>>9146782Is there any handheld with good RTC support for GB/GBA?
New retroid is here.
>>9146782I really like PowKiddy's V90, it was what got me into SEGA CD and Turbo CD games. Most of the time I just play pic related though
>>9146782>>9146785>widescreen for retro gamingEw, no thanks
>>9146803Not him, but there's Genesis Plus GX Wide, widescreen options for PS1 and Dreamcast (and N64 iirc), and PSP in generalPlus native Android ports of some of the Square games and stuff like Sonic CD
>>9146802I like the portability of the V90 but it's just too weak.
>>9146810Yeah no thanksAlso, I’d rather have letterbox for a few games than pillarbox for majority

X86 bros – Ayaneo Air (5560U + 512GB) or Steam Deck (256GB variant)?
>>9146785Same specs as the RP2+, better form factor, more RAM for $10.
>>9146785I hope it fixes RP2+'s problems.
>>9146941>Same specs as the RP2+, better form factor, more RAM for $10.you can literally see on the website that they upgraded the hardware
>>9146962Read it again.Compared to the RP2. NOT the RP2+.The RP2+ uses the same Unisoc Tiger T310 SoC as the RP3.
All I want one of these for is GB/GBC and GBA games so I might get a RG351MP eventually. Already have a Vita for PS1 games. I hear a lot of good things about it, specifically the weight and feel to it. I know it's outdated but its the only one of these devices which doesn't look horrendously ugly to me.
>>9146905Vertical games are still 3:4 anonThat screen is stretched which will make those games even harder than they already are
>>9146784My 351P seems to hold the right time just fine but I don't play Pokemon.
>>9147016wtf is that?
>>9146989Yes, it’s simply a rp2++.
>>9146989>>9147082Oh fuck that"s a fuckig scam
>>9147052Some chinese dude frankensteind his lg wing in 2ds styled shell.
>>9146782Does the function button on the 353p actually get in the way? Seen some people post that they accidentally hit it a lot, dunno if there is something wrong with them or it's actually a problem. Another concern is that the battery is right next to the CPU which seems dangerous if the CPU overheats?
This console has grown on me despise initially thinking it was ugly https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tJR0Evx3KS0
Is the Miiyo Mini actually good? It gets recommended so much everywhere that I feel like they are paid shills or something. It looks way too small to actually be playable for an adult man, but I do want something similar for GB/NES/SNES games.
I know the RP3 is just a repackaged and overclocked RP2+, but DESU I think it's pretty neat for nearly the same price (which was already great). I like the slimmer proportions, the d-pad on top (and the fact it looks like the godtier Vita d-pad), and the fact it's good to play PSP plus probably some widescreen Dreamcast and PS1. The fact it seems to play additional PS2 stuff and has a proper analog stick on the right is also nice.idk. if I didn't already have a RP2+ I'd probably buy this and cancel my Odin Lite order. As it stands I guess I'll be using my RP2+ for 4:3 stuff and my Odin for 16:9 stuff, but I really prefer the d-pad placement of the RP3.
>>9147113this thing is so ugly
>>9146941thats a scam. RP2+ chip is ok for the price but I dont think its capable of utilizing that widescreen to the fullest potential. They should invest in snapdragon chips and make a more premium product.
>>9147118It is good for short sessions when you're outside. As a main handheld, not so much.
>>9146803>another retard that wants every new device to cater to the same consoles that everything else can already playJust fuck off already
>>9147271Are you a retard? What is the name of this board?Even 6th gen games were majority 4:3
>>9146785>>9146941>>9147082Why is this thing over $100?The RP2+ was only worth it because of its sub-$100 price tag, and that was a year ago. The components have only become more affordable since then. This is reaching Anbernic levels of bullshit.
>>9147283Don’t buy it then?If you think manufacturing is solely worth its components then you are deluded
>>9147295Not him, but I don't really understand the market they are targeting here. Wouldn't it be way better to spend a bit more and get an Odin Lite if you want something for higher end gaming? I'm of the camp that thinks a handheld is borderline useless if you can't fit it in your pocket. If I'm at home, I have other ideal options to play games. Clearly people disagree with me, but then again, I've never seen a modern handheld video game console outside. I used to see Gameboy's and DS's all over the place.
>>9147113if it gets in your way remap it in jelos. turn it into a hold + button combo function.
>>9147150why? oh I see. you dont like curves because you dont like women.
oh shit bros its coming and so am I
>>9147310>Wouldn't it be way better to spend a bit more and get an Odin Lite if you want something for higher end gaming? If you want to play shitcube and more PS2, yes. Otherwise the smaller size, lighter weight, and having the d-pad on top with the RP3 might be more attractive. Well, that and the fact it's $100 cheaper (Odin Lite is $225 minimum now because of the fuckery they found with the unit at 4gb).Personally I don't see the appeal of putting a handheld in my pocket since when I'm out it's because I have shit to do and already have to have keys + phone in my pockets. That said, the RP3 looks pocketable to me coming in around the same size of my phone or the Vita 2k.
RP2+ is the only good one. all the others are weak as fuck, look retarded or cost as much as a switch or cheap laptop.
>>9147402Fake news but I agree the RP2+ is stellar.
>>9147402RG351V is really good for that game boy feel but ya android is supreme
Can I run the PSP version of Tactics Ogre on a 351MP or is that a pipedream?

>>9146941>Same specs as the RP2+WTF is the point then?>better form factorlmfao they didn't even put start and select on the front of the device.I'll wait for the RP3+

>>9146782Been playing Link to the Past.I can kind of recommend the RGBMAX10 2. Good shape, decent controls, will do up to gen 4 no issue and PS1. Even a little Dreamcast, but N64/Saturn/PSP is hit or miss. Bonus for it though it does use symmetrical sticks so dpad/buttons are aligned right for retro games.I find with these things if they have a good design/ and screen size they lack the power to hit Dreamcast/PSP to use the second stick or 5in screen. (Retroid is a good example, can play those but its 3.5in screen is too small and 4:3, RGBMAX has the screen but can't really pull of the later games)If they can hit GCN/PS2 then they are usually too huge and those games are little less portable friend in design anyway. I hope for an RGBMA10 3 that hits just enough power to get PSP going and that would be all I would want.
>>9147669The leveling system in the original is shit.
>>9147930rg353p. I was given like a month expected delivery date but on day 11 its already gone from china to airport to ups to usps.
>>9147580CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE
>>9147930it'll be worth the wait
>>9148102Kino. What are your controls in Doom like for this? I was thinking L2/R2 for turn left/right, but maybe the the slider is better than I'm expecting.
>>9146989That's dirty. People are going to assume it's 20% better than the 2+ because why wouldn't it be
>>9146785Hope that turns out to be real. RP2+ was so close to being the right device. Good price and could do Dreamcast/PSP, but its screen was too small for those games and its asymmetrical sticks weren't ideal either. That better design combined with its power would be perfect if the price stays decent. Especially over stuff like the RG552 that goes long and over powers into a silly price range.
>>9148108the slider is my only complaint with the system but i would probably never use it anyway since 99% of older games dont need it. for doom i use R1 and L1 for strafe, R2/L2 for switching weapons, move with dpad, shoot with A, use with B and run with Y. takes a little while to find the perfect config, played around with stuff like R1 for shoot and moving with left analog but this setup has been the most comfortable for me consistently.
>>9148150I dont like it at all. looks like another shitty anbernic now and the lack of a new chip is just icing on the turd cake. IMO the RP2 shell is perfect and I have no complaints with the screen on the +. changing to 16:9 was a big mistake. ill sooner buy another RP2+ if this one ever dies on me than an RP3. it's basically perfect.
OP you probably already have the best handheld and just don't realise itJust add a controller to your phone.
>>9148175stop.
>>9148150>Hope that turns out to be real.anon plshttps://www.goretroid.com/collections/frontpage/products/retroid-pocket-3-handheld-retro-gaming-system
>>9148193>home button on the fucking side of the unit>HDMI out still isnt centeredso dumb
>>9148157If you say so. But RP2+ can do PSP, any more power and you are breaking into low end GameCube territory so a stronger one doesn't make much sense to me.A correct controller layout is a plus. And a widerscreen means actually being able to use that PSP power or even NDS with side by side screens since Retroid actually has done a touch screen, where on the 3.5in you have to swap between them.Really the most ideal screen imo is a 5in with a 5:3 aspect ratio. Puts it at Vita size which is right at that border of any bigger is too big, but its big enough for NDS/PSP. 5:3 sits right between 16:9, 3:2, and 4:3 so closely you get very little border with any of them. But since nobody is ever going to make one with that much less common and rare aspect ratio I settle for 16:9 for PSP/NDS/Dreamcast. (seriously though 5:3 is the damn holy grail almost none of these have ever used)Really though if you don't want that aspect ratio then you wouldn't ever need anything past RP2+ anyway since it will do all the consoles that fit 4:3 anyway. So may as well get that and enjoy it now.
>>9148193Oh shit nice. The pic looked like a render as did the ones I googled so I wasn't sure. I like the dpad and I guess if its the RP2+ hardware or similar a Linux version should roll out fast. Hope the home/vol aren't too easy to hit though, thats a little odd.
I just want a 351 model that runs n64 and psx better.
>>9148203I think Retroid knows that going for something higher end necessitates switching to 16:9 since you need some huge orders or money to get custom screen sizes which 4:3 won't cover and it would be understandable if the screen resolution is now 720p like most handhelds. Also, shouldn't the point of a RP3 be bringing performance close to Ayn Odin Lite/Pro into a lower price point where you can do what /vr/ considers retro? And even then, it's not perfect in terms of at least specifically with PS2, you don't have the horsepower with CPU cores to play games that need software mode. So there is a lot to improve with performance. But I can sympathize with the change in form factor not being for everyone.
>>9148278Yeah. I want Anbernic to go back to the basics and give us something small, cheap, and boxy again like the RG350 and 351, just with more power and stacked shoulder buttons
>>9148290AYN has a good hold on the large and powerful enough to do GCN/PS2 for the most part, area. We'll likely see them and maybe Retroid or someone else tackle that, but if they get too expensive then you move into Deck/DeckClone territory. Not sure Retroid can really chip into that since the AYN is decent on price for what it does. At 200ish they are really covering a lot of emulation for those okay with a big Switch style device. However the 100 - 150 range hurts for a do it all device. RP2+ has the power to cover anything under the level where you would just get an AYN Lite but a form factor that makes some of them not so great to use. Pic related has a good design to me, but it lacks the power to get past PS1 so the wider aspect ratio is a little lost on it. Feels like everything in the actually portable and affordable range is the right design but the wrong specs or the right specs and the wrong design for them. The brackets these seem to go into are:>PS1 and below>adds N64/Saturn>adds PSP/Dreamcast>GCN/Wii/PS2Its fairly easy to get a device for the PS1 and below RGBMAX10 2, RP2+, and most Anbernic are a good run there have plenty of design options. That top end AYN and above are starting to hit well. I find its the middle that just doesn't have the definitive device. But just my opinion. I'm hardly the end all of the market and I can only say I would like a portable device that can hit the PSP level and wouldn't want more as anything beyond needs a big screen to me and Switch size devices sort a suck as a frequent carry.
>>9148290>Also, shouldn't the point of a RP3 be bringing performance close to Ayn Odin Lite/Pro into a lower price point where you can do what /vr/ considers retro?I think that's the plan for the RP3+ at $160 or so. They used the same SoC in the RP1 as the RP2 and only swapped the SoC in the 25% more expensive RP2+, so it seems they like to introduce their new models with old SoCs.
>>9148334>Pic related has a good design to meanon pls
>>9148374Fuck me how did I forget the damn pic. It could use some better quality but the shape feels really good and it has enough space for everything. Closer to the PSP gold standard than the Nintendo feels of shit rectangle too much copies.

>>9148278PSX runs fine on mine, was playing Soul Reaver last night and as far as I could tell everything was running full speed.
>>9146785rp3 will probably run ps2 games. I like the size and form of the OG rp2+ though, it's small size is part of its charm
I'm kind of torn on the RP2+ and the RG353p. I don't see myself playing much past PS1 but the headroom on RP2+ seems nice, especially for arcade games. Just how much more powerful is it? The main reason I'm leaning towards the 353 and not RP2+ is because of the ergonomics/controls. The very rectangular shell doesn't seem that comfortable, as well as the d-pad. 353 seems way more comfortable, though the d-pad on this one looks smaller than other Ambernic devices. Also I can't tell if the Retroids have poor build quality of it was fixed with the 2+.

>>9149150It has the same processor. I don't think the extra ram is going to suddenly make ps2 playable
>>9149291That's the same resolution as the iPhone 6/6S/7/8/SE 2G/SE 3G.I'm guessing they're using unused iPhone screens. This is exactly what the Anbernic RG503 does but with PS Vita OLED screens.
I'm super tempted to buy a Nintendo 3ds LL. Can you flash an English firmware into that thing without bricking it?
>>9149446It's extremely hard to brick a hacked 3DS. b9s is a bootrom exploit and even if it gets uninstalled somehow (it won't) there's a backdoor called ntrboot.Anyway, you can read the steps of how to region change here.https://3ds.hacks.guide/region-changing.html
>>9149453thanks anone
>>9149139Not him, but despite everybody claiming things like this, I still run into occasional hiccups while playing PS1. Executing arts in Legacy of Legaia and whenever there's explosions on Fighting Force are two that come to mind.
>>9149634Oh yeah you still get slowdown when there's lots of special effects and stuff on screen (like when you get one of the level up balls in SOTN) but I figured it was like that on PS1 too lol. 99% of the time it's pretty smooth though which is noice
https://youtu.be/V-dSPVf9NIook
>>9150003it exceeded them!!
>>9146962No, they didn't. But I guess it sucks not being able to read. I understand, missing the + symbol is common from their marketing. What they are showing, is that the "improvement" is from the original RP2. The upgraded chip in the RP2+ is the same chip they are using for the RP3
>>9147118Maybe if you have little girls hands, it's trash to hold idk why people shill it so much, the screen is nice I guess
>>9148381The problem isn't that they can't make a device that can do what you want now, it's just going to be at a price that most people won't want to pay. The cheap SOCs are still using 2018-2019 tech at best outside of Ayn using Snapdragon and some Unisoc and Dimensity SOCs which also go into mobile phones. At which point, why not just get a phone?

>>9150942I like the screen on my OLED one, but it's kinda uncomfortable to hold. Maybe it's just my tiny hands or something though.
>>9150953nah thats jsut how it is imo kek, its heavy and has sharp edges, i dont get why people shill it so much compared to the slim, the slim has better battery and is much nicer in the hand, ive also seen a bunch of oled models have blotchy screens because the panels haven't held up over time, the colours aren't really that bad on the slim
>>9150958Feels like it'd be hard to give up the better screen, but if I ever find a cheap Slim I might compare and keep the one I like the best. Should probably sell off my PSTV anyways, so maybe I'll grab one when I do that.
>>9150969>Should probably sell off my PSTV anywayswhy do you not use it?
>>9150972I picked it up to play a few exclusives when they were super cheap, then grabbed my OLED Vita when Henkaku first came out.I prefer playing Vita stuff on a handheld, and emulators way run better on the old PC I have hooked up to my TV.
>>9150991Yeah i dont really play vita games on my pstv, think its a pretty nice machine for ps1 games though
I returned the Amazon Warehouse RG350P I got, just wasn't doing it for me. The Adam firmware was OK, but not great, and I'm just not autistic enough to tweak the shit out of everything, particularly since the screen can't scale anything at that low of a resolution. I think Android based is probably where I'll go instead, maybe I'll pre-order the Retroid 3. Being able to play a few Android games and just get RetroArch or standalone emulators doing what I want seems easier than dicking around with filesystems I can't even fucking read. Any insight is welcome, maybe these things just aren't for me. Even Diablo wasn't as cool as I thought it would be.
>>9151249shouldve bought a basedoid double plus like i told you to.
>>9151249Depending on what you're deal with on initial setup, Android might not be a good idea either. With a powerful enough Android device, you shouldn't have to worry about tweaking after initial setup though. My 351V with AmberELEC has been pretty nice without having to change much from the defaults. Hard to recommend getting any 351 at this point, but a 353P with JELOS is supposedly similar and has more power. Not sure if anyone here actually has one yet though.
>>9151412lol you're probably right man, you thin kthe 3 is worth the extra $20 if I don't have a 2+ to begin with? The 720p screen seems like a pretty big upgrade.>>9151451Fair enough, it might just be the OpenDingux jank... I was thinking Android because I could literally just run Android and say fuck it to whatever launcher. Just do it how I want to within the confines of that OS, which being a commercial, enormously popular thing, has lots of support.

>>9150813What's the loli game running on your GBC?
>>9151515>I could literally just run Android and say fuck it to whatever launcherRP2+ supposedly has a decent launcher with the AOSP launcher as a fallback, so if you're used to that you'd at least have something that works. If it's specifically the launcher you were having issues with though, I haven't had any issues so far in Linux using ArkOS or AmberELEC, so you might be right about OpenDingux being a little more janky as a base.
>>9151596It's more that I don't really want a modern "launcher" experience, which is why I went for OpenDingux to begin with, but the performance was better on Adam so I gave it a shot. I'm not verbalizing it well, but maybe a "stock"-ish Android experience and standalone shit or just using RA on Android would do it. I dunno, it's not like I can't afford to try it, I just obsess over this dumb stuff.
>>9151515the 3 has design flaws and i dont want a 16:9 screwn for retro games. the baseoid sprocket doublissimus plussimus 2-II(+++) doesn't have retarded shit like a home button on the side of the console, is the best unit this retard company has thus produced and at $99 is like the cost of one dinner and a movie in the year of our mohammed 2022. just get the basedoid or move on.
>>9151671The 16:9 screen is fine for me, I would use it as a general Android device, not just an emulator machine. PPI is higher too, afaik. The right slider on the 2+ seems lame?

>>9151814He probably wants to use widescreen hacks, but I don't think the RP3 has enough juice for that when the RP2+ is just barely managing 60fps-ish with frameskip at 480p as it is. Maybe it could utilize widescreen hacks in PS1 emus tho.

Bros I have a Retroid Pocket 1 that I've had since they first launched. Never bothered to upgrade it with the RP2 and RP2+ kits, been thinking about upgrading the OS now but can no longer find the software links from goretroid for RP1.I remember reading back then that upgrading Android from 6 to 10 (iirc was the version they offered) was a shitty "upgrade" and lineage OS had shit support, so I held back this entire time. Did things get better or should I just stick to Android 6?I mostly emulate PS1 with the occasional NDS games but some PS1 games chug a bit even after following guides on improving performance on these little shits.

>>9148102comfy as fuck
>>9153689If I've a 351MP does that mean I had my balls replaced with a metal shell because desu that seems like a fair trade
>>9148175I weighed that option. The existing shells would take up as much pocket space as my 3DS or Vita. On top of that, the games would be competing with the rest of the phone in terms of battery. The third point is not retro, but it helps to have the library native to those two handhelds on top of their emulation. I do hope the mobile market tries harder to compete with the rest of the gaming market, but currently their own library is sorely lacking.
>>9153692you admit your balls are a mere shell of their former self
>>9153689You own zero handhelds.
>>9152096nta but where can I learn more about the system's default and other available firmwares? All I find are videos on how to set them up but no deep dives or explanations of how any of it works or what does what.Going from a Miyoo to an Anbernic feels daunting.
I have my RG353P and love it, but it'd got a couple of issues that I think might not be firmware based. It sometimes doesn't remember brightness levels when booting the device. JELOS at least has a universal hotkey for brightness adjustment (L+Up/Down).More annoyingly, it sometimes fails to wake from sleep mode. Whenever this happens, it will result in loss of game progress as the only option is to hit the reset button.Anyone else experiencing these brightness and sleep mode bugs with their RG353P? I'm using the latest JELOS firmware, 20220804.
>>9153757The bug with the sleep mode seems to be fixed now https://teddit.net/r/SBCGaming/comments/wf5gwq/jelos_20220802_is_now_available_for_the_anbernic/
>>9153757https://teddit.net/r/SBCGaming/comments/wf5gwq/jelos_20220802_is_now_available_for_the_anbernic/iixvjbg/#c
>>9153763>>9153765That's firmware 20220802, two days older than the 20220804 firmware I'm running, and the sleep mode issue is still occurring. It's possible the issue regressed with 20220804, or that there's an unaccounted for variable in the issue.Such as the fix not applying properly when doing an OTA upgrade, versus doing a fresh install.I was actually able to reproduce the sleep mode bug with the stock firmware that Anbernic ships on their microSD card, which made me wonder if it could be a fundamental hardware issue.

>>9156276Nice. I think I prefer the form factor of the original GBA model, it's a bit more comfortable for me, but I can't trade in the backlit screen for it. I have no experience modding the GBA, and I don't even own an original model anymore, gave it to my sister quite a while ago.
>>9156319Yeah, they're more comfortable to hold, and I don't mind modding mine since the shell got messed up somehow while it was stored in my parents basement.

>>9156371there's no filtering, you are literally just so retarded that you think a shitty phone taking a picture of a screen will look like it does in real life while you ignore literally every other photo in the thread with the same artifacting. basedoid BTFOs yet another troglodytic phillistine
>>9156376But the rg351 picture has perfectly square pixels and fills the screen too, besides tiny bars on the bottom and top.Meanwhile, in the retroid pictures, there are fat pixels and squushed pixels, which happens when the device is not scaled properly, or there's some shitty filter applied. Just compare nigga, you have both pictures in the thread.
>>9155567Calling this a jailbreak is disingenuous. All this appears to be doing is running software on the weaker FPGA cores for GBStudio within the constraints that Analogue gave developers.A true jailbreak would be allowing ROM loading with Analogue's own software, and having full access to the full power FPGA cores.
>>9156346Most of these handle PS1 fine at this point. Someone has a spreadsheet somewhere with everything listed along with how well they perform, but a 351MP, 353P, or RP2+ is probably your best bet right now depending on what you're looking for.Emulators are bundled into the firmware for most of these, and you're going to want to run custom firmware for better performance when it's available.

>>9156395exactly. a real jailbreak would have it running their cores from their previous consoles also
Shit.
>>9156653BASEDTHE ORIGINAL COMFY DEVICEHad one years ago.
>>9156395Both FPGA cores are able to be used for developer / homebrew stuff now, they changed that policy when the latest firmware released. It's also pretty likely that these are actually Analogue's GB/C/A cores. Regardless, having an open platform with access to both FPGA cores is better than a "jailbreak" anyway. Just a waiting game.
>>9156653I wish you could still buy something in this exact form factor. It looks perfectly small.
>>9156742In which case then, yeah allowing full access to the FPGA cores without any sort of jailbreak is actually better. That said, there'll still be a preference to use Analogue's fully developed software rather than 3rd party cores in their infancy. The Retro Game Corps video demonstrated their shortcomings.Thinking about it, it would be really nice if the Analogue Pocket got something to dump game cartridges to internal memory, so that you don't need to play games with the cartridge slot loaded, that's the biggest flaw of the device.
>>9156782I'm with you, excited to not have to use my fucking awful SuperCard GBA flashcart at any rate. Still using my EverDrive for GB/C so I can play on real hardware if I want to. Hopefully more console cores are in the works; I imagine some of the open source MiST(er) cores will be ported at least, whether by the original authors or someone else.
>>9147118Good question. How is it for games like Super Metroid or Castlevania?
>>9157060That depends entirely on what your preferred setup is.As someone who owns a mini, the shoulder buttons are uncomfortable. Where it absolutely excels is games on consoles without shoulder buttons or games where the shoulder buttons don't need to be pressed much like say GBA Pokemon, DKC, 2D Zelda. For me with Super Metroid, I like having the dash button on R so playing SM on a Miyoo would suck. But if you like having aim up/down on l and r you'll have minimal issue. As far as Castlevania goes it depends. Some games use l and r for sub weapons, some just use up+whip for them.
>>9157192Gotcha, thanks. I might give it a go at some point since it's not too expensive to begin with. If I end up not liking it, I can always resell it or give it to somebody given how popular it is.
>>9155643Oh God no. I own one of those. So fucking awkward to play. Not reccomended. Get a 351p
>>9153757Sleep mode bug is fixed but also, you could have always volume up to get passed it
It looks like JELOS has added Dolphin support for RG353P and RG503.https://github.com/JustEnoughLinuxOS/distribution/pull/318Trying it on latest development firmware, it appears to support GameCube using a standalone build of Dolphin with no config options from EmulationStation. It won't launch Wii ISOs or WADs.Performance in a handful of games I tried quickly wasn't great, it would probably need additional tweaks like halving internal resolution, underclocking the GameCube clock, etc.It might be decent at playing a few very specific games. It seemed to play Alien Hominid very well actually, just a bit more slowly.I was hoping they might do Wii support too, I can imagine Mega Man 9 and 10 will probably manage to run on this thing.
>>9157343You mean pressing the volume buttons made it possible to force-wake the device or something?Firmware stable builds 20220802, 20220804, and dev build 20220805 (I think?) have all produced this sleep mode bug at least once, I don't think it's been eliminated.I won't consider the bug fixed until I'm able to go several days without the device failing to wake from sleep.
Feel like I'm super late to this party but I've had a Galaxy s21 for like 6 months now and I'm just realizing how fucking amazing this thing is for emulation.Whats the best controller for phones? I'm using an Xbox controller with a phone clip attached. While it's comfy as hell it looks fucking janky.
>>9157762>the best controller for phonesoh god whyplease just use a real gaming handheld
>>9157793Why would i do that when half of these struggle to run things my phone can? I already have a device that works better than most of them. Why would i spend more than i need to

>>9158487It's a GameSir X2, yes, the non-Bluetooth version. I also have the Kishi so I can compare them. The other anon was right, the Kishi has better sticks and has analog L2/R2 triggers, but the dpad and the face buttons are kinda mushy. It's not a good experience to play a platformer on a Kishi. But it's great for Gen 5 games and above. The GameSir has the absolute best dpad and face buttons I've ever used, hands down. The shoulder and trigger buttons are very good too, but not analog. The sticks are smaller and less precise I feel than with the Kishi. But the GameSir sticks are less bad than how bad the Kishi dpad is, if that makes sense. All in all it's a very good retro controller, too bad that the dpad is in the wrong place, that's the only flaw really.
>>9158516Thanks. I don't plan on playing anything past (maybe) Dreamcast on my Nokia, so the sticks not being as good don't bother me. Same with the lack of analog triggers.
>>9158516I'm pretty sure that's the same D Pad and buttons anbernic uses for the RG351 and I can confirm:Damn son these buttons do be feeling good to press

Sorry if phones aren't allowed in here, but I got a new phone plan and got a samsung galaxy s22. Is this phone any good for emulation? If so any recommendations? Im sort of a boomer who was still using an ancient not really smart phone prior to this.
>>9164658An iPhone 13 Pro Max or a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra
>>9164701What I mean is, what are the perks of a flagship? I don't understand what you get out of it which you don't get from a budget phone.
>>9164691Phones aren’t just allowed but the best option by far. Don’t listen to faggots. Not sure if you’re trolling but that phone is literally the fastest Android phone in the world, it’s orders of magnitude more powerful than the handhelds being discussed here. If you’re serious about using it for emulation, you should get one of those telescoping controllers that go around the sides of the phone, and which use a wired connection. It’s generally agreed that the Razer Kishi and the GameSir X2 are the best options. You’ll be able to emulate everything up to and including GC/DC/PS2.
>>9164707Mostly performance and the camera array. Both of those will be top tier even 3-4 years down the line. With a $800 “mid flagship” it would be outdated and stutter on the latest OS in 2 years.

It really sucks LG got out of the phone business. Since they were 3rd place there were usually great deals on their Galaxy/iPhone competitors. I paid $299.99 for a ThinQ V40 (comparable to Galaxy 9) unlocked only a year after launch. I'd still be using it if Sprint didn't shut down their network.

>>9159735Guys the vita sucks as an emulation handheld. It's got a 300Mhz CPU that can't emulate shit. All of the homebrew ports likely have Android ports as well. Plus if you want a decent quality one they go for an arm and a leg now. Stop trying to force this meme. It's not gonna happen.
>>9167982It's functionally equivalent to an iPad 2 with a better GPU, the hardware became worst than midrange phones by 2015.
Is the extra bit of RAM in the RP3 going to make any real difference in performance?

>>9167823>>9167892What makes jelos and arkos better than amber?
>>9163197Still too ashamed to buy a real dildo then?
>>9163883What percentage of psx games do you imagine it can play?
>>9168542NTA but more than you'd be comfortable playing. The shoulder buttons suck and there's no stick so that already limits things quite a bit. Think of PSX as a novelty on the Miyoo and nothing more. If you want reliable PSX get an Anbernic or RP2+.
>>9164231I remember wanting this so bad, but shit was sold out everywhere and preorders for the next batch had several months wait time. I'm glad Anbernic basically copied and improved the design with the RG351P.
>>9160513worth it to get an IPS 3ds? it seems like i can get a switch lite for cheaper than upgrade my 3ds with double TN
