So, of all the JRPGs that take place in high school which one did it best?
>>
>>1618755
Mana Khemia was not half bad, but that was closer to college than high school.

The Trails of Cold Steel games have the best implementation of school. In the first one, you get to know the students and do quests for them like training them how to fight. In the second one you pick them up across Erebonia and they help run the airship you're on. You also solve their problems such as reuniting them with their family. In CS3 the old Thors students have grown up alongside Rean, and they have different roles in the game, like a businessman, the manager of a Radio station, an engineer and a museum worker. There's also new students in the school. Then in CS4 you get reintroduced to more old students.

Persona and cold steel, i would say cold steel did the events better as you could actually enjoy the school festival while persona does the 'go to school, study, go home, better
>>
Persona is just miles ahead in this department. It's the only JRPG that manages to make it feel like actual High School instead of a glorified battle arena
>>
>>1618755
Caligula Effect, because it’s all fake.

Are you saying high school isn't real
>>
persona does the actual high school simulation better with homework and studying and whatnot but cold steel actually develops all the students more and theres less generic student npcs
>>
>>1618813
Which one is the best though? As a PC only fag I can only play 4 or 3 if I emulate.
>>
>>1620782
all of them got their merits, 3 is a bit bareones in school events though
>>
>>1620782
5 runs great on my PC

no, rpcs3 has come a long way
theres some minor issues, but it’s totally playable

Emulators, retard.

>>

It's a PS4 game. There are PS4 emulators that actually work?

No.
>>
>>1620916
Is not 'no' anon, cold steel being a good school game is a fact, not to persona's level of detail but it its a good one
>>
>>1620921
>cold steel being a good school game is a fact
Because wandering around after school and talking to everyone on the Thors campus is school life. Persona did it better and then some.
>>
>>1620884
It's also a PS3 game.
>>
>>1620884
only P5R is a PS4 exclusive. Persona 5 launched on PS3.
>>
>>1620925
>Persona did it better and then some.
Honestly? No. Persona is a pretty shitty school sim. Especially Persona 5. Cold Steel has Rean's fellow alumni being actual characters that develop alongside Class VII. Whereas, the only non-social link student I can remember throughout all of Persona is Funky Student. Even in Persona 3 and 4 the club social links had the clubs as a backdrop to whatever drama the students were going through and were rarely relevant beyond 'I really want to do better in x'. Tests in Cold Steel are better for you actually having to seek out information across Thors, and you aren't carried by having a high intelligence stat.
The only thing Persona does better is having some school trips.

I've never actually heard of this one, it's a mech game too that's interesting
>>
>>1618763
I'll second this, MK is fun.

>development
lmao only Altina goes through development in the entire bloated cast of the series and she's missing during the first part of CS.
>>
>>1621016
You dont remember journalist girl from 5 or the lesbian from 3?

Artificial Academy 2
>>
>>1622378
Lies, literally everyone but Emma gets a arc in CS1, then they also get some stuff in CS2, in CS3 the first chapter is focused on Kurto, 2nd on Juna and so on
>>
>>1620925
Persona school is made of literal faceless npcs though, Cold steel at least made it so everyone had their own little story happening(at worse you have just 2 or 3 generic students), never mind the fact that you can actually enjoy the school festival while they are just cutscenes in P4 and 5, Persona is only better on actually showing the studying part and questions of school
>>
>>1623391
based, it's a fine game indeed
>>

Atelier Firis. You go there, do your exam, and fucking leave to never get back. Takes a whole 15 minutes in the school.
The majority of the game you just go and adventure. Have fun doing your thing. And getting some licenses for beating up big dragons or making an item as a test, instead of answering dumb questions by teachers. (those come during the exam mind you. Because that's how school works)

Firis is just this based.

P5 has been fully playable on an emulator since 2018. Only issue is that there were some broken textures depending on the build, but it took like 5 minutes to find and copy-paste the right one.

And you can still pretty much fail the entire written exam by having prepped the components beforehand to create a maximum quality ice bomb on the practical test. Which is damn-near trivial, since iirc the water is part of one of those nice self-referential looping recipe chains, so you can quality-boost it sky-high.

I remember journalist girl now, but I have no idea who the girl from 3 you're talking about is.
>>
>>1624405
The girl lusting for mitsuru near your classroom
>>
>>1625343
Yeah, I'm still drawing a blank. I don't doubt she exists or anything like. I just don't remember her.
>>
>>1625512
What about the stalker girl from 3? Or the stalker girl from 5?

Not real life, that's for sure

Story wise 3 is best, but 4 is better gameplay wise. 5 is probably the best of the three (though I think 3's main story is still best), but sounds like you don't think you can emulate it.
