Is the excitement rating you get from putting ugly scenery garbage next to all your rides based on price or size at least, or is it pure scummy reed count?
>>
How to make guests interested in older rides ?
All they seem to care is the latest one built, it's disproportionate.
The rebuild option doesn't help.
>>
>>7925739
I think one tree has the same effect as 4 tiny trees. Plus there's a scenery cap for the excitement bonus. I don't think price has any influence on it.
>>
>>7925801
Refurbishing a ride should help, as it increases its reliability and maintains a high popularity.
If refurbishing and setting patrol areas on your mechanics on your big rides isn't helping then quite simply your rides have low stats, are too long, or aren't getting fixed fast enough.

I've seen a few people like that (or the same guy multiple times) who are way too paranoid for their own good and have to test everything in a virtualbox etc for fear it's going to destroy their PC or something, when that thing has been around for years and used by tens of thousands of people around the world.
People like that should probably just uninstall their life.

that's just how she rolls, my dude. New rides have novelty, and novelty commands attention. Older rides should still see a reasonable amount of popularity, though. Maybe there's something else you've overlooked? Got a screenshot of one of these parks?
>>
>>7926882
there were dudes like that in the Descent community. we had to keep using Mumble for years because they didn't want to upgrade to anything new. eventually they adopted discord, multiple years after discord was considered the standard for voice and text

moral of the story: Retro gaming dudes are stubborn and really hate upgrading software in any form
>>
>>7926829
Rides age over time, causing their calculated value from guests' perspective to drop, as a percentage of what their stats should put them at.

In OpenRTC you can "refurbish" with a button click to eat the cost of rebuilding the ride and treating it as new. You can also just turn on the cheats menu and then ingame you can tick the "rides don't age" cheat if it's really bothering you.

The only other thing it can be is that guests don't path to your original rides anymore. They don't hit the path that passes by them because of the way you've built, so they don't have a chance to consider riding. Put more things past those rides that they will want to walk past the queue intrances to, make the queue entrances hit T's or corners in your pathways with high throughputs, that kind of thing (as tested by youtube autism man, guests are much more likely to check a ride if it's straight ahead of the direction they were walking). Put bathrooms past the ride entrances if you need to.
>>
>>7925801
There's an algorithm to it where basically new rides get +2 or so appeal and then steadily degen.

Just save the ride track, sell, and remake.

Like this is for the Flying coaster. Look at how pathetic this shit is.
I know Galactica/Air was the only flying coaster in the world when this game was made but come on Chris at least give me an overbank turn or a fucking vertical loop.

Yeah, it's impossible to merge a flying coaster to a giant vertical loop from the top. I've been trying for like an hour.
Good thing the devs removed the "test unfinished ride" functionality for ghost trains that don't work if you add block brakes to the ride. Neat.
>>
>>7934914
I'm quite surprised, looking back, that we never got overbanks in RCT2. If the expansions would have had anything worthwhile, it would have been overbanks. Show me an early gigacoaster that DIDN'T have at least one fucking overbank. They knew it existed.
>>
>>7935341
Did the expansions even include any new track pieces? I only recall vehicles and ridiculously out-of-scale scenery.
>>
>>7935363
Just vehicles, flat rides, and scenery.
>>
>>7935341
Overbanks/half-assed loops were probably glossed over for the sake of utilitarianism, as it would mean rotating animations need to be made for giga trains, not to mention track pieces. And if that's just one coaster, then the B&M Twisters should get the same treatment and so on. I wish the modders who made the single-rail and wooden-steel coasters attempted them.
>>
>>7935453
At the point where RCT2 was getting expansions, they had a budget. RCT2 was not a commercial failure. They could have done it. But they lacked conviction.

The alternate trains theme are hilariously bad too, like the bubonic plague rat bobsleds. It pisses me off more so that people were paid a salary/commissioned to make such shitty expansions at 20 bux a pop, each.
>>
>>7935471

That's the thing I also noticed when I tried to submit workbench scenarios for our server: the retards at Frontier who made scenery for those expansion packs categorized them in the worst possible way. For example:
>American theme
>Giant sequoias/redwood giants
>listed under:
>>Large Scenery Objects
>instead of trees
Ex-fucking-cuse me? There's only so many slots available in Small scenery versus Large. If you want to choose ANY of the expansion pack scenery, you better choose them first, and only one, because once you choose any other vanilla scenery, those slots are filled out. Thank fuck the recent ORCT beta unlocked limits, but it still has a while to go.

>>

>this park says it has height restrictions in the description

That should tell you how much thought they put into it. Also, the original name is "Lost City Founder." What the fuck kind of shitty name is that?

that not even talking about Rollercoaster Heaven, which is easily the worst scenario by a country mile. Redwoods everywhere that the vanilla scenery clearer can't remove, and the only focus is coasters so you have no reason to actually run the park properly. Also it has a length requirement so get ready to spam helixes, especially because there's zero interesting terrain.

While the peeps are nervous, on the surface they seem to be calm and ready.

It's as persistent as the fag who constantly places it in every park.

Weren't you guys deleting these now? Did prebuilts-anon noodle his way back into your hearts?

The plots server is a few months old I think and prebuilt-boi slapped one down immediately and by then it was the second one I've seen.

This is actually the OG Mom's Spaghetti. It was created on this map!
And the rest is history....

Weren't you saying you can't build rollercoasters live and NEED to use prebuilts, before? As the whole justification for spamming them? If that's verifiably not true, doesn't that catch you in a lie?

Building a dense jungle is fucking painful holy shit why did I decide to do this for my ENTIRE plot
This coaster was a pain in the ass to get right and it still kindof ended up like a spaghetti monster. I'm not even sure if the ravine is noticeable with all of the foliage around it. I need to finish this plot up before I go insane.
>>
>>7947546
Eh it's okay I guess. It's no Mom's Spaghetti after all.
>>
>>7947548
u rite gunna restart
>>
>>7947546
Honestly it looks pretty nice to me. I did have to look for the ravine. But that's a cool looking helljungle park, it's neat that you can't really see paths so guests look like they just disappear into it.
>>
>>7947546
wtf, stop making us look bad
>>
>>7947546
honestly it's a cool plot and I don't care how long it takes. At first I thought it was abandoned but I've seen slow progress and I love watching it grow.

>Huge plot of land with water obnoxiously filling most of the important locations
>Extra space to build on the west side is mountainous and has a train chugging through it
>The dueling coasters will inevitably crash from a station brakes failure
>The wooden wild mouse will inevitably crash because fuck you
>Log flume is a 6 minute slog
>Train is in the way of half the coasters I'd like to build

Why is Diamond Heights such a shit scenario?
>>
>>7948448
Take control of your destiny.
>build a boardwalk over the water
>add a station to the train in the middle of nowhere, or remove it entirely
>modify the phobias to have one train each
>bulldoze/edit anything in your way

Nobody told you that you HAVE to preserve the rides.
>>
>>7949137
>boardwalk

this is an amazing idea, thanks anon
>>
Why shouldn't I just build a tower of flat gentle rides near the entrance to get them out of the way?
>>

are you seriously powergaming RCT instead of playing for aesthetics

>>
>>7949393
>tower of Crooked Houses, Hedge Mazes and Golf
>you don't build exit paths, guests just fall out of them in a column, rapidly transporting them to the bottom like a super efficient transport ride out of the Gentle Tower
>these specific rides never break down, so no mechanic ever needs to get into the exits
>the "everything is too scary for me" guests have the most terrifying experiences of anyone in the park

serves them right

I don't know, something big like Copper Heights. I made that scenario years ago and I don't think I ever saw anyone fill it out

It's... pretty pitiful. Like, it's not as bad as the 4Mobile game, but it's a 3DS variant of a game meant to be played on a large screen.

welp guys
I joined the server and the park's rating started to collapse and now everyone is leaving
everyone is lost but I didn't change the paths in any significant way
>>
>>7955662
I found the problem, someone opened all the rides in Monday's slot but that section isn't available to guests yet, so everyone was crowding the fuck out of the paths in front of it.

Despite not liking the scenario it turned out alright. Wish I could have built some more coasters but I couldn't figure out how to place another without it looking janky. Thoughts?

>>7949137
Ended up more like a plaza. Do you think it ended up working? Your idea was good though.
>>
I want a park where you have to hide every ride. They cannot be visible from above, because your park is illegal or something. The land layout has a mountain and a canyon. No ride seen from satellites or aerial passes and guests are advised not to snitch, we do not have a permit.
>>
>>7957053
do it
you will need high terrain
>>
>>7957053
sounds neat
>>
>>7957053
Which rides have the requirements that they be like 50% above ground? If it's most rides, this is harder, but if it's only a few then you can probably have a pretty varied park. Also love the idea of seeing the paths weave between canyon cliffs and the fully-housed coaster tracks crossing between them too.
>>
>>7957053
Try it on Lightning Peaks as a self-imposed challenge and see what works from that, and go from there.
>>
>>7957053
sounds like Mr Bones' Orchard

How to build a fun one ?

>>
>>7955675

I'm pretty sure someone is joining my server and just being annoying in stupid ways. Just now, like you said, all oft he rides were open, and I just noticed someone hired the maximum amount of handymen and set them all to mow grass.
I know every now and then someone would turn on "Neverending marketing campaigns" and we would be at like 8,900 guests, which is really close to the sprite limit.

I'm not going to bother looking into it because he's not doing anything that requires a save rollback. At least the empty plots are mowed.

what the fuck counts as an inversion on that thing? I see it has half-loops AND in-line twists. What gives?
>>
>>7956858
looks good m8
I like how everything is connected in the plaza
>>
now we don't have enough handymen
>>
>>7957053
I made a scenario years ago where you were meant to build in a cavern and couldn't build tall rides but i fucked up the settings when i finally uploaded it. I dunno if it was in the /v/ pack but it should be called craven cavern or something like that
>>
>>7958451
1 handyman per tile
1 mechanic per ride
2 mechanics per ride that nets you $25,000+ income
1 security guard at the gate(s)
1-4 tiger entertainers locked in a cage underground below the roman colloseum scenery piece
>>
In a zero handymen challenge could security guards be worth something?
>>
>>7960069
Maybe, but you're better off just replacing the dirty paths anyway.
>>
>>7960069
absolutely, that place would get trashed otherwise

If you are doing a Zero Handymen challenge just get OpenRCT. If you click on the shovel icon you get settings and you can just Disable littering. Then you don't need handymen! :D

new update is out anons
>>
Opaque water! Also, what are the chances they can add an option to do Classic progression including the Tycoon Park at the very end? Going between RCT1 and 2 maps feels really nice on mobile.
>>
>>7961610
I thought the option for scenario unlock progression was already in the game
>>
>>7961980
It does. I'm suggesting a combined campaign similar to the classic re-release.
