I thought I'd experiment with using a different track type to create more interesting racetracks that could be paved with scenery and the track made invisible. This is kinda fascinating. Karts teleport past wide (45degree) turns but have no problem with other turns, including the sloped ones. The loop was just to see what happened and the answer is they lose momentum going into the "uphill" and slowly rise to the top before gaining momentum on the "downhill."
>>10427890>inclined booster, a cheesy track piece to begin withNah, they're great on effort builds or for building up momentum for longer track designs. Chains can get boring and sometimes it's nice to build up enough velocity to crest the first hill going 10-20mph and take it from there.Maybe there's some lame meta/micro builds out there, not really familiar with them.
>>10434156What's cheesy is that you can just throw in a free boost wherever. It's the inverse of the trim brakes of shame. If you exclusively use it how a real coaster uses launches, then fine. It's just an inclined version of an ordinary launch track. But I think that "straight uphill launch for high speed with loop at the top" thing that people tend to do with it strains credulity.
>>10434230i feel the same way when people take advantage of the length of a train to functionally make a curved and/or steep chain lift when it's not a supported track piece. i understand its use especially for optimization, i just don't like it.
>>10434230Aw man, I guess I gotta disagree. I think if you can be creative like pic related, it works well. I actually want to get back to building more rides that start fast and bleed off speed and finish off at like 20-30mph.>>10434380I like doing a twister spire chain lift to the top cuz it looks cool. Other than that, I like doing it to keep things compact or localized to an area. There's also;>chain lifts on all track pieces cheat>steep incline to topI've seen that IRL, it's just disappointing that we don't have the graphics for that (or many other things).
>>10434496>if you can be creative like pic relatedYou've posted a misshapen launch (flat into inclined) into a misshapen loop. In one respect, that's not inconsistent with what I said - it's a "regular" dedicated launch element. But, while it's done what it can with the lack of a larger loop track piece, granted, it's not so much justification for having an inclined launch that is essentially within the retarded loop and so is, for purposes of this complaint and this discussion, *exactly the same* as the original example of station->inclined launch->half loop.A real coaster would have a proper large clothoid loop, or at least a compelling alternate loop design, that extends into the flat segment after that, with a continuous flat or *slightly* inclined launch leading into it.You're kinda just arguing past me. At any rate, pushing the boundaries of coaster size is its own problem.
>>10434654>misshapen loopnta, every loop in RCT that does not use the special track pieces is a misshapen loop.

/vr/ct bros, should i get the mouse mat? https://www.fangamer.com/collections/rollercoaster-tycoon/products/rct-desk-matThey got pins aswell but they cost too much lmao
>>10439070>landscape grid lines visibleabsolutely not
>>10439070>mat costs $28 - A-OK>pins cost $24 - too muchI can tell you're the sort of person who puts the loan up to max and never thinks about it.
>>10439076They fucked up, you are right, no money for them>>10439081Yes, that's how i have beaten rct3 as a kid/teen. Idk how much pins should cost tho
>>10439070>Mr. Bones shirtHow do I launch a DMCA takedown in the name of Anonymous?
>>10439030That was built 19 years after RCT came out, and it only does the steep part right at the start to get above another section of track.
>>10439060OpenRCT2 makes challenge scenarios an absolute cakewalk. It was designed for quality of life improvements and ease of accessibility for casual players. For example, it only took me 7 in game years to beat the scenario compared to 20 and 34 for the other attempts. I welcome anyone else to try to beat it now that it is potentially a much more tolerable experience.Personally, I prefer the vanilla game. If only it had proper resolution support and the timescale button. That's all I need.
>>10439132I'm the same desu. I wish there were a branch of OpenRCT2 that was -just- modern resolution and operating system support, with none of the cheating and babby stuff added in. I don't even want fast forward.
>>10439070>chain lift into banked turn>corkscrew coaster's entire layoutThese screenshots are so amateur hour that I would be disgusted to look at them. They didn't even take screenshots of the title screen parks, which are all timeless classics.

>>10439070>that cope lift hill in the MIDDLE of the wooden coaster's runshiggy
>>10439491Makes one wonder WHY THE FUCK the curve at the top of it is banked.
>>10439792The next level above having unbanked everything is having banked everything unnecessarily
>>10439795Thing is bankingf the top of the hill into the curve means that chain lift doesn't actually reach the top. Does the game cheat in the players favor on that?
>>10439802you can sometimes get away with it, the last car of the train will be pulled over the crest of the hill with the speed that the chain gives the trainof course it looks stupid though
>>10439101>depicts a roller coaster instead of a long vintage car rideThis is even more of a fuckup than the mat's excess banked turns

>>10440523>45 mph into that second corkscrewThe only way you're selling that much cotton candy and balloons is concussing the guests.>>10440538My guess it's either a mutilated version of Dragon's Cove or Fiasco Forrest.>>10440538

>>10442365>>10440674ok I looked at Mel's World, Dragon's Cove, and Fiasco Forest, and it's not any of those. Mel's World has a big hill going down at the entrance, Fiasco Forest is too narrow, and Dragon's Cove is too hilly. What the hell is it?

anyone got a weekend map request? I wanted to do the map on that shit mousepad but I can't figure out which one it is
>>10442684I actually was wondering what the fuck the inverted shuttle coaster's picture was layout wise
>>10433717Dang that's fancy. Wonder if a monochromatic rollercoaster park would be cool in real life nowProbably would need a few different colors in it. Looks ok though
>>10434496This should exist in real life why doesn't it?
is there a way to make it so a mobius coaster starts with half of the trains in the second station? without putting it in test mode and waiting
I have Beggar's Peak hosted for now. 97.69.222.117:11753
>>10443480I called this ride 'Beggar's Belief' because it 'beggars belief' how much of the loan I spent on the entire project
>>10443265No. Wait till you start making quad mobiuses. After that make a quad mobius with 8 stations and use it as a transport ride. Took 15 minutes just to sync it up on the last build I did.
I'm slapping down some custom prebuilts I built this week. I started experimenting with something and it got a little out of hand lol. I'll probably cheat doing it but I promise I'll make the money to buy the land up eventually.Hope no one has any objections. I have to head out for a bit and then I'll get started.
dead like a turkey on famsgiving
made a new roller coaster bros
I'm pretty much legally fucking retarded, but the silver lining is that someone else can help me share an image file above 4mg;https://files.catbox.moe/l8fvi8.pngsomeone else can figure it out. maybe danny can,
I want to go on something more thrilling than terrain paintingI've just got to throw down some props. Which i've been dreading because i don't know how to make a giant badlands area look nice, if it's temperate you can just spam trees and it looks legit 90% of the time. Then it's just research list and objectives.Feel free to suggest some objective, guest stats, starting cash etc. I don't know what you guys want
>>10446285If its going to be a multiplayer map, I always just select every vanilla RCT1 and 2 (no RCT2 expansions) rides and scenery, and then select custom rides and scenery that don't look like aids. Host anon usually selects custom scenery I've noticed. Spamming trees and bushes in the grass area would work I think. Maybe add some dead trees in the not-grass areas

my rides got deleted
>>10447510Who the fuck is deleting rides?
Here's your merch collection bro, that'll be $100 plus shipping plus tax
Soooo did FanGamer get official approval for that shit? We know Atari doesn't give a flying fuck about quality but I thought Cries Sawyer still had some control over his work, some involvement in Classic etc.
>>10448270Yeah I think for 1&2 maybe shitari bought him out in 2015/6. Maybe they didn't tell him maybe anons should email him and show this cringe asking if he's getting paid maybe he'll reply thanking us he's contacting his lawyer right away. >>10447808but uh the fuck is this cringe? its 2x6" "modern """urban""" fashion" is so fucking cringe so so fucking god damn cringe.
>>10448270Like he's going to try and stop them? Atari can just tell him to piss off since it's their cow to milk to death.
>>10448754https://atari.com/pages/rollercoaster-tycoonScroll down
>>10447517i made a corkscrew rollercoaster and a line twister rollercoaster yesterday and they were both gone today
>>10447808I think Atari might be talking about themselves. They might have fucked up RCT, but at least they can still celebrate it with merch.
>>10448896well that fucking sucks, sorry to hear that anon
we now have a path fully around the mountain. I don't know what this will do to those on top, but so far it doesn't seem to be causing any problems.
>>10448982I remember seeing the prices on errornogo's stuff, they're fucking ridiculous

>>10453432I really like this park. I also think we have a vampire within our ranks now lol.>>10455606That's a nice color palette.
>>10460670Think I just got AIDS from that video
>>10461808lol yea, it's pretty bad. at least they're not doing drugs r-right?
>>10453432fun fact about this one, I accidentally set it to public for a while. All this time I've been hosting, the "Advertise server" option hasn't worked, so I didn't bother to uncheck it. Somehow, it started working this time. That might explain some of the weird griefing that occurred over the course of the weekend.
>>10462569yeah any public servers that don't have restricted permissions usually get invaded by random retards who want to re-enact those decade old vinesauce videos for "le ebin cheats and griefing"
>>10462573Obviously I'm going to turn it off for this weekend, but I'm surprised we had so many cool randoms come through. Most of them seemed genuinely interested in contributing.
>>10462569Oh is that why we had some rides that were signed by some people's username? I was wondering about that.
>>10462636Also explains the retards deleting rides
when you make a scenario how do you decide which rides/attractions will be available? do you do it randomly or pick and choose?
>Thorpe Park's new logoJesus wept.
>>10455606Damn thats pretty slick anon
>>10464891Is there going to be a chrome version at the entrance? Because that looks like an automovite badge.
>>10464793I always go with a RCT1-style progression where you start off with basic rides, and unlock better and better rides as you go along. I also try to keep a bit of historical accuracy to the order, like corkscrew/hyper coasters being unlocked before twister/hyper twister, and then giga/hybrid coming last.
>>10455606Would be keen to play this this weekend, when's the server likely to go up
>>10464891That looks like an autoparts store logo.
>>10464793I just pick basic rides to start with, unless i have a specific theme like "you only start with wooden rides". Then i just click random on the unresearched stuff a few times
>>10464891Imagine the hundreds if not thousands spent getting some graphic design scammer to come up with a stock font and a backwards O
>>10466174right now
It's up.
>>10467985I reckon we need more custom stalls and rides, unless the item limit has been hit.
>>10468752the object limit for scenery items and rides are both over 2000. Its more of a matter of filesize bloat in my opinion
>someone put an information kiosk near the entrance>it has been closed this entire time
>>10467985>210fpswhat kind of a monster PC do you have to run OpenRCT2 at that speed?
>>10469291Whoops. At least someone noticed, I somehow didn't.
>multiple rides and guests renamed danny dambersonReal funny, guys. Not confusing or stupid at all.
>>10469380not who you're replying to, but I have a 7 year old GPU and I get above 210 sometimes. If it's based on CPU, however, I have an i9 10850k.
>>10469380when there's absolutely nothing on screen but a landscape and scenery, your FPS can skyrocket like crazy. It usually dips down to 40-60 during normal gameplay
