I know virtually nothing about light guns newer than the ones released in the 1980s. I'm interested in playing this game, but I'm unsure if the original PS console light guns like the NAMCO GUNCON will work on my PlayStation 2. The game itself will work, but I'm not sure about backwards compatibility in regard to the accessories.

They will. Some PS2 games are even compatible with the Guncon 1.I'm not sure if the Guncon1 is compatible with this game though...I think you need a Konami Justifier or another "normal" gun.
