Just started playing Baldur's Gate 1 for the first time what should I expect and what are peoples thoughts on these games?

Nobody huh?

The joy of the first game is its pure nonlinear exploration, which is unrivalled to this day.

2nd game throws all of that out the window though, but instead goes all in on having living, believable party members (that are all mental and threaten to blow up your party halfway through a 20h dungeon). Again unrivalled in it's forte, but for good reasons.
