Now, the 2nd game can be very fun with co-op. (Mostly because it keeps your attention off of the awful dialogue, story, and equally awful characters.) BUT I still feels like it suffers from what I call "Gotcha" mechanics like in the first game. Got through 6 hours but sold some unimportant-looking item early on for gold?GOTCHA! RESTART! IT WAS CRUCIAL TO THE MAIN QUEST!Played 10 hours learning your class just to get stone-walled by a fight and read online that your class is a meme/useless?GOTCHA! RESTART!I hate re-playing the exact same section more than a few times and I swear to christ I've played the intro of these first two games 7-8 times now. Maybe it was much better in German, but in English a lot of it's aggressively wooden, with intensely over the top VA trying and failing to bring some life into it. 2. The god-awful pacing. Many stretches of story take way, way, way too long (often due to acting as framing for the game's admittedly great but quite time-consuming combat) only to have no pay off whatsoever, other times you have a dozen twists and turns dropped on top of you in 10 minutes with no foreshadowing and little explanation. Think of the bit where we get Lady Vengeance. You just spend multiple hours trying to escape Fort Joy and dealing with Alexander and gearing up for this running to freedom from under the heel of Magisters and then SUDDENLY yeah Alexander doesn't matter any more FIGHT THIS WORM OUTTA NOWHERE and SUDDENLY Alexander matters even less and it's all Dallis from now on and SUDDELY Malady and she's in charge somehow and we need to teleport there somewhere and go do the thing for a completely new reason that also sprang right outta writer's ass. And it stays that way through the entire game. 3. The all-over-the-place tone. The game constantly jitters between light-hearted fairytale and FATE OF THE WORLDS CONCENTRATION CAMPS FOR RACIAL MASS GENOCIDE MILLENNIA OF GUILT, in a jarring way. Pick a line and stick with it, I'd be all for panty jokes if the story did not spend last hours trying to make us take it seriously with harrowing dread of horror. When people bitch about "reddit humor" it's mostly this. Not jokes themselves, but them having awful placement. 5. Lack of coherence. Whether different plots are written well or poorly, NONE OF THEM WORK TOGETHER. They have no logical or thematic synergy and instead just clash painfully, despite frequently overlapping. It's like people who wrote them maintained zero intercommunication.

I really liked the combat, but it did not stick in my memory half as well as how fed up I was with Malady, Tarquin, Gareth, Siva, the Mother Tree, the Shadow Prince, the Sallow Man and Sadha.The closest impression I got of them is an inept ego-centric DM running a railroad campaign where her blatantly panders to egos of his characters a bit and then makes them into an audience for his one-man show of a story involving mostly his own characters he wrote by himself, for himself, and then gets pissy when "the audience" fails to appreciate his efforts.

It’s fun in co-op for a few hours, though figuring out the effect combinations needed for boss fights can take all night (trolls). At the same time, hub areas are too chaotic. By everyone moving around at the same time, everyone will grab different story threads which then need to be related to the rest of the party and then the actual journal instructions are EXTREMELY vague.Also, loot system is horrendous, the writing is terrible, and single player is a nightmare.

Go north to Bloodmoon bridge and use jump skill to get across speak to Demon for second source channel and steal level 15 armor from vendor. Go east to the Succubus and escort via north path to skip any fights, get third source channel. Go to Lizard and get vampirism and see undead right away since your source is maxed. Go to Lone Wolf camp use see dead for quest that gets you level 15 shield. Go to Bloodmoon to do library quest for another truckload of xp. With the exploration xp you should have leveled up around 5 times now and have good gear without a single fight. You can pick up more unique gear from the hidden chests.
Larian humor worked in Dragon Commander and Ego Dragonis because of the overall comfy eurojank feel. Not so much in these supposedly serious CRPG games

Look up a build guide, the game only lets you respec stat attributes but not the actual skills which cost a fuck ton of money. Pickpocket every NPC you see, money is everything in this game. Also, before moving to a new act, kill every single NPC on the island and loot their items/money.
