>To make a short story shorter, game wants to load thing, ram doesnt have its shit together yet, game cant find thing, game dies
>This would likely explain why repeatedly pausing allows people to bypass some area transition-related crashes.
>Yes Exactly why The pause screen initiates a frame buffer of whats on screen when the game is paused and renders it, but things are still loading internally Because the game has time to do its thing, it doesnt crash
Seems like some of Dinosaur Planet's problems stem from the streaming system. The game doesn't have load breaks like other Rare titles. You literally walk between areas through connecting tunnels.

Fixing these crashes is going to be tricky.
>>
>>7452473
I figured a majority of the crashes was because of streaming. The game takes a big performance hit whenever its actually working, so when you head down the waterfall with the falling rocks and effects everywhere it becomes a nightmare.

There's also crashes related to doing things out of order, which is easy to do since the game basically has no structure after unlocking Krystal again. It seems like Cape Claw is perhaps not intended to be immediately visited upon entering Lightfoot Village, and that some sort of flag within Lightfoot needed to be checked?

In Adventures, Lightfoot was after Cape Claw, right? Its nice that we have SFA to use as a reference but stuff is clearly thrown around since Lightfoot would be much later in that game than in this one.

Not a furry but DP Krystal was just way better designed. Since Krystal is often considered a gateway furfag item I imagine had this game made it to market it would have influenced kids to have better taste in furshit. You take one look at SFA Krystal and it's literally just a shitty fursuit in a bikini. Miyamoto's damage can't be understated. Trying to morph the game's plot to be about Star Fox inadvertently changed Krystal to be a blue female fox trapped in a crystal.

Also pic related was made by an extremely butthurt Krystalfag, furfags everywhere are now on suicide mode because everyone else is calling them out on their shit taste.

You can't do ANYTHING with cartoon animals without some furry jerking off to it. It's not just the female characters, most furries are faggots and we found out they've also been jerking off to male characters the whole time. Also Pokemon. You can't even inflate a cartoon character with an air pump without causing millions of retards to furiously masturbate. It's best to not even take the furfag factor into consideration.

Might I ask, what are the odds of Nintendo fixing this build of Dinosaur Planet and releasing it like they did Star Fox 2?

I think someone on Twitter was doing that with Unity. He commented on the recent proto release saying he's grateful for now having additional expounding resources. Don't know how far into the project he is. If anybody can find a link, that'd be nice.
>>
>>7455579
If someone says they are doing something from the ground up with Unity it means they are trying to teach themselves Unity. You don't try to recreate someone else's game by eye, in 6 months time you'll still be playing the rom in an emulator and taking notes and trying to pass off mockups as progress.
You take a disassembly (and maybe a decompile if you're lucky) and integrate it into a sort of emulator harness that provides an interface from the old code to your PC code. Over time you replace more and more of the old code with modern code whilst keeping the game logic largely intact, though you will slowly replace parts with equivalent C++. This has the incalculable benefit of giving you all the years of Rare's work up front, rather that you trying to black box reverse engineer all that work.
>>
>>7455742
>You don't try to recreate someone else's game by eye

The games extremely technically impressive for an N64 game but with the PS2 already out by the time it would have released it'd have felt like an artifact. Moving it to the Gamecube was the right call.

It's like making the most technically impressive game you can do on a Switch. An admirable feat and the devs deserve respect for making the most out of the hardware but it's not gonna wow anyone when you have a PS5 and XSX right next to it.
>>
>>7457224
>it's not gonna wow anyone when you have a PS5 and XSX right next to it.
Bad comparison when modern games pretty much hit the peak of graphics. PS5 doesn't even look that much different than the PS4.
A better comparison would have been SNES vs the N64/PS1.

>>
>>7457264
At this stage in development, it was in the early stages of Star Fox-ificiation. Sabre/Fox is now Randorn's adopted son, or something? The political dynamics of Sabre and Krystal being from species that have animosity towards each other is lost, although it might come up in other dialogue. Also, the voice lines for Randorn admitting that he killed Krystal's parents is still in the rom, although his motivation (his other son/Sabre's brother was killed in a war with the Vixon tribe) is mangled by the other change.

I wonder if people will end up getting one of those AI generator things, feeding it dialogue from various DP characters, and trying to patch over some of the holes in the story that resulted from this mid-dev retooling.
>>
>>7457406
Thing is, usually the ai voice things take specific lines or hours of someone talking. We have neither even in the best cases.
>>
>>7457426
We do have several minutes of each DP character speaking from the game dialogue. DP has one hour and 19 minutes of voice acting. You could also slyly augment the performance with Daniel Carrington lines for Randorn, and Joanna Dark lines for Krystal, and Jonathan/Grimshaw lines for Fox.

Not, was confirmed to be mid-conversion to Star Fox Adventures: Dinosaur Planet on N64, the decision vto move to GameCube (which is really what damaged the game) happened afterward. Besides, Rare couldn't have been too confident in the original male lead if it was going to be yet another Diddy Kong Racing refugee.

People left Rare a long time ago. Current Rare isn't the Rare of the Nintendo days anymore.
It's more likely and yet still imposible that former Rare (aka Playtonic) pitch something like "Dinosaur Planet: Star Fox Adventures Remaatered" and remake DP close to what it was intended, barring Saber still replaced by Fox.
But I wouldn't mind Fox with a sword and more gameplay time as Krystal.

Point is, I know it's not happening but there's nothing stopping Playtonic from approaching Nintendo with a SFA remaster that's closer to the original concept.
As it was discussed in the previous threads, the change to Star Fox happened a whole year before the Microsoft buyout and 2 years before the final 2002 deadline. What ultimately fucked SFA to be so gutted out was the buyout deadline and not the Star Fox elements.

Said it felt sort of felt like someone digging up an old journal/diary in terms of privacy

I'm waiting for it to be fully functional and put on a cartridge so I can play it on an original N64.

Generally speaking, when certain* people/communities release ROMs, they can 100% be considered real.

This list includes: Hidden Palace, tcrf, ForestOfIllusion, Protodude, and some others.

it's rare. they knew exactly what they were doing. the shadow effect looks like a hardcoded transparency

Looking at this thread, it's easy to see that furfags can't have good discussion without their sick, disgusting fetish seeping into it. I hope they all yiff in hell.

Only pedophiles like DP Krystal over the SFA one

It's 2021 grandpa, stop using the ZSNES of N64 emulators.

Telling someone to kill themselves for posting a perfectly innocent question is cringe. Do you listen to Kpop and post about it on Twitter too? Eat shit and live.

Is it that bad? I'm playing Mario 64 on it and about to play Zelda on it, since I have a shit PC.

this issue isn't that they cancelled it, the issue is that they converted to the GameCube and did a half ass job because of the Microsoft buy out

imagine this game with all the quality of life upgrades on the GameCube, would've been awesome

The last five or six years in the N64 emulation scene has been spent trying to catch Mupen64Plus up to, and eventually surpassing PJ64 because of how shit it and its developers were. PJ64 not a good emulator. It's decent enough with the right plug-ins that you need to go out of your way to download which come standard with Mupen, but Mupen with those plugins is still better. Using PJ64 in 2021 is no different than using ZSNES or Nesticle in 2021.

I'm using Angrylion, looks pretty good

>>7468175
That's fantastic. I also like to use ZSNES to play Super Mario World and it looks pretty good too :)

The Trice's betrayal was great, but the pterogenocide arc and deicide was a bit over the top and too 2000's JRPG for me
