Can we all agree the PS1 has the best games library out of all Sony consoles?
>>
If you pay me for it I'll back you up on this one, OP.
>>
Yes
>>
PS3 library includes PS1 library perfectly unless youre sperg about smoothing, and if youre the tiny few who has the original PS3s you have ~80% of PS2 library in HDMI just like PS1 HDMI and then youre coming up with 3 gens now, you can play entire series like metal gear solid and in metal gear solid HD collection they reprinted the PS1 disc for the intent of you playing it on the PS3, goes to say that PS3 is just PS1+PS3 and if youre lucky its PS1+PS2+PS3 not to mention many of the games made for PS4 that are worth playing got PS3 ports or were originally PS3 games before they were popular on the PS4 so you have a PS1 PS3 and a select portion of PS4 games and you can add a PS4 controller if you want to convince yourself its PS4.
>>
PS2 is better. I just looked over the PS1 library. Very strong. Ps2 has the better action games tho.
>>
>>7850276
Holy shit kill yourself
>>
>>7850276
Nah, ps1 is better.
>>
Every now and then I still come across PS1 and PS2 games I've never heard of that end up being good, compared to something like the N64 where you can sort a list of the good and bad games in half an hour
This makes direct comparison of the libraries difficult but I'd say PS2 has more unique games in the form of budget titles that tried to be something completely different either to stand out or because the devs genuinely thought it'd make for a fun game and that makes the library better as it's just more interesting to browse than PS1

I don't think so...
PS2 library is just too good. So many great titles of every genre.
>>

What game is this?

Seems like with every generation Sony consoles got smaller libraries.
>>
>>7850236
But PS2 and PS3 can play PS1 games.
>>
>>7850358
>So many great titles of every genre.
Name 40
>>
>>7850373
It's easy to see why. PS1 showed everyone else how it was done, but at the same time development with less than a dozen people was still a very feasible thing. Budgets crept up during the PS2 gen, team sizes increased, etc. Nothing was getting cheaper and development became less accessible. PS3 hit in the middle of a financial crisis and a technological mess, suddenly became a lot scarier out there.

It's not a problem Sony caused, but it's a problem you can identify with Sony's platforms over time - truth is it affected every platform.
>>
>>7850374
Yes I know but that's a different story.
>>
NOT trolling AND NOT counting support for PS1 Games. I'd say its the OG PSP. How many sony games do you actually replay besides FF7 and Crash? None?

PSP you got castlevania, megaman, disgaea, ff tactics, god of war, persona, ext. And its portable...
>>
>>7850407
What a terrible post.
>>
>>7850338
>>7850374
You guys are retarded. How are you not understanding what OP is saying?
>>
>>7850392
The PS3 came out in 2006, two years before the 2008 housing market crash.
>>
>>7850412
Sorry meant for >>7850276
>>
>>7850373
ps2 had more games than ps1 tho?
>>
PS1 had more diversity in games
PS2 had better games

I think it depends on opinion, PS3/4 can't match their libraries of either one
>>
>>7850236
Yes>>7850276
>PS3 library includes PS1 library perfectly
Fuck no
>>
>>7850236
>Can we all agree
You couldn't get everyone to agree with a math statement; what hope can you possibly have?
>>
>>7850417
Yeah and it lasted from 2006 to 2013
>>
>>7850236
Started with the nes but for some reason ps1 is my favorite. Love everything about it, graphics included. Controls are janky though but you get used to it.
>>
>>7850236
FF7, MGS, and RE2 were overrated as fuck. PS1 lacked truly outstanding exclusives. Its quantity over quality. And that's why you keep making these threads. Because you already know the games were overrated jank.
>>
>>7850236
That title goes to the PS2.
>>
>>7850236
PS2.

PS1 has to many early 3D games that aged like milk, PS2's 3D games hold up well.
>>
>>7850236
>Can we all agree the PS1 has the best games library out of all Sony consoles?
No GTASA, no agreement
>>
>>7851364
What about the 2D stuff?
>>
>>7850236
yes. games are for escaping real life. I enjoy lower res gfx with more emphasis on content, gameplay, and originality.
>>
>>7850276
kek dumb fag
>>
>>7851364
ps2 3d games aged worse because it had too much hand holding and dialog in platformers. it was beginning of the cinematic garbage and the end of platformers until recent revival

no, they haven't. R&C, Jak, Ape Escape sequels >>>>Spyro & Crash
>>
>>7850407
when anyone argues the supremacy of anything portable i assume they have irritable bowel syndrome and spend multiple hours a day on a toilet.
>>
>>7852626
R&C and Jak are cringe
>>
the psp and vita are ignored too often in these types of discussions. Even ignoring any sort of backwards comparability the PSP has a pretty killer library- that in many ways he pairity with the ps1.

Not saying that it wins, just that it should be considered
>>
>>7852367
What handholding and Cinematic games? The fuck are you talking about, dude? Also, there is was a lot of platformers for Ps2.
>>
>>7850373
Because Sony was the only company that was like "Gimme a bucket of chicken and I'll let you release a game on my console." Sega was basically a mess at the time, and Nintendo is notoriously strict when it comes to the games released on their consoles.

Also it was a time where 3 dudes in a basement could make a top selling game in like a year. All of those games were shoved onto the PS1.
>>
>>7850338
It is amazing how small the N64's library is. There were less than 300 games for the N64 in NA. Over a thousand for the PS1 in the US.
>>
>>7853224
Gamecube had far more games than the N64 but sold less which is a shame. It's like if the GBA sold less than the GBC, despite the GBA having a better games library
>>
>>7850236
Yes
>>
>>7851364
They look bad without scanlines
>>
>>7853224
It was cheaper to manufacture discs than cartridges.
>>
>>7850236
Probably could agree. Was asked for PS2 recommendations, and I checked the entire library from A-Z and couldn't come up with much aside from the obvious top sellers
>>
>>7850236
It's a hard pick between the PS1 and PS2. The PS3 and 4 were both garbage and the PS5 isn't looking any better so far
>>
>>7853224
>>7854030
Sony consoles also have a reputation for continuing to get games, particularly sports titles, well into the next gen. The final FIFA game released on PS1 was FIFA 2005 for example. Nintendo consoles typically aren’t like that.
>>
>>7850276
A phat PS2 has 100% of the PS2 library and superior PS1 support.
>>
>>7852626
r&c and jak is exactly the type of handholding he was talking about. 1 hour long cutscenes interrupted constantly with dialog every time you take 2 steps. spyro 2 and 3 were already pushing scripted dialog too much, ps2 era just made everything worse
>>
>>7852908
psp is ps1 machine on /vr/
>>
>>7852908
>vita
It's most notable titles are "definitive" ports and dime a dozen JRPGs and VNs. Outside of that, the library is plagued with inferior handheld renditions of home console/PC games.
>>
>>7850407
Why not the vita? It's just a superior psp.
>>
>>7850276
If you have xbox series x you have 4 generations of games thanks to backward compatibility, by your logic it make series x the best console in existance.
>>
>>7854781
Really makes no sense to me. Are they made by third-world devs that can only afford to make games for last-gen consoles?
>>
The PS1 struggled with 3d platforming. Sure there were games like Crash Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon, but they were nothing like what was on the PS2. Also the arcade fighting and racing games were further improved.
