Many CRT monitors have much higher resolution than 1080p, and have more focus, uniformity and convergence adjustment zones than "fake HDR" LCDs have dimming zones, so they're solved problems. Picrel is an older model, some Eizos went up to 256 adjustment zones.

The orange SCART is AV2, with S-Video instead of RGB. The black one is AV1 and it supports RGB.If you look at other Sonys, they often have the AV1 SCART socket in black and the others in orange. More than one socket with RGB support is pretty rare.Also, I've come across a Sony that had two SCART sockets and strangely RGB didn't work on any of them. I think it was broken though, maybe the CVBS/RGB mode select pin was shorted to ground or something.

The analog boards themselves are not super complex but you do need to know what you're doing because some of the capacitors can kill you (be sure to grab a high value resistor and short it across any of the large capacitors you find for a few minutes each). I do find taking photos helps me avoid headaches later on when putting things back together, so I would recommend doing it. As a kid I only owned CRTs with curved screens. As an adult the opposite. I guess because I've never seen or used them side by side I have no clue which is inherently better or if it ultimately matters at all. Seems more or less the same to me.
