Time for a new trails thread? I beat the series. How will I ever fill the void this game left. This tune crushes me every time. There must be some other JRPG that I've never played help me anonhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hB-APrkmSdw
>>2243550sorry anon, trals is one of a kind, youll just have to wait till kuro and hajimari like the rest of us
Well, let's review your classics:- Final Fantasy 1-12- Suikoden 1/2/3/5- Lunar 1 and 2- Wild arms- Dragon quests - Chrono Trigger- Persona games- Valkyrie ProfilesTo a lesser extend- Legend of dragoon- Tactics game. Can list if you're interested.- Grandia- Star Oceans- Koudelka- Alundra That's a start I guess
Kuro gave me some hope. Let's hope the sequels are good and Falcom doesn't collapse from shit sales.
I looked up "Valkyrie Profiles" then realized its a mobile game, wtf? but since im too lazy to find a PS2 emulator, I ended up getting Valkyrie Drive: Bhikkhuni but I think its just what I'm looking for
>>2243860Valerie Profile was originally a PS1 game.
>>2243550play them again. i'm currently on my second playthrough on nightmare.
>>2243860As stated before it's a ps1 game first. There was a second one on PS2 probably the best jrpg on the console after ffx. >inb4 rogue galaxyIt sucks
So I'm not sure if this is the right thread to ask, but I'm pretty new to fanbase and I'm seeing some stuff about how NIS censored CS3? After a little bit of digging I couldn't really find anything, what did they change?
>>2244704I kneel>>2245123They changed some lines that were “sexist” but that’s about it iircI think CS4 got off better censorship-wise then 3.
>>2245123They didn't change shit. It was some stupid overreaction thanks to a preview stream where one of the presenters mentioned changing some sexist lines or something, but I think she was kind of full of it.
>>2245123nothing that dramatic reallyin fact the only instance i remember was changing the word loli for something like small package or some stuff like that
>>2245123well the games have occasionally questionable localization choices but it kinda gets blown out of proportion and honestly what game doesn't have bad localization here and there these days
>>2245130>>2245152>>2245153>>2245198That's kind of what I was assuming, I know NIS has censored a bit in the past, but I'm playing through 3 for the first time (currently starting chapter 4) and they left in shit like Shirley groping Duvalie, Angelica in general, and the bikinis for characters like Altina, so I had no idea what else they could've censored.
>>2243550CS4 killed my enjoyment for this series. That ending can't be salvaged by anything.
>>2245123Nothing since nobody has ever been able to point anything specific that was censored.
>>2246259they've never taken anything out of the games that wasn't in the japanese version so far in any trails game, worst they've done is change a line here or there
>link Jusis with Machias, lvl 4>they bitch at each other every other turnSOUL
>>2243809same honestly, the current sales arent great but I wouldnt call them bankruptcy tier yet, not to mention virtual sales javent been mentioned
Just finished CS2 and I'm glad that Celine could eloquently sum up the game for me.Also bringing up 1200 year old curses right at the end, I'm glad that I have an excuse to drop my expectations for the future writing even further (as if the past 2 games didn't do that already) and I half expect D∴G to show up again for the third fucking time and for it to be the reason that Weissmann was really evil all along. And what is it with protagonists in this series crying over antagonists deaths? Joshua and Loewe makes sense since there's history there, but Lloyd crying over Guenter and Rean crying over fucking Vulcan like are you serious?Laura is the best girl, her final bonding event was super cute.
>>2250238Those who dislike CS will dislike the epilogue of CS2. Those who like CS will love the epilogue.>and I half expect D∴G to show up again for the third fucking timeD∴G cult is an important part of the setting and it would be much more stupid to handwave it as a villain from a Saturday show. You will see more of their victims, for example.>and for it to be the reason that Weissmann was really evil all alongNo. The curse amplifies evil thoughts and intentions but does not create them. That is why many people are very resistant while some are very susceptible.>but Lloyd crying over Guenter and Rean crying over fucking Vulcan like are you seriousThat's the tone of the whole series. If you want to have fun, you will better get used to it, however bad that does sound.
>>2250250>Those who like CS will love the epilogue.Sounds about right. I think it's absolutely hilarious that Rean and friends fight the final boss for no reason whatsoever, just because they can, like a bunch of murderhobos, but I've learned to deal with the anime logic by the end of CS1.The way CS2 treats Vulcan's death still makes my head hurt though.
>>2250302The final boss was an excuse for them to do one more thing together before they part ways. I loved it but then I love all Kiseki games and even their flaws are charming to me.
>>2250304Loa is a construct beyond the kids' comprehension, much like the entire dungeon itself, and they just kill it to make happy memories. That's silly and awesome in equal measure.
>>2250304nahh the final boss was pretty kino, if class VII was better written it would have been amazing, shame but it still is pretty cool
>>2250238It sums up the game but not as utterly pointless. The entire game is just exp grinding for the sake of getting stronger and growing them Class VII bonds. >Lloyd crying over GuenterHe's a policeman. Good policemen don't go out hoping to shoot down criminals; they want to capture them and send them to jail for rehabilitation. Lloyd being sad that the criminal overdosed and exploded isn't just sappy goody two shoes protagonist shit like it usually is for Rean. Rean had a few good talks with Vulcan as well so I don't blame him for being a bit disheartened when he realized too late he was participating in assisted suicide.
>>2250477>Good policemen don't go out hoping to shoot down criminalsI mean, Dudley-san is a good policeman and he's carrying around a gun that instakills people.
>>2250480>Dudley a good policemanBah, he wishes he was in the same league as Guy, Lloyd and Sergei. >carrying around a gun that instakills peopleNot sure I get this reference. I did play Zero and Azure but Dudley rode the bench so I don't recall an insta kill craft.
>>2250409Nah, the Infernal Tower already had more and better kino like pic related and using the entire class in the first phase of the last floor boss/dual Knight battle.
>>2250522>Enforcer 01 McBurn, the Blazing DemonIt was kino.
>>2243550why did the music suddenly turn into utter garbage after the second game?
Already done Llyod's game. On to Rean's game haha....
>>2250514It's called Judgement Bullet or some such, I think? Single target, 100% KO in Zero. The chance did get nerfed a fair bit in Azure, but the point stands. Really not something an ordinary policeman would have, though the description mentions that too.
>>2250522>using the entire class>game tries to make me use AlisaHaha, that won't be necessary.>dual Knight battleThat was something else though. Hard to believe they'd bring back combo-crafts for a single fight in the game too. Nevermind that fighting alongside sardine is less practical than just linking with Sara or Fie.
>>2251145Cold Steel 1 is really fucking comfy.
>>2252012Mirstin is my favorite girl alongside Lixia.
>>2251344That rings a bellPerhaps it was a red herring as to who killed Guy; I certainly had my suspicions about Dudley but he wouldn't have been as crazy a twist. >>2251344>game tries to make me use AlisaAcknowledged!>game tries to make me use MachiasI get the sinking feeling that this is going to change our relationship forever Cold Steel II...Stop being so spoiled!
>>2252012I finished CS series a month ago.I miss blasting everything with Emma. She gets even more broken in CS3 and 4 because of her Brave Order and S-Craft. Glad I go straight to all of her bonding events, top comfy and cute.
>>2252229>>2252321It is really fun to blow shit up with arts and I love Palace of Eregion.
>>2252321I wonder if she would be up for an orgy with her elder sister, grandma and a cat.
>>2252446Big Rose or lolibaba?
>>2252495emmas family oozes pure fucking sex
>>2252495Usually, I prefer hags over lolis but Rose is one of the few exceptions. I can't exactly explain why.
>>2252446Don't think so, shes gonna have sex in Astral Form.>>2252511Witches seems to be naturally top tier girls, and theres a whole hidden village of them. I enjoy Eryn more than Ymir, the NPCs are actually helping you there.
>>2252691>the NPCs are actually helping you thereThe antics of Maple and Purple helped me get over my post Crow stress disorder.
>I ain't done yet... but you'll be!What a fucking dork.
>>2250238>laura is best girlcouldnt agree more
>>2257364junie is part of reans harem accept it
>>2257372Harems are for losers though, and Rean is cool.
>>2257372Unfortunatly best girl isn't
>>2258169>have like 20 girls to choose from>the two best girls, Sharon and Aurelia, don't fall for Rean's ogre charmsI say hahabut deep down, I really don't feel haha
>>2258179>Duvalie is DTF>everyone sees that and uses her as a lolcow>Rean doesn't noticePain
Literally me right now.
>>2258179>Claire isn't an option despite falling for himNo hahas here.. only icy tears
>>2258179>>2258551>people actually like Claire and Sharon
>>2258572sharon is hot
>>2258572>people actually like ClaireYes.
>>2258572>Not liking any Trails girls.haha what a fag
>>2258572Claire is growing on me. I am on Cold Steel II.Sharon, I liked at first. I thought her English VA was funny. I feel like she will slowly grow more, and more annoying.
>>2258767Yes I too like Tita, Angelica, and Musse.
>>2258773her dub va gets me so fucking hard
>>2258572>disliking SharonWhat's it like to have no soul, anon? >>2258773>she will slowly grow more, and more annoyingI think her bonding events did a good job of fleshing her out and preventing that. Claire's events in 2 go places too.
>tos 2: gets saved by adults>tos 3: gets saved by his studentsc'mon, this is getting old... this is the last of this right?
>>2259527Haha, if only you knew, sweet anon. This is going to happen in every single Trails, including the older ones.
>>2259527>this is the last of this rightNah bro, people making a dramatic last minute entrance is a cornerstone of the series. It's really bad in CS3 though, by far the worst offender. I remember being annoyed by it in Zero but that was because I didn't think the help was even necessary most of the time. Made the SSS look like pedestrians for awhile.
>>2260404>Made the SSS look like pedestrians for awhile. To be fair, I think they kind of are until the third chapter or so. Except for Lloyd randomly kicking Waldo's ass, which comes out of nowhere, you spend most of the time getting bullied by slimes and street punks.
Never thought I'd become a weebo anime fan but I love how all the characters are beautiful and there's no tokenism or forced SJW nonsense. Aesthetics really matter to the Japanese and they do an exquisite job
>>2260416You could try checking your local store for barbie dollsweebs are pathetic
>>2260413>Lloyd randomly kicking Wald's assHe's a police officer. Sure Valdo is a big guy for Lloyd but if he can't put proper police training to use and handle one big ass street thug then there's not much hope for him. The giant slime being a problem was a little more believable since it's a monster that would require significant physical damage to defeat but Randy's power level is probably the biggest plot hole of Zero. Tio and, slightly less so, Elie basically are pedestrians so them struggling makes sense but it was still annoying when a pack of wolves saved their asses in a situation they should've been strong enough to handle.
>>2260424you could try jumping off a highway bridge
>>2254746Dumb autistic noble.
>>2260479At least she is using interpunction. My mom never bothered to learn.
>>2260424yaas, slay queen, you tell em, wrpgs are da best
>>2260479Not a Lauraguy but this moment was priceless.
>>2260447That's a nice way of looking at it. The training WOULD prepare him for that exact situation.Randy is a bit of an odd one though. The story acknowledges that he'll literally go insane if he stops holding back. Yet his AT Delay still lets him shine and easily stand above the rest of the party... at least in Zero. In Azure, delay doesn't really do anything, his damage got a nerf and... he doesn't get much to compensate. But story-wise he's better than ever. Go figure.
how is the boob level in kuro? is it as high as rean's games? does it have anything on the level as naked emma? I already know about the pole dancing.
>>2261321It's about the same, minus the naked Emma. Nothing quite like that yet, but Rixia did get an upgrade.>Strega-brand Crossballheh
>>2260612Jesus what the hell is wrong with WRPG devs? They might as well start modelling all their women after Chris Chan KEK
>>2261331can you make the girls run around in bikinis?
>>2261339You know it.
>>2261654seeing these 2 fight together was always kino
>>2261654>>2261888Rean and Crow as an optional super boss fight in Kuro when?
>>2261209>he'll literally go insane if he stops holding backMust've missed this somewhere though it's clear to see in a few of his attacks that he becomes quite the demon when he lets loose, particularly the S-craft where he's seething with rage. Given his backstory from Azure I got the impression he was always the most reasonable of the Orlandos but was an exceptional tactical leader which is why he was named the successor. But rusty doesn't begin to cover how out of shape he is by the start of Zero. I started with Zero so I remember the bus rescue at the beginning where those monkeys absolutely destroyed me. Second attempt I discovered the value of Delay because Randy was able to prevent them from attacking the entire fight. Zero MVPs were Tio and Randy while in Azure MVPs were Lloyd and Ellie. Still everyone pulled their weight in Azure, Randy was fat enough he was often the only one to survive boss S-crafts.
>>2262439>he becomes quite the demon when he lets looseYeah, that's exactly what he tries to hide during Zero. He lapses back into punished Randy when the going gets raw. Though it's also worth noting that his silly jaeger gun only gets patched up in Azure. It's... debatable how much difference it makes gameplay-wise, but story-wise it's a big deal. >I discovered the value of Delay because Randy was able to prevent them from attacking the entire fightTo this day, I'm still not sure if this is cheese or the intended tactic. Feels strange that you can just delay both of them to death, but, at the same time, I have no idea what else can you do with them that early on.
>>2262466>Though it's also worth noting that his silly jaeger gun only gets patched up in Azure.Genuinely good point, for the average person not using the weapon you've been trained to is a nerf but not professional mercenary down to ugh that street thug is kicking my ass. However in the case of the big deal Jaegers it might be a real thing given the plot details from CS3-4. Hadn't really considered that before. >not sure if it's cheese or a legit tacticI'd say it's intended. I got absolutely monkey fisted the first time to the point I considered quitting since it just seemed impossible. Thankfully I gave it a second try and the monkeys stood on top of each other for some Power Smashing while everyone else chews on their heels for an eventual victory. It was a really memorable moment because the game went from impossible to a fair fight with just one change. And then Joshua and Estelle slaughtered 4 of those monkeys without breaking a sweat which was amazing but very believable at the same time since they're generic enemies. Zero was a great ride; simple yet done exceptionally well.
i really want to play kuro bros...it looks great
>>2263841Same. Hahajimari too. But I still have another 5 Trails to go through - and not enough time.
>>22638412025 isn't that far away haha...
God Machias' S-Craft animation in 3 and 4 is fucking awful. "YOU FAILED YOUR INSPECTION!" while flailing pistols around, holy shit.
>>2263973Is it more edging or abandonment play?
>>2263986Eight Years, One Translation - Sixth form: Kondo-san stepping on my balls!
>>2263985He can't rapid fire with his shotgun and he doesn't have crazy amounts of bullets like Crow's guns.
>Crow is built up as your senpai who's cooler and more competent than Rean, and is beloved by everyone>end of CS2>his years of experience with Ordine get absolutely shit-stomped by Rean's two months of riding Valimar>not even a minute after his death, his greatest triumph is revealed to be a lie - mister Blood and Iron was literally just hanging out off-screen, chuckling as Crow said his goodbyes Getting some mixed messages here...
If there's anything anyone can say that will help me get over the retardness that was the entirety of CS2 so I can finally find motivation to continue playing the series, please do so right now.
>>2265025it only gets worse
>>2265025go play assassins creed or skyrim then, you fucking cringe zoomerfaggotalso, reddit is that way.>>>>did you take a wrong turn?
>>2261654Tell me what exactly is the difference between these two?
>>2265025I don't think it's worth it until Kuro comes west (haha...) and you have a palette cleanser to look forward to. As of right now, you're just looking at two more games worth of CS's usual bullshit.
>>2260416Embrace the anime games, Anon. We got hot babes, good music, good gameplay, and fun stories about the power of friendship.
>>2265628>We got hot babes, good music, good gameplay, and fun stories about the power of friendship.I wish.
>>2265581Rean is just trying to run a legitimate bank, while Crow does nothing but steal mira and ruin the economy.
>>2265025cs2 is considered by amny as the worst of the cold steel arc so, take that as you will
>>2265811Gaius with two spears makes their opinion invalid.Shit-posting aside, it's got plenty of good moments, I thought, but it did feel like there's a section that you could just get rid of. Maybe letting you finish the Shrines when you first see them would've helped the pacing? It also needed a bit more difficulty, but I guess that's just Cold Steel.
>>2265835Its good moments are drowned out by schlock and poor pacing.
This game was an absolutely unintentional comedy masterpiece, jesus christ.please tell me 4 is actually better and good
>>2265990Disappointing but not surprising, oh well I can't take any of the plot or main characters seriously at this point so I guess I'd trudge through for more Olivier/Tio/my CS waifu bonding events and such.Every CS game has been worse than the last and the only reason I stomached finishing 3 is having the Crossbell cast return and final bonding events with the few CS characters I like, though friendzoning Alisa was a great addition I never expected thanks Falcom.
>>2266022Something tells me that this series is not for you.
>>2266034Seeing as I played through 9 of the games, something tells me you don't understand that different things appeal to different people. You taking terrible shounen anime writing seriously says a lot.
>>2266022>at this pointAcademy setting should've been your first warning desu. Just enjoy the wild ride.
>>2266062Trails always were a little naive in their plot, regardless of whether it was Sky or Crossbell.
>>2266034It's not his fault Falcom tried to target a new audience mid-franchise.
>>2266022I wouldn't say I can't take the characters seriously; for me it's mainly do I care about the characters or not and overall the Trails series has got me invested in caring about the characters despite the stupid plot. Nearing the end of 4 myself. At points I've thought it was better than 3 at least and at other points I was certain it wasn't. It's a roller coaster for sure and the longest game yet so that's a lot of ups and downs. If you've gotten this far I'm sure you'll get through it and have a nice haha at the end though I have yet to see the finale.
>>2266075I don't disagree, Grimwood totally not dying *wink wink* at the end of Azure is one of a few particularly inane moments from Crossbell for example. The difference is the writing so far has been markedly more stupid and while Estelle and Lloyd definitely have shounen anime protagonist tendencies and moments, they aren't overbearing to the same degree nor are they the centre of the universe like Rean is.
>>2266159>nor are they the centre of the universe like Rean isI think that's unavoidable, given that the Erebonia arc is supposed to be a "rise and fall of a hero" kind of story. No, we aren't gonna talk about how power of friendship and happy endings kinda get in the way of such stories.
>>2265979i enjoyed it quite a bit, but sadly, i think the more recent the games are released, the more i feel like they're handholding you to the next scenario, seriously, the map teleport is honestly quite stupid, it makes exploring literally obsolete, this is one of these things i have the biggest turn off with the most recent games in the series, that and the games being more and more easy with each new title, it just turns off the fun of a good challenge
>>2266159>Grimwood doesn't dieThat bothers you? Ian's death wasn't half as brutal as some of the others earlier in Azure only to find out nobody died. >Grimwood loses nerve at the last possible second and under very little pressure from Lloyd That's what bothered me but ultimately Ian wasn't going to fight you so Mariabell swatting that traitor away was just to further establish her as the irredeemable villain that must be stopped.
>>2266273>further establish her as the irredeemable villain that must be stoppedAnd after you beat up Demiurgos, she just has a friendly chat with SSS, says good job and peaces out. I guess it's in the spirit of Trails, but thinking logically about it just doesn't work for me.
>>2266288I mean the logic there is the grandmaster has already recruited her so she's aware of and has agreed to an even bigger mysterious evil anime plot, Ouroboros wasn't all that invested in the Crois' family plan to revive their Sept-Terrion of Mirage (all involvement by them ended when they pulled the plug on Dieter) and that's over the top anime villains for you. She's technically still stringing Elie along just for the fun of it as well.
>>2266302>I mean the logic there is the grandmaster has already recruited her so she's aware of and has agreed to an even bigger mysterious evil anime plotOuro has pretty much stopped being evil at this point.
>>2266099You can't fault Falcom for targeting modern audience. Most people who enjoyed the first games moved on and wouldn't buy the CS saga anyway. In the end sale numbers are all that matters.
>>2266307I don't think the Grandmaster's bajillion games long setup master plan is going to be creating the world's most friendly tea party with Lloyd, Estelle, Rean, Van and all protagonists yet to come. However I could be wrong. I can hear the speech already, "But don't you see!? This tea wouldn't taste half as magnificent if it wasn't being shared amongst so many heroes that had to overcome truly grueling challenges to get here. Creating Ouroboros and causing all those crises was the only way to make this grand tea party possible."
>>2266237The difficulty mods make CS3 or CS4 a lot better...unless you're a consolefag, then you're outta luck lmao
>>2266324I absolutely can blame them, considering how badly the series' sales have dropped in Japan since CS2. Kuro had the lowest first week sales in the franchise since Sky 3rd on PSP. And sales abroad can only help so much when they're localized by third-party companies who take large shares of their earnings. I think Falcom made some extremely shortsighted business decisions by chasing after Personabux and pigeonholing themselves into the Sony otaku market. The audience they tried to target obviously didn't stick around and now their most reliable cash cow series has declined in their most important market. And to make things worse, the west probably won't get Kuro until like 2024, which is anywhere from 2/5 to half of the way through the current console generation.
>>2266339i haven't been a consolefag since playstation 2 days
>>2266342>chasing after Personabux and pigeonholing themselves into the Sony otaku marketYou have a well-written story and ensemble of characters and have otaku bait/pick your waifu options.Problem is Sen did neither by being a mess of a story and by ramming Alisa down your throat in 1 and ESPECIALLY in 4.Doesn't Kuro also let you pick your waifu, but only has like 2 or 3 options?
>>2266383People didn't get into this series for the harem shit. Nobody wanted this. Nor the high school sim stuff. It may have attracted a new audience at first, but that audience didn't stick around and it alienated the old fans. And no, Kuro doesn't have waifu routes. Not the first game anyway.
>>2266401Sky is literally about Estelle going on an adventure with her adopted brother-cum-boyfriend in FC and chasing after him in SC. FC also has you attending and living in Jenis Academy for a bit together but I guess we ignore that nowadays.Azure and Ao were the games that LITERALLY INSERTED HAREMSHIT INTO THE FRANCHISE, where every girl with a portrait is in love with Lloyd and you get to pick your waifu at the end of Ao. Also both the most consistently highly rated and praised games despite that.If you didn't see the logical progression and were blindsided by blatant, in your face haremshit with every girl in Sen that's solely on you. Kiseki has been adhering to anime tropes and trends all along, and guess what: dating sim elements were the player gets to have a say in how romance plays out are popular.>People didn't get into this series for the harem shit. Nobody wanted this. You didn't, I didn't, and I suspect most people on this board didn't, but don't try and delude yourself for a fucking second that a lot of people didn't want romance options especially after the Crossbell games.
>>2266504>FC also has you attending and living in Jenis Academy for a bit together but I guess we ignore that nowadays.A single plot arc with a school is hardly comparable with a game that has a school as a hub and has multiple gameplay systems either centered on or tangentially related to said school.>Azure and Ao were the games that LITERALLY INSERTED HAREMSHIT INTO THE FRANCHISEKind of similar to the school aspects of CS. The light harem stuff in Crossbell mostly amounted to comic relief or chievo hunting. It wasn't tied to entire character progression systems and other mechanics like in CS.>but don't try and delude yourself for a fucking second that a lot of people didn't want romance options especially after the Crossbell games.I don't see it that way, especially given how much criticism CS draws from even hardcore Japanese fans when it comes to quadrupling down on the harem elements. Sure, there's probably millions of weebs out there who are casual gamers and love stuff like that, but they come and go like the trends they cling to.
>>2266525What do you think Falcom care more about, autists on 2ch or people who spend money on the games and merchandise?
>>2266531Who do you think does most of that spending?
>>2266532Hardcores are hardcores for a reason and will keep buying the games because they're 11 in now and are invested in the series as a whole and not the minutiae of each arc. If removing gameplay elements that aren't critical reduced sales, wouldn't that incentivize Falcom to keep them around, and not keep them out to appease the Jap boomers who started on the PSP?
>>2266550>If removing gameplay elements that aren't critical reduced sales, wouldn't that incentivize Falcom to keep them around, and not keep them out to appease the Jap boomers who started on the PSP?But those elements didn't lead to growth in sales in the long run. The casuals who picked up the earlier CS games hardly largely bailed by CS3 and older fans also started dropping the series because they got sick of that stuff. CS4 had the most harem shit of any Trails game and it sold considerably less than Ao, CS1, and CS2. It would be one thing if the series' momentum kept building and more people kept buying the games as a result of increased fan service and harem elements, but that doesn't seem to be the case - at least not in Japan, where the series still makes most of its money.
>>2266574>But those elements didn't lead to growth in sales in the long run.But they have. The Sen games are by far the most popular in the series. Sen 1 came out in 2013 and Hajimari in 2020, do you think Falcom would spend 7 years and 5 games on a subseries that wasn't financially rewarding? Also releasing Kuro releasing only a few weeks after Arise wasn't ideal.>The casuals who picked up the earlier CS games hardly largely bailed by CS3 and older fans also started dropping the series because they got sick of that stuff.Pure speculation, there is zero evidence whenever anyone tries to explain why Sen 3 and 4 sold less and says this shit every time.>CS4 had the most harem shit of any Trails game and it sold considerably less than Ao, CS1, and CS2.Sen 3 came out in September of 2017. Do you know what console came out in March of that year? The one that is overwhelmingly shitstomping the PS4 and PS5 in hardware and software sales in Japan.Unrelatedly, Falcom started outsourcing porting the Sen games (and not older titles) to said console and are going to start internally developing moving forward.Might have something to do with the games not being available on that console until 2020.>that doesn't seem to be the case - at least not in Japan, where the series still makes most of its moneyObjectively wrong.
>>2266626>Sen 1 came out in 2013 and Hajimari in 2020, do you think Falcom would spend 7 years and 5 games on a subseries that wasn't financially rewarding?Like I said before, because they made a shortsighted business decision that affected the creative direction of the Cold Steel arc and were stuck with having to both finish the arc's store and maintain that appeal for its remainder.>Pure speculation, there is zero evidence whenever anyone tries to explain why Sen 3 and 4 sold less and says this shit every time.>Objectively wrong.Pic related. aidios was a fucking moron
sen was a cash grab, they chose short term profits over the longevity of the franchiseyou're seeing that now with kuro actually being a pretty decent game but all the goodwill they destroyed with sen just made it so nobody cared
>>2266858you haven't played kuro, keep seething about sen though
>>2266858Man, Falcom always do this shit. They stick to some failing market until the 11th hour and 59th minute, and THEN decide to do something about it, like forming an internal Switch development team just this year. It's always reactive and never proactive.>>2266879You can thank Sen for putting Kuro in this situation to begin with.
>>2266858What's worse is that they're doubling down on Kiseki even more instead of giving it a little bit of time to breathe so that people begin to miss it. I'm not a butthurt Ysfag by any means but Kiseki for 3 years in a row is not going to do them any favors. People need time to miss the series and want for it to return. Falcom has a billion IPs they could do something with and i'm sure the Ysfags would be happy to get a game on their anniversary. Now i'm not saying Kiseki shouldn't be a semi-regular series as I think that continuinity and semi-regular releases are a big part of the appeal of the series but they shouldn't oversaturate themselves after what a fucking mess that the entire Cold Steel 1-Hajimari arc was.
>>2266908>People need time to miss the series and want for it to return. Is NISA doing everyone, Falcom included, a favor by sitting on Hahajimari for like 4 years?
>>2266505She deserved better. Truly, the best girl of Trails.
>>2267253Not as best as you are, Duvalie.
>>2267089Not me.NISA can suck dicks for all i care.
>>2267388>Lloyd linked with Rufus>lvl 7Haha, they're good friends.
>>2267388Don't advertise this shit. Keep it on the downlow until it's ready.
>>2266505>Unfathomed Force plays
>>2267388holy fucking basedone anon dabbing on nishit and falcunts
I'm gonna be very honest with you and I hope it doesn't upset, but I like Rean, he's a fun protagonist.
I never realize she was that huge. Jesus christ.
>>2269764Yeah, I have to agree. Despite all his faults, he's a damn good protagonist.
So I've gotten into the Trails series this year. I've played the Sky trilogy and the Crossbell duology. I've played CS 1 and and working through CS 2.First, I enjoy it all, but in many ways CS so far feels a lot more limited than the previous two series, perhaps because going the 3d route means they are somewhat less able to realize a more cohesive vision for the world and its places. I don't know. Moreover, the characters and story of CS are a bit lacking compared to the previous games. The formula is the same: a slow burn followed by an inevitable big twist and large climax, but the climax of CS1 lost some of its effect from playing crossbell and, furthermore, felt a bit more disjointed from the general plot. That said, as always, it is still a lot of fun to experience. I'm also an Emma-stan; that rack (I was also a Rixia-stand, maybe for same reason, so perhaps my taste is bad).So far, Estelle is my favorite MC and the Sky trilogy is my favorite story. Crossbell was also very good. CS is a bit worse so far but still fun. I'm sure I'll enjoy all the further call-backs and tie-ins I'll experience as I go towards CS 3 and 4. I'll of course play the newer ones too, but I'm thinking of taking a break between CS1 and 2 and 3 and 4 to play something from the Ys series.Where would you recommend starting for the Ys series? Keep in mind, I had no problem playing the with the older graphics of Sky and Crossbell. Like I said, in some ways I enjoyed it more, so I don't need something super modern and realized in 3d.
>>2270008The pride of crossbell
>>2269764hes not bad per se, the real problem is there isnt enough "rean" for 4 games, falcom should've come up for a new MC for CS3 and 4
>>2270143I think he's more interesting in 3 and 4, actually. But I do agree with the idea, maybe having him as a party member in 1 and 2, rather than the protag of all 4 games, would've been better in the long run.
What are your thoughts on Rixia Mao as a character of immense plot importance?
>>2270298I liked her more when she talked shit to absolutely everyone nonstop as the masketta man. The real Rixia is... okay, I guess.
>>2270138>spoilerHello fellow Emmafag. Her tits are great but I like her because of her role later. Oh she also have a sexy back.>Where would you recommend starting for the Ys series? If its pure hack and slash, Felghana or Origin. If its modern Ys then Seven or Dana. If you're interested in its history and bumper cars then Ys I and II Chronicles.
>>2270298I have to be honest. Rixia is two of the big reasons why I got into the series and why I specifically wanted to start with Zero. As a character with massive plot importances, I have to say she certainly helped make it worth the effort. My disappointment that she won't be playable again in English (besides the originals) until after the next Ice Age cannot be overstated.
Turbo not speeding up activating Orders in CS4 is so fucking annoying holy shit
>>2270298I like hot it looks like she isn't wearing panties. I dislike that she actually is.
>>2270298shes hot which i guess makes up for the fact that she has almost no character whatsoever
Are there really so few of us out there that appreciate Emma for the 10/10 gal that she is? I have to admit, in the beginning of CS1, I overlooked her for Fie and Laura, but she grew on me with time. The other gems being Linde and Vivi, Beryl, Clara (probably the best of all), Dorothee, Friedel, and Edel.
>>2271908Emma is one of the most popular girls of the Cool Rean arc though. Tied with pretty much just Laura at the top, I think. She'd be my first choice too, if Sara and Musse weren't 11 /10 for me.
>>2271908>I overlooked her for Fie and Laura, but she grew on me with time.can't really blame you on it, most of the girls are pretty interesting at the beginning, which is why Alisa tends to be overshadowed by them
>>2271908Emma is great but so are other girls.
>>2271908Already aiming for her since CS1, it was the right choice for me in the long run. At first, its for the iinchou character that gets overshadowed everytime, then there are hints thats shes more than that and that seals the deal for me.Her tits may be the most common point for her but for me, its the braids and the glasses and later on, her non Thors outfit.
So I just the two spoiler party members in 4, and it seems like they want me to run the guy as an arts caster? It really seems that way with his one craft and the default quartz they gave him.
>>2272168>spoiler party in 4youll have to be more specific anon, thats a wide description
>>2271908>Clara (probably the best of all)???I'd like to go the Vivi route just for fun and she even teases it but of course not allowed. Vivi and Linde two for one special would be the best route for sure. The mystery surrounding how a relationship with Beryl would work is a question I'd love an answer to but will forever remain unsolved.
>>2272369Why are the most fun girls always off-limits? I wanted to flag the secret Vivi ending, but Falcom cockblocked me...
>>2272377You guys have it easy compared to Rune Factory fans at least. Pictured are unmarriagable in the fifth game while the actual bachelorette candidates all look like either kids or teenagers.
>>2272377Vivi's pranks in CS1 were some of the most enjoyable moments. I would've boldly pushed Alisa aside for a little Vivi action but she remains a tease till the end. Still disappointed neither of them wore a bikini to swim class.
>>2272369Clara's passion for art and resolute personality is very cute. She'd most likely be a equally passionate waifu.
For me? It has to be Rose.
>>2272446An interesting theory, but I'd be surprised if anyone could claw her away from her art long enough to find out.
>>2272462the s-craft animations are so kino especially at 120fps
How do I get past the first boss? I've tried the regedit and firewall already.
>>2265003>doesn't actually fucking dieThanks Falcom, now I have no actual reason to care about his sad ass death scene
>>2272788What about offline?
>>2243860this post reeks of /v/
>>2272866Well to be fair he did die. So more like he was resurrected.
>>2272866It's even worse at the end of 3>establish multiple times that characters who we see die or are told are supposed to be dead didn't actually die permanentlythen in the SAME FUCKING SCENE>"haha we blew them up they're totally dead now, aren't you emotional after seeing one of the most beloved characters in the series totally die on screen?"
>>2260479She was my first romantic choice in all 4 of ToCS games. Truth be told, this scene made me tear up a little.
>>2251641Alisa is very good to give cp to everyone, plus her primary orb (auto-revival) saved my ass many time when a wide one-hit death for everyone wiped my party.
>>2273182I found the explanation they went with pretty funny. They had plenty of time to write something, but they just made the big good behind literally all the protagonists look as dumb as he acts. I guess it adds to Osbourne being morally grey if he was actually trying to kill him. Before the worst he did was stealing land and bureaucrats jobs. Better suits the bizarre amalgamation of vader and palpatine that Osbourne is. Honestly, if they had just handled the war casualty aspect a bit more maturely I'd be willing to let all the stupid tropes slide.
>>2273212I did up until 4, but as soon as I noticed the voice actress changed I dropped her. Kinda wish I had just played with japanese. They stopped doing the extra lines, and between Laura and Osbourne CS4 felt really lacking.
>>2271908>BerylBased as fuck. I'm gonna hope with you that we can date her in the next games.
What do you think of the theory that Beryl is actually an avatar of Aidios herself?
>>2273227>Before the worst he did was stealing land and bureaucrats jobsI think CS does a really poor job at establishing Osbourne before everything goes to hell. From Rean's perspective, pretty much all you see of mister Blood and Iron is that he's relentless at playing 4D chess. That one scene in Azure where he meets SSS does more for his character than CS1 and 2 combined. You actually got the sense of the kind of calamity brewing in his head.
>>2273411I wonder if Roy will be better.
>>2273388Why is the good goddess such a damn creep?
>>2273388really doubt it, both luciola and schera (to a lesser extent) could read the future with their little gypsy techniques, Beryl is just gifted in that regard
>>2273411That meeting with Osborne was really something. President Rocksmith tries to bribe the SSS with medals to which Lloyd humbly declines; Rocksmith insists but obviously they never get those medals. But Osborne straight up tells them they're fucked and there's not a goddamn thing they can do about it, also don't expect any medals. As for Class VII, Osborne doesn't antagonize them but he doesn't try hard to win them over either. It's just clear he has a lot of power and influence and there's concern, especially among the nobles, that he's abusing that power to wrestle away more and more influence away from provincial leaders. The very first field study is a small town where the police refuse to do their jobs because the central government has been taking cuts out of the provincial leader's tax revenue. And then the centralized police that gets around via the extensive train network, which Osborne has built, shows up, solves all the issues and flash the paperwork to show they have jurisdiction to work in any town where the railway goes through. It's subtle but right away they are establishing that the provincial leaders are essentially in the same situation as Lloyd; Osborne is taunting them in the very hope that they lash out and start a war.
>>2274274I still can't believe his ultimate plan was to bring Erebonia to the brink of world war just so he could get a bunch of goody-two-shoed teenagers to physically harness the power of friendship and defeat the evil curse that's been plaguing the empire for a millennium. Feels so anticlimactic given how much of a scheming badass he was in the earlier games.
>>2273212I'm so close to the end of 4 and you have no idea how much I'm looking forward to that final event. Probably going to watch it like 3 times before finishing the game.
>>2274319Aren't all mysteries a let down once you know everything though? Do agree with you, but in hindsight it was pretty telegraphed with how illogically evil he was at times.
>>2274332I think my biggest problem is how silly it makes some of his villain LARPing look in retrospect. That scene with the SSS is a good example. If we're going by the REAL Osborne, that scene makes very little sense. Why would he bother talking down to some irrelevant rookie cops? They're not people he would need to fool into thinking he's a bad guy. They have no power over him. And him being an asshole for fun doesn't make much sense either. Pre-Awakener Osborne and Dreichels were both pretty upright individuals.
>>2274357>Why would he bother talking down to some irrelevant rookie cops? They're not people he would need to fool into thinking he's a bad guy.Noble faction very likely had their spies or at least informants there so playing the role was a wiser move. Moreover, he knew that the war is getting closer and Osborne's aim was to contain it with minimal costs, including shielding Erebonians and taking as much shit for them as possible.>>2274319He had contingency plans, namely Lianne. It was just that Rean and Olivert were one of the possible powers that could fulfil Phantasmal Blaze in a way that satisfied him. After all, fucking Ishmelga over was his aim all along.
>>2274379>He had contingency plans, namely Lianne.Since when was she a contingency plan? His right hand man literally murdered her.
>>2274383Rufus was the most unruly of Ironbloods and he made it clear that his allegiance is with himself. Osborne certainly did not allow him to intrude on Lianne's Rivalry. And yes, Lianne had the best chances at killing Ishmelga, it was just that every Awakener excluding Rufus decided to bet on Rean for personal reasons.
>>2274398Most unruly? He was with Osborne longer than any of the other Ironbloods and probably before Franz became the new Black Alberich. I don't remember anything in the game that suggested that Osborne was taken aback or angry with him killing her.
>>2274408>I don't remember anything in the game that suggested that Osborne was taken aback or angry with him killing her.Ultimately, Lianne was going to die regardless of the result. Osborne loved her but was also able to accept that fact. And yes, Rufus was unruly. Claire, Millium and even Lechter saw Osborne as a father figure even if they never called him that. Rufus, on the other hand, named Osborne his father but his feelings were tainted with the ambition to succeed Osborne. He was the only one who tried to become a player, others were content with being pawns in the game.
>>2274319Bro, that's a bit heavy on the spoilers there. Thankfully I completed CSIV a few days ago. Honestly, I liked the ending and how his evil plan was pretending to be evil so his son could surpass him all along. He sold himself out to Ismelga in order to save Rean which likely awoke him as Emperor Dreichels. So he's already in a situation where his soul belongs to the curse and he has to play along as it's awakener. So Plan A is Rean abuses the curse to get way stronger than he should be and win the Rivalries or Plan B where Osborne does it himself and blindsides Ismelga by self-destructing but Rean likely dies anyway because his heart is infected. With Plan A there's the hope Rean magically finds a way, after accepting the total curse upon himself, to force it out of him and then they fight it. That's fine in my book. The bullshit elements are that the world needs to be on the brink of destruction before the Rivalries can take place at all, the infernal castle somehow wasn't a brink of destruction event, but the war that barely even started with extremely minimal casualties (knowing this series) was definitely a brink of destruction event. It's bullshit that the Rivalries with Crow, Rutger and Lianne were all acceptable even before the mediocre Day 1 of fighting. The PG-13 bullshit is silly but it all coming together in a PG-13 ending felt right to me. Though the fake out not true ending being forced upon you to watch was amusing. I like to imagine that as soon as the screen faded to black and the sad music kicked in the original Class VII decided enough was enough and they proceed to snuff out those stupid fucking kids.
>>2274357>Why would he bother talking down to some irrelevant rookie cops?It comes off as a threat, but, if you assume that he's not just trying to scare your little girl, it can be interpreted as a warning - a far more dramatic and legit one than usual. SSS were making a name for themselves, but, at that point, they still had no idea what kind of a shitstorm was coming.
>>2274420>the infernal castle somehow wasn't a brink of destruction eventIt was a pseudo Rivalry that didn't really work. Vita was desperate to try it out because she didn't know about Osborne's plan. And during that time there was plenty of fighting, not only in the capital but powerful enforcers were in the palace. Besides, no Divine Knight absorbed the power of Testa-Rossa. It was a failure.
>>2274436In retrospect, I do wonder if that was how it was originally written, cause it's painfully obvious that Falcom kind of ad libbed a bunch of lore about the Divine Knights, the Curse, and the Rivalry as the story went. This is especially true in CS4, where they pull stuff out of their ass like the Divine Knights having some kind of power level hierarchy and being able to tether the souls of other Divine Knights and Awakeners to each other.
>>2274455Hard to say. We know that there were many Awakeners in previous centuries and Divine Knights were fighting against each other. It was also mentioned at some point that a destroyed Divine Knight will reassemble itself given time so maybe their powers return to them if the Great One is not created. Or maybe fusing powers demands that there is a continental-scale war or Tuatha De is flying or something. Honestly, I never cared about that though I would have a fair share of my questions if I even met Kondo.
>>2267388what is this? link me any information please
>>2274463I don't think he'd know himself, to be honest. The CS arc was a mess and likely has a ton of scrapped ideas in between all the stuff that made it into the game. Kondo didn't even know how Osborne managed to reincarnate in an interview with Gu4n.
>>2271908I really really really love Emma
>>2274436>it was a Psuedo Rivalry that didn't workAnd it didn't work because they revealed the secret condition in the next two games which was the World needs to be on the brink of destruction. Which is why Osborne steps out, says I'm taking over your shitty plan and then proceeds to setup World War 1. He was waiting around hoping Vita's plan would work but it clearly didn't so he had take the reins to do everything himself. CS3 is another posturing waste of time with Ouroboros trying to artificially create rivalries using Aion knock offs and increasingly dramatic situations, mainly the attack on Ordis which in theory should've gotten tons of civilians killed and might've worked if anyone on the villain's side had the balls to actually kill some civilians. CS1-3 is basically just a bunch of pansy ass villains trying to create a doomsday scenario where you don't break any eggs only to find out you can't cheat the system. But yet in CS4, half the Rivalries take place with only the threat of a looming WW1 and then the other half only siphon energy out of a few skirmishes. Black Alberich warns it's not enough yet but it still works anyway so hurray I guess. That's the cheap/anticlimactic part of CS for me. Also I was laughing so hard at the super secret oooh so mysterious hidden truth of Erebonia that not even Roselia knew about was in fact the backstories to Dreichels/Giliath, Lianne, Black Alberich and fucking George, which all happened in the last 250 years. Not the full story behind the Sept-Terrions of Fire and Earth or how they merged into the great one or how the great one was split into the 7 divine knights or, most importantly, how Ismelga got corrupted in the first place or how the Gnomes got taken over but instead just filled in some recent events details. The true history of Erebonia guys; George was a good guy all along, very important, nobody knew that.
>>2274493>CS1-3 is basically just a bunch of pansy ass villains trying to create a doomsday scenario where you don't break any eggs only to find out you can't cheat the system.Eh, Osborne wanted to waste as few lives as possible and most Ouroboros enforcers tend to show at least some distaste towards murder.>Black Alberich warns it's not enough yet but it still works anyway so hurray I guess.I think it was that final fight between Ishmelga and the last standing Divine Knight had to be performed after the war started. Everyone and their mother were doing whatever possible to finish Rivalries before the deadline. But it is just my headcanon, as some other things are, to make it more enjoyable for me. I understand if someone sees it differently.
>>2274493It really makes me wonder how Roselia knew so little about Erebonia's situation despite being 800 fucking years old and why Lianne spent a good two and a half centuries sitting on her ass instead of actively working with people she knew to stop the curse.
>>2274535Because they didn't have the power of friendship like Rean does.
>>2274539It was Osborne who designed Ishmelga's fall. Rean did well but most contributions go to his dad.
>>2274539Lianne literally had all her troops and support from the imperial family and government.
>>2274559Yes, but did they have shining bonds strengthened from overcoming tragedies like market manager Otto's death? I don't think they did.
>>2274597Come on, anon. It has been months since we had any good discussion, keep the memes away for today.
>>2274619This whole series is a meme, anon. Especially Cold Steel.
>>2274630fuck off, kuro looks like absolute kino
>>2274619I mean, it's a series with shounen manga/anime level writing about ragtag do-gooder parties that seemingly always have their backs against the wall overcoming all trials and tribulations to save the day and "portray is the strength of the human spirit and the potential that all people have"*, that wasn't a meme.*Kondos actual words.
>>2274522>Eh, Osborne wanted to waste as few lives as possible and most Ouroboros enforcers tend to show at least some distaste towards murder.Exactly my point, Ouroboros hires known assassins with real kill counts and Giliath is a hard ass trying to make the World's greatest omelette. Yet they're all a bunch of pansies pretending to be evil so the heroes can beat them up and feel good about it. It's anime and it's so very silly. >it was too soon before the final fightI wouldn't say that's headcanon but probably the actual correct interpretation. To me it's just a copout to avoid actually having a war and a real death toll in these games. >>2274535It's clear the War of the Lions protagonists weren't as tightly knit a friend group with how easily they drifted apart after the war. >>2274597I was just thinking how the villains of CS are pretty much all the types of people that would be weeping bitterly that one sweet old man was killed accidentally during the course of a civil war.
>>2274641I didn't say Kuro was bad. But it's got seven years of slack to pick up and it's up against a declining domestic market and Falcom's usual late-to-the-party attitude with adopting new platforms.
knowing how retarded the plot is, it'd be great if we could get a long-lasting series in the same vein (10+ games, different character, interlocking events and lore), but with a more mature, complex, and well-written story. Of course, I'd still want it to be a Japanese studio making it with anime-esque art styles. No one wants a shitty WRPG with the common hamfisted political overtones and ugly art/girls.one can dream. maybe one of us will become multi-billionaires one day and could finance such a game ourselves.
>>2274679I don't see it happening. Long-running plots like that are hard to maintain and the barriers of entry into the series go up further and further the longer it goes on.
>>2274679At the end of the day it's childish but oh well that's fine. I'm still glad the series exists and has for the most part remained coherent. Hamel is the worst thing that ever happened in these games which was a village of ~20 people. All I would've liked to see was Erebonia use their Dragunov Class Railway guns, which were setup at the Crossbell border, and absolutely level the nearest Republic city (Altair I believe it's called) to the ground. Would've been extremely easy to do and not a single thing the Republic can do to stop them besides trying and failing to attack from the air. Afterwards you could reveal the city had been evacuated before hand so civilian deaths were minimized. The Erebonian army walking out for a light skirmish and the guns being mostly ineffectual was just too silly. They've been setting up Erebonia as the scary artillery weapons abusers since fucking Zero and they dodged the bullet in Azure and CS1/2 with magic but they set them up again in 3 and failed to use them as intended in 4.
>>2274662ill agree with you on CS dropping the ball a lot during its arc, its a shame that the longest arc was also the worst, but then again that tends to happen in all sorts of media
>>2274741Well, that decline happened to coincide with the series' rise in popularity, and I can't help but feel like CS's creative direction permanently poisoned the well - especially with the series' fandom outside of Japan. You see a lot of people these days who don't even wanna play the older arcs because they think the graphics suck and the only thing aspect of CS that catches their attention is the modern anime aesthetic. CS aimed for the Persona crowd, but ended up getting Bandai Namco weebs instead.
>>2274465I wont give that much of a detail(cause redditors and geotrannies might caught wind of it) but look up at /fg/ archives(i seriously forgot when this project started) then search catbox. Just be warned that the anon doing this will probably not do the main story due to reasons i forgot.
>>2274741tell me about olympia. why does she wear the bandages? is she really a stripper or was she just undercover?
>>2274741Olympia has come to see us! Jesus Christ be praised.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l8QUu2V4S1kSo, I've either lost my mind and this isn't a trails song. Or I just can't find it. Confirmation either way would be appreciated.
>>2274933he doesn't have to do the main story because it's already done in the form of a spreadsheet overlay program, he's just translating the menus so that you can actually play the game instead of having to refer to ANOTHER spreadsheet every time you want to use an attack or change a quartz
>>2274933Yeah, they've all 404'd except an old version. If only I could get the spreadsheet to work in the first place. There's no guide for the PC version, any obvious differences in setting it up? Can't get past loading translation.
>>2275350you might be confusing with https://youtu.be/G01LEdKV9VUbut i does sound oddly familiar, so it could be some ambient song in one of the citiesit doesnt help that this song shares a lot of notes with others from the OST
>>2275386Well apparently the musician is Japanese and has most of his work as free use. So maybe they used it as an ambient song, But literally every track of theirs sounds like it belongs in trails, so maybe they're just influenced and that's why it sounds familiar.
>>2243550If you're looking for a 10+ year story you're shit out of luck.JRPGS are usually about drowning you in gameplay. So try persona or SaGa I guess. If not try reading. Mushoku tensei and Lord of mysteries take place over years and have a lot of world building, they'll fill the void for a bit.
>>2275525or maybe read some actual good fantasy
>>2276060If someone is in despair over fucking Trails of cold steel I doubt their standards are very high. At least power fantasy trash will get their foot in the door. You aren't gonna catch many people on 4chan if you recommend Dick or China Mieville.
>>2274933The main problem to put the translation was that the script files were encrypted but now that's solved. After that the problem was that the script files weren't as flexible as the table files were you find items names, crafts, etc, in the table files you can pretty much put any text but in the script files you had to make the english text match exactly the same number of characters that you get from the japanese text in the hex editor, so you have to cut down the english translation if it was too long or fill it with spaces if it was too short, you can solve that now with the sen decompiler in where you simply throw the script file into the decompiler and it gives you an excel file where you can edit the text just like in any text editor, after you finish you throw the excel file back into the decompiler and it gives you a properly edited script file that the game can use. The 2 problems right now are time and finding the script files where you want to edit because threre are tons of them and they are not in order.
>>2276445>power fantasyBut you spend 4 games watching Rean get fucking wrecked nonstop, as he's powerless to do anything on his own.
>>2276486He literally spends dozens of hours solving people's problems and getting praise for it around the clock. A handful of key plot events don't detract from this.
>>2276490>being a gofer for everyone>power fantasyMaybe you confused it with headpatting fantasy?
>>2276495>headpatting fantasyThat actually sounds kinda awesome.
>>2276495Rean is the ultimate headpatting power fantasy. All women he interacts with are instantly swooned by his headpatting finesse. Learning such a power would change your life forever.
>>2276509Isn't that a tie between Lloyd and Rean?
>>2276652Lloyd is moreso the smooth talker. Getting the impression Joshua is just very pretty and doesn't have to say or do much of anything to attract women.
>>2276678>Joshua is just very pretty and doesn't have to say or do much of anything to attract womenWhich is why Estelle wants him. I mean "manly" female(not tranny) loves men who looks feminine.
>>2276682I would say that Joshua is boyish rather than effeminate. He will look like a teenager even in his 40ties.
>>2276495Unironically yes. This is the kind of series that glorifies being an errand boy as heroic and empowering.
>>2276682Just played through the prologue of Sky 1 and there's plenty of mixed messages going on, particularly Estelle. Joshua is interested; Estelle is undecided. She became very curious the moment her friend Tio, not Tio, revealed Joshua has turned down numerous girls but then she went back to playing sister. Good to see Trails has always been a string you along with potential romance but never quite delivering series. Anyways I don't really buy the Joshua looking like a woman thing enough to put him in a dress. Just a common Japanese trope for whatever reason. But Estelle being into sports shoes has me invested, good taste Joshua.
>>2276509This. Headpats and OLEV > whores.
Got these all in the sale. Looks like I'll just be traditional and shit and start with 1. The bumper combat doesn't really scare me off and might even be an interesting little experience.
Do you know that someone on /fg/ is slowly going through the game files of PC Hajimari with an hex editor to add English text? Just menu and notebook stuff, not dialogue, those are separate. Also they're uploaded on catbox links that expire within hours, so don't ask me because I don't have them
>>2276715>I spent money on games I could have gotten for freeOkay, good for you?
>>2276725That's literally the thing i look forward when i wake up in the morning(since that anon usually post updates around that time)
>>2276725Stop advertising this shit. Let them finish their work.
>>2276745/vg/ is not your secret club, going to post it regularly in Kiseki threads so more people know.
>>2276747I don't want someone snitching on this thing, you absolute moron. The golden rule for these kinds of fan projects is to keep a tight lid on them until they're finished. Zero Field got a C&D for trying to make a fan translation of Hajimari. We don't need people stirring up shit over this anon's work.
>>2276751If whoever was working on it didn't want to share it, it wouldn't be shared retard. /vg/ and this site are not secret clubs.
>>2276751i dont really care nor intend to use this seeing how close is the official release but this anon is rightits not about le epic secret club
>>2276755Not him but it reminds me of a drama that happened on /a/ around 2 years ago. You, me and probably everyone who is using 4chan are aware that manga, manhua and webtoons are being illegally translated and are easily accessible on the internet. Well, as it happened that hobby was starting leaking into a normiesphere and those retards decided that their every friend and acquaintance should also learn about Korean otomeshit and they started reposting it en masse on instagram. Surprisingly, Koreans were unaware that westerners liked their art and even translated it for others to see but they are almost as greedy as jews and threatened everyone they found with a lawsuit. Many translators went under and even today they post a warning to not share it on instagram.
>>2276759Not really an apples to apples comparison as scanlations and fabsubbing was never going to last as the de facto way to consume their respestive content, as well as the fact those methods distribute the content in its entirety due to the nature of the work.A better comparison would be the overlay TL/tool, which is still readily available.
Dont blame us retards when we told you not to spread this when NISA shuts down catbox due to their desperation.
>>2276769>NISA giving a notice to catbox>the admin, out of bed, bags on his eyes, opens up the email folder>""MODS, MOOOOOODDDDSSSS, PLEASE TAKE DOWN THOSE LINKS THAT NO LONGER EXIST"
>>2276769Yes Anon, NISA are going to DMCA catbox over a translation of menus while the overlay tool is still up and MEGA links for all of their published games have been fine for years, including CS4 which only officially came out for PC in April. And then they're going to shutdown gookmoot for allowing those links and discussion on the site.
>>2276759All it really takes to prevent situations like that is learning to shut the fuck up sometimes. Something everyone on the internet tends to struggle with - especially on image boards where anonymity gives a slight sense of impunity for one's actions.
>>2276919"Three can keep a secret, only if two of them are dead"anon what youre asking for is the antithesis of the internet, which is sharing info
>>2276938>Three can keep a secret, only if two of them are deadWhy does this sound like something Laura would say with a straight face and it'd come off as a death threat?
>>2277353I promise you that Benjamin Franklin was nothing like Laura.
If you kill redditors then there's a higher chance that NISA won't know anything about the whole thing.
>>2277432But, anon, if you kill them, then you'll become just like them!
>>2278090>>2278253my cute wife
I just started trail of cold steel. It asked me a random ass question about some prince and where he went, the game even mocks you by saying only kids wouldn't know this shit.Am I meant to play the older games before this?People said I didn't have to.The game keeps info dumping me with all these names and history. In general. Also what's with the blonde haired cunt? Why is she such an assault and nobody calls her out on it. Rean keeps trying to apologise for some reason despite it not being his fault. Yet nobody addresses this. What the actual fuck is this?I get tsundere characters, maybe if he landed on her I'd kinda get it but it's the other way around.Fuck I hate her.
>>2278335*such an asshole
>>2278335>Am I meant to play the older games before this?yes, by order of release
>>2278335It's designed to be a fine starting point, but there's stuff for oldfags too. Just roll with it, it's not like you'll get a bad end for fucking up class questions. :^)If you like CS1, do consider playing the older ones. They hold up quite well aside from Sky FC.>nobody calls her out on itYou're supposed to laugh at that crazy bitch silly girl assaulting poor Rean, anon. It's a funny joke. Just like Alisa's existence. If it's any consolation, she drops the tsundere act quick.
>>2278362>They hold up quite well aside from Sky FC.No way. FC is fun as hell.
>>2278362Like I said I get tsunderes if they have an actual reason, it's not even a misunderstanding, she fell on him not the other way around
OP here, I'm back. Not sure what happened in this thread. Anyways, I'v finally found a game to fill the void. I played Valkyrie Drive which was great, but I beat it quickly and then tried Bullet Girls Phantasia which is TRASH. Then I tried playing Wolfenstein 2009 and Dishonored 2 again, and Batman Arkham Asylum and let me tell you anon I cannot go back to Western games. They are so SLOW, DULL, CLUNKY and DREARY by comparison. I need flashy combat, sexy females, heavy metal soundtrack and bright happy delightful anime worlds The Japs have a special dopamine-inducing formula and I'm addicted to it.So I've finally found a lengthy game to fill the void that Trails left and it's called Fire Emblem Three Houses it is so polished with many characters and bonding events and it runs silky smooth on Ryujinx with G-sync on. Only downside is the Nintendo limitations which means low-res textures and can't run it higher than 60fps
>>2278335>are you supposed to play the older gamesYes, but for situations like this you can just look up a guide for the answer. Honestly I recommend following a guide in general for the Trails series so you don't miss hidden quests or rogue items you might otherwise miss. You should do some of the reading yourself which can be found in the library so you can know the answers but just double check the guide for certainty. Trails puts a lot of effort into fleshing out the setting; every kid of the empire should know this but Alisa will bail you out because the player isn't expected to know the answer yet. The history they're dumping on you now may become questions later or important plot details. Rean invaded her personal space by accident and she's upset about it even though she also knows it was accident. The others can't say anything because it's a matter of feelings and ultimately irrational. She has a right to be mad but it's not fair for her to punish Rean so you're at an impass until Alisa works up the nerve to apologize. She still helps you out with the question in class which is plenty to tell you she's friendly and not a cunt but is just struggling to say those tough words no one likes to say. This isn't rocket science.
>>2278335I played CS1 and 2 before Sky and Crossbell and I didn't have much problems. You can read on the lore in the school library or ignore it and just play. That said, playing it in release order would be the best.
>>2278368tbf, the event is later described as rean lunging himself towards alisa trying to catch hernot that it excuses alisas exaggerated behavior but it wasnt a total accident either
>>2278386Based. I haven't bought a western game in years.
Should I pull the plug?
>>2278386>I need flashy combat, sexy females, heavy metal soundtrack and bright happy delightful anime worlds Why aren't you playing Ys then? Made by the same devs.
>>2279341https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TXHtkHlLcxQSame devs as Trails i mean
>>2279346As if most Trailsfags bother with Falcom's other games.
>>2279349Want to try out other falcom games but i already downloaded other games not to mention i plan to play hajimari again in maybe 6 months after menu anon improves his work.
>>2279338It's on GOG so it's DRM free.
>>2279468Gotta support my niche anime games if I want more of them
>>2279471Yeah Anon your $30 that's split between NISA and Falcom for an 8 year old game are sure going to matter to them, you're right champ go ahead and waste your money although I suspect you already have.
>get to Alster>some random literally whos from some drama cd and a manga are friends with some of the cast alreadyI hate this, but god damn this OST is so goodhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VekMorjnRuk
>>2279341>>2279346>>2279349Lol. Ysfags are the ones who don't play other Falcom games. Trailsbros love Trails so much that they go and play everything else once they beat CS4 just to continue getting their fix but Ysfags are all have a chip on their shoulder and won't play anything not Ys. BTW it's hilarious how Ysonlyfags hate Trails yet always leech off of Trails threads because their own threads always die.
>>2279492I've played more than you have, anon. Guaranteed.
>>2279508Guarantee you haven't, but sure whatever makes you feel better. Just because you (singular) have played more games than the average Ysfag doesn't change the fact that most Ysfags (collective) have. Retard.
>>2279516Yeah, keep pretending you care about Falcom's library at large.
>>2279508I've played>Trails in the Sky FC SC 3rd, Trails of Zero/Azure, Cold Steel I, II, III, IV, Hajimari with Spreadsheet>Xanadu Next, Tokyo Xanadu>Ys I II Dawn 6 Felghana Origin Seven Celceta 8 9>Ys vs Trails in the Sky>Popful Mail>Dragon Slayer: Legend of Heroes>Brandish The Dark Revenant>Nayuta no Kiseki>Zwei I and II>Guruminand all of it because i started with sky fccouldn't get the emulator to open so here are my save files
>>2279520>>2279519>>2279516>>2279508>>2279492Why would me enjoying a specific series means I should enjoy another series that plays differently and has different characters, lore, etc. just because they're by the same developers? It's a completely nonsensical argument to begin with.
>>2279522Ysfags are just mad that Trails threads get more posts so they invade every one of them and act obnoxious.
>>2279522It's called a healthy dose of gatekeeping. Too many Trails-only noobs joining the Falcom fandom these days and proclaiming they're like their favorite developer when they barely know shit about them.
>>2279492lucky for me, i love both series
>>2279527Don't act like there aren't Ysfags who only play Ys and 8 and 9 and suddenly act like they love Falcom. That goes both ways faggot but I don't see you bothering them because they chose to champion your favorite series. Fuck off.
>>2279527>nooo you have to play all the shit games to completion to have an opinion on a developer noooooooooooDamn you seem pretty upset over a characterization that totally doesn't apply to you and hit home pal.
>>2279528I do too but I just hate how annoying and unpleasant Ysfags get all the time. This isn't even an Ys or a Falcom general thread it's a thread about Trails yet there come in here and act like they own the place. Like I said I enjoy the games but the fanbase is incredibly bad.
>>2279529There's way fewer of those people out there.>>2279531Well, you certainly can't have a well-informed opinion on a developer from binging through a single series in several weeks, but that's how a ton of people have gotten into Falcom in the last two years.
>>2279527>You can't be a real Xenoblade fan if you haven't played Fire Emblem>You can't be a real Monster Hunter fan if you haven't played Breath of Fire>You can't be a real Dragon Ball fan if you haven't read Dr. SlumpSee how stupid you sound?
>>2279537What does Monolift have to do with Intelligent Systems?
>>2279535And yet it's the Ysfags that come into a Kiseki threads and try to patronise over a strawman, huh. Yes how dare people enjoy things.
>>2279538Oh my bad>You can't be a real Xenoblade fan if you haven't played Baten Kaitos
>>2279541Does bring to mind>You can't be a real Fire Emblem fan if you haven't played TearRingSaga
>>2279527I think it's because Falcomfags have circlejerked in their general thread for so long that they see every thread about a Falcom game as an extension of their general instead of a thread specifically about that game which is how the rest of 4chan works. /vg/fags are scum.
>>2279543meant to quote>>2279522but that first post is a prime example of what i was saying
I like Trails. I don't care about Ys. One of my friends likes Ys and doesn't care about Trails.
I'm fine with Ys and Trails sharing a thread. It encourages cross pollination and makes the threads more interesting anyways.t. trails fag that just finished Ys 1 and 2 and now working on oath in felghana
>>2279547then go make a shared thread retard i dont care about ys
>>2279527I'm not a Falcom fan. Most of their games are shit. I just like Trails.
>>2279539I'm less of an Ysfag and more someone who wishes Falcom went back to having some actual variety in their games instead of pumping out in the same two series ad nauseam - titles that have gotten more and more homogenized as of late. These guys used to be industry pioneers who experimented with everything from side scrollers that used D&D campaign modules to weird hexagonal grid-based strategy games. Seeing them release Trails games on an almost annual basis has gotten ridiculous. How the hell have their developers not burned out on this series?
i love girl rean bros
>>2279556go make your own thread to have a whinge and let us talk about trails no one cares about your pretend boomer larping you weren't japanese in the 80s
>>2279561you obviously care a lot anon
>>2279559Kuro release when?
What did she mean by this?
>>2279569pc next year with the spreadsheet, fuck nishit
>>2279556Because Falcom is a tiny studio with like 70 employees that are half a decade behind what's booming in the market, the best example being that it took them until 20-motherfucking-22 to have an internal Switch development team. They need to make money or they fold and Kiseki is their flagship series.>How the hell have their developers not burned out on this series?Staff turnover and the few that remain like Kondo are too into seeing how long the series can last until the studio goes under.>These guys used to be industry pioneersL o l.
>>2279561I'm talking even 10-15 years ago, anon. 2003-2011 Falcom is my favorite era. It takes way less of an acquired taste in retro gaming to enjoy Falcom games released around that time.
Stop responding to baiting retards already.
I'll make sure to write down all of you guys' opinions on Kiseki/Ys/Falcom in my Big Book of Shit No One Cares About. Now shut the fuck up and go back to /fg/.
>>2279559The smile that saved Kuro.
>>2279580Ash sucks and retconning Hamel is worse
>>2279573>They need to make money or they fold and Kiseki is their flagship series.I'd say that's harder to do when you put all your eggs in one basket. They're barely keeping up with releases as of late. Kuro had to get a bunch of unfinished content patched in after its launch. And now they're releasing another game in 2022. It's nuts.
>>2279591how does it retcon hamelits another guy that was there but its not like it changed what happened or changed loewe and joshuas story at all
>>2279594>establish like 7 games ago that there were only 2 survivors and their relationship is tragic blah blah>oh btw there were actually more survivorsIt's cheap, lazy, and ruins any impact it had since they don't care about consistency Maybe there were more survivors we don't know about? Who cares they can always force a connection that didn't need to be there
>>2279596they didn't know he was alive because it was a chaotic situation and its not like they could track every single persons whereabouts and status while trying to get the fuck out of thereand it literally doesn't fucking matter because what joshua and loewe went through happened because karen died not because "they were the only two survivors" and guess what another guy still being alive that they thought died doesn't change that at allit's really not as big of a deal as you make it out to be
>>2279599The words that the characters say are there because the writers want that dialogue, character aren't realIf they wanted it to be vague or uncertain then don't establish that there were only 2It's a retcon and lazy as fuck
>>2279602it exists so that there is a playable representation of the hamel tragedy in the party since it's so important to the overall plot of cold steel 3/4what is joshua going to join class 7? then you'd just be complaining that that's lazy
>>2279603I don't give a shit since Erebonia is over, literally all I said is that I don't like that it's a retcon because retcons are shit, you inbred gammon. Keep your strawman to yourself.
>>2279606It's not really a retcon it's just being mad that a number change because some one didn't have all the facts to begin with. Not everything that expands on the past in a work of fiction is a retcon so stop using buzzwords from 4chan you don't understand.
>>2279608>establish Xthen in sequel>X was actually YYes it is retroactive continuity, now please stop replying to me as you seem to lack core mental faculties and I don't give a fuck about your opinion.
>>2279603I mean, that's the problem, isn't it? They haphazardly shoved some rando into that subplot, made him an acquaintance of Joshua and Loewe, and then put him in New Class VII (well, not initially, but you know what I mean). Same goes for Juna, really. She basically didn't exist prior to CS3, and yet her backstory gives her a ton of convenient ties to the SSS and other important people and events in Crossbell.
>>2279610A retcon would be if Ash survived alongside Joshua and then Joshua just never mentioned it for some reason. Joshua not knowing some other guy survived isn't a retcon you fucking retard because it change anything in that story.
>TFW there will be another hamel survivor but lives in calvard seething at erebonia every single day as his background that he wants to destroy it once he gains powerKek.
>>2279559>Rean is best boy in Erebonia>Rean also makes for the best girlHow can that dork keep getting away with this?
>>2279569hopefully one year tops after hajimari
>>2280051won't happen, nisa are too incompetent or indifferent

>>2279571Just pray some dedicated anon will work on kuro's table and script files. Though i think kuro uses new engine and sen decompiler will surely not work on kuro files so it might be hard.
how are you guys dealing with waiting for Hajimari and kuro in english?
>>2281165I waited for four years to play SC and I've got tons of other games to play in the meantime.
>>2281165ive got a lot of work rn so i guess that keeps me busy enough to not think about hajimari that much
>>2281253>>2281253what was it, i can't see it
>>2281263I was intending to link some post in /fg/ about some update regarding menu translation in hajimari.I was a retard for not knowing it was not possible.
>>2281165i'll settle for the overlay and the spreadsheet, no way i'm waiting until 2023, even worse for 2025
>>2281165theres other games to play but none quite scratch that itch that kiseki does
>>2281358It was at this point that my faith in the dub was broken. Literally the lowest point of CS1-2.
