I just started playing this today. I'm playing it completely blind except for knowing you can equip 4 rings and Alice is some eldritch abomination conglomerate thing? Forgot about the Sewers existing the entire time until right now. Bought all of the witch lady's magic and became apprentice, even though I picked Knight class despite my love for mage roles in games. Because it's fucking Grimm and I've seen enough OC and art of him as that, so why wouldn't I pick Knight class? Anyway, after that I went and beat the Hyena of Hunger in the ranch. He was an easy chump; all I did was spam Parry with Grimm and Defend with Leaf while he's frenzied, then immediately go on the offensive when he's not. Checked a bit of Jacob's Mine, but didn't go in past the start. Upgraded Knight's Sword to +1 because even though I like the seppuku meme of Broken Sword, it's 1 turn of too much setup for not enough dps. Murdered my way through every single encounter in Graveyard Town Elixir, looted every house and treasure, got Grimm and Leaf to level 18, and... could only get the cerberus church boss to a quarter HP before I wiped. Fuck his lightning causing disarm status or whatever. Went to Secret Garden, couldn't go in because blocked. Went to Tainted Bog, and the first encounter sprayed shit water at Grimm 3 times in a row before I could act and killed him from full HP. Then I went and curbstomped Bremen shitters. With Grimm at 20 and Leaf at 21, both having Soul Discharge, maybe now I have a shot at beating the cerberus church guy with magic dps before he magic nukes us. Then I'll finally stop messing around and go for the fucking sewer. I've never picked a single kill/rape choice yet because I want to save all that for a second playthrough.

I ask a controversial question.As of BS2, what parts of game design is Toro bad at? I think his development of "non-linear" worlds needs some work, as the world is utterly unleveled you are still somewhat on rails. Yes you can clear BS2 in its entirety without any levels or stat-ups, but this requires some very specific knowledge of the game, such as knowing how to get Storm Ruler without a single fight.

They seem to have some status resistance too, based on my attempts with Frog Princess Ring plus Morgenstern+10 stun abuse. Their regular attacks also hit the entire party, same as the spew move. Randomly they move 2 or 3 times before I can go once too. I did lower the difficulty back down to 0 from 5 like a fucking pussy afterward, but what else am I supposed to do in the face of this blatant boss cheating? BS2 overall is a big leap in quality from BS1, but it takes until DLC 3 for the game to really start tossing anything noteworthy your way as far as fights go.
