I like Luigi’s Mansion.
>>
Nintendo's Sega Saturn
>>
Why does it have a handle? Is it a lunch box?
>>
>>8137183
So kids can carry it around. That what Nintendo Japan had in mind.

Noice but they don't cost 20bucks any moar?

Grew up with this console, it wasn't as bad as people said it is, it even ran better than the ps2

Happy birthday bby.

Even tho I'm your tipical 3Xyo NES/SNES boomer collector I discovered the cube around 2010 and had a lot of fun collecting and playing her unknown library. I like to think it's Nintendo's furthest approach to teen/mature gamers.
>>
No one care about the shitcube. Although I remember a little black boy let me borrow his once and i played hunter the reckoning on it. It was aight at best.

The worst console ever made.
>>
>>8137402
I had one when it came out, but yeah I think this was Nintendo leaving its comfort zone as much as it ever has. Led to some great things too, Luigi’s Mansion and Metroid Prime.

It was a short lived time, but still great. I lament that my friends and I never had the get together planned with GBAs and cables to play 4-swords together.

It's more Nintendo's Dreamcast.

Wii U was Nintendo's Saturn.

The Gamecube is based and I like it so much I have it instead of a Wii.
Zoomed revisionist history wants to believe that Playstation 2 was the only 6th gen console.
Dreamcast and Gamecube are my favorites

Actually, no, the GCN has more good games overall and the N64 has basically zero hidden gems being as it only has like 300 games in the first place.

you need to give gamecube a better chance. it has a lot of cool unique stuff. I prefer it's library to the ps2.

pros: cheap and easy to install
cons: a wii does nearly everything it does but better and even cheaper
>>
>>8139789
But then you have to use a wii
>>

Practically, I don't see the difference. Sentimentally, I can see why you would like to use a Gamecube instead.

kind of a shill but i did an EP of GameCube style songs to celebrate the 20th anniversary.

doesnt seem like the anniversary got much fanfare which is a shame. I guess it was sort of overshadowed by Norm Macdonald's death, understandably. Still tho, GameCube is rly important to me, probably my fav Nintendo system still. lots of comfort food games. A lot of the games on it tried weird new stuff and ppl kinda shat on it for that at the time but that ended up being what I remember most fondly about it.
>>
It was apparently the second most powerful system of that gen (first one being the Xbox), but most games couldn't take advantage of that because of the small size of the discs.
>>
>>8141294

>mentioning RE0 as a positive
VJ is very overrated too, i don't know what you guys see in those games. Killer7 seems interesting. There's also Cubivore, Chibi Robo, Billy hatcher, pikmin 1 + 2, etc. Lot of weird interesting games.

Also I've never seen anyone try to make an okami clone, but there are tons of zelda clones.

Goddamn, this thread makes me feel old.
I don't know what I'm gonna be like when 7th gen turns twenty and is considered "retro" by zoomers. That's only 4-5 years away.
On another note, what's your favorite Gamecube game, /vr/? Mine's probably Twilight Princess.

All the fags on this board talk about the GC being an "underperforming console" and people at the time disliking it but I don't remember any of that shit. I just remember playing it with bros from school and everyone enjoying Melee, MK Double Dash and the Mario Parties at the very least. Also we were all in agreement the GC version of Soul Calibur 2 was superior because it had Link.
>>
>>8137173
The last console Nintendo ever made where they were actually trying to remain competitive in the same space as the other consoles.
>>
Quite a shame that the GameCube and its games are price gouged to high heavens, even though it barely sold worse than the Xbox
>>
>>8137173
Most aesthetic 6th gen console.
>>
>>8145161
I actually think the Xbox might be the most aesthetic 6th generation console, though that might be because I stereotype the early 2000s as overhyping this high tech future we'd all be living in by now

Though I think the GameCube is a pretty close second to that, kinda has that early 2000s cool vibe

IIRC there was a plan to do a Twin Snake style remakes of MGS2 for the GC but either Twin Snakes didn’t sell enough or Silicon Knights' president Denis Dyack fucking hated working for the Japanese and wanted to burn that bridge as fast as possible

Fun fact - Link and Wario are together in this ad because they represent Nintendo's final games for the Famicom - Wario's Woods and a cartridge release of Legend of Zelda (originally an FDS game).

Getting a Gamecube shouldn't be hard. I got mine 3 years ago at a Savers for 10 bucks. Or just buy a Wii, besides the GB Player you don't lose anything.

That doesn't account for the huge expense of moving. Also I have no assurances of employment which fits my limited skillset at a new location.

>>8145498
Back then, I used to play Xtreme Beach Volleyball on Xbox and Beach Spikers on GameCube. Most here dislike sports games, but I think they are fun and missing out, but I recognize my taste in games is very different from most others.

We wanted to do that game too. It is difficult since most of us do not have money, so we had to make hard choices. I never really had any portable systems aside from the TurboExpress, so getting 4 of us to each bring our own GBA to share with everyone was a lot of money collectively to devote for a couple get-togethers. Compounded with all of us choosing to go with the NeoGeo Pocket Color, which was still in retrospect a great decision for the fun we did have, there was not much left devoted to linking 4 GBAs to a singular GameCube. To this day, I still do not own a GBA and they've gotten really expensive.

>>8150094
There are a lot of amazing Japanese games like that World Fighters which was my first GameCube game. We were all captivated with a cover that had Optimus Prime, Bomberman, Master Higgins, Licca-chan, Twinbee, and Yugo. Naruto was fire in the early 2000s, and the GameCube had a few games for it too. It is totally worth getting Japanese games on the GameCube.

Fagottry aside, being able to fit a GameCube game up your ass is pretty impressive. Kinda like those African dudes who could install Quake directly in their brains by putting the install disc in their bottom lips.
>>
Question for Cube fans:
The GC Dual is really expensive and I've heard reports of it falling out the digital-out port because of dodgy moulding on the connectors.
It's a bummer you can't get the Carby component cables anymore, but if I play on a BVM is there any reason not to get the HDMI model and a 0-lag HDMI>component transcoder?
