>>7453167It's prince tricky
>>7453160Don't forget this: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1qRmxvCS6Uu90oqQtnCy8JNH2Rghx3y9hPpvjVoqiY3Q/edit
>>7453171Shit, I can't believe I fucking forgot about thatIt wasn't even posted too long ago too
>>7453167Someone wished to the monkey paw for videogame leaks, COVID-19 is just the terrible curse that comes with it.
Where do I go after clearing Discovery Falls?
>>7453160this is all so exciting.Dinosaur Planet leaking opens the floodgates. Anything's possible now.I can almost TASTE Zelda 64 A+B.
>>7453178To release the krazoa spirit.
>>7453171>guide written for Project 64lol
>>7453210Better than nothing i guess. I play on Mupen64plus tho.
>>7453190He won't accept it.
>>7453218lmao how many times did you crash to take that picture?
>>7453219Fifteen I think.
>>7453234was it worth it? Go back to the swap stone and hand that spirit in lol
>>7453160i've been playin it... what a great game... now who's going to port it to the dreamcast
Just realized somethingConsidering that they were just starting to add in Fox at this point, and probably immediately afterward started the shift to GameCube, this is probably the most complete version of the original vision we're ever going to see. And it's a buggy incomplete mess.
>>7453236It opened the door to this place so ehhh kind of...
>>7453256her head is really ugly
>>7453251nah, a lot of shit probably got fucked up and dismantled with the asset flipping going on. Likely not the case at all. Doesn't matter though, this is more than I ever dreamed of. I was on my last decade of hope.
>>7453256>>7453257how did this ugly face turn into such a furbait by the final version
>>7453258The game has a lot of problems with trying to access stuff in RAM before it has had time to load. Seems like they were having problems with memory management, despite having about 7MB to play with.
>>7453268I doubt they ever got to the optimization side of things. This probably isn't even the final build before migration.
>>7453257Wait until you see my finished furbait
>>7453270Dinosaur Planet was officially merely months from release. I think the project was in more trouble tech-wise than Rare were letting on at the time.
>>74532733 months is a long enough time to clean up a game. Even zelda has a lot of softlocks before later carts.
The fuck is this thing? I shoot it and it stops wiggling for a bit then it goes back to it.
There was a cave with a bat and a shiny down here too, but rapids wouldn't let me go there. Fell through some void in the stone area to get here.
>>7453279bats do fuck all but annoy you in this game. just like any other.
I need to figure out what to do now that I smashed the shit out of the robot
>>7453306I'm still fighting the river boss. That shit is a complete gamble thanks to not being able to log down.
>>7453261DP Krystal = teenSFA Krystal = adult
>>7453261link doesn't exactly look like his art either in zelda
people have started doing comics now that this leak came out.
>>7453319nah the pic you posted looks pretty much like the n64 character
Seems like I can't talk to him despite the prompt after the whole big scene.
>>7453261You must not have seen all the different concepts she had or something. She has a few that are similar to what she ended up with in SFA
>>7453328no it doesn't lmao
>>7453335It does when you throw hair on it which some of the concept art does.
>>7453335Look, I know that midriff anywhere.
>>7453345i mean the face is completely different, starting with the eyebrno wait you're insane stop talking to me
>>7453351Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it's not how it is.
>>7453261This version was more cutesy. I seriously hope none of you think this is bad. Obviously the small proportions made more sense for the hardware.>>7453314She's 16 in Dinosaur Planet, and 19 in Adventures, according my sources.
>>7453358Neither are bad. N64 wasn't really known for it's high quality models nor was ps1.
>>7453358it looked horrifying in 3d, then you posted the art and i'm like "huh that's why it looks horrifying, IT IS"
>>7453361You're just reaching. Doesn't really matter.
It appears that my c-stick menu has stopped showing up after that. Now what? I really don't want to fight broken Cape Claw again.
>>7453361I think you just want to complain about something since /v/ is in slow mode.
>not using royale + 4x supersampling at 240pAll these clashy low res UI elements and soupy N64 textures flagrantly on display...
>>7453365Once I cleared cape claw I avoided it just because of mr gold man. He will not leave unless that gold is picked up and since you can't pick it up without crashing....shiney.....
>>7453367u are insane
>>7453368I don't even mind it. I'm playing in 4k and basking in the pixels. Just so long as the shadows are working I'm fine.Bless the man who did that quick fork fix on glide.>>7453373Didn't ask plus you're dad's a lesbian
>>7453375u are INSANE
>>7453361I hope you aren't dense enough to call one of the cutest girls in vidya horrifying.
>>7453375The game's shadows soft shadows are pretty fucking neat. Here I thought Conker was impressive. Shame this thing runs at like 12fps stock. At least you can overclock emulators.
>>7453378It's low hanging fruit
>>7453160can someone get a recording of how to do the log glitch so get the shiny nugget to spawn in the cave please? I cant seem to wrap my ape brain around it
>>7453387Can you wrap your ape head around how I said it crashes when you pick it up pj64 rendering and extra bugs kun?
>>7453325You know it really doesn't which is weird because it couldconcept art head is literally a softened cube with an edge facing front. In-game model is more round and less geometric. The ears are also totally different.
>>7453381it's pretty good just don't look at her eyes they are cursed
>>7453306shoot the middle set of statues that should make some platforms appear then you hit the 4 buttons up top
>>7453392The eyes look really good on native hardware but emulation takes away from them a bit. This goes for every character.
>>7453390I can wrap my head around possibly having a way to have fixed item pick up crashes but wanting to test it
>>7453402To do the log glitch you need to get on the log and force the game to go into aiming mode. I've done that by holding forward, lock on and attack all at once over and over till it let me into first person. From there on out you have control of both the log and yourself but a lot of shit on ground is restricted. You might end up randomly going into aiming mode which you can exit by mashing on lock on or holding it and releasing. Sometimes it's easy to get out of. Trial and error will give you the best results. When you DO get the log glitch remember that you want to push the log into that room and then walk your way up to an npc without actually hitting A till you get to the npc (this could cause the log to leave the room because it will respond to your presses no matter where you are) After the cutscene you'll teleport next to the log. Don't ask me how I figured this out.
>>7453396so what you're saying is always beat off to original hardware
>>7453410Adding onto this you can speak to the dino as well and he will unglitch your log mode by putting you back on the log itself instead of next to it. Gold cape claw guy will just teleport you next to it.>>7453413I don't give a shit what you do.
sliding glitch wins again baby
>>7453378SFA krystal looks like shit, looks like a fursuit instead of an actual anthro design
sliding glitch with cutscene textures reveals she wasn't commando afterall for the lurkers who have no intention on doing more than shitposting and waiting for pics to repost later.
>>7453160Is there a hacker forum that shows how to get past the boat??do i need to run windows??
>>7453426>get past the boatlol
Every screenshot or footage I see only has 3 apples for life, are there no ways to get more?
>>7453448Why did you have to remind me? I wanted to hug that guy so bad.
https://youtu.be/Wi4TwJbZWlI
>>7453319Reminder that Krystal in Dinosaur Planet is 16. Krystal in Star Fox Adventures is 19. Rare were evidently aware of the issues redesigned lewd Krystal might cause, so they aged her up.
>>7453468didn't askdidn't ask
Another screenshot of that stone place before I left. Aside from this there wasn't really much else. Just a SharpClaw at a bonfire and climbable vines you could only go up and down on.
>>7453462the lighting is really good, but man does the framerate chug compared to treasure cove trove
>>7453410thanks anon it worked >>7453462
>>7453474Nice to see my weird ass exploits are helping someone. let me know if you have any other parts you think need bypassing and I can say if I've done it or not.
>>7453471I climbed around all that shit but the geometry wasn't loaded when I did it. Nice to see there really is something there. This game is less picky about where you can walk compared to the gcn one. That one will outright just lock you in place when you go just a tiny bit out of bounds.
>>7453468> furry jailbait
>>7453160>sabre disguiseHow do you get that? Is in the game or is it modded in?
>>7453487you have to get krystal to cloud runner fortress
>>7453462>didn't crash after picking it upWhat sorcery is this
>>7453490Thanks! I only just started playing and I didn't care for Fox's model all too much, nice to know there will be an option to change it later on.
>>7453491the power of a powerful and dangerous ancient artifact
>>7453271Dinosaur Planet Krystal should not be lewded, she is too pure and innocent.
>>7453494Don't some flash carts murder that? Good thing I have 2.
>>7453498No idea as Im emulating
>>7453160I'm only an hour or so in. How did you get Sabre instead of Fox?
>>7453503I see, well then good work.
>>7453492Fox looks alright but his presences in the lore makes absolutely no sense.>"I am Fox McCloud prince of the Lylat Systemwut
>>7453506see >>7453490
>>7453506>>7453490
>>7453509>fox looks alright
>>7453509gawsh he looks hansome
This guy has a creepy face.
>>7453513She's still cute in a different way but I'm glad this Conker tier shit was replaced with yorf Krystal.
>>7453509Playing the game so far, I don't feel as bummed out anymore we got Star Fox Adventures instead of Dinosaur Planet. There are already a lot of similarities making me feel the game already ended up how they were wanting it to, just with shoehorned Fox McCloud included. Personally, I feel like the lore is already jank as is, the game itself is awkwardly written even without Fox.
>>7453509maybe they could've made that a joke. When he tries to tell everyone he's a space pilot no one believes him
>>7453526The biggest problem with the final product was Krystal only being playable for 5 minutes.
>>7453524I like both to be honest. Always have. I find it funny how they basically erased fox's personality halfway and turned him into an offshoot of sabre in future games right up to krystal having a thing for him.
God I haven't used PJ64 in so long. Couldn't even get it to run on 2.1 and rice's video isn't compatible with 1.6 so the textures are fucked.
>>7453539Each game progressively shat on her character more until she was just kind of a bitch. I like how much sweeter she is in this version.
>>7453169I hate you. Lol'd
>>7453542pj64 is the zsnes of n64 emulation dude. >>7453548They fucked all sides of this game with the gamecube move honestly. And the tech they used to make the game went with them when rare left so it didn't even help future games on the console. Conker Live and Reloaded looked REALLY good though. Some changes I didn't like in it but it was more than just a shit tier remaster like what they let out these days.
>>7453530True. The game builds up her appearance at the beginning and she's even featured prominently on the boxart, but it never bothered me all too much. Perhaps they ran into issues with trying to have 2 playable characters and it was easier to focus more effort on Fox. Personally, I don't care for Krystal's design in Star Fox Adventures, so if it makes furfags angry I'm fine with it. >>7453548I think they were trying to drive up the horny factor by making her more sassy in later titles.
>>7453481I never like to watch speedruns for reasons but make an exception for SFA ones because of that. Its positively hilarious. For any one wanting to go there just simply backtrack to that well area and iirc just one stone is able to have the krazoa work on it. To get past the guard I z-targeted on him and slid through his left slide instead of the whole clipping the wall method. Lot more frustrating to do and it doesn't help that you have river tier crashes bombarding you.
>>7453495porn artists > concept artists
>>7453561Watching speedruns of the gcn version of this game is fucking hilarious because it's so VERY easy to softlock. Speed runners getting mad is as fun to me as watching people plug on me in fighting games. I also like to see them pull off the tricks they want too so it's a win win for me.
>>7453542>PJ64I bet you still use nesticle and zsnes too
>>7453564SHOULD NOT BE LEWDED
>>7453564Concept artists who do porn > daz fags and trace artists
>>7453567No I use snes9x. Didn't know there was a better alternative to PJ64 but I'm glad to know I can finally throw it in the trash where it belongs. Is it bizhawk or mupen?
>>7453573bizhawk or mupen yeah. Mupen def is a solid choice with glide
These character models are incredible for N64. Rare were wizards with that hardware.
>>7453567nesticle is actually pretty good, its fast
>>7453561is anyone gonna stream a playthrough of thisi'll suffer the crashes, for fun
>>7453582I think it's too unstable to. I used about 30 savestate slots and pause buffering like crazy to get about half way through the game just to get>hey you can't swap characters if you're carrying a spirit>you can't go to the spirit shrine, you don't have any spirits!
>>7453582I've already seen some on Youtube. I'm looking forward to romhacks that get it into a more complete state.
Do we know if later areas like Dragon Rock are there?
so thats a new one
>>7453582So far a lot of people streaming knew fuck all about games or were looking for clout because this is new. I'd rather just see clips and save the streaming for segmented showcases of what has been figured out. Most of us are picking through single areas because there is just so much shit to dig through and find. Some areas work completely fine with minor glitches only if you sequence break. And then sometimes what seem like a glitch actually is just because you didn't activate something.tl;dr rather explore this bad boy.
holy shit that framerateSome of the underground ares where you get staff upgrades in the final version and the pond where you meet tricky seem to be running at least at 30fps.
>>7453587>I'm looking forward to romhacks that get it into a more complete state.Same here. Collision problems are a big issue I've been running into, I keep finding invisible walls or getting stuck on the inside of ledges.
>>7453596Those areas flat out can hit 60. A lot of the speed drop down probably comes from them pushing this game to the limit and not being optimized at this point of things.
It's amazing how much a few weeks did to builds in starfox 2 so this could only need a few tweaks here and there to get properly running in some spots. I expect patches to come and go as information is gathered. Nothing will happen in just a day though.
>>7453324typical npc takeWhat's new.
>>7453596needs a DC port
Where's cloudrunner at?
Krystal looks like a rodent.
>>7453605The loading whenever the game loads a new area would suck. Even on cartridge this barely works.
>>7453610they're probably decompressing audio on the n64
>>7453425Epic
>>7453598I had Fox freeze when walking around Tricky's dig spots a few times. Swinging the sword seems to get him unstuck.
>>7453625You get auto unstuck after awhile no matter what you push in this version. It's kinda nice.
Tricky growls at you if you hit him with the sword. Have you considered not running face first into my sword while I'm in a fight, my dino dude?
There's a gameshark code to force the pickup item model to be the red gem. This fixes crashes when picking up keys.
>>7453635How prevalent are these bugs or glitches when playing on an Everdrive?
Kinda surprised a lot of the dialogue is the exact same recordings. For some reason I figured it would all be different takes.
>>7453635Time for me to start yet another new game just for the sake of everyone's progression.
>>7453645Mostly the same as emulators. The game has a combination of broken/missing scripting and streaming problems. The game is unfinished, and was notable for being unstable at fuck in its E3 2000 booth demo to the point people can be heard mocking the idea that the game is "almost complete".
>>7453650Was the source code leaked with this too or is it only the ROM? I'm beginning to feel like this game only gained such a cult following because of the mystery behind it's development and the game's premise.
This is good fun. It's taking me back to the days when I narrowly avoided being a legit furfag.
>>7453667I don't care what anyone jacks off to until they become an extremist who reminds you their tastes 24/7
>>7453663It's the rom. Decompilation work has already begun.>I'm beginning to feel like this game only gained such a cult following because of the mystery behind it's development and the game's premise. We've had the game's entire plot since 2010. We've had all the voice acting since 2013. The cult following revolves around the general vibe of the game, and how badly the Star Fox Adventures reboot was butchered in terms of plot, characters, and tone. It's like the Snyder Cut meets uncut version of Land Before Time of Rareware games.
>>7453635when picking up any item. its how I got the shiny nugget
>>7453670This is why I'm here as well.
>>7453670It still has a lot of the same flaws as Star Fox Adventures. Tricky, Bartering, Item Usage, Lengthy Text Boxes. I've always been interested in thinking how the game was supposed to turn out, but it doesn't seem too drastically different, Star Fox Adventures seems to include a lot of what it was inevitably going to end up being. The writing and dialogue is still a bit cheesy and awkward too.
>>7453675>bartering>negative after those classic linesopinion discarded.Guide is wrong about not being able to kill this guy. Just fucking hit him one time and he's dead or shoot.
>>7453670It could also be compared to Legacy of Kain, where there's a fascination with how much was chopped out of that game late in development. But DP is so much more drastic in how the story was simplified and reworked, and the general feel of the game was shifted away from bleak and moody and dystopian towards something... more Nintendo-esque. Krystal being an actual PLAYABLE character in DP instead of a plot device is a foundational shift that has so many cascading effects on the overall narrative. The frustrating part is that Krystal is clearly the "main" protagonist of DP. She's the one who is supposed to go back in time after Sabre dies, too. That's what makes her being displaced by Fox so jarring narratively.
Just from the opening alone this game has an entirely different vibe.
>>7453681It sounds like a good idea on paper, but the fact you can just set a lowest price and keep retrying until he sells it is what makes it jank. If he became offended or refused to sell it if you tried to barter too low, the system would work. I don't hate the idea of bartering, I just think the way it was executed is weird.
>>7453687And? Other games with casinos or bartering have the same thing. I exploited the fuck out of most casinos in games with massive save scumming.
>>7453675>The writing and dialogue is still a bit cheesy and awkward too.if you don't get starry eyed every time Krystal opens her mouth and Eveline Fischer starts talking, I think you're probably not the target demographic. Rare had a particular approach to writing and dialogue that is very characteristic, especially in their later N64 games. It's a core part of the appeal. Krystal being Joanna Dark and Krystal/Sabre's adopted father Randorn the Wizard who murdered Krystal's entire people in revenge for the death of his sons during the war between species being Daniel Carrington is half the reason to play the game.
>>7453686It's glaring how the opening of SFA has Krystal as a hapless moron who gets the shit smacked out of her by Scales, wheras she holds her own in DP.
>>7453691the other half is to jack off to sexy the fox, but shes not even hot in this version
>>7453695They completely wasted the voice actor and character they had written beforehand and that is the biggest crime. Not just to the game but to the entire universe. >>7453696She wasn't really that good looking on gcn either which is why half the nut spilled is to fanart and not ingame models.
>>7453701push lightly on the control stick she looks hot when she walks under that moody pirate ship lighting
>>7453702kinda meh tier. I gave her an oogle but she lost me when she got tossed off the ship like a bitch and flew to an island for no reason at all. She had no fucking point to be on the ship at all if all she was gonna do was job and run away.
>>7453687He kicks you out in this build if you fail the barter 3 times
>>7453706Just like the final. Except this time it's risky because you might crash trying to go back in.
>>7453691I've played Perfect Dark, Banjo-Kazooie, Banjo-Tooie, nearly every game Rare has worked with Nintendo on, but the dialogue is a bit off so to say. There's not necessarily anything wrong with the story or the character's personalities, but I think a lot of the dialogue comes off as "early draft" and could've done with a rewrite to make it flow better or sound more natural. The scene I'm talking about in particular is when Krystal finds Randorn and he suddenly just starts talking about how Dinosaur Planet was created. For players it might not seem odd, but it's weird when there's this tension to save Kyte, Randorn is mortally wounded, and suddenly players need an exposition dump. It would just fit better at a different part in the game with a better way of explaining it.>starry eyed every time Krystal opens her mouthWhat are you implying? I like the premise and characters, but I don't have to like everything about the game to enjoy it.
>>7453720He mentions all that shit because he will fucking die if the magic get sucked away from him.
>>7453720While I get what you're saying, I think the structure kinda resembles Jet Force Gemini, where you start the game, there's a cutscene, you land on the planet, and then the Tribal chief gets all "LET ME TELL YOU THE STORY OF MY PEOPLE" on your ass. DP and JFG have the same director, IIRC, and the two games share tech and probably have more similarities if you dig enough. I think a reason why people are forgiving of DP having a fuckhuge infodump is because it's all interesting plot stuff that was sorely missing from SFA for the most part.As for the other thing, I was just being cheeky about how much fans love Eveline Fischer.
>>7453727sfa story is kinda retarded. The arwing sections felt like a lesser superman 64 style fuck you.
ARF!
>>7453731The SFA story is a severely butchered version of DP's held together with tape, key characters removed, and Fox crudely pasted over Krystal's sections. It's bizarre how much they cut the game down, but I suppose they were rushing to ship because they had so little time between the SFA soft reboot and ship date in March 2002.
>>7453738I'm just fucking shocked they managed to not fuck up the shopkeeper. Maybe the lack of time is why they didn't.
>>7453738There's a real tone of regret among ex-Rare devs who worked on DP/SFA, firstly that the game lost a lot of what made it unique, and also that they were pushed into a position where Krystal had to be almost entirely cut from the game. Once it was Star Fox branded, they couldn't very well remove Fox, couldn't they? As they began to pare the game's content down, the original split between Krystal and Sabre was no longer working.
>>7453727>I think a reason why people are forgiving of DP having a fuckhuge infodump is because it's all interesting plot stuff that was sorely missing from SFA for the most part. That and because it's new. And I guess any sort of criticisms this early could seem like I'm implying Star Fox Adventures is better or that Dinosaur Planet is bad, but that's not what I'm getting at. I just notice that some of the same criticisms people have with the world and lore in Star Fox Adventures still exists in Dinosaur Planet. The plot may have been butchered by having to include Fox, but for the most part, the world and lore is relatively the same, only the plot and characters are shifted. The planet is still Dinosaur Planet. I don't dislike Star Fox Adventures, but knowing the worldbuilding remained relatively the same doesn't make me all too bummed out about the shift from Dinosaur Planet to Star Fox Adventures, although I still would've preferred the game to exist instead as Dinosaur Planet and with the way the plot was supposed to be.
>>7453771 continued commentI guess I could say before I knew what Dinosaur Planet was supposed to be like, I was entirely and severely bummed out that we got Star Fox Adventures instead. But now knowing that a lot of the level design, world, lore, etc. remained intact, it doesn't sting as badly. I'm still bummed out, yes, but to me the transition is a bit more understandable even though I don't agree with it.
>>7453771I mean Drakor is actually relevant to the plot we can tell. also some of the darker story bits remain like Queen cloud runner getting shot and killed
>>7453771>The plot may have been butchered by having to include FoxThe plot of DP barely exists in SFA. Certain beats are the same, of course. But the connecting tissue is gone. The context is gone. Adding Fox didn't cause this. The original plot context of Dinosaur Planet is of the war between the Krazoa and the Dragons. The Krazoa are manipulating Krystal. This is the Vorlons and Shadows from Babylon 5. This whole angle is gone in the final game, except maaaaybe for some tiny hints.http://www.dkvine.com/interactive/forums/index.php?showtopic=8482There was a transitional plot of Dinosaur Planet where Star Fox elements were present, but all the DP stuff was still there. This included the Dragons, and what is called the "Majestic 8", consisting of 8 planets, including Earth, where an evil race called the "humans" resides. This is all missing from SFA's final version. The plot and lore is skeletal. They even removed time travel, which is a super important plot point.
>>7453806They probably didn't even get around to making a lot of that content. The glorious story you're telling us about is what they would have done with more time.
>dbz infinite world was allowed to release after burst limit and it was amazing>dino planet wasn't allowed to release but eternal darkness was without it getting butchered. If only too human didn't happen. Fucking stupid devs.
>>7453797In the end, I feel like any flaws not related to story that Star Fox Adventures has are flaws that Dinosaur Planet would've also had if it were ever released. >>7453806>where an evil race called the "humans" resides.Sounds somewhat edgy or a cheap worldbuilding hook. I don't think I would've liked this. Time travel as a plot point is finnicky and divisive, there's a lot of ways it can go wrong and quickly become convoluted. Couple this with overambitious worldbuilding and you might end up with something cringeworthy and awkward.
>>7453816The audio has been ripped from the N64 rom, and the first clip is the awoken Krazoa talking to Krystal about the alignment of the Majestic 8. Looking at the rom, there are no subtitles for that dialogue. (That I can find.) So it's probably recorded dialogue for a cutscene that wasn't scripted at the time. The reason this is a bit promising is it means that once the game is decompiled, rom hackers will probably be able to cobble together a "to be continued" ending that goes beyond what exists in the game.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yNoi8ihwiW8However, the Eight are mentioned in the subtitles:>I am Quan ata Lachu. First spirit born, one star of eight.
>>7453849something like that was mentioned as soon as the spirit chestburster came out
>>7453856Is there voice acted dialogue in DP that doesn't have any subtitles? Because it looks like a few Kyte lines aren't voiced, so it seems possible the opposite could be true.
>>7453867The shit the swapstones say to you absolutely don't match the dialog they say along with many others. Sometimes you have to pause or entire lines get cut off in some spots. The subs def don't always match. There is a lot to take in on each cutscene to the point where I try to watch them multiple times to be sure I did not miss anything.
This section is such a show stopper for me. I know it's probably a lack of log but for whatever reason the camera angle changes here out of my control and I can't keep it locked to try to cull out whatever is fucking up stuff. I'm pretty sure you're supposed to be on the log at this point but it starts in the river.
>>7453448if its anything like SFA/typical Zeldas, then you get them after beating a boss
>>7453871That makes sense. The Majestic 8 plotline is a Star Fox hybrid thing.>“Sauria, the Dinosaur Planet. Earth, home to our newest universe members, a very evil race, the humans. Aleminach, our glorious world, it awaits our return. Corneria, your pitiful world, we cannot wait to see it suffer. Nibiru, home to the Nephilim, a land of giants. Eridal, the Kamerians world, soon to be destroyed! Forever! Melqua, a world of water, with rings of gold. The final planet. Selaf, home to the Anunnaki.”I'm assuming this is in the N64 cart, since the other dialogue is. What they've done is rewrite some of the dialogue in this build to incorporate the new plot where 8 planets exist, including Corneria. But they didn't update the subtitles to match the new dialogue. Ordinarily you'd think the subtitles are more recent than the voice recordings, but no, in this case the voice acting supersedes the written script. The subtitles will have to be changed in the rom to match the voice acting.
>>7453879There's actually a log right after the first cliff you have to jump off to access that river, but good luck getting on it.
>>7453887>>“Sauria, the Dinosaur Planet. Selaf, home to the Anunnaki.”>a very evil race, the humansWhat character is saying this? Why does Earth exist in this? Sounds somewhat convoluted, big potential to be cringe if done wrong.
>>7453895yeah you'd need a platform to get on it or to be in standing status. And that definitely won't happen with the sword. Only krystal can pull that kinda shit off with air attacking easily
>>7453898Drakor possibly?
damn that was harder than it needed to be. I had to be touching the left wall the entire time or the game just instantly crashed
>>7453903If it's a villain or a deceiver, it would make sense why they would call humans an evil race, but it just feels weird to include Earth as is, the world feels too cartoony and outlandish to include real world Earth and Humans as is ala Sonic Adventure or Sonic '06. Dinosaur Planet has a big cartoony fantasy vibe to it, just seems awkward to try and make something "deep" out of it.
>talk to egg bitch, she says her eggs have been stolen>It's voiced and crashes on the second subtitle after she tells me to leave the beach.I remember reading about this but never got here due to the river boss.
>>7453908>Dinosaur Planet has a big cartoony fantasy vibe to it, just seems awkward to try and make something "deep" out of it.Krystal's adopted father genocided her entire people. You know the completely pointless "Maybe I'll find answers about my parents" stuff in Star Fox Adventures? Well, Krystal gets her answers in DP. It's a slightly odd scene where she forgives Randorn and says she barely knew her parents, and she considers him her real father despite what he did.
>>7453912If you pause the game before the crash, all the subtitles will cycle here I just discovered which means you can see all of her dialog. She refers to fox as sabre which means this is old dialog. We supposedly have a spellstone already somehow here which means this area is probably not the correct path for sabre's first area. That may be why the crash happens. It could be anything though.
>>7453918Fox DOES reach for his pocket before the game crashes. It might be another model fuckup for player holding an object.
>>7453919>Fox DOES reach for his pocket before the game crashes. It might be another model fuckup for player holding an object. This seems extremely likely. A lot of crashes in DF are related to object loading. The streaming system has issues. Some are avoidable by pausing the game long enough for loading to finish. Others will require hacking, like the key pickup crashes.
>>7453913Isnt that because her people killed Randorn's other son/sabre's older brother?
>>7453913That still feels realistic or plausible for the world it's set in, maybe a bit odd to say that Randorn alone genocided her people, but would make sense to say he caused and played a large role. Including Earth feels like such a stark contrast to "planet with talking dinosaurs and animals." It feels distracting to the world it's set in. Maybe if more of the story took place in space and we saw other planets.
>>7453919I wonder if the pickup fix gameshark would work there aswell then?
>>7453927no, it would have to know the value for what he pulls out of his pocket which is a spellstone or something.
dude what the fuck that sandworm just raped the hell out of me. I never saw it coming.
>>7453923Randorn's son(s?) were killed in the war, yes. And he massacred the shit out of them in response. But he feels extremely terrible about doing it. I think it was Rare's attempt to reflect upon the madness of war or something like that. It's a plot element that probably plays better when you've got the game's normal pacing and context leading up to it.
>>7453912> we don't want to take your eggstime already has
>>7453938I mean it probably helps when the Krazoa starting a war with the Dragons was the main conflict of the plot
>>7453898Here's the relevant audio from the DP rom.https://youtu.be/yNoi8ihwiW8?t=4442
>>7453526what?
Krystal's design is cute and wholesome in this version, why did they shift to the edgy semen demon design for the GC version?
>>7453987they finally had enough polys for round things like a butt
>>7453987To make up for the lost edgy plot.
log overloading
>>7454000ive heard rumours about log but i cant play it after the first partwhat role does log play in this game t o advange the plot?
>>7454005log allows you to get shiney which is an extremely important item that allows you to do a much less glitchy version of a key section. There are still crashes but it's much less so.
Her eggs are special but it scared me when she broke it. I thought it was over for the little guy. Turns out she isn't just an ordinary gal.
Time for some forcepoint templeas krystal
So is this game any good? The final version that actually released, I mean. As a kid I played the first half hour or so and thought "Where are the arwings? Why aren't I flying? This sucks!" and never gave it a fair chance.
>get hit>suddenly hear you pass but don't tell boss as I'm falling downreality is breaking again
>>7454043its okthe game is boring because whacking mushrooms is not very satisfying action
>>7454043It's not necessarily bad, but it is a limping shadow of what it was meant to be. The more you look at DP, the worse SFA looks.
Is Krystal's outfit a dress or does it have shorts or what even is it?
Gameshark code to replace fox's model with sabre's 81035B9C 081F81035B9E C000817F0000 2409817F0002 0002817F0004 0800817F0006 D6E9817F0008 A1C9817F000A 00AD
>>7454069damn, this will make cutscenes bearable now.
>>7454072the code makes cutscenes crash unfortunately
>>7454079A damn shame. The fox swap fucks up more things than not.
>>7454069>>7454079What about this one?
Yeah fox's jank is just that. his own jank. Saber's swap which I assume is sharpclaw still works will all cutscene emotes and the eyes move. They just shat something out to placehold I guess.
>>7453887>>7453958>Sauria, the Dinosaur Planet. What the FUCK, I thought "Sauria" was a rename Star Fox Assault introduced because of a Rare trademark or to avoid confusion with the series-established Fortuna! You're telling me Dinosaur Planet was planned to be namedropped as "Sauria" by Rare all along, even though there was no hint of it whatsoever in leaked and unused materials?
>>7454092It kinda makes sense. "Dinosaur" = "Saur" = "Sauria". But yes, Sauria is 100% a Rare thing.
>>7454092except this is actually canon now because of snes mini and switch.
>>7454096Uh, that was the SNES Star Fox manual, nothing to do with SF2 (though I guess Fortuna was in that game too, wasn't it?).
>>7454107It's absolutely in and there are animals all over it. The enemy patterns pretty much screamed it.
>>7454084so the original code is to swap the the HQ/cutscene models & textures in gameplay which is the code I posted with that edit to swap fox to sabre
>>7454069Any idea how to apply GameShark codes in RetroArch?
What would be more work. Fixing Dinosaur Planet on the N64 or reworking Star Fox Adventures on the Gamecube to be more Dinosaur Planet-y.
>>7454127Fixing Star Fox Adventures on GameCube, it would require creating new assets for the GameCube that simply aren't there compared to the N64 ROM.
>>7454127It'd be easier to duct-tape DP into a semi-working product than modding SFA into something else.
>>7454127DP would be less work. SFA isn't even a finished game. The percent bar jumps all over the fucking place till they just say fuck it and spit out andross.
>>7454115It's a pain in the neck, but I just got done figuring this shit out earlier.Open the game, press f1, go to cheats, add a new cheat, give it a description, and type in the code. If the code has multiple lines, use a semicolon (;) in between them and leave no spaces(other than the ones that are part of the line). Then go back to the cheats menu and hit apply, note that some codes require a restart. If you want to copy and paste a long code, type a dummy string into the code field, exit retroarch, navigate to the cheats menu in the retroarch folder, open the dinosaurplanet.cht file, and replace your dummy string with your actual code. You still have to use semicolons and no spaces if you do it this way, but it's still faster if than typing everything manually for longer codes.
hmm
>>7454092My guess is that Rare was either insistent on THEIR Dinosaur Planet being different or were unaware of Fortuna at first, so the final left it vague for Nintendo to write in later. Assault went back to Rare's idea to make it a different Dinosaur Planet, which I think was a good call. Then it became "Primordial Planet" in Zero.>>7454095I mean it makes sense, but really I'm also surprised we got the origin of Sauria instead of, say, Cerinia.
Ah these fuckers
>>7454138RetroArch with Mupen64+ seems to be the only emulator that will run Dinosaur Planet properly, but the cheat still isn't working.
>>7454179Do I have to completely reset the game? Will the cheat not work off of a save state?
>>7454175These things unleash the greatest audio shitstorm I have heard in the game if you kill one
I fiddled with the cheats a bit more, I got it working, but the sword is white now?
>>7454179I know, the realtime shadows even work for me.I only tested one cheat, the one that swaps Krystal's in game textures for her cutscene textures. It worked fine. If a cheat doesn't work, I reccomend changing the cheat handler from the emulator itself to retroarch, though you will have to re-enter the memory addresses and values separately.>>7454185The Krystal texture swap cheat worked without even resetting. It swapped as soon as I resumed the game. If a cheat requires a restart, I would imagine that you cannot activate it without resetting and reloading your save, though I am an idiot so I could be wrong.
The rocks during this fight wear down as they shoot at you. Holy fuck these things are dangerous. And killing one manages to make shit crash instantly. I'm pretty sure you need to kill them to progress to the krazoa shrine.
Dunno what these things are but they pulse with lighting .
>>7454202I had this cutscene with the dinosaur work before, but now it crashes before the first line of dialogue starts playing.
Well this was a mistake.
>>7454217I warned people about that.I manged to kill those annoying drones. Onward to krazoa
>>7454213Tricky can dig them

>>745346816 is legal in yurop, burgerclap
It begins
>>7454237It ends despite letting me go back for some reason
The game keeps constantly crashing now in Diamond Bay, is there somewhere else I'm supposed to go first? I haven't switched back to Krystal since I started playing as Sabre.
magical ass shaking powers
The last thing you see before death
Sabre and Krystal in Melee/Akaneiamake it happen, would be 20x better than what nu-Smash is doing now with the transform gimmick.

>>745423616 and 17 are both legal is the majority of the U.S. In fact, only 10 states have an aoc of 18.You have to be 18 to be in porn, but that also goes for any civilized country.

>>7454260>do i fit in yet?you're insufferable./r/Kappa memes isn't retro
>>7454262The game is constantly crashing in this area now and I can't get it to stop even if I reload a save state and am standing still.
>>7454269Save and quit
>>7454271I've done that, but now there's an invisible wall around the dinosaur with the missing eggs, I was able to talk to her before, but I reloaded the game because I wanted a screenshot of the view at the top of the waterfall. Now everything crashes.
>>7454276Don't talk to her. Just get the egg and use it on her then go to the volcano place past the mountain with the worms by it.
>>7454281I wasn't sure were to go next. So the egg is in the cave behind her? The other area with the statues won't even let me near it without crashing.
>>7454283no it's the cave near where you landed. you dig the water spots with tricky.
>>7454254playable Krystal would be neat but i'd soon drink hot shit if there's combination of a spacie and Marthoid in the game.
>did all this bullshit>forgot to talk to tricky's stupid fucking mom before doing all this shit
>>7454281Is the Volcano Force Point Temple the first "dungeon" or temple in the game? It seems to be crashing less.
>>7454350no, since you are supposed to have a spellstone to enter it
>>7454356What is the correct order then or what's supposed to be done first? I wasn't able to do anything with Krystal because most of it seemed gated off. I assumed the game wanted me to play as Sabre until I did something substantial because of the whole introduction to swapping, but the snow area had a guard that wouldn't move.
>>7453176worth
>>7454361so afr the order is>play up until you get access to swapping>go back to krystal>go to cape claw>glitch past guard>do everything up till freeing kyte>cheat in key so you can actually free her>do all the stuff on the way back to the hollowafter that I don't think we quite know what the intended order of doing things is but I've got a suspicion that cloudrunner fortress might be first instead of darkice mines
>>7454370The guard asked for an item, but I couldn't find anything so I assumed there was something or items that had to be swapped between Sabre and Krystal.
>>7454375The guard is glitched. You're supposed to give him the gold nuggets to pass.
>>7454375the item is in a cave underneath that area that you use the logunfortunately it either doesn't spawn or crashes the game if you pick it up so what you have to do is run up to the side of the guard, go into aiming mode then walk forward after letting gomake sure to save state beforehand because you might fall through the floor instead
>>7454379So glitches are the only way to actually play/beat the game as of this point?
>>7454381Oh yeah
>>7454381or gameshark codes
>>7454379Any easy or consistent way to do it to do it? I've tried with the method of getting the camera out of bounds and aiming at the left side of the waterfall to run left, but I can't get it to work
>>7454464Ok, I managed to do it, but it crashed and now loads with a weird Krystal model everytime
>>7454483People are working fast.
>>7454485Ok, nevermind. It just crashed so hard that retroarch reset all of my settings to default away from the ParaLLel stuff.
>>7453770They are now Playtonic, right? As far as I know almost everyone jumped ship from Microsoft. Why not approach Nintendo for a chance to remake Dinosaur Planet properly, as Nintendo kept the DP IP? If Fox has to stay, just write him as they would've written Saber and call it an AU, it's not like Nintendo give a flying fuck about continuity or lore (see: Zelda)
>>7454232I'm gonna post it when I'm done. At my rate I could finish todayIt's an edit of 1978598 on e621
>>7454497Just give it up. Everything Miyamoto touches regarding Star Fox turns to shit. Be thankful we saw anything from Star Fox 2. There's no way he'd let Dinosaur Planet go because wolves and foxes look similar I guess.
>>7454115RetroArch's cheat GUI is shitty and confusing. It's best to just create a .cht file and manually edit it. Example:cheats = "2"cheat0_desc = "Have Kyte Key"cheat0_enable = falsecheat0_code = "805C4C51 0001"cheat1_desc = "Improved Krystal Texture"cheat1_enable = falsecheat1_code = "81035B9C 081F;81035B9E C000;817F0000 2409;817F0002 0001;817F0004 0800;817F0006 D6E9;817F0008 A1C9;817F000A 00AD"

>>7454586Is that at the end of the rapids that crash?
>>7453691WTF, they decided to go with Eveline?
>>7454543To be fair, for the longest time people thought Sabre was a fox.He does look a lot like a fox.
>>7454719Isn't he a wolf? Makes sense considering his name. Sabre Wolf.
>>7454743For fuck's sake Rare, we get it, you made a ZX Spectrum game a million years that nobody played claled Sabre Wulf.
So is there a point where the game ends? Just nobody has gotten there yet? Or do you just run out of stuff to do and places to go? Probably unknown at this point, right? It seems not many people have made it past discovery falls?
>>7454751Oi, what did you say about me speccy?
>>7454751haha wow I just got a 20 year old bad reference
>>7453160I wonder how much of the game was finished?
>>7454762Previous thread was said about 90%.But man it's so buggy.
The crashing in this game is severely affecting me now, it's gotten bad and it's crashing in even the most benign of areas where it didn't use to half it before. I went to go take a shit and thought I should save state in case I encountered a crash.
>>7454770Most games are until they're released. The 0.9 version of Ocarina of Time built three days before 1.0 has little cutscenes that lock the camera to a gold skulltulla so you can watch it die and spawn a token. You can abuse this easily to de-load areas by setting up a kill and leaving the room during the cutscene, such as leaving a bomb near a gold skulltulla and jumping down a hole.
>>7453425Fur on the stomach and between the thighs is usually a lighter colo(u)r.
>>7454784Yeah, I was thinking exactly about that, if the 0.9 build is 99% done and is so buggy, no wonder this 90% build is has so many softlocks.
The crashing has gotten so bad I can't even reload the game's save file and stand for 5 to 10 seconds without crashing. Any tips? How badly did I fuck up?
>>7454824save gamesoft reset go some fuckingwhere else
I have to abuse the pause button in order to walk, combat is impossible like this. The dinosaur near the beach has disappeared, even when I reload the game in the emulator.
>>7453425those aren't panties>>7454806The lighter fur ends with a heart shape just under the tail, according to some zoologist illustrators on the internet
>>7454846That's what I mean, I did save, I've been restarting the emulator but the game is now crashing hard in areas that used to be fairly stable.
>>7454850I'm not gonna debate it desu. It's just not solid colors so it's up in the air. Could be right.>>7454853Get killed by the worms or fall to your death somewhere and then reload Or start from an earlier save state. You DO make manual ones right?
>>7454858I'm not using save states right now, I have been using manual save states, I'm reloading, reopening the game file and starting from the title screen and even by doing this it crashes in 5 to 10 seconds unless pause is hit.
>>7454863You may have done what I did with cape claw and somehow made it where an entire chunk didn't want to load because I saved in a zone after glitching out of the map for hours. Either that or something else. You could try forcing the game to swap you to krystal and then swap stoning back to fox. That might introduce it's own bugs but it would be better than nothing.
>>7454870I got confused with Volcano Force Point and didn't think it should've been the first area in the game to visit, even though it's the easiest to get to at the moment. So instead I left and tried glitching past the Guard and Queen Earthwalker to see if I could get behind them. I managed to get past Queen Earthwalker, but there's an invisible wall behind her. So after figuring Volcano Force Point was the only place accessible I went back, but it doing so I glitched out of bounds and fell into Diamond Bay from a different point on the river.
>>7454882You suffer without touching the right loading points in this game. Might need to get out of there somehow via dying. Just avoid looking at things and chase death. Those worm enemies kill fast.

>>7454887I've somehow become a zombie that can't take damage from them.
>>7454903heal some hp then get killed. you probably died with 0 hp and used a bunny then immediately saved at 0 hp. or u log glitched and need to fall off the map. Go for the falling death.

>>7454915So this is a 90% complete build, just utterly broken?
>>7454963Bug fixes and optimization almost always comes in the last 4-5% of dev time because it's all cleanup work. adding checks for existing functions that just don't work as good as they should on release. A game relying on 1 function that gets cleaned up will crash a lot less than that same game relying on a buggier version of that function.
Help bros, I think I'm stuck in Discovery Falls. Both paths lead to inevitable crash while swimming. I think it expects you to be on a log, but there are none. Saving and reloading puts you back in the same area with no way to go back.
>>7454998I think that part is not supposed to be entered that early. I left because that shit was spooky and didn't see like it was supposed to be entered yet or at least at that part of the game.
So I have been replaying Adventures to try refreshing my memory of it and see the differences between it and Dinosaur Planet and after playing both I can say that the gameplay feels much worse in Adventures, everything is SO slow.>Combat feels better in DP, attacks are much faster and fights dont drag forever>AI feels better (when it works), Tricky follows you around instead of teleporting everywhere, he climbs and jumps the same obstacles as Fox, it feels very lively, also when facing the 2 sharpclaws in DP they both attack you at the same time instead of wating their turn like they did in Adventures>I also like that the hud is very clean, in Adventures you end with half the bottom screen filled with garbageI love the presentation of Adventures but it really likes padding, I had more fun the 1 hour I played of Dinosaur Planet than the entirety of Adventures>>7454915OH SHITActually, has anyone found if General Scales has a fight? or he just dies and never fight him?
>>7455047in DP the actual hits do little to no fucking damage except the last parts so the shorter combos are optimal. also damn it this shit said it was food when I picked it up and it was also invisible.
What do these swastikas on doors and boxes mean, it got changed three arms for SFA
>>7453509Knight, not prince. Remember how 64 was a reboot despite being the second released game in the series? It's possible that the initial idea was for this retooled Dinosaur Planet and other Star Fox games going forward to just be a series of games featuring the same main character but having zero ties to eachother, kinda like how every Final Fantasy has Cid but otherwise jack all in common. Another comparison, Link is in every Zelda game but who he is varies from Forest Boy, to Blacksmith, to Bodygaurd, to Train Engineer, to Goat Herder, to Police Officer, etc etc etc. Likewise, while SF64 Fox was a mercenary pilot who leads a team of mercenaries, DP Fox is a knight on a solo mission, same character different continuity and world.Anyway, might I ask, what are the odds of Nintendo fixing this build of Dinosaur Planet and releasing it like they did Star Fox 2?Or at least update Adventures to feature some of the cut content?
>>7455092krystal is a n*zi and rare
Any idea what to do with spellstone you get from Volcano Force Point?
>>7454998If you go down the river with the giant rib cage you'll eventually reach the LightFoot hut and maybe you can find yourself a way to clip out to freedom. I didn't manage to but I didn't spend a lot of time trying. Another more strange way to sort of freedom is going back to where you dropped into the bone zone and dropping into the water you see in that void. It'll make Krystal perpetually fall and after a minute or two you'll be "traversing" all sorts of maps like Cape Claw but never landing. I let it run for like five minutes until I gave up, but I wonder if you went on longer you'd end up somewhere.
>>7455095>Anyway, might I ask, what are the odds of Nintendo fixing this build of Dinosaur Planet and releasing it like they did Star Fox 2?Slim to none. Star Fox 2 was a completed game, and never released. Same goes for Earthbound Beginnings; a finished game but never released. The difference is we had the finished build of EB, while we only had a near complete build of Star Fox 2 and simply thought that's where development halted.
>>7455092Sharpclaw insignia.
>>7455125I also tried falling into the void and saving/resetting when the map changed, but it always put me back where I was.
anyone got that "be the log" art of krystal
>>7455095chances are between 0 and 1% lol. This is the best we could have hoped for. Nintendo don't care. Have you seen what they do with starfox? Rare might have some rights. Neither will ever realistically do anything. Maybe another short film discussing it on a Rare Replay 2 if it was made? Even thats a stretch.
>>7455146
>>7455152Thanks Anon!
>>7454915Where?
>>7455054meant to say in sfa the last hit of combos did all the damage. It was retardedly designed. I'm also now convinced our entire sabre path is entirely incorrect.
>>7455147Apparently, Nintendo kept all the DP rights once it became a Star Fox game. Similar to how Nintendo kept all DKC stuff Rare did.
Oh my God the triceratops actually died, this is edgy.
>>7455054>in DP the actual hits do little to no fucking damage Do they? hitting things felt better than the long combos in SFAAlso what are those red balls supposed to be, I didnt knew they could be picked up >>7455095No chance, I doubt they even care. The only reason they released Star Fox 2 was to promote the SNES mini so I dont see them investing in DP
>>7454915So the original Drakor fight was in space? I'm guessing those asteroids and other elements were just reused for the arwing portions of the game. Thats funny even the space part probably wasn't totally new for the starfox change. Theres only rings, asteroids and mines. So they made some rings, made some mines and used the Diddy Kong Racing flying to make a few quick levels in probably a few days lol. They really just threw a starfox skin on at the last second.
Kinda nice not to have to hear cringy Saurian dialogue. EETO WOOJKO GENERAL SCALES
I heard the news, but I'm pretty new to discussion on this, is the game completely playable, or should I wait for mods to make it completely playable?
>>7455187I corrected myself here >>7455182but to clarify, the middle parts of every string do almost no damage in sfa. Fighting is faster and to the point in DP. and it being basic is more fun for the fact that each hit does some damage.
>>7455194Playable is a spectrum not yes or not lol. If you don't want bugs wait, if you want to mess around and use some codes/glitches try it.
>>7453770>There's a real tone of regret among ex-Rare devs who worked on DP/SFAThen I hope the community puts together an amazing romhack and they get a chance to play it.
>>7455195a fuck didnt read that sorry, but yeah I took me a while to realize that the last combo hit was the one that thit all the damage, also hitting boxes for the eggs is faster in DP .
>>7455192I fucking hated that, why did they thought that was a good idea?
>>7455194theres around hour of playtime until it becomes mess, not to mention it can crash quite frequently and you need save states, gameshark and glitches to progress. so if that sounds appealing adventure then yes play it, if not then wait, Im sure some autistic is already dissembling and hacking it already so some day, or year its playable enough.
>>7455189This SUDDENLY ON A SPACE ASTEROID reminds me of the first PS3 Ratchet game.
>>7455236Perhaps their hearts were so broken they lost the ability to tell what is good anymore. Not an impossible thing to happen to an artist.
>>7455236Luckily it doesn't last long. Imagine being a voice actor tasked with bringing emotion to that gibberish.
>>7455192I honestly don't know what I hated more: hearing the gibberish or hearing GENERAL SCALES with excessive emphasis in perfect English.
>>7455236Any semblance of a cohesive plot was gone except for basic plot points. "Just spit some gibberish and be sure to say General Scales it'll be fine"
>>7455294Personally, hearing "GENERAL SCALES", it broke whatever attempt of ""immersion"" the Saurian language attempted to do.Maybe they should've planned "Saurian" words for english words in advance, kind of how klingon works. Essentially a cypher of the english language.I guess that'd include a new word for Scales.>>7455303>>7455259I can relate to being so dead inside you stop caring.Fuck.
>>7455308I guess you collect tricky instead of rare in this game.
>>7455254>Miyamoto: "See look there's asteroids floating around in this part, you even had a space battle in there. It's basically StarFox already!">Rare Devs (looking down and mumbling): I guess...>Miyamoto: "Just reuse those space assets and make it even MORE Starfox, it'll be so great! He fits right in the plot with a few rewrites. Aren't you excited? You're gonna be making a NINTENDO game!!! I'll even let you use ANDROSS!!!(if you're good)">Rare Devs: "EETO WOOJKO GENERAL SCALES"
>>7455189Many of the enemy types during the Arwing sections IIRC were from Star Fox 64, so it couldn't be entirely re-used assets.
>>7454246>>7454251Thank you for reminding me there are furfags that are autistic enough to want to fuck the dinosaurs.
>>7455305>Essentially a cypher of the english language. They actually did do that. They just for some reason decided to have specific words be spoken completely in English.
>>7455341As long as the official story is that Star Fox was simply a suggestion I will not believe that it was forced on Rare by Miyamoto/Nintendo.Forced on them by Rare's suits, maybe, but that's as far as I'm willing to go.
>>7455346No you don't understand. That is LITERALLY her power. That spot is crashy as all hell though so you won't see it much. She smashes shit with her ass and tail and it turns into shit. The camera literally pans on it and does 3 motion blur cuts.
This is making me want to replay SFA.
he said it. years early
>>7455353Then those autistic furfags are Rare themselves.
>>7455352So replace Miyamoto with Miyamoto+TIm and Chris Stamper?
>>7455358It'll pass. Go play Jumpman Jr. for a bit.
>>7455362ahem, scaliefags. This is a scalie planet anon. It's called DINOSAUR planet.
>>7455363Yeah sure I can accept that.
>wonder why krystal's swapstone fucks up sometimes>turns out it's his BROTHER there when he isn't supposed to be here sometimes
How far have you guys gotten. Is there a point where it's just a dead end? I'm going to venture a guess that Dragon Rock and the Walled City aren't even there yet.
>>7455361Said....... what?
>>7453841This, the plot sounds too complicated, while SFA's plot has it's flaws too, it at least is somewhat focused and not overly ambitious.
>>7455376It's just the impression I'm getting especially now seeing the Drakor was originally a space battle. Those arwing segments just feel so wrong and rushed to me. I can't wait to see footage of the Drakor fight to compare.
Does Fox sometimes just kind of slow down for no reason? As if you were lightly pushing the analog stick even though you have it fully pressed?
A bit hard to see the crack you explode to get here.
>>7455409sometimes hills fuck with your speed.
>>7455414They don't have to be very steep to do so. Just some slight uneven terrain can cause it.
>>7455409I get this weird issue with both Fox and Krystal where if I push the stick forward and right they won't turn in as wide of an angle as if I did the same to the left. Like, they almost continue moving straight on with just an ever so slight movement to the right.
>>7455047>fights dont drag foreverEnemies in Adventures have too much HP and guard too much. The quickest method I found to deal with them is to roll forward then do a sweep kick. It does a lot of damage and trivializes most of his moveset. I didn't even know there were roll combos until recently.
>>7455432The short combos all do dp damage for some reason. The neutral combos or leaning suck ass in dp.
It's nice to see Tricky actually climb shit instead of just losing him then hearing his mouth breathing behind you.
>>7455432It's not that they have too much health, it's that the initial combos do next to no damage, with only the finisher animations actually dealing something substantial.
>>7455440When they gave tricky the ability to say no, it's like his entire AI got retarded. SFA tricky < DP Tricky>>7455443Also this. The combos are worthless in SFA because only the last hit does any real damage.
>>7455092Sharpclaw logo. It's a naughty symbol because they're the bad guys. The rotor of Scales' galleon still has the same shape in the final version I think.
>>7455437>krystal properly on top of the logThis is terrible
>>7455047>Been saying "SFA was for the better in the end" for years.>Find out that DP really was shaping up to be the better game.
>>7455458You're wrong because she can do tricks on this log such as really fast barrel rolls
>>7455463Whoooaaaah
So what are the biggest areas found? Do some of the water/log areas rival the size of hyrule field? I always felt SFA was lacking a real hyrule field type exploration area.
>>7455308Hey Fox look what I found!N
What the other two slots open up. I can only access the area around this thing if that lower door is open so I can fall to it.
>>7455371Scalies are a sub category of furfags.
The other one. The waterfall disappears.
>>7455421There's definitely some analog jank.
>>7455437God I wish I was that log.

>>7455487https://streamable.com/pgihhiSome of us are just prisoners of war.....we have no stake in this battle. #notallsharpclaws
>>7455520I guess I showed off another trick I utilize in this video also.
>>7455475The last two levels were relatively large but that one area is the entire thing. Adventures loses steam after the ocean and bird place. You go through the same force point temples again and the final areas are just a big round large building in the middle layout. Then the final Krazoa spirit is just in the palace that you've already been to like 5 or 6 times.
>>7455520Look at all those footprints down there. This dude is nervous as hell
>>7455520Ah, the good old days of hamfisting gameplay tutorials into dialog.when will it end?
>>7455558I hope never
Anyone got this to play on mobile yet? (Can't access my PC atm)I'm using M64Plus FZ.
What if some of the glitchyness comes from the CD the Rom was stored on being old?
>>7455571The rom wouldn't run at all
>>7455571This question has been brought up before and the consensus seems to be that if there were problems with the disc there would've been errors when ripping the data.
The vines have been defeated. You can keep going up until you climb up a ledge through the wall and quickly turn around to land. Traverse the roofs to get to the lever to open up the jail which doesn't do anything.
>>7455236It's one of those things you can easily rationalize as being a good idea, but be unable to see how an audience member would perceive it.It really separates krystal's and starfox's world so they can collide. Everything in the opening segment of the game is ancient and unfamiliar and about necessity, then there's a hard cut to the greatfox and everyone is aloof with entertainment and surrogate activities. But when you sit through it the first time, it's just distracting, you have no idea if the whole game is like that, and you have to endure a lot of it before the "payoff".
I dun goofed and turned off my anti brap and laser shield and now this bomb is stuck to me which will explode and kill the 1 apple I have left. At least that would be the case if my best friend didn't give me a food bag.

You can jump onto this thing. Nothing happens. The scene that it's in lifts it up(?), but being in the midst of a void does it no favors plus you can't even get atop it in that state because it's behind the door.

>Starfox 2 is in development from 93-96, never released.>Nintendo actually gives a damn and makes StarFox 64, widely seen as the best in the series in 96, releases April 97. >Rare starts development of DP starts late 97 after Diddy Kong Racing. Finally released at some point in late 2002.They just shit out the best starfox game like it was nothing between two development hells this is kinda funny.
>>7455684I'm almost certain you can get in there under normal conditions where everything isn't a void and I will soon prove it. My current run has very different things happening. I manged to even get a krazoa into the thing with fox. >>7455809Wouldnt you rather have Krystal's dirty panties?
>>7455796Does this make his eyes and shit start working? I know they do in the sharpclaw game model fox uses but he also has a cutscene model somewhere I bet. >>7455830The textures used in cutscenes along with the model are slightly different. Hard to say if it's fixable with current knowledge I suppose. I believe there are always 3 player models loaded at any given time including some weird low poly krystal
What emulator are you guys using.
>>7455838I swap to real hardware for some sections to test things.

>>7455820Cutscene model for Sabre we have found. however it lacks animation
>>7455871Hmm, a shame. Might be some quick renaming of files that happened when fox was swapped in.
>>7455676That's one hell of a delay on audio
>>7455874Yeah, it goes away on fullscreen but it's totally all there windowed. This was just for demo purposes so I didn't bother fixing it. sorry for that
>>7455838Project 64 with angrylion. The game isn't playing nice with my computer in Mupen64 so I had to compromise. Angrylion at least fixes the graphical bugs the other PJ64 plugins seem to have.
>>7455875No biggie.
>>7455868I do want to be prepared for when the patched roms start coming out. Plus I can always play Tetrisphere in the meantime.
>>7455108In SFA that very same temple would be where you'd place the Spellstone (after visiting Dark Ice Mines). Considering DP just gives it to you randomly it's probably put there for testing purposes. Dunno if there's a way into the temple in DP without crashing yet, but someone found a trigger for a boss fight below Diamond Bay, which might help.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WKqAYDXVe9I
>>7455047I forgot to say that traveling between zones is easily the WORST thing about SFA, the game is full of blocked paths that you have to go around every time you want to go to a different place and it kills all the pacing. It amazes me how in DP you never do that, like when you go from the Warp Stone to Cape Claw you just go,you walk over there and thats it you dont have to go swim around a fence, go through a shitty maze and climb a bunch of ladders inside a well to get there>>7455796FOR REALHOW DO I PATCH IT AAAAAA
>>7455908>He doesnt know how to patch roms in current year
Obviously you have to drop the barrel and let the whirlpool carry it over to the obvious crack in the wall where you shoot it to blow up the wall and drain the water, right? Wrong. It won't make it close enough. You actually have to drop the barrel in the water, swim after it and pick it up again which lets you walk underwater and go right up to the switch and press it.
>>7453271from foxy ladyto pussy kat
Fox's face looks so cute compared to the final.
Behind said waterfall that turns off from earlier. There's barely visible lines making out an opening like the little cave, but TNT will not blast it open.>>7455704I'm excited to see that area proper. I haven't done a lot as Fox aside from recently just swapping only to get the scene where the SwapStone gives me distract so I'll have to go back to SnowHorn and see if it'll show up.
>>7455923You mean like this?https://streamable.com/l1p9lncharge shots move quicker
>>7455908The intermission sections in Adventures is likely because of how laggy and unstable the streaming system they designed was. If I worked on DP I would have nightmares trying to figure this shit out without just caving and making filler areas. This stuff solves the problem for the most part, though you can still run into hitching in Adventures if you go from Thorntail Hollow to Lightfoot Village (a simple A-to-B path).
>>7455937yeah the fox model is kinda goodthis game overall has reallly good graphics, better than conker.
>>7455942Also you can tell I fucked myself here since the rope reset and I only have 3 lights. I have to correct my mistake now without rope use.
>>7455684easily the worst animal character model Rare made on n64
>>7454915>spaceAnyone else get to this yet??
>>7455947The graphics are so good that some areas don't really look much different than the CGN version. Fox's model is noticeably different from Krystal and Sabre. Their proportions are completely different.
>>7455960I swear fox's model is just some random concept art uv mapped to his head.
>>7455957Well the game was unreleased and unfinished. The final model in SFA turned out ok I guess. This is a snapshot during development.
>>7455957
Dinosaur Planet>shows a cutscene of Tricky getting the attention of a guard, and Sabre goes and berates him after taking him outStar Fox Adventures>Fox still berates Tricky but the cutscene prior that shows that Tricky did something wrong was cut
>>7455974rushed game is rushed. chopping shit up and putting it back together not such a legit strat. I love tricky's bark at this audio level
Should I replay starfox adventures so I can compare it to this fucking masterpiece?
>>7455974Fox was completely out of character in SFA in general. no clue why nintendo thought that was a good idea
SwapStone was a liar. Distract didn't show up unless I did something wrong. Had to take the fun road.
>>7455991because they are the sales dept.
>>7455989It's a trip now after playing DP. I appreciate SFA more now since it seems like the pacing is better in areas you can directly compare, but seeing the parallels alone is worth it.
>>7455389Dragon Rock is here, located down a path behind the invisible wall in Swapstone Hollow. You have to moon jump out of bounds in the vine pit area to get there. It has a really creepy soundtrack and oppressive atmosphere. Can't remember if it was like that in the final release, but it's worth taking a look. The Walled City is also in the game, all you have to do is moon jump past Tricky's mom, then follow the path. You can even fight the T-Rex boss if you use the red gem cheat code to pick up the keys.
>>7456010>Dragon RockYou just triggered some bad fucking memories, anon. That section in SFA is seriously the worst thing I've ever played in a video gamehow the fuck did i end up a star fox fan?

>>7456046>The original protagonist of Dinosaur Planet was going to be Timber8 year old me is freaking out right now. I would have loved a Timber game as a kid.
>>7456076That' the power of joanna dark.
>>7455991I kindof unironically love that dorky version of Fox though, he's so out of his element out of a vehicle it's funny. I'd also somewhat argue he wasn't too out of character at the time if you consider he was practically a silent protagonist in earlier games, with very few lines in general. I'd honestly love another attempt at SFA Fox, if they ever make an on-foot game again.
>>7456034the fur effect was sooo coolwhy didn't nintendo at least get the fur effect into newer games? fucking losers omgg
>>7456081Poor guy got shafted twice.

Fox's voice actor is English right? He does a decent American accent but I hear that bong come out here and there like how he says, "wot d'ya mean?" to Tricky's mom.
>>7456081I noticed when fucking with values that there's garbage data for a third playable character, but nothing after that. It's probably nothing but it could be remnants of Timber's character if he wasn't directly reworked in to Sabre.
>>7456093Rare in their prime just slapped together a half assed Starfox minigame that's better than some of Nintendo's best efforts.
>>7456096All the actors are British (and Irish and Scottish), and Rare developers. Fox is Steve Malpass, who also voiced Jonathan, Elvis, and Grimshaw in Perfect Dark.
>>7456098It's just using a really low poly model of krystal as placeholder. I wish I knew what was gonna be there.
>>7456107I suppose it's possible at some point in development they were considering Fox as a third playable character instead of replacing Sabre, the build-date is like six months after the Miyamoto interview so they could have tried and scrapped that approach in that time.
>>7456084>he's so out of his element out of a vehicle it's funny. And then he became a ground warfare specialist by Assault.

>>7456327>>7456334Kameo started on the N64
Rare and the Dinosaur Planet team quite literally got cucked by Miyamoto, huh?
>>7456412Rare decided to make a game about two foxes and never considered making it a Star Fox game. At 90% completion, Miyamoto requested Rare turn it into a Star Fox spinoff. The team bitched and moaned about it, and didn't want to go through with it. They did it anyways. They were never forced to, they didn't have to, they just decided it was for the best interests of the game. They cucked themselves.
>>7456412>quite literallyQuite figuratively maybe
>>7456397Pain and dying.>>7456398An understatement really he didn't bluff at all. Scales wants the world https://streamable.com/8bc64n
>>7456417The higher ups at Rare accepted Miyamoto's suggestion.Blame the Stamper bros. Miyamoto could've simply been turned down but they saw a lot of potential in using the Star Fox IP to move units.
Miyamoto was an asshole in general, he just has a stalin-like cult of personality
>>7456417>Implying that you wouldn't let someone fuck your wife/daughter/sister for the right amount of money.
>>7456425Does he really have a cult of personality? /v/ and /vr/ fucking hate him, every Paper Mario fan hates him, Star Fox Adventures fans hate him (even though it really seems like he did nothing wrong in this one)
>>7456412They made Krystal their bitch for the next 2 games and used her to fuel a Ken Penders-esque relationship plot.
>>7456429Starfox Fans hate miyamoto period. Starwing was already a damn solid game before it was pitched to nintendo but damn F-zero and starfox fans have been getting fucked over by miyamoto for over a decade now. I think there's a good reason they don't like the dude. He's great at startups but not maintaining.
>>7456429Once upon a time, Miyamoto was really popular. Now everyone hates shim so much liking Miyamoto is now the contrarian opinion. The reality is that he's simply a man, flawed as any other, but he was also really good as a game designer from the Arcade to the N64 and some of the GameCube era.

>>7456485That didn't stop dkc3 or yoshi's island.
>>7456485Yes, but most people think it's Miyamoto because it wasn't clarified until much later. Everyone just goes off the early reports of Miyamoto saying to change it up.

>>7456485>Isn't Kensuke Tanabe to blame for the actual bad decisions in PM?Half and half. Miyamoto is the one who told the team to stop making Sticker Star a traditional Paper Mario game and to do something new with it. He also killed all OC's and made the NPCs generic Toads. Kensuke Tanabe is the star director behind that stupid garbage Tingle game who says that if the fans don't like his Paper Mario games and prefer the old ones, that makes him want to stick with making the new style games until we like them.Pic related, he really fucking meant it.

My fight money......
>>7456550you're not going to bait me into listing my fetishes, anon.
I'm starting to think the switch to GameCube is what really hurt the game, not strictly the Star Fox elements. We almost had Star Fox Adventures: Dinosaur Planet in the end.

>>7456609I think it's pretty much confirmed now, the change of hardware plus the deadline caused by the Microsoft buy-out was what fucked Dinosaur Planet, not really Fox being there.

>>7456609yeah, and the buyout by Microsoft which meant they couldn't delay the game to keep up with the shift (hence the cut/reworked boss fights, the nonsensical character moments, the half-implemented combat system, etc.).While I do think the plot woulda been stupid and a lot of the most frustrating aspects of gameplay unchanged, the game really suffered from the engine change. It went from "beautiful N64 project to cap the system" to "twelve hour tech demo">>7456613this is truly the worst part about it. the cut content means everything after Cape Claw or the icy area is suuuch a fuuucking draaaaaag
>>7456654>Scales was supposed to be the fifth boss I believe so i'd assume hes been done if Drakor isNot necessarily. Game development can often be all over the place.

Interesting that krystal's blaster uses sabre stance for the ik aiming in sharpclaw mode.
>>7456676consider that the star fox fandom is incredibly dedicated. we might get modders to tie this game together into something legit.

>>7456676It's a very late dev build, the game was planned for release just a couple months down the line, I'd be surprised if all the major assets weren't in already>>7456691Speaking of restoration projects, what are the chances something like that will get C&D'd to oblivion by nintendo?

>>7456694Bad gameplay, bad presentation, bad story, bad controls, and completely soulless. There's not even anything funny about Command.
>guide baited me into getting the fox spellstoneHow do I get this piece of shit off me? I beg of you
>>7456710There isn't a starfox game I don't own but I definitely don't think command was good.It HAD good elements such as all of the ships and theme songs for characters and a large cast. BUT they wasted it by making 95% of the levels be the exact same map with a few changes. It was like a worse version of starfox 2's old betas. It should just BEEN starfox 2 ported with all the shit they couldn't have done back on snes. Instead we got a hybrid turn based fog of war kid icarus uprising prototype with weird japanese man >>7456719Put it into the planet harvesting machine in the flame place then go back to the swap stone to play as krystal.

I don't think any of them come with PJ64. That's why everything eludes you about N64 emulation. You're essentially running the ZSNES equivalent of N64 emulators.
There is a very tense atmosphere in cloudrunner in this version. This place actually might be one of the places I like. It's gonna stick with me unlike the gcn version. Whoever thought fuel cells were a viable collectable can suck a fat one.

>>7457006>Pigma's Revenge>Falco was lost after defeating Pigma. Fox, Krystal, and Slippy had saved Lylat without him and he had been left alone. In his darkest moments, Falco recieved a message from Katt Monroe telling him to make his own team. The two teamed up with Dash Bowman and created Star Falco, a team that rivaled even the legendary Star Fox team. >The Curse of Pigma>Fox lived as one already dead after losing Krystal, his love of piloting, and all those that had looked up to him as their hero. It was only thanks to Falco's brainstorm that things began to brighten up. The two joined the G-Zero Grand Prix and became racing pilots, leaving behind the days of Star Fox. Both endings involve Falco (and potentially Fox) ending up sidetracked during the game's events, and facing Pigma while someone else (the rest of Star Fox, or Star Wolf) end up dealing with the Anglar threat.

These cutscenes feel like the missing link between classic Rare and Conker in a way, the presentation still has charm but it feels very heavy and grown-up without being raunchy. Practically nothing in SFA feels close.
>>7457189They liked the idea but not the result. That output reeks
>>7457189There's definitely another dev who said the team became miserable and disenfranchised while they were doing it as they loved the original concept. It is one of those things that sounds good on paper, being handed a lucrative IP like that, but it just didn't pan out creatively.

>>7457176Actually, you don't shoot him in the eyes in SFA. You have to blow up his hands and wait till you get bombs before shooting them into his mouth so his brain is exposed and shoot at that. No eye shooting involved. Star Fox 64 did Andross way better though.>>7457190Yeah, I'm a fan of when Rare does their really original ideas, like Jet Force Gemini. Star Fox Adventures has always felt "closest" in some aspects to some of those ideas and world building, but now that Dinosaur Planet is here, I've firmly migrated to that camp. I still think SFA is one of the most technically and artistically impressive gamecube games, which is laughable considering it came out only in 2002. Some people will always write it off as a bad Zelda clone; while I can't fully dispute that, I do think it's worth looking at.>>7457197You also have to remember that devs are not a monolith. John Romero said didn't like working on Doom 2 and hated working on Quake, but he'll probably be remembered most for those along with the original Doom. Meanwhile the other developers seemed to enjoy it since it was "what they knew how to do", rather than exercising their creativity. Still great games nonetheless.
>>7457220His brain is his eyes. It was still a really shitty boss. I can do all that and more in sf64 3ds
Surprisingly this part goes smooth. Enemies are a lot more aggressive in this.
>>7457226I said I liked it, I didn't say it was good. Of course the game that focuses on arwing gameplay is going to have the better arwing gameplay and bosses than the game that shoehorned it in as basically nothing more than a minigame. If it was the first phase of a two or three phase boss, it'd be fine. But that being the whole fight, I can't deny that it's not quite as fleshed out as its 64 counterpart. Still has good music though.

I am finally stumped. I don't know what the fuck to do about scales stealing the gold.
>>7457220Starfox 1 did andross better.
The fact that I'm so excited about this game probably meant it would have been more than a cult classic on the n64. Probably would have been a great bang to end the console.
>>7456046I wonder why they didn't dub it into Japanese.
>>7456420Poor Queen :(
>>7457285A large chunk of the lines in this game are right out of the n64 version. They just took them from the source at higher quality and dubbed new ones. I like krystal's n64 VA more than the one on gcn. Joanna dark all the way.>>7457289Queen isn't even the only death. You can see places where scales has hit and people dying left and right where he goes. He takes prisoners to execute after he squeezes them for what he wants.
This is just like when we were lads trying to figure out a new game and talking about it at school.
>>7457180kekIt was to mime this meme, because her expression was so similar
>>7457190SFA has really bad presentation compared to DP. All the aesthetic choices are just weird. First few minutes have a bad made up language, showcases the ugly character design, they disembody heads A LOT, either through a projector or telepathic sequence.
So this was the actual final boss theme the entire time. damnhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SLE2yxCD2ZE
>>7456568it barely started thohttps://github.com/zestydevy/dinosaur-planet
>>7457318>the game came out less than a month ago>the decomps are barely startedvery shocking
>>7457323Do you not realize how long people have been chopping up sfa and waiting for the actual n64 version to surface? We were all hungry. We get to eat now.
>>7457326What are some other video game beta holy grails?
>>7457329Yes.
All this evil shit general scales is doing is making me actually fear the guy from a gameplay perspective. He doesn't hesitate to murder someone as fast as he can once he gets or knows they won't give him what he wants. He makes way better villan in this
>>7457326I wonder if the appeal of making an unplayable game playable is higher than decompiling games with clout like sm64 or perfect dark
>>7457358It's all relative to what the base wants and is capable of for said games.
>>7456646stfu there was never any game developer, anywhere, ever that had "sOuL" it was consumer garbage always even back then
>>7457361soullessfinally I get to kill a big guy who blocks ur path
>>7457361"Soul" is just retroqueer talk. Old thing good new thing bad. omg low poly low res pixels SOUL
>>7455308Damn Trump's branding game on point.
>>7457361I mean, you do have the coders in the 1960s who made shit like SpaceWar, in a time when there were no other games to compare them to or draw ideas from. The hardware they ran on used discrete transistors (or sometimes even vacuum tubes) and were literal megabucks per unit, so the thought of making games to line your pockets would get you laughed out of the computer lab.
>>7457385Also, computing time was a precious resource at the time, and the general idea was that computers were machines made to get Real Work done, so the thought of even making games at all would've been considered irresponsible. You had to be at least a little deviant to do it.
>>7456925Wow this is really nice. Thanks. What does LLE Graphics do? I don't see a difference.
>>7457408Non-LLE graphics (aka HLE) uses a whole shitload of heuristics to basically convert the game's graphics to work on a modern GPU, which it then renders with.LLE graphics on the other hand, tries to draw the graphics in exactly the same way as the original N64 graphics chip.So it's more accurate, and less likely to break when games do weird stuff that the emudevs didn't expect.
bastards
New bread??
This game has animated teardrops
>>7457180No offence, but your version looks way less attractive/cute by a lot.
>>7455608I really love both. It feels great having 2 official versions that you like a lot. It's like getting 2 presents with no downsides. It's awesome.
>>7454806>>7454850reminds me of the one guy on FA who got v& for being a birdfucker at a sanctuary
Man I feel bad for kyte so far in this game's story.
You do NOT belong hereFlat top brother does.
now I know who this guy is and it's proving I'm on the right track.
>>7453160I wish Nintendo and Rare/Microsoft would do a small collab to make a finished version of this for the Switch from zero, or maybe finished version of this for the N64 Mini, or whatever.Feels heavily like a prestory to Star Fox Adventures which is very sad to miss out.
>he didn't crashI am now playing with power.
oh shid major plot point that seems to be a part of minor rewritesThese usually have no subtitles.
thred's ded
Damn it, I finally am at the desert when I'm supposed to be and I still don't know how to deal with the blue man blowing me off the path
I'll soon explain a new and useful glitch.
So how different is it from gamecube version?Like are there any entirely new areas of the game?
>>7457609for better or worse SFA is an overhaul of DP
>>7457615what a non answer
>>7457609There are a fuckton of things that absolutely just do not happen in sfa with no explanation of how things got that way.At this point they're like 2 games with a similar story except 1 is like if they scrambled it up with no care for it making any sense or connecting at all. Entire characters in SFA are just kinda there. In DP they usually are there for a reason. It just doesn't seem that way if you play out of order.tl;dr it has a lot more going on in it plot wise and even some shit not in it.
This dude might as well be a main character.
>>7457609Its effectively a completely different game. Star Fox Adventures feels like a remake of this but with different story and overworld, if that makes sense.
>>7457642I'm happy he only ever shows up twice in Adventures. It looks like they were spamming him in DP and thought to tone it down mid-development.
>>7457623And yet, it's accurate.
>>7457220>Actually, you don't shoot him in the eyes in SFA.No, but you still hit the "Krazoa God" side in both eyes (and even the "third eye"). I'd still count that.
>>7457623It would have been an answer if they said underhaul of dp. I liked some parts of the game but it has always bugged me for years that there were so many spots in the game that looked like they were for something but had nothing there. The exploration was pretty dull. It was funny watching people try to speedrun the game though because the game doesn't handle a LOT of stuff well.
>>7457526Sadly I think the chances of a "redo" is near-zero, Krystal is now too inextricably tied to Star Fox (and to all the "durhur she's not in the re-reboot" people, she just recently became an Assist Trophy in Smash Ultimate). What I think has a slightly higher chance of happening is a spiritual successor possibly set on Dinosaur Planet or a similar setting with the ideas that didn't make it into Star Fox Adventures, and even that's got a low chance of happening. Maybe throw all the Diddy Kong Racing characters that never got their own game a bone, y'know? Turn Wizpig into a literal nazi as revenge for babifying Scales for the lolz. One can only dream. inb4 racing replacing the Arwing segments.
>>7457694I'll just stick with this rom for the rest of my life and start supporting playtonic
>>7455183>Nintendo kept all the DP rights once it became a Star Fox gameA lot of people speculate the change was just for that reason, Nintendo blocking Microsoft from getting a pote
