was dumbed down from kingmaker. In kingmaker, you had [lawful good] and [chaotic neutral] tagged options. In WotR they’re all simplified to, effectively, be [lawful neutral] [neutral good] etc, “pure” choices.

They also made the grid a circle instead of a square, with each pure choice moving you straight up/down/left/right, so a paladin can fall by petting too many puppies and shifting his alignment to neutral good.

People changed alignment in Kingmaker too, that is why they introduced Scroll of Atonement in 1.1 patch. Cause if LG option is not there, many people could not even juggle the good and lawful responses.

Of they were weak and could not embrace Lawful Goodness
>>
>>3213329
I exclusively played paladins in kingmaker and wotr and I can’t imagine fucking up enough to shift alignment, but it’s kinda funny in theory.

Now, romancing Camellia, I definitely burned a couple scrolls of atonement.
>>
>>3213339
Picking "good" options in Kingmaker shifts you to Neutral Good.
>>
>>3213339
I had to assiduously pick most every non-retarded lawful option in WotR (and skip some "good" responses when lawful was unpickable) just to have some breathing room in the lawful good zone.
>>3213315
On the contrary, I really liked my lawful neutral run in Kingmaker since you could actually stay lawful with reasonable LG, LN, and LE options. In WotR you can eat a baby (E), demand a baby be executed for treason (L), hug the baby (G), hug the baby plus a joke answer (C), or also hug the baby (no alignment shift).

Wrath really gutted the alignment system and the Lawful options feel fucking retarded, and some of the Chaos options are borderline evil. In Kingmaker a lot of the pure chaotic options were genuinely just strange and unusual but didn't involve torture (ex abolishing import taxes is a chaotic neutral action, in Season of Bloom bringing all the suspects into one room and having them argue with each other to expose themselves instead of conducting a lengthy investigation is chaotic neutral). They really should've just stuck with Kingmaker's alignment system instead of this dumbed down nonsense.
>>
>>3213435
Kingmaker had the issue where there were plenty of instances you had like 3 Alignment options out of the 8 combos (not counting TN) that could not represent you arguably and it's impossible to keep all options avaialble throughout the game.

Wrath;s problem is that some of the alignment options are written more with the mythics in mind, so many options feel extreme. Like the kind of evil a demon would be, not a selfish human
>>
>>3213441
>Kingmaker had the issue where there were plenty of instances you had like 3 Alignment options out of the 8 combos (not counting TN) that could not represent you arguably
Never really found that to be an issue personally. It was rare that I ever came across alignment options that weren't accurate to how my Baron would behave in that scenario.
>>
>>3213441
In Wrath you're just supposed to pick the no-alignment option whenever you don't like the options available.
>Just doing my job Ma'am.
Its not a perfect solution but it's serviceable, writing is hard!
>>
>>3213435
Both games are fucking terrible about alignment. Evil is always kill or outright doing dumb shit.

Like wow, this evil person is at your mercy
[Evil] Kill
When instead you could let him live and he'd keep doing evil things which could give you an advantage.

Or wow, you saved this merchant from a couple bandits
[Evil] Kill
When instead he could give you a reward or you could leverage (force) better prices by letting him live

stupid shit like that, it's just outright retarded choices. If someone were this shortsighted he wouldn't get far in life.

You didn't play very far then or played a good/neutral character who didn't bother doing evil decisions. On my chaotic evil half-orc barbarian character I spread Lamashtu worship everywhere and accepted the blessing and as soon as I got to Vordekai I sold all of the souls on the black market and then spared him and built him a tower. Iirc (been a few years) but the necromancer was exploiting the rules of Sosiels order of clerics, as he surrendered and gave up all of his possessions, which put him at their mercy, and so they were required to take him in and aid him, and were not allowed to harm him. The necromancer was also taunting Sosiel because he had done the same gimmick to the church you’re fighting him in, they took him in as a refugee and he repaid their kindness by murdering them and raising them as undead. Inquisitor for Bane+Judgement+Divine Favor/Power. You can take only 16 levels if you would like to dip something that gives you lead arrows. Something like a Tactical Leader 16/Freebooter 4. Pick community domain, obviously. Rapid shots is basically a feat tax to get at many shots and improved snap shots, but bane will activate on both arrows from many shots, unlike sneak attack dice. You won't do as much damage as a Vivisectionist or Slayer landing their sneak attacks but your team support is solid and your attack roll is (probably) better. You can save feats on your teammates by applying Outflank+Shake it Off+Seize the Moment with the tactical leader's special ability.

The trick to dealing with Blackwater is make sure your party has blasters equipped with at least 6th level spells (so around level 12-13, and make sure you have Nenio or Ember or preferably both) and then just spam those on the augmented demons and abuse summons to draw their attention, then rest spam and repeat the process all over again. Tedious but doable and should take 20 minutes at most for encounters.

>Choices where the evil option amount to anything other than kill are few and far between.
You did not play the game, then, especially since the first evil option you can even preform involves stealing money from Brevoy soldiers salaries and then claiming to Jamandi that you need it more than they do.
>My character is evil and he wants the evil option to provide him an advantage instead of an outright detriment
Define what you mean by advantages and detriments. The example I listed above, which is the first evil option you can preform in the game, is a direct advantage to your total income, and then quickly after extorting Oleg is only available to evil aligned characters. Also if we're using finishing off a bandit as an example of a detriment, how the hell is sparing your enemies only for them to be a pain in your ass later not detrimental? A lot of the good aligned options are stupidly merciful, sparing outright enemies only for them to either get away forever or show up later and stab you in the back. Rarely do you ever spare someone with the advantage of them becoming a merchant later or giving you something that's immediately beneficial to you and you alone. It's almost like you never touched the game.

You just can't expect her to kill 4 highly leveled shadows before they rape my mages and everyone else with strength drain. I just need more ghost touched shit or load up on ember and attack spells

By the way, are the other totem thingies good on her? For example, nature has one ability that makes an enemy blind but I'm not sure if it needs to pass a DC or if it 'just works', because her dcs are also horrible

There is a shield and a set of medium armor that give +1 damage/die for energy (ice) spells that no one else has a real claim on unless your MC is a non-Lich non-Angel blaster using the same crossblooded sorc dip that can equip them.

Use stormlord's resolve (lightning bracers) to give him chain lightning and stormbolts until you hit level caster level 19 to get 3 hellfire rays

Do people really get filtered by Blackwater that much?
There is only one difficult enounter in the entire dungeon.

>at the final showdown with Mother at Threshold
>it's getting late

>while I was sleeping she casted Weird on my HDD and Greater bestow curse on me
Devilish.
Anyway, what are good class combinations for an Arcanist?
I was thinking of doing something like 9 Arcanist (white mage I think since I don't trade anything for it)/10 Loremaster/1 crossblooded for elemental/dragon/dragon (or undead) bloodlines
also I see that the game is still bugged as shit since my spell turns to fire damage at random

I don't use him for melee he's full support/heal battery. I more or less use Ember and the MC for blasting this time so he fulfills my lack of heals until Sosiel gets his mythic ranks and stops being bad for anything more than 2 or 3 fights. He doesn't do damage he procs the chain by standing there and keeps everyone else green.

Dont use arcanist its bugged to shit and wizard is just better.
>>
>>3215173
Don't go arcanist for damage spam.
Either go brown fur or phantsmal mage and a few loremaster levels for spell picks

>Her damage is fucking horrible
she is suppose to be a crit & hex dispenser. I use her mainly for barkskin and some hexes. she can also be a decent tank but Seelah and my mc got that covered.

I would say its tedious rather than difficult.
Even when you can beat them they are still very annoying tanky encounters with those kavalakus due to really high AC and regeneration. I remember the first time I did it I was down to 1 of them after like 40 minutes and then because I had ran out of relevant spells and such I had to just conventionally kill it... thanks to bad rolls and its regenration it unironically too like 30 rounds to die. Its just really weirdly balanced mobs compared to about most other things in the game

>stack all the unique buffs
>optimize character builds
>make proper use of hexes
That's really about it. Sometimes if an enemy is really strong you have to dispel their buffs. If you know you're going into a big fight summon a million critters to help out.

Of course the real challenge is going to be learning all the unique sources of hit bonus and AC bonus. I can't really explain it all in a single post. If you just want to win without thinking play a kineticist and spam deadly earth on everything.

Is there any reason to play another race over Humans? they get one extra feat which allows your blaster builds to come online early thanks to prcise shot, martial to get weapon focus and power attack and CC to spell focus and greater focus early. Assimar and teiflings don't sound that useful because they only just get one feat at 1 lvl

I think I just popped paralyze or instant death on them

last playthrough was a year ago

>>3215223
Elves get 3 extra spell penetration which is pretty important. You have much less control over penetration than you do DC or damage
>>
>>3215227
Spell pentration stop mattering after you get spell pentration and greater spell pentration. Getting extra spell pen aside from mythic spell pen in mr4 is useless.

>bugged
only thing I remember being bugged was Eldrich Font if I remember right, what else is bugged?
>>3215200
I was mostly going arcanist because I wanted a flexible spellcaster character and I like the hybrid spellbook it has
>>
>>3215223
Elves for spell pen plus bow/elven weapon
Aasimars for stat hungry builds that get shit from multiple sources.
Tieflings a bit of the same, and you used to pick them for qlippoth spawn bite.
Halve elves in wrath for the alternate race bonus to stack charisma even further.
Halflings for tiny dodgetanks

Plus, a few of the class locked archetypes are kinda cool (Phantsmal mage, cavalier of the paw, Reedemed fiend, wildland shaman)

you get the location unlocked way too early in act 3 and the dungeon locks you in unless you have a very high use magic device skill on someone
enemies have extremely high AC meaning you really ought to bring a lopsided energy damage party you might not use normally
people that haven't played Kingmaker might never have seen the regeneration mechanic before

I can see how it breaks some balls

The way arcanist spell selection works is a massive negative. In pen and paper they were designed to have an arcane exploit where they could swap an available spell using a point from their pool as a full round action, but in this you have to rest to swap any of them and they just have way too few.

Arcanists will be stuck with only 2-4 available spells at each spell level and if you want to use multiple metamagic versions of a spell (like a bolstered spell and an empowered spell) both versions will take up one of your ultra-precious spell slots. It ends up feeling as limiting compared to wizard or sorcerer type arcanes as level 6 half-casting classes do. Even spontaneous casters have more available known spells, they get to use these various elemental items in the game to expand their spells available, and they get to freely use any combination of metamagic they want.
