ITT: Unique and experimental video games
>Lack of Love
>Chulip
>Captain Blood
>Vib Ribbon
>Mister Mosquito
>A boy and his Blob
>Killer 7
>Stretch Panic

I would like to further elaborate on unique and experimental videogames so I can came up with something. What do you mean by those? Weird mechanics? Weird settings? Weird graphics? Weird story? Your examples are not giving me any light so maybe a bit explain can fire up this thread.

Until then, maybe Bad Mojo can fit the criteria? A cockroach adventure game.

I would say probably games that don't neatly fit into a particular genre. Games that don't have many (if any) other games with similar mechanics.

>>9027535
You think Blaster Master and Bionic Commando are unique?

At the time of release Blaster Master was an interesting spin on a then-still-new concept, so yeah I'd say that's appropriate
>>
>>9027836
For the time. master blaster did a lot of interesting stuff with the little dude getting out of the space tank. Bionic Commando doesnt have a jump and relies on the hook hand thingy which is still pretty weird for a platformer.

Bushido Blade 1 and 2 are still the best duelling sims I've ever played

Is Rule of Rose really unique or experimental? The gameplay is typical for survival horror (except worse than most), and the dog companion thing had already been done (better) by Haunting Ground.
>suda51
Not retro, but Lollipop Chainsaw is a generic hack & slash too.
>swery64 (sic)
Spy Fiction isn't unique or experimental, it's quite a run of the mill MGS clone.

Since you mentioned Chulip, Moon is what I'd call a unique take on RPGs by some of the same devs. I'll also nominate Takeshi's Challenge for the list.

As >>9029493 mentioned, Kenji Eno also made some quirky games, including a game intended for blind people called Real Sound.

Excalibur 2555 AD. This game is so fucking weird. I haven't finished it yet but there's something about it that makes me want to, even though this game is comically bad.

"Experimental" just means failed.
If they were good, they'd be "firsts" or "trend-setters". Instead, they're one-off glimpses into how not to make a game.

A game by Japanese pop music producer Tetsuya Komuro where you control a flying shoe inside the guy's synthesizer in order to find some CDs that went astray.
