RPGs with an emphasis on travelling in mechanics? Can be either Western or Japanese.
>>2925798>Can be either Western or JapaneseDamn, I was going to tell you about an awesome Chinese RPG where you travel in caravan and ford rivers.
>>2925798Have you played The Oregon Trail?
>>2925798Still waiting for someone to make a CRPG based on the Ryuutama ruleset.>>2925820Guess he saved you some typing, then.>>2925929Who hasn't? It's not an RPG, though.
>>2925798Modded Daggerfall Unity
>>2925798Outward is all about traveling, if by traveling you mean "running endlessly through repetitive plains"
Dragon Quest Monsters: Caravan Heart
>>2926476How did he save me typing? The title is shorter than the post I made.
>>2925798Crystal Project has a fuckton of platforming and nonlinear exploration
>>2926584That's not traveling, also it's a horribly shitty mechanic.
>>2926584lol, i respect your persistence.
>>2926554Just give us the damn title already
>>2925798Baldur's Gate 1. Most of the game is wandering through the wilderness and you have to stop to camp or your party gets tired.
>>2925820Fucking SAY IT, I'm curious
>>2925798Realms of Arkania: Blade of Destiny (the 90s one, not remake)
>>2926476>Still waiting for someone to make a CRPG based on the Ryuutama rulesetIsn't it just one of those systems where you roll D4 for things you suck at, D6 for things you're okay at and a D8 for things you're good at?
>>2928437Sounds like Savage Worlds. Really good if you don't wanna think too much, but probably wouldn't land well in a video game.
>>2925798Book of Travels soonish
>>2925798Nothing is more comfy than roaming around in the wilderness of>Gothic 2>Dragons Dogma>Baldurs Gate 1
>>2926486>Modded Daggerfall Unitywhich mods
>>2926839>>2927568It would be off-topic and bad manners.
>>2928521>dragons dogmaBoy I sure do love walking around a giant empty world and stopping every 10 seconds to recharge my stamina The open world is the worst part of that game by a mile
Does the overworld cartography stuff in Etrian Odyssey 3 and 4 count?>>2928557I am going to say curse words if you don't tell us
>>2929225havent played them, how does it work?
Outward makes a big deal out of making travel a huge pain. You need supplies, proper clothing and periodic rests or you get sick and die. It's a shit clunky game but they tried hard with that shit.
>>2925798Uncharted Waters
Death Stranding
>>2925798Is Freespace considered an RPG?
>>2930409Well in 3 you have very, very limited turns to move, and you use the touchscreen to map out the southern and northern oceans. The entire thing is a puzzle where you have to reach certain spots within X turns, and as you progress you get more turns and sails that grant double movement and so on.In 4, you have an airship. Though movement is unlimited, the map is littered with FOEs (Field-On Enemy, Fucking Overpowered Enemy, w/e, symbol encounter gimmick the series is known for) and finding a path around them or utilizing them is part of the progression. Unlike in 3 it's mandatory as it's how you reach new dungeons.
