just watched the dragons lair episode. seeing more than two screens of that game was bizzare. they designed an actual game with different paths and bosses when most people cant even get past the first screen. cant believe he actually beat it.
the bit where two guys literally act out a boss from the game was hilarious, i dont know why japs do this weird "real life training" stuff but goddamn i love it.
any of the newer episodes you guys particularly enjoyed? im just getting back into game center cx.

Both the European and Japanese Dragon's Lair are easier than the American one, most of the "impossible" memes are about that version because it's the one the ecelebs played.

Because it's a TV show and they're trying to be entertaining. Clearly it worked.

Also want to point out that Ogawa is ungodly hot in the Kacho x Family segment. The high class setting and clothing really fits her. Dating a Japanese noblewoman is a big fantasy of mine. I immediately had a fantasy about dating the pink haired daughter, and the mother seducing me as she gazed at me over her tea.

For the segment itself, they look at strange controllers. Ep 348 they looked at the Taito controller for Power Shovel, an excavator game. I had hoped they'd formally challenge the game since it's a neat concept but this is the best we're likely going to get.
>>
>>9440380
>The next episode is a Mario game. They are finally doing Sunshine?

Yes, it's pretty obvious. They didn't know how long the show was gonna go so originally they did a Mario game every season. They quickly burned through to Mario 64 and then had almost no Mario games for years until they started doing the GameBoy ones.

Mario 64 and Sunshine are dull games to challenge since they're mostly adventure titles and not skill based action games like the 2D ones. It's mostly just going through the motions and collecting things.

Sonic Adventure would be a more interesting title.

>>9441023
Definition of general audience show, which is why they put the violent games as DVD only. They mostly focus on family friendly games, and will accept some violence but only if it's green colored blood.
>>
>>9443124
Sunshine should be pretty fun actually, it requires the player to complete the first 7 missions of each level to beat, so there's no pick-and-choose gameplay like in 64 and Arino will be forced to do all the standard levels. And there's some fun shit there, like the obstacle courses and the sand bird.
>>
Did Arino seriously get filter'd by Mario 1 and 3 during the early days of the show?
>>
>>9443135
Sunshine is the moment I gave up on the 3D Mario series, and I never went back to be honest senpai.

>>9443138
Correct. They have momentum physics which screws him up. He's very quirky about what he has trouble with and what he doesn't. It's also why he can't do vehicle or racing games very well.
>>
>>9443138
He didn't struggle that much with 1 from what I remember. 3 and World, though...

Arino + momentum physics just don't agree.

>>9443148
I see. I haven't watched a lot of the show, just checking the wiki page right now. He told Iwata that Ninja Ryukenden is the hardest game he's ever played and yet he beat all three of them, weird
>>
>>9443157
He did say it was harder than Ghosts n Goblins and he never beat the final stage by himself, he either used ADs or in the case of Messe, save states.
If the game had limited continues, he'd have never have beaten it.
>>
>>9443138
He still got filtered with the original game since they had him play it for live show in season 17 and he failed on the last stage. He then tried to finish the game for the Budokan show, and he nearly derailed the entire thing with how much he struggled.
>>
Super Mario Bros is a lot harder than people tend to remember it is. A lot of the reason they don't find it that hard is because they played it to absolute death as kids.

Power Shovel ni norou was also featured in S21E19/#255 as part of the educational games minicorner they were running that season (I only know because I watched it last week).

This previous segment was playing it using a PS1 controller, rather than the special peripheral you posted (I've not seen anything from the current season yet). When asked pic related at the end, Arino replied he'd like to challenge the game on the show.

I for one think it'd make for a great episode and wish they'd do more PS1/Saturn stuff because they're pretty much scraping the bottom of the barrel with Famicom games with what remains from there at this point.
>>
>>9445250
>Famicon
It feels like all the interesting stuff for the famicom is being blocked off by licensing issues.
Still surprised they did Metal Gear Solid before Metal Gear.
>>
>>9445260
Metal Gear is an MSX game, they don't do MSX on the show.
>>
>>9445274
Metal Gear got an NES port and before you play stupid, it was featured in the Game Collections, so they do have a copy.
>>
>>9445274
>they don't do MSX on the show.
They should. The MSX is just a glorified game console anyway.
>>
>>9445279
Only westerners associate Metal Gear with its awful Famicom port. Konami considers that port black history and probably don't want it featured either.
>>
>>9445306
Only Kojima does. Konami in general doesn't give a shit about it as long as they can get some money out of it.
>>
>>9445306
If that was the case they would have blocked it from being in the game collection.
>>
>>9445250
>they're pretty much scraping the bottom of the barrel with Famicom games
Nah, they still have some AAA titles to pull from. They still haven't done Mega Man 6, Castlevania 2, Double Dragon 2 or 3, The Battle of Olympus, or Chester Field. There's also adventure games like Akuma no Shōtaijō(Uninvited), Shadowgate, and Deja Vu, which all were released on the Famicom. I know Power Blazer isn't considered as good as Power Blade, but it's still a very decent Mega Man-ish game. He hasn't played Hebereke, Cocoron, Castle Quest, or that Kunio-kun Ice Hockey game. They aren't scraping bottom yet. You'll know they're scraping bottom when they do that horrible Lupin the 3rd NES game.
>>
>>9445309
First point still stands. Famicom Metal Gear is not what nips consider Metal Gear to be.
>>
>>9440380

>Mega Man 6, Castlevania 2
Agree at these should be covered for completion

>Double Dragon 2 or 3
Please no, the only thing more boring than

>The Battle of Olympus, or Chester Field.
Never heard of them, looks like a pair of fairly unappealing Zelda 2 clones.

>There's also adventure games like Akuma no Shōtaijō(Uninvited), Shadowgate, and Deja Vu, which all were released on the Famicom.
I've never seen the appeal of adventure games on the show, it's like watching an abridged version of a very bad movie with a bit of commentary on top. At least the post-SFC ones usually have some small bits of gameplay in there as well.

>I know Power Blazer isn't considered as good as Power Blade, but it's still a very decent Mega Man-ish game.
Might as well do Mega Man instead then.

>He hasn't played Hebereke, Cocoron, Castle Quest
These would indeed be great

>Kunio-kun Ice Hockey game. They aren't scraping bottom yet.
The whole Kunio-kun franchise is bottom of the barrel IMO.

>You'll know they're scraping bottom when they do that horrible Lupin the 3rd NES game.
Can't say I know it but if they can find anything as terrible as the Oishinbo game I say bring it on!!
>>
>>9446082
Uninvited and Shadowgate have pretty fun puzzle gameplay. Deja Vu is mostly just clicking your way through the plot though (and the NES port sucks)
>>
Which will end up accidentally having something funny in it first, Jerkcity or this trash?

99% chance of Sunshine. 1% chance of Mario Land 3: Wario.
>>
>>9450424
Why would they go with later repeats? And if it's quality, why wouldn't they just record the original broadcast?
>>
>>9451113
I guess if the original broadcast wasn't recorded in the desired quality, a repeat gets subbed instead. It would be nice if they could splice the end parts onto a repeat or something, even if the quality is different.
>>
>>9451113
Subbers use 720p/60FPS raws whenever possible and some of them happened to be sourced from the re-runs.

I guess they are going for what is the objectively best-looking video, even though you can't win them all in a situation like this. Some people will complain about Nigoli's raws looking like shitty YouTube rips, others will complain about bloated 60 FPS raws that are missing 20 seconds of (mostly) nothing content.
>>
>>9451135
>60fps
Who needs that for a TV series?
>>
>>9451318
60fps for gameplay which is what the games run at. I have no clue why they downscale from 1080 to 720 though. That's uneeded.
>>
>>9451350
30fps is fine though, it's a TV show.

>>
>>9449080
I would say he's actually getting less help now than he did back in the day. There were times when people like Sasano or Nakayama were literally beating games for him.
>>
>>9452742
It was Sasano and Urakawa who did the heavy lifting.
Unless you're counting the Fatal Fury episode where Arino did beat the game for him.

>>
>>9451350
Because it's interlaced, not true 1080. You don't have to look at ugly interlacing bands on the 720 version.
>>
>>9454754
That's a lie, they're perfectly watchable, I'd rather fan subbers not waste their time retranslating episodes when there was such a huge backlog existing already.
>>
>>9454760
Depends on the episode, some are passable while others are really shitty.
>>
>>9454760
But you can just watch that backlog raw. Just because there's no text at the bottom of the screen doesn't mean the episode isn't perfectly watchable. You're not understanding what's being said in either case.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but the challenge itself wasn't anything to write home about. The Tamage was a snore fest until the end when Arino played Taisen Hot Gimmick. 2P without honor or humanity is one of the best segments, but they muff the ending by having Arino hold the gun to Tsuruoka's head rather than letting him put the trigger himself.
And finally it was Watari's last episode as the support AD, and it felt really out of place this was the one time they had him dress up.

Kunio-tachi no Banka was a much better challenge and Tasuku made the best delinquent.

>Marchen Maze
The only time Yamada was mentioned outside of the first episode.
It makes you think how different things would be if he remained the original AD and Toujima became the 2nd AD in season 2 over Sasano.
>>
I was wondering why there was no GCCX thread recently, and it's because I had OP's image filtered.

>Sega Master System game out of nowhere

3DO bros... is there still hope?
>>
>>9463417
Still sealed forever for good reason after the Wacky Races game.
>>
>>9463417
>>9464128
3DO was one of the consoles they specifically said would be allowed after Season 18. They should've done something by now.
>>
>>9463417
For 3DO titles there are some okay multi-plat games, some horrid games, and a few nice games. Only Mister Hauzer and the Alone in the Dark ports seem worth their time. Only question is that Mister Hauzer is like a 35 minute game. How long would it take Arino-san to finish? Alone in the Dark also is PG enough to be a broadcast rather than DVD only challenge.

Does he pretends to play like shit first-party Nintendo games just so they can divide into 2 episodes?
I just watched the Donkey Kong Country episode yesterday and it's clear he's dying on purpose
>>

DKC was known for being a tough game back in the day.
>>
>>9464982
Maybe. I remember being that bad at it when I was 7 years old.

He can beat Ninja Gaiden, Ghosts 'n Goblins and even kusoge like 53 Stations Of The Tokaido but takes almost an entire day just to reach the mine cart stage in DKC
>>
>>9465346
1. He isn't good at games, he can "beat" games only through just grinding at them.
2. AD's helped a lot with those games, especially Ninja Gaiden.
3. He's kind of a retard in an adorable way.
4. He often has difficulty with weird random games.
>>
>>9464982
He has trouble with momentum based physics in particular. You notice it when he plays games that have a reliance on momentum mechanics, such as Sonic or racing games.
(I'm not actually that guy, just having a laff. I love you Momentum Physics Blaming Bro)
>>

>Beat Ninja Gaiden
Unlimited continues and he used the joycard and relied heavily on the ADs at the end.
>Ghosts n' Goblins
Unlimited continues and relied on ADs to clear the 2nd playthrough until the final boss
>53 Stations Of The Tokaido b
He never beat it

Donkey Kong County is different where while it has saves, they're only at certain points so your progress will be erased depending on where you are.

Not gonna lie, I fell asleep during the DKC1 and 2 episodes.
>>

DKC3 eps will probably be another 3 parter.
>>

Only if the game crashes and they decide to do the bonus levels to fill time.

Good news it's not Sunshine, as that'd be a two-parter for sure. That gives hope we can close the season out with some nice games.
This season for whatever reason they've shunned the SFC.

They seem to be in a pattern of one Saturn and one PlayStation game per season. I hope they increase that a bit. Especially since the Saturn game this time around wasn't very impressive and was an isometric game that mostly could have been done on the Mega Drive.

I hope they do more shooters with story segments, as well as adventure games.

I dunno if you're a coping white trying to keep others away, black or asian but the women still adore tall white men with light colored hair and rare eyes.

What's wrong with two-parters? Personally, I'd rather have the show do something more ambitious than more 8-bit and 16-bit action games.

The Mario 64 two parter was a slog, with the only highlight being the tamage sections. The actual game is mostly juts going through the motions rather than actually challenging thus boring to watch. Sunshine is more of the same.
>>
>>9470382
Sunshine is a lot more linear, which I think works better for GCCX. Mario 64 is a lot more faffing around and stumbling over shit and half the game being optional.
>>
>>9470439
Sunshine also has bizzare difficulty spikes out of nowhere. Arino-sama might get stuck on them and be forced to try to get other shines.
>>
>>9470382
I liked it personally. It's definitely more memorable than having Arino play a Famicom platformer #563, at least for me.
>>
Any good complete (or mostly complete) torrents in 480/720p? The few I have found are missing a ton of episodes, and getting episodes individually is a gargantuan task at best and a fool's errand at worst.
>>
I really want to see Arino play one of the old Megami Tensei games, like MT1, MT2, KMT, or one of the mainline SMT games. Seeing him react to all the dickish demon conversations and the other random bullshit throughout the game(s) would be fun.
