Don't forget to get alll-mer affinity from prying (killing the crucified man works as a pray, you need 3 to get an affinity level) and then put the first soul stone you find (kill those two priests near the sacrificial altar in the torture chamber) into learning the blood portal. Also there's torches in the mines attached to the walls, you can collect them (you're probably know that already, but I'm saying this just in case). When I've just started playing the game, I didn't know you can take them, same with the flags.
