Too expensive for a remake this of this caliber because it only has the most basic and rudimentary system of the series

But it's okay, you don't need to fear the time limit in this game, you'll have plenty of time to do everything and even the unlimited time won't save you from missable events and this is designed with to be replayed with new game plus.

I know "soul" and "soulless" get tossed around a lot but this is genuinely soulless. Gust has become generic KT yes men that only care about profits and how to milk consumers as much as possible. Of course all games are made to make money but I don't see any passion behind this at all, not even a little. It looks like they're taking characters from other games in the series and just shoving them into this gacha for shameless fan service. I didn't like it in Nelke and I don't like it here. The characters have their own games and own stories and this just cheapens that. It's reduced down to "look, we have all your favorite characters, give us money". It's sad to see but I really hope none of you plan on supporting the series going in this direction. If it's successful you can guarantee KT will demand all future mainline Atelier games be gacha. That being said I didn't like the Ryza games either so even if they kept making proper single player games, I just can't this series ever becoming good again.
>>
>>3184011
>KT will demand all future mainline Atelier games be gacha
It's not something I'm looking forward to, but making more atelier gachas would just make it harder for them to get any money from any single one. I'm guessing this is supposed to be some big 25th celebration game, but it's quality looks like it's suffering from the usual- having to release sooner than they were prepared to. A26 will just be another general release, more than one gacha in such a short timespan wouldn't help them
>>
So this is basically Nelke but for zoomer paypigs? Wonder if they're still gonna release a "normal" game next year, or they're taking a break.
>>
>>3184046
Break seems unlikely but I guess it's a way to try and get the name out there more since they're moving away from Ryza

>>
>>3185601
Anyone playing Atelier knows that a gacha isn't going to work and is 100% different than what they play the games for. There's no reason to care, really.
If it somehow ends up being good, it's still not going to be good as an Atelier game, but as just another gacha.

I dunno why they consider it part of the mainline, but so did DQ and FF consider their MMO part of the mainline, and they are drastically different from what you expect of their mainlines as well. Just the usual marketing BS. They know they are going to have an extremely hard time, no matter what. By being just a spinoff, people wouldn't even pay ANY attention to it whatsoever.
>>

No, it wasnt criticized for its gameplay but its horrible performance issues like Blue Reflection 1 but different. It ran at 10-15fps with lower resources consumption

Stock as much metal items as possible for third city otherwise you will lose 2 weeks of crafting
>really? across all platforms? Open world really comes at a cost
DX version already fixed it but it was sit at launch
BR1 shares the original Elixir engine build with different usage and its always shitted on when discussed. Some anons had to UV their gpus so they dont overheat
Elixir engine performance wasnt decent until Lulua
>>
>>3185777
Yeah, I already made that mistake of not having metal items.... I farmed some metal items over near the beginning area for a few days instead of crafting ingots.

Maybe Atelier has ran to gacha because Kishida Fumiko(Feminist PM) banned bikini from Japan, like anime and CS games. But Jap gacha gets a pass as grey zone for being irrelevant(according to Nakaido). Only media of Japan where bikini is allowed... for irrelevancy. We shall blame this Dark lord, Kishida Fumi(k)o, If the bikini is on anime or Jap CS? Increasing tax by X2!

best alchemy in the series imo. Plot is mostly self-contained so you don’t HAVE to play the other Arland games first but you miss a lot of references and in-jokes if you don’t. Music is pretty good.

Overall the best game in the series.
You should at least understand Rorona-Sterk meme posted here but thats all because its not that related to its prequels
Best alchemy system which become better once you learn how to exploit and bypass TP system. Ask me if you want to know how
One of the best plots (all plots are retarded but this one is not that bad)
Its a shame Lulua didnt get feature in Nelke since hers and Pamelas backstories would have make lot of sense
>>
>>3192128
>Overall the best game in the series.
It's good but I'd have a hard time agreeing with this after Ryza 3. They really covered every base you mentioned here with that one outside of needing to know what happened in it's previous entries, but I wouldn't say that's a bad thing
>>
>>3191855
Lulua's one of the best games in the series alongside L&S and Ryza 3. It basically boils down to which has characters you like more, and Lulua goes pretty strong there since it has a fuckton of Arland characters while L&S kind of fumbled that by excluding a lot of Sophie/Firis characters, and Ryza 3 does its best to pretend 2 doesn't exist.

Lulua is absolutely NOT self-contained. Play Meruru first. And the Totori true ending is necessary too, even.

totori reg ending(s) are better than the true one
nothing you discover past that point will enhance your experience of either game
>>
>>3192725
You should play Meruru because it’s also very good, but you don’t have to for Lulua. There’s only two characters that are new in Meruru and return for Lulua and neither of them have any background that’s not explained in the game. You’ll miss out on a little character development for Pamela, Totori, and Mimi but that’s about it.
>>
>>3193073
By true ending I mean the true final boss who's literally related to a party member in Rurua.
>>
>>3192150
ryza 3 was bad though. Alchemy is completely busted from the start if you grind out the skill tree and point gain is way too slow if you don't grind it at all. The basic uni bag is able to one shot enemies so you don't even need to make any other consumable items except a simple healing item for bosses. The open world is shit and there's very little reason to explore instead of gunning straight for quest markers with the only exception I can think of being grabbing the roses near the mansion on the starting island since the game never makes you go over there and you need them to make a gathering tool.
>>
>>3178903
>Hyped for a gacha of a single player offline mostly franchise
Nope see you till next game
>>
>>3192150
I would say Ryza 3 is the best game (as game) so far. But Lulua is the best Atelier game.
>>
>>3194127
Ryza 3's the highest budget game but it has a lot of balance and UX issues like hiding the fucking skill tree which results in you wasting points on worthless crap you can't use for ages while locking you out of actual important shit because you wasted your points on the worthless crap. Lulua and L&S are overall better games.
>>
>>3194345
>balance and UX issues
Every Atelier game is meant to be played overpowering the shit out of its mechanics
>the fucking skill tree which results in you wasting points on worthless crap you can't use for ages while locking you out of actual important shit because you wasted your points on the worthless crap
Unironically skill issue
>>
>>3194445
>Every Atelier game is meant to be played overpowering the shit out of its mechanics
In terms of doing alchemy to make overpowered shit

The Ryza series doesn't have that, instead you just fucking mash buttons and overpowered skills kill all the enemies, no need for items at all

You didn't play Ryza 3
>>

>>
I didn't play any of the Ryza games.
>>
I just finished the first one, I spent a lot of time making equipment but it is true that you don’t really need bombs to beat the game. You can say the same thing about other games too though (Meruru comes to mind). I did need to make a nice debuff item to beat the last boss in the DLC
>>
I played all of the Ryza games, and they ranged from OK to decent. The anime is also decent.
>>
I've played all of the Atelier games that have an english translation(except Nelke and the dead mobile game) and I found Ryza to be pretty good overall. 3 is the weakest of the trilogy for me, but I still enjoyed my time with it. It got pretty overwhelming at points because there was just so much to explore, but not much worth exploring for. I enjoy the ATB combat system and as long as we keep getting games like Sophie 2 I think everything will turn out good for fans of the franchise, regardless of Reslerina

>>
>>3198225
You could start with either Ryza 1 or Atelier Rorona DX and then play the next games in the trilogy you choose. Each trilogy is isolated from others, but there are plenty of connections between games in a trilogy (e.g. shared characters, similar game mechanics, a few references to past events). Not a big deal if you skip around to different trilogies, but can't recommend playing games in a trilogy out of order
>>
>>3198225
https://barrelwisdom.com/blog/atelier-series-guide
>>
>>3198225
The games within each subseries are tightly connected and usually share a lot of characters and plot points (e.g. in Ryza games the core party is the same across all 3 entries and the characters will casually talk about what happened in previous entries). But each subseries is its own world, there's no meta narrative like in Trails or Yakuza. Well there's a certain ghost girl who appears in majority of Atelier games across all settings and eras, but she's basically like Patches in FromSoft games. She can't remember when or how she died so she just drifts from place to place and tries to be cheerful about it. Her being undead is often a spoiler so I won't give you the name, but she's in Ryza games too.

Images like that make me want to play the Atlier games. Also why I liked DD. It's fun playing as a warrior with a big sword and protecting a cute girl.
>>
>>3202646
Ryza is pretty good for that, rest of the franchise not so much
>>
>>3202650
What does Ryza do that the others don't?
>>
Please just let this series die peacefully already, Koei you greedy hacks
>>
>>3202653
Genuine men that strive to protect the party. Not wimps like Mathias
>>
>>3202646
But you don't play as Sterk, you're the cute girl who bombs the enemies to hell.
>>
>>3202670
You're too caught up in the self inserting of it all. I just want games that have those kind of characters.
>>
>>3202653
Actually have at least one heavily muscled playable guy like Firis's and some others I'm forgetting. Most of the others have a twunk as the buffest character at best.
>>
>>3202498
Forgetting that the most popular character isn’t Ryza, it’s Sophie, and she hasn’t been announced yet.
>>
>>3202797
Sophie sales were nothing compared to Ryza.
>>
>>3202797
>most popular character isn’t Ryza, it’s Sophie
Until Atelier Ryza 1. Now its Ryza Sophie Totori
Yet Sophie merch sales like shit. Somehow way lower than Totoris
>>
>>3202743
Fair enough, it's a cute dynamic, especially between an autist and a retard.
>>
>>3202815
Is Totori really that popular?
>>
>>3202654
The series died spiritually years ago.
>>
>>3202815
I've seen two popularity polls in different contexts in the last 4 months and Sophie dominated both. Totori even beat Ryza in one of them.

Ryza literally saved the franchise, you really need to get over it. The series is doing better than it ever has now
>>
>>3203593
Saved from what?
If anything, Sophie saved the series by looking at sales, Ryza just attracted a lot secondaries.
>>
>>3203597
The very same reason you're giving to Sophie, the sales. She sold millions, not even Sophie did that
>>

>>3202815

Its more complex.
Sophie can only win within japland.
Totori will always score no worse than third.
Ryza will outsell the shit out of both hence she was featured during Atelier 2022 poll instead of Sophie despite her sequel being the last released game
>>
>>3203458
Should I try Rorona or Ryze?
>>
>>3203647
Ryza definitely. Overall it's the best trilogy in the series since all the others are lacking in something she has
>>
>>3203654
Alrighty. I kind of like Rorora's cute design a little more but I have heard mostly good things about Ryza
>>
>>3203647
Honestly it depends on your nostalgia level for PS3 era JRPGs. If you miss the style and humor, you’ll love Rorona. If you don’t care, Ryza’s alchemy is more fun.
>>
>>3203657
You get a mix of both on Lulua
>>
>>3203593
That's why I said spiritually. The series still exists but it's not something I'm touching with a thousand foot pole.

What are the chances of us ever getting a full yuri Atelier game instead of just heavy baiting? I mean they made Blue Reflection 2 and that was unabashadly yuri.. did it just not sell well?

Also how good is the Dusk trilogy? Ive only played the Ryza and Sophie games.
>>
>>3202093
Nope. Copying Heroes of the Storm.
>>
>>3204102
No male cast is never gonna happen. Closest you’ll get is probably Atelier Meruru
>>
>>3204102
Pure female isn't something they'd do, yuri baiting is in their blood so you'll have to take what you get there. As far as Dusk goes theres practically no yuri there unless you're headcanoning the hell out of some pairs like the Shallies. Best off going with the four Arlands since Totori and Mimi are practically an item or Firis since her and Cor could be seen that way too in L&S
>>
>>3178947

>>
Why do people think Dusk 4 is a possibility? Atelier never had a 4th game, right? And why Dusk in particular?
>>
>>3206602
Lulua and Sophie are considered Arland/Mysterious 4 because they're the fourth games in those settings, so some assume they'll eventually do the same with Dusk
>>
>>3206476
She's so fuckable. Imagine coming up with this design and not making it an alchemist, much less a rollable character.
>>
>>3206623

Lulua narrator literally says "Alchemist of Arland FOUR" on star menu. Everything on jap aside the FOUR
>>
>>3206602
Because Resna is not independant despite being a "main numbering", and being more like heroes of the storm. And considering gust has faster release phase with low budget.
>>
>>3206623
I don't understand why. The entire dusk debacle got solved, albeit badly, but still solved. I guess people really, REALLY just want to see central city.
>>

It's my favorite of the trilogies after Shallie plus' weak bandaid and I don't even see the need for more. I think people just want more of what we have instead of starting over or something. Lulua was cute but I don't see much need in inventing someone new for Dusk just for the sake of it. Unless they do something like Ayesha's trek between her game and Shallie like with Sophie 2, but I don't really need that filled in at this point, or Atelier Nio to answer more cradle stuff

Forgot to come back to report. I’ve played a bit. It’s okay I guess? It looks fantastic, not just by phone standards but even PS4 standards. The battle system is alright and I’d say it’s less braindead than Ryza’s. Haven’t unlocked enough alchemy to say much about it but it’s pretty simple.

WAY too many things to grind for, like you even need to grind for materials to raise the level cap of your characters with the cap starting at 10 which you hit in like an hour.
>>
>>3216015
so use the version that worked
>>
>>3216375
>WAY too many things to grind for, like you even need to grind for materials to raise the level cap of your characters with the cap starting at 10 which you hit in like an hour.
Oh and it's not even one type of material, there's five different colours for that material and you have to do different types of quests to grind for them. Why the fuck?

Thankfully there's a battle skip feature with no microtransaction crap involved so it's not too bad but having to do the skip for each of the five types one by one is still annoying.
>>
>>3216410
>Oh and it's not even one type of material, there's five different colours for that material and you have to do different types of quests to grind for them. Why the fuck?

>>
>>3216527
This is completely separate from alchemy materials, leveling materials, equipment leveling materials, card leveling materials, and all that other bullshit.

There's already like ten different kinds of grinding missions so it going in to one of them only to have it to split into another five is kind of too much.

Getting the newest update for the game fixed the ground being invisible and it also revealed it had only been crashing all this time because of one of the DLC's, though I am unsure which one.

Did anyone manage to play the Arland games on the Steam Deck without issues? I managed to get the videos to work using Proton GE + running a bash script to convert the .wmvs to play the audio properly, my only issue is the menu lag (when you open the main menu or inventory while doing a gathering attempt). If anyone has a solution for that I'd be grateful.
>>
>>3229958
That menu lag is there on Windows too, it's just a trash port, the game is rendering each letter in UI individually, killing the performance.

This mod fixes the lag, but it apparently leads to crashes in some scenes, up to you if you want to use it:

It annoys me that the Japanese don't follow the game price convention of slowly decreasing a games price depending on how old it is.

>picrel
If these were western games and ryza 3 had just released, only 3 would be full price. Ryza 1 would be down to a base price of about $35, while Ryza 2 would be down to around $50

Instead you get them doing shit like badly porting games from the snes and charging original release price of $50
>>
>>3232692
Just wait for a sale or pirate it retard
>>
>>3232692
I wouldn't really say that it's a Japanese specific thing, but having someone competent behind your pricing model is very important. Lowering prices can potentially convey desperation to your customers. Keeping a consistent price can convey to the customer that the seller believes that their goods haven't lost value. For a digital good, there are less risks that could cause a loss in perceived quality and value. Why sell for cheap when the perceived quality and value is the same?

Are they just using one artist for the whole game? Pretty nice if so.
>>

I think there's umiu_geso for Resna's party, tokki for Valeria's, and NOCO for the main villains. Since the legacy characters only have 3D renders instead of portraits, we can't say for sure, but they are sticking to a single style for all of them, so maybe.

I will never give a fuck about Atelier until they have proper pricing. It says a lot when a series is worse about price drops than Nintendo is.
>>
>>3239761
if you just want to avoid a bad ending they're pretty trivial. true ending without any ng+ bonuses is sort of difficult in rorona and totori but otherwise there shouldn't be any issues with the time limits other than not knowing about certain events and not trigging them.

Every time i play atelier i just keep doing item loops or trying to find out ways to get top tier traits and then the rest of the game is a boring slog of one shotting things.

Like right now I'm playing sophie 2 and got dragon god blessings and maxed out traits right after bringing platcha's soul back. I just one shot everything, but i still keep going through loops and maxing out everything. I don't know when to stop.
I lost to the black dragon cause i didn't have healing as i didn't need it, then tried getting the best healing traits spending a day doing so.
I've spend 75 hours on this game and still haven't finished it cause of this.
I don't know why i do this to myself.

I only got the weather stuff yesterday, and got all skills too.

I see it in almost all Japanese games, which is why I pointed them out. Very rarely do I see it in any other developer from other countries.

Sounds like shit business owners tell other business owners but has no bases in reality outside other business owners who are investors. No customer would consider it desperation to see an old product that isn't up to modern day standard being listed cheaper. Rather if they see the newest game of a long series and think it looks interesting, then go investigate the older games first, the older games being the same price would be off putting.

Why pay the price of a modern game for a game that is out dated, and so is an inferior product by the modern market standard? Where as the earlier products being cheaper makes it easier to confirm the initial sale and much more likely for the customer to buy all the others in the series.

Would be like out of 1000 interested customers, you could get a few hundred people willing to take a $30 plunge to try out the series, with perhaps 40 or so getting hooked and buying the rest. While only getting 4-5 willing to pay the 85 while maybe 1 goes on to the rest of the series.

>>3232783
the sale would be even cheaper if the base price was lower first.
>>
>>3251374
Ryza 1, 2, and 3 were released in a 4 year window. There isn't much of a difference in what "modern day standards" they used when they were being made. If you were talking about games with a 6 year or longer dev cycle or games that have been released for 10+ years, then your points would make more sense. As others have mentioned in the thread, the games do go on sale at multiple times of the year, but the reason for that is not related to a perceived decline in value. The experience that is being sold hasn't really changed just because the game is slightly older than before. Ryza 1 is just as important to play as Ryza 3 if you want to get invested in the trilogy.
>>
>>3251360
C'mon landlubber, at least try a little.
>>
>>3178903
To be honest I am not. Good series but only played Sophie 1, 2 and 1st Ryza. Characters are designed well but wished they look early 20's not ~14. That would really kick it into gear for me. Pure coomer logic here but whatever.
>>
>>3251395
Debatably, sure, I'll give that Ryza trilogy might barely skirt by (though I still think they should have dropped 5-20 between games for simple good marketing.) My comments on Japanese games as a whole still stands even with that. There is many SNES games and other such ones that have only had the most minimal porting effort put into them to get them on PC and they are set at original release prices. Not that it matters since making a concession for Ryza basically ruins my argument for this thread as nothing else is relevant.
>>
>>3251829
I did, googled for a half hour or so. That's why I was asking here.
>>
>>3252085
For what it's worth, I will concede that the Japanese do seem to have a unique mindset when it comes to pricing. They don't always make the best decision for their international fanbases too.
I do agree that lazy ports getting priced the same as a new AA or AAA game is extremely scummy. I don't think that it's super common, but it has happened plenty of times before. What's more common is getting a significant graphics update for an old game and seeing it priced $10 or $20 bucks below a new title price, like the Atelier Marie remake or Metroid Prime Remastered. The story is usually left untouched and no extra content is added. Is it worth the money? I guess it could be for people with nostalgia.
>>
>>3251374

Chronologically wise Sophie 2 happens between Sophie 1 and Firis so youre playing the correct way.
Do note Firis mechanics feel like shooting yourself in the foot. The only worthy QOL feature was having a map (somewhy not present on Lydie & Suelle)...
The whole Mysterious trilogy feels retarded when you think about it
>>
>>3256522
>Do note Firis mechanics feel like shooting yourself in the foot
That's because you're supposed to play it after Sophie 1 not 2. Firis is a next gen experience compared to Sophie 1 (and other PS3/Vita gen Ateliers), huge world, non-linear gameplay, so many new mechanics (including vehicles and underwater exploration), absolutely mind blowing at the time.

But nowadays? You're going back to a game which came out almost a decade ago, and was in fact their first try at the modern Atelier formula (all the things you see in modern games like gathering tools etc were first introduced in Firis), ofc it's gonna feel like ass in COMPARISON to the latest and hottest.

Solo leveling collab with atelier Resna when?

Event title: Solo Ateliering(俺だけのアトリエな件)

Sung Jin Woo(Shun Mizushio) as New character.
And His knife as core item.

Considering Solo leveling is more popular than Oshi no Ko,SnK,JJK,Demon slayer, Freiren,Bocchi in Japan. And it will be the AOTS next year even in Japan, for having no Japanese competitor from anime next season.
>>
I've never played Atelier but I've read some background story stuff and I'm interested in the world. Which games are worth playing for the lolstory or are there any? The mindfuckier the better.
>>
>>3257761
The story in these games is the equivalent of slice-of-life anime. There's usually some VERY low stakes goal to move the plot forward, like "renew your atelier's license so that you don't get evicted", and most of the cutscenes are spent chatting with friends about nothing in particular. They're a bit like Persona games, as in there's a calendar and lots of character events (kinda similar to social links), both with party members and various townsfolk.

I believe the Dusk games have most intriguing stories due to the setting being a dying world, but I haven't played them.

But yeah, you don't kill god or save the world in ANY of these games, I'm pretty sure. There are no twist deaths either, everyone always survives, even the villains (provided they're not just a mindless monster with no dialog). The villains might even join your party 1-2 games later.
>>

Solo leveling collab must come in Resna. Which is next AOTS and a black ship from Korea which will dominate the anime, which even China couldn't and made Tomino's concern right if China is changed to Korea. Solo leveling is more popular than Demon slayer,JJK,Spy x family, attack on titans, Oshi no Ko,Freiren in Japan. It will get AOTS even in Japan according to video platform ranks.
Which core item will Solo leveling collab give? Sung Jin Woo's Knife would be usable by Tao(ryza 2),Meruru,Logy and other sword wielders. Sung Jin woo will use his own Eintzelkampf, named Schwartzelkampf(Sawano Hiroyuki music on this fatal). I wanna see Jin Woo/Shun shouting Barrel. And he must be in Musou orochi 4 too. Considering Koei has made webtoon with Atelier sophie 1 and ryza 1.
>>
>>3257816
>But yeah, you don't kill god or save the world in ANY of these games, I'm pretty sure
yes, you do
Sophie saves the world from an evil alchemist who's alchemy is draining the life from it. Meruru and Lydie & Suelle save their whole country from a big volcano monster and an evil god respectively. Totori saves a small village of outcasts from an evil demon. Ayesha saves her sister from a plant god thing? though it's been a while since I played it so I forget if they called it a god or not, or if they mention any wide spread effects of what it was trying to do. Also firis gets to fight god but it's just an optional for fun fight because the god is bored.
>>
>>3259238
>they save their villages/towns
Yeah, not the world.
>>
>>3259394
it's disingenuous to say that saving their town/entire country is a VERY low stakes goal, even if it is technically lower than saving the world
>>
>>3257816
>I believe the Dusk games have most intriguing stories due to the setting being a dying world, but I haven't played them.
They have higher stakes too like Ayesha's is "save your sister or she'll fucking die".
>>
>>3259238
>plant god thing
It's a genome backup device that bugged out and started kidnapping living humans to put into storage, it wasn't going to destroy the world (it was made as an ark to preserve species past the end of the world rather) and it's not a god

That reminds me, they mentioned in some interview back when the game was first released that the lyrics for the final boss theme of Ayesha "Maria" which are in their fake language actually translate to some really important stuff that touches on the "core" of the Twilight series, was that ever revealed or deciphered?

That translation is straight up bullshit. It's not even a mistranslation, they just made it up. The description say it's an artificial/fictional language (造語), it does not say "onomatopoeia" (擬音語) anywhere.

They've also talked about the secret meaning of the lyrics in interviews and its importance is why Maria Origin is used in Shallie.

>>
>>3262495
Jesus Christ. I didn't know the translation was that bad. Did they fuck up the localization anywhere else besides naming Hanna (Fauna?) from Meruru?
>>

I play them in Japanese so I don't have any real examples, but from what I've seen over the years the Atelier translations all look machine translation tier.

That one for Maria is particularly bad, though, what does the English version say? The Japanese description straight up says the lyrics have meaning to them which would contradict them being called onomatopoeia.

>>
IMO, Ryza games are WAY more fun if you do only minimal (aka throw whatever in the cauldron) crafting and fight bosses with crap gear. This way it's kind of like playing DQ11 on Draconian. Otherwise the games are just too shallow and the story is K-On tier brainrot.
>>
>>3276108
It got too tedious for me even halfway through so I dropped it. To be completely optimal you want each alchemist making 10 different items each week and due to poor UI you constantly have to keep checking your item storage to see if you actually have enough item income to support your crafting. Then after you finally make all your items plans and progress a week you unlock better selling recipes and you need to do it all over again. Even worse is that some items can take up to 5 weeks to make since they require other crafted items, which require other crafted items etc. and you can't use items as material in the same week that you craft them.

I have a few questions about the Atelier gacha. How jewish is it, are there any gameplay videos of it, and how would a non-japanese person go about playing it?
>>
>>3279715
>How jewish is it,
You have to get 10 of the same character to max them, with extremely low gacha rates, almost no free gacha rolls, and ridiculous prices on the gacha ($60 per 10 roll which is double the price of most gacha games)

The game's also right now in the process of being bashed by the fanbase because they keep introducing new characters who are millions of times stronger than all the previous ones (the latest being Lyddie and Suelle)

That isn't really an issue since you already get 6 shards x 5 characters on the second shard quest difficulty per day. I assume on the third it is 9 per character but I'm not strong enough for it yet.

Atelier is the goyslop of JRPGs
>>
>>3281215
Nah, it's nowhere as blatant of a cashcow as Yakuza and Trails. Atelier games have a decent amount of variety, especially pre-Ryza, each game had a new protagonist, all new areas, unique gameplay mechanics etc. But the 3 Ryza games are pretty samey, yeah.
>>
>>3281212
The only question that matters: is it fun?
>>
>>3281223
shit, i didn't even register yakuza being a jrpg series
>>
Zero interest in gacha shit, but I played the Dusk trilogy as my first Atelier earlier this year and loved them, and just started Sophie now. After the Mysterious trilogy, will probably go back to the Arland games the next time I wanna play more
>>
>>3281968
Dusk is honestly the weakest subseries in Atelier. Ayesha is okay but Escha & Logy is jank even by Atelier standards and Shallie has bad alchemy, shitty progression flags, jank bugs and no ending to boot.

And you played the DX version right? Keep in mind that the original release straight up didn't have Ayesha or Logy in it. At all. Or the (still unsatisfying but not as bad) ending.
>>

Arland 1-3 are the most Atelier-like of the modern games.

Dusk 1-2 are close but simplified a lot, Dusk 3 and Mysterious 1/3/4 and Arland 4 and Ryza all attempt to turn the series into conventional RPGs with varying levels of success. Mysterious 2 is just weird.

Arland 1-3 are balanced so that you have to actually figure out the damn alchemy and do it right to get the true ending, and have tons of endings so that even if you don't get the true ending you'll get AN ending and then do another playthrough to try again. That's how it's supposed to be.
>>
>>3282478
>if you don't get the true ending you'll get AN ending
I only played the Arland games, do the rest of them not have different endings?
>>
>>3282456
I beat the entire Dusk trilogy already, Ayesha is my favorite overall but I thought the crafting got more addicting with each entry. Didn't encounter any bugs in Shallie and didn't ever have trouble progressing, and what do you mean no ending? The water crisis got a bandaid, and Stera secured water for her village, those were the main goals of the game. Because they long term viability of the solution is unclear? That was kind of the point, ecosystems are incredibly complex and its difficult to know or understand how human actions will affect it long term until we just do it and wait. Because the Dusk itself wasn't solved? That doesn't seem like an easy thing to do an outside the scope of the story, maybe that aspect could be handled more in a Dusk 4/Ayesha 2, though even then solving it completely in one more game would feel a little cheap.

Liking Sophie so far, though the Dusk setting was really cool and I'm worried more generic settings won't have as much an impact for me.

Haven't played Dusk, but the Sophie and Ryza games only have one ending each. Firis, L&S and Lulua have multiple, although you can trigger them all in a single playthrough, you just reload, pick a different dialog option (provided you've fulfilled the requirements) and watch a different ending.

is lydia&suelle any good or should I skip, i grabbed firis and Sophie 2 but my buddy said L&S was mid

>>3283466
How so? L&S is second best in Mysterious saga imo
>>
>>3283473
Just said it didn't grab his attention as much, not really sure why. Gonna do firis next then maybe start dusk
>>
>>3283466
Sophie 2 is shit, it's literally just Ryza 2 but with Sophie and a cast of people who don't matter. L&S is a million times better than it.
>>
>>3283536
sophie 2 has a good combat system instead of a shit like the ryza series has
>>
>>3283466
L&S, Lulua and Sophie 2 are generally considered the best Atelier games. Firis is very divisive due to the open world, a time limit and the need to "level up" your recipes. But I don't recommend skipping Firis either as she's one of the main characters in L&S and the game references literally everything that happened in Firis.
>>
>>3283795
Firis is weird. I hated it the first time I played it, but once you understand how the time limit actually works (i.e. that you can do everything and still have like 100+ days left) and ignore it it's actually pretty good.

I personally really liked the long journey aspect of it. The fake time limit was really detrimental to that game. The game would've been better off without it, having a destination is enough of a goal.
>>
I'm still fucking mad that they made a gacha game.
>>
>>3283466
Your buddy is a fucking retard, L&S is straight up the best game in the entire Atelier series.
>>
What makes L&S so good? I'm playing through it now and it's not any better than Rorona.
>>
>>3283795
>Sophie 2
This is the first time I've ever heard someone call Sophie 2 "one of the best"
>>
>>3282801
>Lulua 50% off
>same as Ryza 2

>>
>>3284514
The story sucked dick, but the gameplay (both combat and synthesis) are absolutely the best in the series, this is a very common take.
>>
>>3284514
I can understand someone saying that because looking at it subjectively it's the most polished system-wise, I'd say it's even better than Ryza 3 there.

But it's fucking dog shit because we finally get a fourth Mysterious game yet it's basically a fucking Shonen Jump movie taking place on non-canon movie island where none of the events or characters fucking matter because it's detached from the actual series, and even worse they place it before the sequels so none of the fucking sequel characters show up.

What was the fucking point of that? If you're going to call it Sophie 2 why not at the BARE FUCKING MINIMUM bring back characters from Sophie 1 who got shafted in the sequels? She's fucking canonically with Oscar at this point in time too but they just kick him out with a haphazard "oh yeah we got split up who cares".

It's so goddamn frustrating, the only way a person could enjoy this game is by it being a fucking secondary for whom this is the first Mysterious game.

I just cleared the Dusk trilogy (DX) and wow Shallie is atrocious. And this is AFTER they fixed a bunch of problems with the Plus version?

Why did they remove a ton of UI elements that were in E&L like being able to tell what properties apply to what kind of items?

>Have to go to another fucking continent just to buy items from Harry

>Okay once you're at the ass end of the game you can craft a teleporter to teleport to Harry's village

>But it replaces the bottom option on quick travel so you keep accidentally hitting it with muscle memory when you try to go to world map

Why the fuck?

>Go to the water ruler's place in the eastern continent
>Wilbell chickens out and runs away
>Green Shallie chases after her
>Screen transition
>Green Shallie catches up with Wilbell IN STELLARD?

Did Wilbell and green Shallie run TO ANOTHER FUCKING CONTINENT?

>Cannot remove hats, if you equip a hat on someone who already has a hat they get two hats clipping together

Ayesha and E&L didn't have this problem and also let you remove the hats, why the fuck is this a thing in Shallie?

>Shallie x2 talk to Keith and suddenly tell him about Flameu and the seed when I've never seen them ever hear about Flameu
>NEXT CHAPTER they talk to Escha at her store and see the seed for the first time and learn about Flameu
>THE FOLLOWING CHAPTER they see Escha reading some books and wonder what that seed she's holding is

What the fuck?
I also felt that synthesis and combat were just straight up just not as fun or fulfilling as E&L's

Man what a goddamn fucking mess

>>3207520
They didn't solve shit. They solved the water problem in that region alone but Keith literally says multiple times that the problem is bigger than just that. The water problem has nothing to do with stuff like the massive wastelands to the west you see in Awin's questline conclusion in E&L.
>>
>>3287634
>>Cannot remove hats, if you equip a hat on someone who already has a hat they get two hats clipping together
Forgot an important detail
>also 8/10 characters have hats
>one of two remaining cannot equip hats
>the last one is Logy who looks retarded in all the hats because they're made for the girls
Why even bother putting the hats in at this point? Plus a bunch of the hats are just carried over from previous ones and are supposed to match certain costumes, but they didn't bother bringing the fucking costumes over.

Is the "Tetris" (grid) style of alchemy standard across the entire franchise? I actually prefer Ryza's "loop" (node) system, to the point that the grid feels clunky and restrictive in (e.g.) Sophie's games.
>>
>>3288636
>Is the "Tetris" (grid) style of alchemy standard across the entire franchise?
No, it's exclusive to the Mysterious games. Generally speaking, each sub-series has its own alchemy and combat mechanics.
>>
Is there any kind of save data transfer between the Ryza games? I have 1 on Switch but I'll probably want to get 2 and 3 on something else, just for better performance.
>>
>>3290499
There are some bonuses for having saves from the other games, but it's not really a big deal.
>>
>>3290499
The only thing you get that matters is costumes
You get costumes from Blue Reflection and Sophie 2 saves too
