I thought I'd experiment with using a different track type to create more interesting racetracks that could be paved with scenery and the track made invisible. This is kinda fascinating. Karts teleport past wide (45degree) turns but have no problem with other turns, including the sloped ones. The loop was just to see what happened and the answer is they lose momentum going into the "uphill" and slowly rise to the top before gaining momentum on the "downhill."

Nah, they're great on effort builds or for building up momentum for longer track designs. Chains can get boring and sometimes it's nice to build up enough velocity to crest the first hill going 10-20mph and take it from there.
Maybe there's some lame meta/micro builds out there, not really familiar with them.

What's cheesy is that you can just throw in a free boost wherever. It's the inverse of the trim brakes of shame. If you exclusively use it how a real coaster uses launches, then fine. It's just an inclined version of an ordinary launch track. But I think that "straight uphill launch for high speed with loop at the top" thing that people tend to do with it strains credulity.

You've posted a misshapen launch (flat into inclined) into a misshapen loop. In one respect, that's not inconsistent with what I said - it's a "regular" dedicated launch element.
But, while it's done what it can with the lack of a larger loop track piece, granted, it's not so much justification for having an inclined launch that is essentially within the retarded loop and so is, for purposes of this complaint and this discussion, *exactly the same* as the original example of station->inclined launch->half loop.
A real coaster would have a proper large clothoid loop, or at least a compelling alternate loop design, that extends into the flat segment after that, with a continuous flat or *slightly* inclined launch leading into it.
You're kinda just arguing past me. At any rate, pushing the boundaries of coaster size is its own problem.

OpenRCT2 makes challenge scenarios an absolute cakewalk. It was designed for quality of life improvements and ease of accessibility for casual players. For example, it only took me 7 in game years to beat the scenario compared to 20 and 34 for the other attempts. I welcome anyone else to try to beat it now that it is potentially a much more tolerable experience.
Personally, I prefer the vanilla game. If only it had proper resolution support and the timescale button. That's all I need.

If its going to be a multiplayer map, I always just select every vanilla RCT1 and 2 (no RCT2 expansions) rides and scenery, and then select custom rides and scenery that don't look like aids. Host anon usually selects custom scenery I've noticed.

Spamming trees and bushes in the grass area would work I think. Maybe add some dead trees in the not-grass areas

I always go with a RCT1-style progression where you start off with basic rides, and unlock better and better rides as you go along. I also try to keep a bit of historical accuracy to the order, like corkscrew/hyper coasters being unlocked before twister/hyper twister, and then giga/hybrid coming last.
