July 24 will be the one year anniversary of the massive Gigaleak that turned so many things Nintendo fans thought they knew about SNES history upside down. With all the fans out there with deep pockets--or at least fans with loose pockets who would gladly donate to such a cause--why on earth hasn't anyone tracked down one of the computers, workstations, or whatever Nintendo used back then, bought it, and compiled the early LttP code that was in the leak?
>>7945495i personally enjoyed the gameboy lotcheck much more than the snes and n64 proto stuff, seeing prototype localizations that we never received and even games we thought were 100% lost like pokemon picross was incredible
>>7945495No news? It would be nice if we received another set of files. Spaceworld Pokemon was the best, I was there for the original Unown-Hiroshima thread, bless these anons.
>>7945495What an absolute fucking treasure trove this was.
>>7945495Man, it's been a year already?I remember checking these threads obsessively. It was way better than just a random proto being found, having access to the actual development files and folders is crazyWhat's even crazier is that stuff like Koizumi? talking about testing 3D games with the FX before going on OOT and we actually found the freaking models for that. How crazy is that? Also, does someone have the Costanza shitpost made with these models?
>>7945527Yeah same. Though the Game Boy family is more my bread and butter anyways.
What was the oldest file in the gigaleak? I know some date from the late 80's.
>>7945904I think the oldest stuff is related to Dragonfly for SNES, the early prototype of Pilotwings. This is from February 28 1989. It's also unedited lol.
>>7945836I remember those (the models, not the shitpost). They looks jank as fuck, of course, but it's fun to see where these people got their start making 3D models.
>>7945965Well yeah, they were meant to test 3D combat with the FX chip, so basically they weren't even meant as a concrete project, just the possible beginnings of oneBut this test has basically layed out the foundation of OOT when he later joined the project IIRCHow crazy is that?
>>7945974Pretty crazy. This type of content is my favourite. Seeing cut/early content really humanizes the developers. Every cut content thread there's some anon that's like "I don't care about shit that was cut because it was cut for being bad". They don't understand that it's not interesting because you wish green stickman Link was playable, it's interesting to be able to see the strings being pulled behind the scenes, how development progressed, etc. and speculate over what it might mean.
>>7945836>having access to the actual development files and folders is crazyI STILL have to pinch myself and remind myself I didn't dream saving a whole directory of Nintendo development folders to my desktop, with the person folders of developers whose names I can then recognize in the credits of some of my favorite games, where the files are dated back to the SNES era. And development tools! Actual tools they used in-house to create graphics! It's like holy hell, man, did we luck out or what? And it hurts when you realize it may never happen again and we never get answer to some of the biggest mysteries (e.g. Super Donkey).>>7945904kek
>>7945495that ground hole in the map>i used to have weird dreams and nightmares about Zelda Alttp secrets when i was young.
Goddamn, has it been a year already? Incredible.
>>7946827Doesn't it drive you crazy that we may never get answers about that hole and so many other things in the leak? Knowing how the Japanese are about piracy, and considering how this information was obtained (illegally), I don't know if there's a chance of even a former employee who worked on LttP opening about the early map if asked.
>>7945992>Actual tools they used in-house to create graphics! We can now make real homebrew.
based leaker anon, dump moar!
>>7945951Why would a Japanese programmer write fuck you in English and not use the Japanese term? Did he think he was being sneaky and no one would notice this way?
>>7949332Why would he need to be sneaky? His friends probably laughed at it.
>>7946827You too, huh?
>>7949332Why would a baby shitpost on 4chan?
>>7949332Because the Japanese equivalent would be most likely to get him fired, while the English swear probably barely even registers as an inappropriate thing to sayThis is the case for most other languages used in most places Mr.American
yo did anything from Earthbound 64 leak?
>>7951197Nothing, I think.
>>7951197All the N64 stuff came from EAD, so no.
>>7945495Wow cool, I completely missed this last year. Does anyone know if Earthbound 64 leaked?
It feels like it leaked just 3 months ago instead of a year. Speaking of which, anyone know if there were any Earthbound 64 leaks?
>>7951272>>7951241>>7951197The shit that leaked out of my ass would have been earth bound if I wasn't wearing pants
>>7951241You faggots will never go away.
>>7951754True, but you'd have to shit 64 times in order to appease the MOTHER 3 fags.
>>7952117when I saw the mother 3 64 leak I shat 64 degrees and walked away
>>7945987late reply but this type of stuff is why the super mario world assets were easily one of my favorite parts of the leak, if only because before then all we had were old magazine screenshots and the stuff found in the burn-in test cart. suddenly this leak comes around and we suddenly find out that bowser does, in fact, have legs
Do you guys think something will leak on the anniversary?
>>7952356It's possible, but I'm not going to get my hopes up like I did last Christmas.
>>7952356I don't think there's anything left to leak. If there was they would have leaked it by now.
>>7946668>The gigaleak thread is two pages down
>>7945495>>7945836>>7945813Can i get a qrd of what was found? By the time i found out and went to /vr/ it was like thread 22 and there was thousands of posts to read through
>>7953603I don't know if anyone has a legit list, but I can list what I remember- Two Yoshi's Island prototypes, most of the levels are not even complete and have rough drafts of what the gimmicks will be. Originally was a wizard baby instead of baby Mario- Yoshi Island Alpha called "Donkey"- Mario 64 assets and part of the source codes. We got the missing numbered levels in the game's debug level select with ressources, they're all test stages. We got Luigi, it was glorious. A scrapped enemy was restored from the code- OOT assets and parts of the source. Some old proto enemies were found and restored. Found out that the Ikana Well and Spider House in MM was supposed to be in Ura Zelda. Unused boss rush. Unused SGI renders along with HQ versions of all of them. We also got the untextured (was probably also going to use a SGI render) of the old strange assumed to be temple of time picture that floated around. Found SGI of a early really small temple of time. We also have HQ renders of the manual stuff- HQ renders of cart template, full picture of Star Fox 64 cart art (was previously never found) and such random assetscont.
>>7953603>>7953634 cont.- Star Fox 64 uncompressed voice clips- Full source of Dr.Mario 64 including a scrapped Japanese version- Some random Animal Crossing stuff, very little research made?- Full Wario Land 4 source I believe, unsure- A crazy amount of development sprites for Super Mario World, maps, different Yoshi designs, Grandpa Yoshi, unused enemies, one being a walking canon that was reused in yoshi's island- Also a crazy amount of ALTTP ressources. A deku tree looking tree, old maps- I believe we have the full "git" (I forgot the old versioning software they used) repo of Starfox 2 including weird utilities- Weird utilities like spriting utilities, a tool to make scrapped yoshi island sprites and the likes- NES roms of some unreleased games I heard, like the full version of an Hockey Sim? In full English- GB lotcheck, includes lost unreleased and unannounced localizations, Pokémon Picross. Tomato's Adventure GBC- A shitload of Pokemon source code, nearly all of them, some even having all of the repo intact- Broken repo? of Link's Awakening or just lots of different roms- SGI test that turned into Mario Kart 64- Mario Kart protos and alpha before it became Mario Kart- Pilotwing Alpha assets (Dragonfly was it called?)And many, many more stuff that I forget at this pointUnrelated, but recently some OOT beta assets were found in the overdump of a F-Zero proto
>>7953638>>7953634shame i never played yoshis island or mario 64 back then so the leaks dont mean a whole lot to me, but the OOT leaks sound interesting, I'll have to check out TCRF to see if they organized their new pages for the gigaleaks>>7953639>smwoh this looks good
>>7953639Small correction to - Weird utilities like spriting utilities, a tool to make scrapped yoshi island sprites and the likesI forgot a few detailsIt's some sort of weirdish map the tool was made forAlso, Yoshi Island had some beautiful stage select screen that was more animated. Some anon made some fantastic 1080p wallpaper out of it. I don't have it anymore>>7953648tcrf should have most things up by nowThe pages should be under "pre-release" I believe, access it from the game's main pages
>>7954301glad to see it again
the amount of content this had was increadible. There's still things that haven't gotten a deep dive yet, such as the yoshi's story rom.
THis thread cannot die yet, the anniversary hasn't happened!
I hope there's another Gigaleak coming up. It was a really good time last year... And i kinda hope for some Gamecube stuff to finally surface
Any third party N64 game source code/protos?
>>7958027What do you even want me to source? You're already making sure I can't link the only place where the resources would be too (tcrf)The shit was found within the iQue OOT files leak with the dd prefix, what else can I say?https://tcrf.net/Prerelease:The_Legend_of_Zelda:_Ocarina_of_Time/iQue/3D_Maps#64DD_Boss_Rush_DungeonsAnd look down for the rest
>>7958027>he doesn't knowthe early OoT story had a way bigger focus on religion/the goddesses and Din was outright intended to be evil
>>7958071>and Din was outright intended to be evilI maintain that there's still no proof of that. The Gerudo may have simply had a differing view of Din.
>>7953639>Tomato's Adventure GBCMore info on this please
>>7958116The story is known. Game was completely finished and Nintendo asked Alphadream if they could remake it for the new GBA system, and they did. It was called Gimmick Land on GBChttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2z_ZeSS5CgYI didn't play and I also never played Tomato's Adventures (is it even translated?). You can probably get some mileage of checking the comments on youtube
>>7958127/v/ is that way.
>>7958127I'm sorry, what? What does my having an opposing viewpoint over the filename of unused content have to do with your post getting deleted? Nothing, that's what.
>>7958127Of course they were retooled. It looks like Ura Zelda was pretty much completely cancelled in development, but further material needs to be gotten in the future (probably never again) as it was just what was part of iQue leak, so who knowsOtherwise, what part of "dungeon pieces that has various rooms and entrances, miniboss rooms, small puzzles and boss rooms from all dungeons" you don't understand?
>>7958127>Thanks but some of those rooms are different than in MM.Yes? They rejiggered them for Zelda Gaiden later on down the line. Shit happens all the time.
Highlight for me was the castlevania iv stuff
>>7958140>>7958148How can you tell it wasn't a demo made exclusively for testing the iQue version, which if I recall wasn't released until 2012.
>>7958180Nintendo gave their iQue division all the raw material. Things from various points of development from SEVERAL games were there, not just Ocarina of Time. Early work in progress maps for Link to the Past, for example. And they still had their original datestamps on them. From the 80s and 90s, not the 00s or 10s.
>>7958126Man the amount of SOUL in that spritework. But no, last time I checked there still isn’t an english translation for Tomato Adventure. I want one so bad because its pretty much the prototype for Superstar Saga
>>7958186>>7958189Then what I'm looking for are screenies of said datestamps. These dev kits probably didn't have an internal clock like consoles started having after PS2.
>>7958197Dude literally just download the leaks yourself and look at the date stamps. File systems have had them for a million years now. You act like devs programmed on consoles and not computers
>>7953639- Mario Kart protos and alpha before it became Mario Kartassuming you're talking about mario kart 64 is there any stuff related to kamek?
>>7958367no Kamek but there was a cut city levelhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TxF-9cm0nX4
>>7958379very neat, but i can see why it was cut. too confusing and claustrophobic, i think mario kart ds did it better with the delfino square
>>7958093There is a graphic for the map screen calling the dungeon Evil Goddess Din Statue instead of Spirit Temple. For whatever reason and Discord bullshit, tcrf refuse to acknowledge it because we're the alt right (they were apprehensive about documenting the gigaleak altogether because it was leaked here). The graphic was posted here alongside other pause screen graphics in previous threads. Look for it in the archive sites, look up Evil Goddess Din statue and I'm sure you'll find it.
>>7953638This is giving me Vice City flashbacks
I'm not in the know with these leaks ans stuff like that, were there any NES games "leaked"?If so, is there a place I could get the roms or a list . Or were they not dumped?
>>7958163There was CV4 stuff?
I wanna see Super Donkey transform into a real game.
>>7959005It transformed into Yoshi's Island, what more do you want?
>>7959205He probably means a game more closely relating to the leaked tech demo
>>7950870Is said baby Japanese?
>>7959005This, I want to know what Miyamoto was going for in that game, preferably before Miyamoto dies since he's an old man nowIt seemed like a potential origin story for both Mario & Donkey Kong.
if you want to see good documentation on the leaks, see https://protocrystal.neocities.org/timeline.html and search "nintendo leak" on https://tcrf.net
>>7960056>see https://protocrystal.neocities.org/timeline.html>no word on /vr/brehs...
>>7945495Such a shame that whatever other files had been grabbed back then have been lost.If any of it survived it is now in the hands of some hoarder circle that has no intention of sharing it I guess.
>>7958379Thanks for linking that, I forgot about it>>7958367I'm talking about Super Mario Kart. IIRC we have some protos, or at least some assets of generic drivers from before they shoved Mario into itThe official story about Kamek was that it was lost in a data crash wasn't it? I doubt Kamek is ever showing up in any form
>>7958921There wasn't a rom lot check, but I heard there was? I dunnoAll I know is that there's a complete version, in English, of an Hockey Sim we apparently just had a proto of before. Don't know anymore than that
>>7959205Is this why Baby bowser calls Yoshi a Donkey?
>>7961174>Such a shame that whatever other files had been grabbed back then have been lost. What do you mean?
>>7945495>those tree buildings in the forestWas this a precursor concept for the Kokiri?
>>7961451It could be a precursor to the Deku tree... the forest thieves seemed like precursors to the Kokiri.
>>7961451I guess it's supposed to be those trees here.
>>7961526>>7961543Oh, interesting. It's cool seeing how far back certain ideas go. The Deku Tree felt like a sudden new idea in OoT, but clearly they'd been kicking around a similar concept for a long time.
>>7961551Check the TCRF article to get some quick ideas on just how much stuff was planned or thought about as early as ALTTP.
>>7958197What is this.
>>7961551This is probably the main inspiration for the Deku tree in both OoT and BoTW.
>>7961952Would be kind of fitting for a downfall timeline w here the tree is rotted out and a labyrinth is constructed underground. Also Level 1.
>>7945495Is that Dragon head supposed to represent where a dragon would be or something?
>>7954301So much better.
>>7949332"Fuck you" is one of those few English phrases that's hip to say in Japan, like "Oh my god" or "I love you"
>>7953638DOIW NOOOOOWDOIW NOOOOOWDOIW NOOOOOWDOIW NOOOOOW
>>7953634>Yoshi Island Alpha called "Donkey"*Super DonkeyThe implication given the presence of Mario and Donkey Kong sprites in it seemed to be that it was a prequel perhaps themed around Mario and Donkey Kong, though this is just speculation based on assets in the ROM and the name Super Donkey. Instead it became a prequel themed around Baby Mario and Yoshi.
>>7958379So fucking creepy. Probably just intended as a test map though.
>>7963030Unga bunga I wanna play as purple gorilla!!!!!
>>7963040Nah, an interview mentions it.http://shmuplations.com/mariokart64/>We also made a big city track, with a castle, and a nice pond, where you got to race around all these different houses and buildings. Unfortunately, it was a very large map, and it took too much time to race through. So we cut it.
>>7964539Oh shit happy anniversary guys?!
>>7964557Feel like this thread manifested this into being. Whole new angle on 'Wiimote'
Has anything interesting from the post-n64 era come out yet?
>>7964562>Bound Hightell me about it
>>7964562>Echo DeltaWhat exactly? Also, For a long time I thought that since the GBA build of Metroid Dread got cancelled, Fusion would be where Samus's adventures would end, and the franchise put to rest. Not sure if Banjo Threeie ever got into development past concept art, though.
>>7961393not everything was sharedthere are 2.75 tb of data in the leak, with most of it still unreleased by le inner circle
Was there anything related to Randnet or the 64DD in the leaks?
>>7964589>>7964557Let's keep our fingers crossed and hope this is only the beginning...
>>7965791I heard someone say more will be leaked this weekend but it was probably a shitpost
>>7964562Pink Version would be Jigglypuff, considering the anime's canon by that time.
>>7964780VB game leaked/dumped a few years ago. Easy to find. Overhead perspective bouncing ball game.
>>7966505pink version was considered for development before the anime was even a thingbefore the smashing success of pikachu, clefairy used to be considered as the potential mascot for the entire franchise
>>7949332The way you would say in japanese sounds less cool/more burdensomeThere is no good equivalent
>>7953603Some stuff classified on https://tcrf.net/index.php?search=nintendo+leak&title=Special%3ASearch&go=ContinuerSome randomly on https://superdonkey.booru.org/index.php?page=post&s=listOther places with better recap?
>>7966518People mostly say that because Clefairy was Red's starter in the original manga. However, he gets a Pikachu in chapter 3 and from that point on Clefairy and Pikachu receive pretty much equal focus. Pikachu was always a very popular Pokemon.
>>7964562All I want in life is resident evil 0 64..
>>7966850I think the biggest indicator that it was meant to be Jigglypuff is that, when you transfer a Jigglypuff from gen 1, you get a completely useless held item called the Polkadot Bow (which is identical to the Pink Bow you can find in-game, just with a slightly different name). It was probably meant to be Jigglypuff's Light Ball equivalent.
>>7964562>The Joy of Painting DSWhat's the story here?
>>7966518Jigglypuff was introduced as a regular character in the anime just a couple of months before Yellow version released. Given that the anime also did a Pokemon Snap tie-in episode a couple of episodes after Puff was introduced (although Pokemon Snap was horribly delayed), it's likely Jigglypuff was introduced into the anime specifically to promote Pink Version. But the game was scrapped after those episodes were already in production.
>>7951754I haven't laughed this hard in god knows how long, and this joke fucking sucks. Fuck you man, i have tears in my eyes and it's your fault..
>>7967190>Jigglypuff was introduced as a regular character in the anime just a couple of months before Yellow version released.Shut up you faggot. There has been zero evidence for Jigglypuff, and Clefairy was favored at that time. Cope, seethe and dilate.
>>7964818Dread was always a DS game
>>7964818>GBA build of Metroid Dread
>>7964562>metroid dreadstill cant believe it
>>7967678I'd still love to see those two earlier builds of it, though.
>terabytes of shit>these faggots won't just fucking release itabsolute cockgobblery get fucked and go back to jail cunt
>>7967897I've convinced myself that "terabytes" was a lie and we're never getting a massive leak release again
Any Earthbound 64 stuff in the new leaks?
>>7968358"2TB of leaks" is a debunked myth. check the archive
>>7968415>debunked by a known liar
>>7968424what known liar? we've known the claim was bullshit since it started spreading among retards who don't know how to use archives>>6394769
>>7953639>- Star Fox 64 uncompressed voice clipsHoly shit. that alone is great. I didn't think this existed.
>>7968483As it turns out, Nintendo archives a lot of shit from development periods.
>>7968548For all the parts of Nintendo that I hate, I have to respect that, because quite a lot of developers used to save almost nothing at all, certainly not back in those days. A lot of the kind of stuff found wouldn't have been very financially valuable at all for future endeavors, yet it was preserved.
just how do they get these prototype from these auctions in japapn?
i wanan see beta dorry

>>7968906Not even news, ex-Retro guys talked about that years ago
>>7968932Yeah I think it started when a Retro artist uploaded it onto his Artstation. It was also revealed that they were making a Boo-centric game and that's where the image of a boo crucified came from.
>>7969263>image of a boo crucifiedThis is news to me. Please post it.
>>7945987Yeah, for prototypes in general, it is really neat to see a game that you're used to seeing as a fully polished retail product during a state when it was still buggy and had placeholders etc. Sure, nowadays it is common to see messy, unfinished games, or even see shitty broken old games, but seeing a grade-B or grade-A title when it still had glitches right out in the open or when they were still experimenting with designs and layouts and whatnot really makes the game feel like a man-made product as opposed to the sanitized version you're used to.
>>7967171I guess there was no story.
Nintendo should just release older stuff to the public. Not code, but history with their company, the work that went into stuff, etc.Nintendo Power interviewing Shig isn't enough. There's no valid or logical reason to be so stuck-up. They don't have to be faggots like Sega, but being faggots like Nintendo is just bad.
>>7969290Sadly it might not really be worth it for them. They'd probably have to get their legal department to clear whatever they release (who knows what stolen or whatever stuff might lurk within experimental and early shit), as well as marketing it in a way that won't result in mothers calling in and complaining that Billy is crying because the game keeps crashing if he pauses the game too many times or goes to a corrupted screen after completing level 3.
>>7969302The company prints money these days. They are the premier company in vidya. The most history, the highest level of crazy shit. They can do it without ruining their name or jeopardizing their IP and rights. There was never a reason not to release info on assets from SMW or LttP. What are they afraid of, a rom hacker hacking in old sprites and putting the hack on romhacking? And don't gimme that "copyright protection" shit, Pixiv and Gelbooru are loaded down with Zelda and Peach and Link getting assfucked. Sometimes japs are retarded.
>>7969314I think he means that Nintendo might be worried that some of their unused concepts might get aped by other developers or wannabe (i.e. indie) developers. That might be a gray area as far as copyright is concerned, I don't know. Either way, I'm sure Nintendo themselves sometimes peruse unused assets and concepts from their old games for inspiration. SMW's Yoshi literally came from an unused idea that had been around since the original SMB.
>>7969318They can curate what they release, but being a bit more open might have prevented people from wanting to hack them so badly.Nintendo is infamous for being assholes at times about things, It comes off as cold and regressive. The official story on how OoT or Super Metroid were made, as an open discussion, are long-overdue. Not just "oho, i was in a park in Kyoto one day and saw children cutting dandelions with sticks and that why you cut grass in ALttP". "I used to climb around on rocks when I was a little shit so that's why rocks fall on you in the Death Mountain area in The Legend of Zelda, ooowooo!"Yeah okay Shig. Now tell us about how you read Tolkien's books in college, and how you applied that experience to building a game world of your own. Don't care about the mountain trout/carp jumping and spitting at you when you were 4 years old. What's the REAL story behind taking a mushroom to grow larger?
>>7966518I'm aware that Clefairy was planned to be series mascot (and was, until the anime), but I've never heard that Yellow and Pink were planned prior to the anime existing. Source me?>>7966850He's still a bit of a side character in there. Reason he got more popular than Clefairy is that the manga author didn't make him raunchy like Clefairy and instead kept him "cute."
>>7967582>Clefairy was favored at the timeVery, VERY early on. Like, the first few months. Pikachu, Jigglypuff, and Clefairy were a trinity as early as 1997. A LOT of Japanese merchandise from that era features all three.
>>7953639In case it wasn't mentioned, the Work Boy software was found, and some guy actually got the one known existing Work Boy prototype working with the leaked rom.
>>7969332>What's the REAL story behind taking a mushroom to grow largerAlice in WonderlandVines are jack and the beanstalkAlso magic mushrooms werent illegal in japan till 2002 so dude drugs lmao guys might not be wrong lol
>>7966841I didn't know that existed, thankshttps://superdonkey.booru.org/index.php?page=post&s=view&id=338I found my previously requested picture
>>7967171>>7969289There was a Bob Ross game planned for Wii and DS? Didn't know about DSIt was a meme for a whileI don't think any screenshots or much at all ever released and it was quietly cancelled
>>7969332>>7969521This reminds me of the Toys That Made Us documentary episode on He-man and the Masters of the Universe, where one of the toy designers overheard the animation crew looking through the concepts and they comment something like "What are these guys on? BONG!". Meanwhile all the toy designers are boring middle-aged guys who like old comics and body building magazines.Thinking anyone who's creative is doing drugs is such a weak take.
>>7969432>>7966518>>7966505Turns out Pokemon Pink version changes the starters to three pink pokemon meant to better appeal to girls; Clefairy, Jigglypuff, and Lickitung.
>>7969302>(who knows what stolen or whatever stuff might lurk within experimental and early shit)If it's just developmental stuff which wasn't in the final product, a lot of that should be just fine. A lot of devs use assets from other games as placeholders during development, for instance Blood, which used some of the monster from Doom. They were never meant for the final product, it wasn't even meant to be seen that way by anyone (the alpha was leaked by a computer tech), it was just until they had their own monster graphics done.
>>7969770Oh, sure, for internal stuff all is fair. But those potential issues could come to light if they officially published it.
>>7954301>Yoshi's Island had too much SOUL to fit on a single cartridge so they had to take some of it out for the final release
sooo the current leak had nothing of actual value hidden among the mails? no prototypes, beta assets, cancelled pitches, anything?
>>7964557>"GIGALEAK GIGALEAK OH MY GOD YOU GUYS GIGALEAK">it's just some manuals and unfinished versions of pokemon let's go"
>>7969930last time it was a fucking endless christmas, we had the entire git repo of diamond and pearl with beta artworks of arceus, prototypes of yoshi islands including a never before seen progenitor of it (super donkey), beta assets from oot, m64, star fox 2, cancelled localizations of jp only gbc games, gbc versions of gba only games, a never seen before nes hockey game, even fucking pokemon picross resurfaced from the grave, every day i came here some new crazy shit had resurfacedwhen the sm64 original luigi model came to light (which i don't personally care about) we had an endless stream of like, 70+ threads that hit reply limit, to the point that they exiled us here to avoid turning it into a general
Some planed names for Nintendo systems including the Multi Famicom, a Super NES with an RGB capable NES built in it (pallet is much more closer to the 2C02 but in RGB rather then the actual RGB PPUs).Disk System support still needed it's ram cartridge.
>>7969828I was thinking more towards Capcom, where leaks incriminated them in outright stealing assets from artist and using them in their published games.I don't think anything like that has come up for Nintendo themselves, yet.
>>7970003>New Nintendo GamecubeAh, so their retarded naming ideas go back at least to the gamecube. I really have to wonder who they lost on staff that was smart enough to veto the NEW series before the N3DS came out.
>>7970582They were using it since the late 80s internally for what ended up becoming the AV Famicom.
>>7971326This looks like something someone at NCL would have drawn because most Japs think Christian symbolism looks cool and dont know any better, only for NOA's Treehouse dept. to shoot it down and ask them to change it. But Retro Studios? I don't know what they were thinking.
>>7969737>Lickitung appeals to girls...
>>7971976If you don't understand why Lickitung appeals to girls then I feel bad for any women you've had sex with.
>>7971976No, just Jigglypuff.
>>7969950Its still kinda neat. I cant really complain. Unless those fucking drip feeding autists all die from corona before they can post everything. Oh shit maybe they already did and thats why its so shit...
>>7973119And now were getting things like a Super NES with NES BC (Multi Famicom), A NES with 2.4 GHz wireless controllers (Air (or Wave) Famicom), the earliest version of the Super NES (Famicom Neo, since the Super NES started development after Super Mario Bros was completed) and what the code name to the NA/Pal NES (Global Famicom).
>>7969290In Japan, there's a dedicated Nintendo museum of game archives they had. However, you need to get accredited access from Nintendo. It's in a storage room with an AC maintaining about 23C to 24C of room temperature. One light in the corner is blinking, probably close to end of life and needs replacing. The vault also contains some metal cabinets with files and documents, consisting of drafts and reports on what parts of the games need to be changed. They're stored pretty well, with hardly any creases found on the papers except in the corners. You can go visit the vault during the weekdays at 9AM to 11AM and 2PM to 4PM Japan Time.
>>7974024>there's a dedicated Nintendo museumHold on, I thought that was just in the planning stages. Is there already one and they're building another?
>>7967582What evidence has there been for Clefairy, other than the pedantic "um, manga?", which was around years before the ideas for Yellow and Pink were conceived.>>7969432How does this favor Clefairy, in particular? Jigglypuff is also right there.>>7969737This bullshit or you serious? Source if so, please.I have no skin in the game for Jigglypuff. I'm just genuinely curious about why there's a consensus for Clefairy being planned for Pink rather than Jigglypuff.
>>7974092There has never been plains for Clefairy for Pokemon Pink, it has always been Jigglypuff.
>>7969950>a never seen before nes hockey gameHit the Ice leaked years ago
>>7974432Been a while, but IIRC, that was not the complete versionThis is the complete version, at least, that's what I heard
>>7974092>This bullshitYeah. The build switch for Pink in the Yellow sources doesn't actually change anything. It's clear they dropped the idea super early on.
The SpaceWorld '97 leak will always be the best to me. I got the internet in early 1999 when I was 11, so I was exactly the age to have been swept up by Red/Blue and the speculation on Gold/Silver
>>7969950I believe the written summary of the status of the data tapes indicated that a number of them were corrupted or otherwise couldn't be readily backed up. It also isn't clear if the hacker managed to download everything. The argument against most of it having already been released is the randomness of this. Like, why those couple of random Yoshi's Island builds? You'd have thought there's either have been a whole lot more, like the full dev archive, or less (like maybe one or two release candidates). Instead it seems to be one random mid-development build, given the timing likely one of the last "rough sketch" builds before they started seriously nailing down the gameplay and level designs. Plus there are screenshots out there from a cartridge which has a slightly earlier build, so you would've thought that build, which was apparently put to a proto cart and sent out in some capacity, maybe to a foreign Nintendo branch, would've been in their internal tape archive.>>7970034Yeah, but I am sure Nintendo legal would want to review over things to make absolutely sure that nothing like the Capcom thing would happen. And given the age of some of the assets, they'd probably determine it would be too tricky to evaluate and probably not generate enough money for the effort.
>>7974997(Sorry, there were two mid-dev builds; was there also one fairly late build?)
>>7974024Why would you just go on the internet and lie like that?
>>7945974I mean koizumi is nintendos mvp. This guy made the majoras mask story and subplots and was probably the reason for even more stuff during oot and shit. I mean he was so good that miyamoto that retard gave him mario instead of zelda. But koizumi wants to tell storys instead of making jump and runs. Directed 3d worlds and then never again because muh story bad. Well he is now on the path to becoming the next ceo. Still just one zelda game man. Even 2d, just one.
>>7976205Koizumi's dad use to be Japan's Prime Minister as well, it's the only reason why Nintendo has any special freedoms that other Japanese companies don't have.
>>7976325Like denying permission to play Nintendo soundtracks during the Olympics.
>>7976359Yes, he was the one who blocked it as he apposed the Olympics due to Covid-19.If Koizumi wasn't at Nintendo they would of killed off their hardware team after BOTW and other then the few remaining 3DS games they had left they will be reserved on mobile gacha games like everyone else, but instead Koizumi single handily saved Japan's console market, strictly because Koizumi's dad use to be Japan's Prime Minister.
>>7958056>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tl9DCjNqXT0 why is everything about this game so fucking soulful? it's now like nearly 30 years old and it still looks good, still has this feeling of exploration behind it.
>>7976475Do you really think anyone in this thread will be that gullible?
>>7976475Ah, this is nostalgic.
