Should I make another gacha game for the next jam
>>
>>2583313
I was thinking of making a gacha game. We could have 2 gacha games.
>>
>>2583313

I've noticed everything in 2k3 is displayed at 2x zoom, pictures included
perfectly fine for sprites but trying to display a pictures at 50% zoom terribly compresses them
is there a way to (script or not) show them with their natural size intact?
bonus points if anyone spoonfeeds me a script for game resolution changing
>>
>>2583591
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but that isn't true. The regular resolution of 2k3 is 320 x 240 and if you open video options with F4 you'll see that the game is default set to 2x resolution rather than 1x.
>>
>>2583597
forgive me for the poor wording but I was aware of the default x2
however I did not know about the options menu and how you could "change" the displayed resolution
I guess the main problem I have is the natural resolution being so limiting (hence me asking about a script to properly increase it, rather than using the built-in option to just zoom the game window)
>>
>>2583648
Maniacs patch allows you to modify resolution BUT you need to have the steam version with all the updates for it.

>>2583648
You can definitely increase the resolution as >>2583814 says using the Maniacs Patch, but be prepared to deal with all of the other things that come with that change. Most of the default systems like menus and battle are going to be stuck at default no matter what you do. Even figuring out how to get the text to display properly is going to take some effort, and the event code required to do it isn't the stuff you're going to be used to, nor is it well-documented (even in Japanese).
Pretty cool stuff if you're looking to make a game seem like it was made for a system that uses a specific resolution though (usually lower, like 160x144 (GBC) or 240x160 (GBA) etc)

Anyone have any good resources on how to make music?

When I make my own music, I use Musescore. It has spyware in it so use a firewall to block outgoing connections. Otherwise, use Finale which you can pirate for free. If you mean how to learn to make music in general, well, I'd start with basic music theory and learning to play a piano. I don't have resources for that because I learned irl so maybe look for a cheap tutor or take community college classes. Alternatively, look at the curriculum music theory classes uses (their books, videos) then find them yourself for free. I'd also take ear training so you can better understand what you listen to. This will help with trying to use pre-made music and adapting it to your own ideas. A good melody goes a long way in video games, especially if it's a repetitive track that gets used a lot. What kind of game you want to make also helps. For RPGs, you have 2 choices: really cool chiptune/rock/italo disco type music (Chrono Trigger) or orchestral (Dragon Quest). There's more to it than that but those are the 2 big types and are very different. Study and listen to 80s/90s pop, dance, techno, rock music for the former, and more formal classical training (probably need an instructor) for the latter. Out of all the RPGs you've played, just pick the one with the best music in your opinion and try and copy it as exactly as possible. After doing so, ask yourself why the song sounds this way or that, then try to take one piece of it and build around it your own music. It will sound cringy and awful at first but everything starts that way.

The only books I've actually used are Jamey Aebersold's jazz improv and the real book in Bb. They don't apply to this much unless you want to make cool jazz music for your games. Oh, speaking of that, if you do, you can pirate software called Band-in-a-box that creates the rhythm section of 100s of different styles and you customize the time signature and chords. It's incredible. Good luck, have fun anon. Nothing wrong using other's music

More than anything in my life, I want a competent pure MIDI editor with a piano roll that is as smooth easy to edit in/use as FL Studio used to be back in like the 2005-2012 era. Playing around with that shit back in the day was fun but even FL Studio itself made the piano roll feel like shit in later iterations. Most of the free/openly available stuff is some manner of monkey paw where it does x thing really well, but sucks at another thing that is game-breaking.
世界樹 is a great program for instance, but has such a miserable editor that I can't imagine actually composing a full-blown track in it.
>>

I throw shit at the wall and see what sticks
>>
>>2583961
I've never used FL studio, is that fruity loops or whatever it was called? Musescore and Finale (there's also Sibelius i think) allow MIDI keyboard hookup so you can compose with that, and you can export as MIDI I think.

apparently an english version is available so it's not like you can't use it
it might help if I downloaded an updated version that wasn't from 2017 too but I doubt that will fix the fundamental flaws with the editor's usability and controls. Apparently it just received a fresh update a few weeks ago. Miraculous that such a program still has active devs even in 2022.

I'm a dummy and didn't see the english section. I'll try it out. Need to look up some of the terms used though, I'm unfamiliar with MIDI sequencing. I'm a sheet music man. Thank you for posting this anon, I can't wait to actually use it.

In terms of software, I use FL Studio. But my music making process is 90% winging it and 10% basic music theory. While not entirely necessary in my opinion, having those basics down definitely makes the process go a lot smoother. Lucky for you, there are plenty of Youtube videos on it. Which ones are good? I can't say (I mostly learned music theory through falling asleep during my high school's band class).

Also, it doesn't hurt to just look up how to create music for whatever genre you're trying to go for. Being derivative is fine so long as you put your own spin on it. I once made a song based around the first search result I got after looking up common jazz chords. Which you can listen to here: https://voca.ro/1cguKYO9paxL
*Note: I changed all the notes to generic piano noises and got rid of all the other shit so you can actually hear what I'm talking about. The original song is an unmixed mess that will blow your ears out.

No matter what the next jam's theme is I'm gonna have a game idea ready to go!
>>
>>2584709
There are three philosophies in game design in my opinion:
>just think about yourself
If you choose this, you're just making a game for you, without considering how others will receive it. It's recommended for beginners (because it removes secondary considerations from the developement proces, allowing you to focus on more basic things first), but if you want to gain larger success, you will have to branch out.
>think of your players as children
While you may not literally think of them as children, here you become "a provider" for your players. You control what they get, but you aim to please them first and foremost.
>think of your players as human cattle
Fun becomes a secondary consideration. The main objective is to create addiction. You first and foremost seek out the most psychologically manipulative methods to get people hooked on your game, and then think of other things.

As a funny little anecdote: if you want to get into mobile game dev, number one goes right out of the window and number three is almost mandatory.

Making CBS is really fun but one thing giving me trouble is the state machine, that is the part of code responsible for jumping between things like choosing an action, to next character, then resolving attacks, then enemy turn, etc.
I've got everything figured out nice and tidy, but this one part is responsible for 90% of bad code in my code.
>>
>>2585915
This is why I gave up on trying to make turn based systems and just went with real time ripping-off-kirby shit
>>
>>2585919
Like it's not hard to set up at a basic level, especially if you toss everything into one place, it's just I'm autistic about where and how I set different stuff.
Normally you just put all the logic in the logic function right? But what about a multi-hit attack? Well then I gotta delay this stuff somehow so it shows up one by one, and how do you divide this workload between logic and view functions? Obviously the logic should call the damage dealing function X times, but how do you know when to call them? Especially since I want logic to be able to operate with view completely thrown out, but then how do I get information that the animation stopped and it can generate the second hit?
Just a pain in the ass if you want to follow the "correct" coding conventions. And it's not like I disagree with them, they have way more pros than cons.
>>
>>2585935
Well the classic method of "try to explain your problem in simple terms, and you'll find the solution" works as always.
>calculate all the hits at once
>store the results in an array so that the view function can grab them afterwards and play them one by one
>>
>>2585915
this is why I don't use 2k or 2k3. Eventing is nice for retard like me but it's too limiting sometimes.
>>
>>2585935
>>2585939
This is among the correct responses to this issue.
The thing about CBS (and any custom system) is that if you start by building it smart in the first place, everything you do should piggyback your basic framework, and adding features to it will theoretically be infinite.
For example, if I want to add a function to my damage calculation phase of an attack (such as checking/applying modifiers based on weakness and resistance) I can just... add it in right at the point of damage calculation. Or rather than trying to manage buffs/debuffs by literally adding stats to an actor/foe (harder to track and deal with imo) I can just apply stat mod at the point of damage calculation as well. All you're doing is pointing around to relevant parts of your actor/enemy arrays to grab data, then acting on it.
It all sounds really complicated, but one of the most important parts of getting something like this to work is that it should be simple.
>Who is acting now? (point to their section of your variable array for stat grabbing/etc)
>Who is being targeted now? (point to their section of your variable array for stat grabbing/etc)
Depending on your exact battle system and intent, the precise way you go about dealing with all of this will surely change. But if you can establish these two things as a baseline, you can pretty much do whatever you want. Your code can be infinitely re-usable.
>>
>>2586012
As a simpler example, let's use an item menu to demonstrate this.
What is an item menu at its core?
>A series of values that says "which item?" (1=potion, 2=mana potion, 3=phoenix down, etc)
>A series of values that says "how many?"
If you have these two things, you can do a lot of work with them.
Let's say your "item storage area" is a variable array that starts at \v[101], and your data is stored in 2 variables like so
>\v[XX1]=Item ID
>\v[XX2]=Item Quantity
You might have a space that looks like
>101 = 1 (potion)
>102 = 4 (4 of them)
>103 = 3 (phoenix down)
>104 = 2 (2 of them)
>105 = 0 (nothing, empty slot)
>106 = 0 ("")
>107 = 44 (Huge Titty Shield)
>108 = 1 (1 of them)
>1xx... = 0...0
Great, but how do we do something with this?
Well, let's say you have a cursor. What does a cursor do? Literally, it points at something. We can use this to our advantage. Let's say that the up/down arrow keys "point" the cursor to the next Item slot? You just +2 or -2 right? Cool. While you're at it, why not check what item you're pointing at? Set up a new variable to check the value of the variable you're pointing at.
What happens if we push the Enter key? Well, that changes depending on the item your cursor is pointing at, right?
>If ENTER key is pushed
>>If Item = 0, do nothing, play buzzer sound
>>If Item = 1, do this
>>If Item = 2, do this
>>If Item = 3, do this
Cool.
Wait, I want to show a picture of text that says what an item does too.
Great, we're already checking what item we're pointing at, so why not throw in a show picture command that does exactly this based on the value of the item being pointed at? Just make sure that if the value = 0, erase the pic layer so it doesn't keep showing it.
>>
>>2586038
What if you get a new item and want it to land in that item section? Depends on how your item system works, but let's say that we want your newly acquired item to end up in the "next available" empty slot between your phoenix down and your titty shield?
>Point to 101
>Check to see if it has an item in there
>If it does, +2 to pointer, check again
>If it doesn't (0), copy the value of the newly found item to that 0
>then advance pointer +1, put the amount of the item you found in there, end process
boom

>>
>>2586012
Yeah, you can throw everything in one place and it works. It's not "correct" to do so, but the thing is, it depends on the complexity. Whenever writing code for a project, it should be as complex as whatever you're making. Simple code in your dream game that you spend years making will give you so much trouble, or make it an unplayable buggy mess (see Yandere Sim, if/else statements are fine, but not in a game of that scale). But if it's a jam game you spend 1-2 weeks on and never touch again, just toss everything in one place and don't look back because it won't give you issues few months later.

I'm using Godot and writing the combat system with MVC pattern, which stands for Model View Controller (fancy words for Logic, Output and Input respectively), because it works really well for what I'm trying to do.
The idea of this is that you basically separate the three parts from each other, so you have Controller code reading what the user does and calling respective functions in Model, which does stuff like calculating damage and checking who died, and passes that to View
What's the point of this split? It helps keep things clean first of all, you know where to find stuff responsible for each of these three. Then you can just delete the View and Controller, and Model still works on its own because it's separate, great if you want to make either from scratch, or have some dev commands or devmenu not available in full game. And also whenever you try to change something, since all three work in their own little bubbles, there's much less errors to fix in general.

But again, this is because I'm working from scratch. RPGM already splits input/output from the combat code, it's really simple in there (and in Unite when that comes out)

Do people actually think that making custom code in RPGM Unite will somehow be easier than in previous versions? That's the vibe I'm getting from the delusional fanboys on the internets. Spoilers: C# is a more complex language than JS or Ruby and there's literally nothing stopping you from inputting whatever you want into the code right now.
Or is this all just "I will totally start my project when the NEXT version hits" -cope?
>>
>>2587070
I think the hope is that the base engine will have more options, but I don't know that that'll be the case. IDK man, if it's unity-based isn't that basically just as plug and play as RPGM?

i tried making an FGO card battle system for the last jam but gave up when i realized how much work it'd be. it's also way more intricate than it looks, but that mostly is owed to the sheer number of characters and skills in it. and yeah, old servants get "rank up quests" that help modernize them all the time. one of the main things praised about the game is that lower-rarity servants can still be pretty useful if you invest in them, so you don't really need a full team of SSRs to clear stuff. but i digress

>Your irl friends know about your jam games?
some of them played the first few but beyond that they ignore em. which is fine, but it feels really awkward when they ask what i'm doing and i bring up that i'm working on a new game and they have to dance around the fact that they've been "so sorry. too busy. sorry" for more than a year now kek

last post i'll make bitching about this but i just kind of always thought that since i support their projects (buying their books, shirts, comics, etc) i figured they'd be willing to give my work a go once i got into creating but ah well. it's too high concept for those bastards anyway.

the idea of my folks playing my games is funny, but i don't think they'd get too far anyway. i remember being a little kid playing ff7 in front of my dad and he'd make fun of how the combat looked kek

Unity has blueprints. Nuff said.
>>
>character is new to town
>NPC shows him around
>this is also so the player gets an idea where things are before they start going around interacting with things
I wanted to let the player follow the NPC out of their own volition, giving them the option to fuck off too and wander about their own. But I am wondering if that is just not wasted effort and I should instead make it a quick succession of cutscenes to get it over with and don't risk the player getting lost.
>>
>>2588553
This sort of thing is based and should absolutely be done.
>track how many things that aren't following the NPC the player does
>after a set number, if the player doesn't arrive at the next intended location, NPC appears and chews the player out, dragging them to the intended location
Problem solved, soul added.

I drew at a higher resolution for my other games and then downsized the sprites in Photoshop, but for Lotus Eater I made the sprites at 320x240 (the default resolution of RPGM2k/2k3 games) and just did all the color indexing crap in Photoshop. You should probably draw your character expressions on a separate layer from everything else.

I don't wanna sound like a shill, but wouldn't it be better to invest time in Unity, with new RPGM around the corner?
At the end of the day both are about equally good, but I do see more benefit in learning Unity.

But on second thought, going from Godot to Unity or vice versa is trivial once you know how this stuff works, since it's all the same. So starting with Godot, if you plan on trying Unite later, will give you a good grasp on differences between the two and help choose the one you like more.

Not quite that complicated. Start with something manageable like implementing the tank-like controls you're after, and then imagine a separate event that you have to call with every single step that is taken to scan the terrain around the player, and display the correct images to reflect the current area within viewing distance.
This event might (and most likely) would call an individual event responsible for handling each possible "section" so you can keep things organized.
It's worth playing around with photoshop or whatever to get a feel for how you will need to layer this since doing it in the wrong order will just cause you headaches.

VX Ace used to be the go-to, but MV has had the time to get a lot of resources for it as well, so now it's either one of those, you can't go wrong with either, though honestly anything from 2000 to MV is pretty nice except normal VX, don't go for that one, VX Ace is better.

Depends what you want to make.
It takes "longer" to learn and make something than RPGM for sure, but we're definitely not talking years of time. The biggest problem is the "soft reset", since you go from effortlessly throwing things together with all the tools you're given, to having to make half of the tools yourself, and not being good at it at first.

There's a couple tutorials on Unity Learn for 2D RPGs (two 1-2 hour ones, and one 10+ hour), which will run you through almost everything, except combat (and some boring things like main menu and saving and options etc).

And the combat is arguably the hardest part to make, due to all the stuff that is going on (numbers, buffs and effects, enemy AI, all of the UI stuff and a lot more).
There's a criminal lack of tutorials in this regard, and the ones that exist are massive copouts that only cover the bare basics. You'll pretty much have to watch guides made for Unity, Godot and Unreal, take note of how they build and structure the systems, and try to build it yourself (reading a book on C# will help with the technical challenges)

Depending on how complex you want to make it, you could spend few hours on a simple one, or months learning in-depth C# functions and tricks to make a really deep one.
Again, best advice would be to make something really simple, purely text-based even, then go more complex. Make a basic "2 guys dealing 1 damage to each other every turn", then give the bad guy more health, and then implement a feature to make the fight winnable, repeat until it's fun.

If you don't want to go turn-cringe though, there's a shitload of resources for basically anything, and it's a lot easier and arguably more rewarding.

Tutorials I mentioned
https://learn.unity.com/project/creator-kit-rpg
https://learn.unity.com/project/2d-roguelike-tutorial - few years out of date but still good for understanding logic
https://learn.unity.com/project/ruby-s-2d-rpg - the long one

Is there a way in MV to make the turn system like the action bar of final fantasy X? I like the idea of ATB because it gives the speed stat more weight, but waiting for the bar to fill and having the enemies load and instantly select their turns really breaks the deal to me

If I can implement it in 2k3, you can make it happen in MV. Pretty sure that if you can't into coding it yourself, there's most likely a plugin that adds this sort of functionality.
Not like the logic for it is particularly complex anyway
>Get AGI values of all actors/store them to temp variables for turn calc use
>+1 to those variables in a loop
>Conditionals whenever they reach an arbitrary value trigger x actor's turn processing phase
If anything, ATB/CTB style is simpler than the traditional turn-based all-at-once formula since you avoid having to account for stuff like targeting correction if the intended target is no longer alive/an eligible target at action execution time, action invalidation in the event an actor dies before they get to act, and so forth.

If Jet and Emelia Went on a Triple Date
"Emelia, it's time to celibrate our 50th time having sex."
"Aw, Jetty!" The brunette girl hugged the robot's cold, steel arm, "But how are we gonna celibrate having our 50th sex?"
"Why look no further than over there, beep boop!"
Jet is pointing to an emo guy getting his cock sucked by an emo girl in broad daylight.
"Damn shawty, ok!" Ian hollered.
"Hmph." Emelia cupped her chin, "Don't know about that one, Jetty. Celebratin' sex with sex would spoil it."
"Then why don't we do what they're doing?"
The robot points over to two girls, one blue haired and the other red haired. Between their legs, purple hair because they were scissoring.
"Wow Bronwyn it's great that Sleepy Hill allows people to have sex in broad daylight now that Sir Bright became based."
"Right? They should change the name to Sexy Hill."

Nope, no webdev required. Just Javascript, and and even then you don't need to know a whole lot (I don't even know Javascript and I can tweak some plugins here and there. Just had to google the syntax)
Unless you're creating new UI, you can do a lot with just Call Script commands. If you're using MV or MZ, bookmark this page:

Can the jam maker see how many downloads a game gets?
I was thinking of making a competition for a 100$ amazon gift card.
The person with most downloads a week after jam ends would win.
The games would have to stay in theme.
All submissions would be invisible until the jam time ends to encourage doing your best instead of slapping together something asap to be the first one.
The winner would need to provide a email they want their 100$ to be sent to.
Is this a good idea?
Im curious what 4chan would make with money on the line.
>>
>>2600421
As a prior organizer, nah, you can't. You can organize entries by most downloads to see what was popular, but also, the number goes up every time the game is downloaded even if the same person DLs it multiple times or even if you DL it yourself.
>>
>>2600421
Firstly I'm not giving you my personal information for a 100 USD giftcard
Secondly measuring by downloads is a lame way to judge because someone can either shill offsite or download their own game multiple times.
Thirdly turning the jam into a competition will spoil the community here. I don't think any of us are trying to compete, just share our work with others.

I'm not against having the games get reviewed (I get excited over feedback even if it's negative) but I think making a contest out of them would be really bad. Ojosama blows my art out of the water, Goburinbro's a god at 2k3. I'll never be as funny as Iowacorn. The list goes on. Check out f95 then come back and say that again. Actual asset rip, borderline illegal renpy trash gets hundreds of $ or more and the only reason devs get away with it is because they live in an eastern euro country and their patrons are middle-upper class Indians. I don't care about copyright at all but there's no passion for 95% of any game made outside of Japan. For some reason, the Japanese aren't as lazy and predatory.
I mean, you could rip scenes from your favorite 3D porn, insert them as "endings", and make a shitty jigsaw puzzle or match 3 and probably get a couple hundreds dollars, maybe more if you promise to include more pornstars.

anyone know the logic to make character and certain events stick to the ground like in Lisa? parallel process event that keep moving player down doesn't work.
>>
>>2600730
Dingaling prolly did it by triggering an autorun event when interacting with certain tiles to create the illusion of Brad jumping.
>>
>>2600730
stick to the ground? i don't think there's any need for that. lisa works the same as any other rpg maker game: there are tiles where brad can go, and tiles where he can't. it's not a matter of physics, or the dev having programmed in gravity. it's merely programmed that if you walk off a cliff, brad does a movement where he goes through:on and jumps to the bottom of the screen, then the game ends. for the bike jumps, it's not gravity, it's just that if you walk off a cliff while on the bike, brad does a pre-specified jump across the gap (or off the cliff, if that's what you do).
>>
>>2600730
You can just make invisible events that block movement and then make a parallel event that moves the block with the player.
>>
>>2600689
I like it.

Can RPG Maker be used to make more open ended RPGs? Ones with more choices similar to a classic cRPG?
>>
>>2600870
sure
>>
>>2600421
Your intentions are good. It's your money, you decide who deserves the gift card. I just think it would be easier to pay 100$ for the game, on itch.io itself.
>>
I legit want a jam theme that pushes RPG way past its limit, to actually force people to go Godot or Unity.
Like a Diablo clone or somehing
>>
>>2600937
*RPG Maker past its limit

Also give it 2-3 month deadline under pretense of how much work it'd take to do in Javascript, but it's actually to give us time to learn the new engine

Would this general be appropriate for sharing RPG Maker adjacent stuff, like music and art etc.? Might be nice to also give theme ideas for these things for anons to contribute to, like a small jam, but for music, art, assets etc.
>Music/Art Jam Theme: Ice Caverns
for example, and anons can contribute fitting music/art for the setting. Maybe even stuff other anons could use in other full jams (if the creator is ok with that obviously). Thought it might be a nice idea to involve more people who are not solo devs and give everyone something to practice inbetween jams. Pic unrelated.

Wow, these genuinely look like shit. Why would you bother? If you want something 3D like that, don't use RPGM.

It's all done with plugins. 3DMV and others.
>>
>>2601114
>>2601123
At this point, you're barely using the tools that RPG Maker gives you, that are supposed to make things easier.
It's cool as a proof of concept, but anything more is just counter-productive.
>>
>>2583298
Didnt know rpg maker maps could look like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jw_ba8mJETA
>>
>>2601153
It's pretty much two images imported, and no-go zones added on top of them.
You can do anything in RPG Maker if you can think outside the box.
>>
>>2601156
then why do all games made in rpg maker look the same?
>>
>>2601168
Do you know why rpg maker is the probably the easiest game engine ever? It has a complete default asset.
>>
>>2601114
>someone recreated daggerfall in rpg maker
nice
>>
>>2601168
Children and mouthbreathers do not want to think outside the box. They want to make a game NOW and RPGM sells itself on that concept. Also, if you watched that Mistia video of someone doing the parallax mapping, look how fucking long it took to do one map - and that was sped up, too. Even with using a lot of default assets, it takes a lot of time to get them looking nice and consistent. Why bother when you can just bang a map out in half the time using just defaults, no image editing software or artistic experience required?
>>
>>2601168
Because RPG Maker is a niche. Try to make something with those graphics, you will get a bunch of "cool" comments from people who are starting with RPG Maker and that is it. RPG Maker community won't give a shit. Try to make a game without pron, horror, or le quirky earthbound ripoff, if you fail as well.
>>
>>2601168
Because rpgmaker is made for retards that cant draw or code thats the entire point of the program so even the most retarded person can slap together a shitty game out of premade assets and maybe make a unique sprite for the main character or something(optional).
>>
>>2601168
Do they have to look different?
>>
>>2601204
Isekai animes are very successful despite all of them being basicly the same anime except for the girls in the main characters party(whos a bland looking incel with medium lenght dark hair until he travels to another world and becomes the worlds strongest so people watching can self insert) so clearly things dont have to be unique to be successful but i think its a bit boring personally.

Both yesdevs and nodevs, but particularly the latter, have this shared zeitgeist where the thought that "rpg maker gaem no real gaem" reigns supreme. For the last 100-ish posts, this thread has been taken over by that sentiment. Even people that have renounced those words still can't get completely rid of it. The talk of graphics is merely a symptom of it. Give in to it and the next step is Unityfags storming right in.

There should be 4 major jams a year:

>boreas, zephyrus, notus, eurus
>>
>>2601656
w-what would an Aeolus jam imply?
>>
>>2601656
I think autumn gets low numbers due to end of year fatigue or something.
>>
>>2601669
Aeolus could be an Odyssey based jam
Also, possibly wincest
>This Aeolus and his family lived on the floating island of Aeolia which was surrounded by a wall of unbreakable bronze and smooth rocks. In order to preserve concord and affection among his children, Aeolus yoked his sons and daughters in matrimony. Being a favorite of the gods, he spent all his days in feasting and banqueting with his wife and children. Luxuries never failed in their happy place.
Boreas
>The Greeks believed that his home was in Thrace, and Herodotus and Pliny both describe a northern land known as Hyperborea "Beyond the North Wind" where people lived in complete happiness and had extraordinarily long lifespans. He is said to have fathered three giant Hyperborean priests of Apollo by Chione.
Zephyrus
>He was said to be the husband of Iris, goddess of the rainbow. He abducted the goddess Chloris, and gave her the domain of flowers.
>Additionally, with yet another sister and lover, the harpy Podarge (also known as Celaeno), Zephyrus was said to be the father of Balius and Xanthus, Achilles' horses.
Notus
>He was associated with the desiccating hot wind of the rise of Sirius after midsummer, was thought to bring the storms of late summer and autumn, and was feared as a destroyer of crops.
>>2601676
That's funny because Eurus is also a loser in mythology so I assigned him to autumn anyways out of pity.
>the only one of these four Anemoi not mentioned in Hesiod's Theogony or in the Orphic hymns.
but
>He is referred to as the “savior of Sparta” in a Homeric paean, or poem.

>anyone know the logic to make character and certain events stick to the ground like in Lisa?

Tileset gets setup so that only the left/right movement options are allowed on the walking surfaces. Every other tile blocks player movement entirely. This does most of the work of keeping the player character confined. If you were to make a map filled with walls, then create 1-tile passages through that map... that's what it would look like with the art removed.

As for 'jumping' in a lisa styled RPG, there are two types; button-press to simulate climbing or jumping, and automatic that simulates gravity.
simulated gravity is just an on-touch event that's above an open space in the map (still surrounded by blocking tiles) that switches code page to an autorun which: changes the player's facing and sprite to a falling version, disables collision on the player, moves the player down a number of tiles with a sound effect, plays another sound effect on "impact" at the stopping point and changes the sprite back to normal, then switches code pages on the event back to on-touch to wait for the next activation.

simulated climbing or jumping by active button press can be done in a dynamic way where the player's location is tracked and then compared to player facing and a tile ID the player is either "facing" or touching (or is handled on a per-event basis instead of tile ID) or is done automatically like with the simulated gravity event.
