This is great news, thought not surprising. Like anything with woke/tranny influence, it had no chance of being even remotely good.
A proper follow up to the incredible original game has a better shot now than it had over the last 5 years. They also deserved this.
Again, fantastic news.

The issue wasn't about them standing up for LGBT rights. Paradox got pissed at White Wolf because their attempt to do that was "The anti-gay death camps are ACTUALLY a conspiracy meant to distract the media from how vampires run Chechnya." White Wolf has a history of insane bullshit like that, so really it's just the straw that broke the camel's back. It's a result of their attempts to put fantastical bullshit into the real world and do it seamlessly where the fantastical bullshit is interacting with real, current events.

They always try to do pro-liberal messages that they bungle horrifically and end up with characters that are Nazis, murderers, pedophiles, etc. and end up offending EVERYBODY. White Wolf has spent years trying to make an edgy, counter-culture political game and failing horrifically. Nobody likes them. If you're right-leaning you hate their hamfisted and clumsy attempts at political messaging that treats anybody right of Lenin as a Nazi, and if you're left-leaning you hate that their idea of a strong gay character is a serial murdering rapist cannibal.

Just look at the controversy surrounding Beast and how it had a lot of outrage about how you essentially played as serial rapists, the victims that wanted revenge on you were the bad guys that just misunderstood you, the author of Beast was alleged to be a serial rapist, it was a pointlessly edgy attempt to make an "outcast" group that didn't fit into the setting, etc. It's not even the most extreme example of their bullshit, but it's very emblematic.
>>
>>1363929
>dice_dog lingo

>>
>>1363929
>Just look at the controversy surrounding Beast
I've always said that Beast is a fascinating read, if you read the whole book with "The writer is a pedo, and this book is about pedophilia" angle. Suddenly a whole lot of things make sense.
>>
At this point the game will need to sell 15+ million to get its development money back, assuming it ever releases
>>
>>1363708

It's interesting how this game and System Shock 2 remake are getting so much funding. Why do publishers think there is a market for ARPG-sims? The last word on them was that the latest Deus Ex, Dishonored and Prey games didn't sell so well. The ones that do sell well are "open world" scale like Elder Scrolls, Fallout, and Kingdom Come. I doubt these new ones will be that size so why do these publishers invest here?
>>
>>1363866
DNF also had lots of demos, that as far as we know are mostly complete, that never got released. I wonder if this game ever even got that far

Absolutely. It makes a ton of sense and really explains a lot of the thought process behind the absolutely insane bullshit in that book. It also feels in keeping with that tendency where a lot of incredibly vocal opponents of pedophilia are pedophiles, themselves. Or vocal male feminists being serial rapists/harassers, which I recall was another issue White Wolf ran into a lot. They had a habit of hiring the absolute worst writers with the worst moral character.

To be fair the werewolf fight is one of the most memorable part of the game, and it's not even about it being a good fight, it's not, it's just "holy shit werewolf"
There's also the fact that vampires and werewolves are always at each others' throat in WoD, though then again the furfags tend to be at everyone's throat.

This game pissed me off for several reasons
1. The developers injected SJW propaganda in a world where it wouldn't make sense
2. They announced the DLC before the game even released
3. Clans from the first game would not be present at launch
4. They didn't even bother polishing their demos or trailers

I feel like making a sequel to this game would have been so simple. All they needed to do was make a typical first person shooter, add in some spells, add a quest, and you got the best selling RPG for the next 4 years. Pic related was the stupid shit they were pushing. Imagine paying extra for your character to wear a gay leather biker vest or a miniskirt.

This studio is pretty much unknown, they made an online FPS that got closed a few years back. It isn't going to be CP 77 tier because most people don't care about this

VtMB is still in Russian /v/'s top 10 while it's fallen to like 85 on regular /v/'s. Russians seem to really like these older PC games, I was looking up VtMB videos on YouTube a while back a kept seeing Russian channels. For some reason Severance Blade of Darkness also had a lot of Russian players.

There was this one... weird interview (I can't find it at the moment, but I am sure anons know which one I am talking about) where this Cara Ellison person was bemoaning the fact that wanted to put a lot of "genderqueer" pronouns into the game, but was vetoed by a translation team on the basis of "bitch, we then have to translate this shit into other languages, and this whole idiocy doesn't work in languages other than English, so you are making our job insanely difficult". Then she got pouty and concluded that other languages are problematic and not progressive enough.

This. American politics ruins everything. In the 90s I was able to RP as ecoterrorist murder machine without any leftist talking points being crammed down my throat. America needs to hold that shit in like a fart whenever she is producing anything for the global market the same way I hold in farts at thanksgiving. You don't get to assume your country's (or state's) political perspective is reality for everyone everywhere. Also that is shitty writing by definition. Points of view, ambiguity, reader interpretation. These are what we in the writer's business call things.

I suppose that would explain why Mitsoda had such a favorable view of Ellison when she seemed to spend more time trashing the first game rather than praising it, but I don't think it has anything to do with something dramatic like that.

>>
>>1368358
>I don't think you can really recreate all the factors that helped build VtMB.
Of course you can't, but it really doesn't help that they've just decided that so much of the originals most important aspects were completely arbitrary and cast them out, instead aiming to just cram in trending and contemporary things in their place. Rik Schafer isn't going to be suicidal living on someones couch again, but I'm expecting the new soundtrack to be full of wub and hip hop, because that's what sell.
>>
>>1368428
But what's the point? She's just a nerd that wants to study occult books for eternity, hangs out with Beckett, provides a good PR for the clan and is good at her job. She's not even that well-off. She's too powerful for the high-gen vamps and too insignificant for the low-gen vamps to even care and she made a name for her by being competent and reliable. Pulling off a 3D game on a shoestring budget requires either superstars like Troika had, or people with experience at doing it. Regardless of politics this studio wasn't either.

They should have given this to Cyanide or Dontnod ... it probably wouldn't have been good, but it would have shipped with reasonable graphics.

They waste time on that crap to be sure, they damage otherwise decent storylines and characters to be sure, but all that is just the shit icing.

The real crap cake is the simple fact that hiring based on things other than merit puts them in this position of too many talentless hacks to carry and not enough production under deadlines. There are some parts where the actual character starts talking, when they're reading something in the level and when you're offering the gems at the temple. She has a kind of Scandinavian accent I guess. And the voice actress for her also did the goddess Ianna. The game actually has pretty good voice acting.

Do you think they're going to start the game from scratch or just hand it off to a more competent team and give them time to try and fix what they can? I would've liked seeing VtMB2 on Source 2 instead of Unreal and if it actually tried to keep up the gothic atmosphere but I can't see Paradox just throwing away all that time and money they've already spent.
>>
>>1372631
Nah, they next team will quickly slap something together from the existing resources to just shove this cursed thing out of the door and forget about it.
Paradox can't be arsed AND can't afford to revamp the whole project, at this point they just their money back.
>>
>>1372646
Yeah that's what I think too. Just getting the game to a playable state won't really be enough for me though, I feel like it has a lot of other problems that are unrelated to the jankiness. Supposedly Paradox wants to turn it into a big franchise and I don't think VtMB2 will kickstart that. At this point I think they would've had more success just porting VtMB to an up-to-date version of Source and fixing things that the Unofficial Patch still hasn't been able to. I haven't bought a game in years but I would've bought that for $60.

Just porting it to new engine so you don't get loading screens every time you enter/exit a house would make people interested in it. Also did you know for many buildings in VtM:B their interior and exterior don't match at all? You probably did because it's one of the games where it's extremely obvious
I don't think they would make it desu, during Bloodlines 2 development they said many things in the first game were problematic. They wouldn't re release it
>>
>>1372685
>Just porting it to new engine so you don't get loading screens every time you enter/exit a house would make people interested in it.
Better mod support would probably drive interest up too. VtMB is already starting to get decent custom content but with proper mod tools it would be great.

>Also did you know for many buildings in VtM:B their interior and exterior don't match at all? You probably did because it's one of the games where it's extremely obvious
You mean in size? I never thought about it much. I think it would've been hard to make them match because a lot of the exteriors feel like they were influenced by gothic architecture which I really like, and it would've been hard to make the interiors feel like normal spaces when trying to match that.

> during Bloodlines 2 development they said many things in the first game were problematic.
That was mostly Cara Ellison and to some extent maybe Mitsoda, along with "journalists" and SJWs just looking for things to complain about. I don't know how much Paradox themselves really care, but with the way people are talking about the V5 books maybe they think it's a worthy audience to target. Would be nice if they stopped caring what these people think because despite all their support it's been a huge failure which should tell them something.
>>
>>1372565
There were articles back in 2020 that said Seattle was so hot that people were getting severe burns, and then you get some anons saying that Seattle is too cold for them.

I'm starting to think Seattle is a hellhole. Why the fuck would you want to spend eternity there?

This is just good pr the current media loves to write think pieces and this keeps the game in attention when you don't have a lot or gameplay to show

For some reason everyone I knew had a (pirated, naturally) copy of this game back in the early 2000s or knew a guy who had. And it's a good game. Hence the popularity in Russia. When I finally got internet I was surprised to learn it's relatively unknown to the rest of the world.

when they dropped Nosferatu so their intended snowflake audience wouldn't get offended for playing uggos, i don't think they had any insight about them shaming uggos which would inevitably give said snowflakes some ammo for a witch hunt. Still, dropping the Nosferatu is a massive red flag for it being shit when they're one of the most fun runs in the game
>>
>>1377442
They did say Nosferatu would be added later in a free update. It wouldn't surprise me at this point if they knew the game was in such a sorry state that they couldn't possibly get Nosferatu in without having to delay the game even more.
>>

Tbh discussing this is pointless at this point because it's vaporware anyway but I doubt a clan that requires a sewer system and unique reaction from every NPC would be a free dlc man. It happens, but certainly under different circumstances than this.
It's not uncommon for a Pub/Dev to give Team B's project to Team A, if Team A just finished up something, and Team B can start something else.
We'll see who they end up giving it to and what happens to HSL down the line, but this seems more like "Give Team B's project to literally anyone holy fuck we're hemorrhaging money on this huge franchise with nothing to show for it" which I can't say I've seen before.

It's definitely a crazy chain of events. They went from firing the leads out of nowhere, to bringing in some Ubisoft consultant to clean house, then six months later just sacking the developer altogether. What a trainwreck.
>>
>>1378691
My god I really want to know what they had in their hands.
