Last thread was awesome. Let's resume there.Currently playing through the Devil Force series by Compile. Not the greatest trpg ever, but still a pretty fun game with a comfy soundtrack. What are you playing on your kyuujuuhachi emulator or your expensive real hardware, /vr/os ? Pic related. Classic PC-98 Ayumi puts modern one to shame.
No comp atm, so I'm stuck just looking at pretty visuals on a Pi4 for now, but as soon it's in I wanna play around with different paint programs.

>>7398924Actually Ayumi is the only character design revision I prefer in the new one
>>7398989You can't go wrong with Metajo, Last Guardian or Tuned Heart. As for H-games, Foxy/Shangrlia series (second instalments of both series are a massive imrpovment over the first games), Lakers and Magical Jam are cool too.

>>7398963What is the name of this program?
>>7402423Oh, is that so?Do they actually work?
>>7402512These characters are just pixels on screen, you can use something like Capture2Text to process them. People have been using tools like AGTH and ITH for a decade and a half, back when no one would dream of having good translations or even official releases:https://www.deviantart.com/avalonmelody/journal/Reading-Visual-Novels-Using-AGTH-TA-ATLAS-ITH-496372829http://retropc98.narod,ru/soft/agth.htmSearching for text directly in emulator's memory might not work well, and a platform-specific hook might be needed. OCR should work.So there was a colleague at my job, the type who is used to open websites by typing their name into search bar. A great fellow, though. One day I noticed that he was really busy installing and configuring some stuff, and got intrigued. It turned out that he really wanted to play some Japanese VN that didn't have a translation because he had got hooked onto the characters by some other media, so he found the guides, the programs, and then we both got it running. So, never underestimate others' determination.
>>7402512See /h/ for text hook software for eroge.Basically the software intercepts the message output. Some software also automatically translates the message using Google Translate or others (Bing, DeepL).That's how those who don't know Japanese play eroge.
>>7402654>>7402709Another sample, the software uses transparent background at the top left corner.
>>7402654>emulatorI had trouble when trying to use text hook in Dosbox. There's retro Japanese game I'd like to translate but I couldn't hook it properly. The game requires DOS/V in Dosbox to show Japanese text.
>>7402709>>7402654That's pretty good, yet I was somehow hopping for the text to be directly replaced. It looks pretty complicated and I'm just a simple man who wants to enjoy pc-98 games :(

>>7409532One of the few eroge of its time to have a competent English translation. Very innovative, especially considering visual novels rarely stray from their common formula. God tier soundtrack by Ryu Umemoto, I'd go as far as to say there's no other soundtrack that can match it. Good production value as well, some of the CGs are stellar. And Kanno has a love it or hate it writing style, which helps drive discussion. Lastly, it's really fucking good.

>>7411863Well, it's a bit too late to jump on these, since they are dying more from month to month and getting flooding with trashfiles more than before. Many Japanese switched over to Torrent and get their stuff from Nyaa, and it looks like they are now rarely uploading something themself.Otherwise Winny, Share and Perfect Dark are the way to go. With Perfect Dark the newest / last iteration of Japanese P2P and maybe the way to go.Anyway i almost got anything J-PC related, and am still monitoring for new files and cleaning up all those stuff (which takes long, since many Archive-Files are either sometimes esoteric like "GCA" and many ZIP are SHIFT-JIS, so i have to unpack them manually over CLI to have proper Filenames ect.., and still many Dupes) on my PC and will upload everything to Archive.org at some point in the future. If you search something specific i can also take a quick look in my files if there is something.

>>7422409Try Out Breakers and Last Breakers. They're not as good in my book but they're still pretty nice considering the system they run on.Raid Wind in nice, if you played the Alltynex series it's some kind of prequel. As for doujin platformers, Miko-san fight by Mushroom is cool. Just a little help on how to play : you can collect colored hanafuda, and each hanafuda type can eliminate a specific monster. But you can only use the last picked hanafuda, so if you want to use another one you picked earlier, you must destroy the associated monster first. So there's a little puzzle-strategy involved. Great art and animation, really a charming little game.
>>7423843Thanks, I had a good time playing those. Most of them are oozing with souls... like Raid Wind using those awful square bullets but trying to make spaceships in the background move at different speed.Miko-san kinda left me clueless, but it's because I'm retarded I think.

>>7453472>>7453238WW is an extremely simplistic dungeon crawler. You only get one character and can't use magic so it's just a matter of bashing. The remake added at least some depth with ranged weapons and going for action instead of turn base but even then it's extremely simple. The remake also cut out all but 2 of the H-scenes because it was originally meant for the Saturn. This causes a bit of a plothole since most of the girls you meet in the second half are actually your daughters.Overall the only good thing about the game is the plot. If the anime hadn't fucked that one up it would be the best to experience it that way. >>7453591I think the original WW had some of elf's worst character art of the era.
