ITT: That level you could never beat
>>
>>7273404
I've beaten that level plenty of times. Get good.
>>
Just be patient, it takes 30 whole seconds to drown and you can get through half of it before the water even reaches you
>>
>>7273404
Well it ain't that one.
>>
>>7273404
Labyrinth Zone is my one of my favorites though. I somehow don't find the water parts as frustrating as everyone else. meanwhile I hate Aquatic Ruin Zone with a passion.
>>
You ain't a real nigga unless you can get out of the rising Mega Mack in Chemical Plant before it reaches you.
>>
>>7273470
I don't really mind Labyrinth but what the hell is wrong with Aquatic Ruin other than being too short?
>>
>>7273483
solely considering the water portions I think Aquatic Ruin is a lot more tricky. but also I've played Sonic 2 much less than 1 or 3&K.
>>
>>7273439

I AM good, I can get to that point with little trouble, maybe dying once or twice in Marble Zone, but I can't beat Labyrinth 3 no matter what.

I was actually really good at the special stages in sonic 2. Besides memorizing the bomb patterns and turns, you have to calculate your input to be like half a second ahead of whats happening because the controls suck dick. Having tails with you made this way harder because he trails too far, so i always chose sonic only. I usually had all the emeralds by about the time I cleared hilltop zone

I never beat Ratchet and Clank 2 until after 3 came out because I kept getting stuck on Maktar Resort. One of the paths in the level is blocked off by a tractor beam pillar and I just straight up never noticed it. I knew there was shit to do here because I could see more of of the level but, I didn't know how to reach it. I've started over at least 3 times trying to figure out what I was doing wrong, I've never been that retarded in a game before.

i will just say that there is quite literally no way to realize it unless you have autism to test every button. if you are a child playing this game then no you are not getting past it without having extreme patience / autism. up is never used in the game prior, it should have been what it almost was which is timing jumps, and thats why so many people got confused. timing jumps makes more sense in a sonic game than using up and down on one object in the entire game.

President's Run, the final mission of Driver. To this day, I never finished this game. Last time I played was back in 2007, so lost my save.
The mission is hard as fuck because you're driving a slow-ass limo while being chased by a ton of police cars, and a single mistake will cost you the entire mission. Even the people who beat it legitimately (on youtube) used tricks like getting a mountain of cars stacked on corners.

I managed to get past The Gatekeeper after thinking it must've been impossible for about three months, but Twin Freaks was just asking too much.

I have, as an adult, beaten this fucking game once after practicing the last few levels using save states on an emulator about a hundred times first.

I never ever had trouble with this and I was 5 years old when I gave it a go. You're SIGNIFICANTLY overestimating how hard this. Genesis has 3 buttons and directionals, barrel goes up and down. If 5 year old me could figure it out, you blatantly a retard.

>>7276015

Let's just agree that it's one of those things where the less you know about videogames the higher chances you have of figuring it out cause you're still open to everything. There's a name for this phenomenon I think
>>
>>7274681
You basically have to get a friend to play with you when doing those with tails.
>>
>>7274808

>>
>>7276015
>>7277443
The problem people had with this barrel wasn't because they didn't try every button. It's because this was the 3rd barrel of its kind on the zone, and you could pass through the first two by timing your jumps somewhat carefully. So when time came for the last one, you were misled by the game into thinking you needed to time your jumps again.

See. The problem isn't that there you have to push a button you never did before. It's that the game "taught" you that jumping on the barrels was the real way to do it, when it wasn't. It's an oversight.

>Jesus Christ. It's the first fucking boss.

Yeah, I know that. But the GameGear Sonic 2 version of this boss was made harder than the Sega Master System version with screen cropping and randomized boulder drops that made it hard to memorize for a first boss. It's not hard once you know the pattern.

>>7282401
>lol
>i just went "fuck this shit" as soon as had to use the kite

Yeah, once you complete that first boss. The next stage introduces this hang glider mechanic. There really is no explanation to how the hang glider works either. I would die non-stop trying to work out the controls. Though the controls to the hang glider are kind of lime Mario's cape in Super Mario World. I would lose all of my lives on the hangglider stage and going back to that first boss. I did complete Sonic 2 on the GameGear. But it has a pretty steep learning curve for a Sonic game.

Level 2 is hard but it's all about memorizing patterns (the way you can clip through hippos is bullshit though)
Level 3 is easy
Level 4 is medium
Level 5 is medium
Level 6-9 are easy (grown Simba is pretty powerful) the only bullshit is battling Scar where you have to remember to roll him over (a move that you can only do halfway into the game and you're not explicitly shown)

i remember when i finally triumphed over this level. i was 8 and it was a saturday, and every saturday i would watch satam sonic and beat sonic 2 and try to beat sonic 1 but i would have to level skip past this part. see i thought the boss fight was a continuous jump up through the traps and try to hit him, i didnt know that as long as you made it up high enough you would leave the vertical tunnel and then the boss fight is super easy. well i was on my last life and trying to jump up to hit him, when i thought fuck it ill just try and see how high i can get instead of focusing on trying to kill him now. and then holy shit i made it out, i couldnt believe it, it had an actual end and theres that fat fuck, your so fucking dead. after this i beat the game and then went ahead and beat the game again for good measure, it was noon at this time and i was sore from playing all morning so i turned it off and went outside to play.
>>
>>7273470
How? You only even touch the water if you suck.
>>
>>7281176

No, that's the problem - you're NOT suppose to jump on him. You're suppose to jump over a series of cannon balls that come in from the left side of the screen and let them hit the boss.

I think that was complex puzzle solving for children who were trained that you have to jump on something to defeat it in this game.
