>>3061289For Grandia 2 by itself, it's fine. It's pretty much identical to the OG Dreamcast version, just with an option to make the game slightly more difficult. There are a couple of areas that have significiant slowdown, which was a problem in the DC version, and was ported over without a fix.However, the HD remaster also contains Grandia 1 as well, which it completely wrecked with a smoothing filter that is ugly as sin. It functions fine, but you're better off emulating the Saturn version with a language patch.

To be fair, the writing starts taking massive hits at around Cyrum Kingdom and it's just unfortunate because Mirumu Village is excellent and if this were a game full of moments like in Mirumu the game would've been legendary.

It's actually St. Heim right before that where the story gets a colossal plot hole blown into it, which one of the most structurally important points (the quest for the Granasaber being given and accepted) is riding on. After that the story just never recovers.

I can sort of get why millennia's decision to go along with it doesn't make a lot of sense unless you assume she was confident she could take over elena whenever she wanted, but ryuudo and mareg have a clear goal in tracking melfice that can only benefit from undergoing the quest, while roan already got what he wanted and would end up leaving in the next stop anyway.Cyrum kingdom is the place where the writing falls apart although there are still some very good story sections until the end, like the birthplace of the gods.>>3060637He and melfice have the best english voice acting in the game, which is saying something considering how good the entire cast was.Personality, backstory and gameplay are all good, the only thing that is missing is the meaning behind him being a geohound because apparently he is the only one still active in the entire world.
the grandia remasters are on sale... should I get them? never played them before so im not sure if they're a good way to get into the series
