Looking to get a fight stick whats good, cheap and upgradable? wanted one for the saturn but they all look like ass so think I'll just put a saturn controller inside and wire the buttons up to the pcb. I was thinking of building one but cases are expensive
>>
>>8907607
Make your own fight stick instead of buying already existing one.
>>
>>8907610
all the decent cases ive seen cost like £100

Mayflash F300, it's cheap and upgradeable but not too cheap feeling if you wanna use it as is.
>>
>>8907618
is there much space inside? it looks quite small
>>
>>8907620
It's got enough space on the inside if you're adding a board or something. It's more of a mid sized stick since the small ones are way smaller than this one.
>>
>>8907624
cool i'll look up some vids on youtube later thanks
>>
>>8907616
Use wood or cardboard casing if you want to save money.

Here's your fight stick bro
>>
>>8907620
I would go with the F500 - has more space and has a metal plate to mount things in the top while iirc the 300 is plastic.
>>
>>8907818
is it worth paying extra for the elite version? I found an f500 used for £60, the elite is £125 and new f500 is £92

Get a Mayflash F500 Elite or a V2 and mod it.
Don't get in a hurry to put saturn guts in it. Give it a good long try on your PC or modern consoles. Try Final Burn Neo and MAME. Try fightcade.

>>
>>8907847
Get the used one and mod it with buttons of your personal color preference.

Don't forget to update the firmware of the stick to get the 2ms lag response.
>>
>>8907861
>Don't get in a hurry to put saturn guts in it
I will mainly use it for saturn though. I wont remove the board that its using i'll just wire the saturn controller up and leave everything connected i dont think it will cause any problems
>>
>>8907646
These always pissed me off. Why make this garbage when it would cost essentially the same to make a stick that was actually decent?
Although that one looks like it might have a mechanical joystick so that is better than they usually come.

I just ordered turns out it was elite anyway, I thought it wasn't because of the price, no idea why its so cheap kek
>>

>>8907875
You say that now, but soon after it arrives you will start wanting to play non-Saturn games with it.
>>
whoops >>8907881 meant for >>8907871
>>
>>8907881
That's a great deal for an Elite.
>>
>>8907884
X-arcade parts are flimsy knockoffs of real arcade parts and not that good. There are many better alternatives.
>>
>>8907875
>i'll just wire the saturn controller up and leave everything connected i dont think it will cause any problems
Look up some of the old discussions about people who have done this sort of thing. You need a coupe of extra electronics to do it right. IIRC the parts are a few diodes and costs pennies.
>>
any hands-on opinions on the egret 2 mini stick? probably overpriced for what it is but is it decent and usable for mame via usb? i kinda like the general vibe and i don't too much real estate in an arcade stick.
>>
>>8907929
I cant find anything mentioning extra components needing to be added, I dont get why diodes would be needed either
>>
>>8907957
>$85
skip
>>
>>8907895
This makes me sad. I love mine and have never had any issues with it. I suppose one could swap out the components in question. They're built like tanks.
>>
Considering picking up an used PS3 stick. Sure, they are ugly, but components are good and they’re still in good condition
>>
>>8908280
The madcatz ones for ps3 are supposed to be good
>>
>>8908312
I’ll be on the lookout for that brand, thanks

>>

>>8908312
I have the Madcatz Fightstick Pro. I'm not crazy about the metal bottom (doesn't feel great on the lap) and you need an adapter for newer consoles (PS4 and up, basically) but it works fine on PC and the parts are good.
>>
>>8907607
>good, cheap
pick one
>>
>>8907881
>no idea why its so cheap
Because it's C grade, which means it's beaten to shit and cum encrusted.
>>
>>8907607
how are you guys so dumb? just get a brooks retro board and put it inside a fight stick.
>>
>>8909094
I'll put you in a fight stick ya scrub.
>>
>>8909094
but which fight stick?
>>
>>8907607
Qanba RAF 4. Best Chinese stick I've purchased.
>>
>>8909094
does the Brook work with Saturn?
>>
>>8908280
I have a modded SF IV Mad catz TE I use through adapters on old consoles pretty regularly. Great case, one of my favorites. The old style fatty Hori Real Arcade Pros are another great case but a pain to work on, and the Real Arcade Pro V3 SA is another solid choice. Hell, the old SF X Tekken sticks are good too. Lots of great choices.
>>
>>8909353
just googled it for myself and no, no it doesn't. Might as well get a rPi Pico for six bucks and flash the GP2040 firmware. Faster than a Brook anyway.
>>
8bitdo stick is my cheap choice.
>heavyness customizable (there are metal plates you can remove
>deep enough to fit a seimitsu ls-32 (careful, not ls-32-01,so you need an adaptor)
>omni mounting plate to fit any lever you want
>board connectors and soldering connectors
>esthetically pleasing
>bluetooth, 2,4gz and cable
>With a dinner tray on your lap, is like having a normal sized stick
>>
>>8907847
The elite one is the same except it has the stock buttons and stick replaced with Sanwas - if you're going to mod those parts anyway then these are parts you won't be using which is what you're paying extra for in the elite.
>>
>>8909094
I dont want to shell out the money for it a saturn controller costs almost nothing, the brook retro board is like 90 dollars with the cable and rj45 adapter probs another 15 or so for the wiring stuff. I might get one in the future if I want to play on more consoles but doesn't seem worth the price at the moment

>>8909776
>>8909353
the brook retro does work with the saturn
>>
>>8907607
>cheap
With fight sticks you get what you pay for. $35 one is going to be shit and break. Pay at least $120 for a quality one. My Hori RAP 4 I got on sale for that price and have put thousands of hours into it and it works still good as new. It's heavy enough to not wobble on my lap and it works natively for all games I've tried it on.
>>
>>8907957
the mame compatibility and ability to easily switch from 4 way to 8 way stick is what sold me, I should receive mine soon.
>>
>>8907957
Normally you want something that won't move around.

>>
>>8909441
You have to be careful replacing buttons in that te stick as they snap if you're not delicate with it. I'd rate it a top stick other than mine randomly stopped working after a few years of use.
>>
>>8911574
Mayflash F500 is a very solid stick. It's not going to break easily.
>>
fuck off Myflush shill
>>
>>8909171
Same here. I started with a couple of Q3 and was really surprised by the build quality. Got a couple of Q4s for the xinput/dinput switch and never looked back. I've had it for like a decade with regular use. Still works like a charm (I whish the start button was in another position though, too many accidental presses next to the main buttons.)

i ended up pulling the trigger on amazon.jp yesterday - bought the egret 2 mini as well on a whim as it happened on sale for 12k yen. got the shipping confirmation today.

what sold me on the stick:
+don't have a lot of real estate on my desk, so small size is a plus for me. i can just this in front of my monitor and fire up mame.

+from what i can gather for reviews on yt and amazon, build quality seems suprisingly sturdy and solid - quite heavy too.

+no sanwa/seimitsu parts but stick and buttons seem very solid and it has micro-switches. this is still a taito product after all.

+want to use this to play late 80s and 90s action games and shmups on mame/final burn. i don't play beat 'em ups so i'm not buying it as a "fight stick". from what i hear the stick actually has a shorter throw than a sanwa one, so this might turn out to be a plus when playing shmups.

+reasonable priced for what it is (8k yen)

+ a cute!

on the minus side, you can't mod this with other parts i think. but i plan to use as is so whatevs. might get an astro city mini stick as anyways when/if they do a reissue when the mini v is released (maybe this time with seimitsu parts, since the mini v is mainly shooters? one can dream...)

anyway, will do a little reveiw when it arrives

>i ended up pulling the trigger on amazon.jp yesterday
do they ship outside of japan or are you using a proxy service?
>>
>>8913475
they ship internationally, save for certain products. you can just use your regular address and credit card.

Used prices are actually decent there, if you look at pricing of tournamament editions retards have them up on ebay for like 150 - 200 whereas cex is around 60-80

Spot on post. We must be related bro. You in Australia as well? We should have some games.

I use a Hori RAP 4 Kai that I got about a year before SFV came out. If you don't have a problem with Hayabusa buttons (there is no quality difference between Hayabusa and Sanwa buttons before anyone asks, it's purely personal preference because they feel different) then it was a pretty good budget stick for its time
